Brit pics coming soon...a PSA til then.

Hi everyone! Britney.was.awesome. All of you who commented and told me how fabutastic she would be were SOOOO right!!!! And I'll explain later, but I ended up getting FLOOR passes!!!!!! Sarah's camera is all high tech and way better so I'm going to steal her pics when I head out to run some errands for the UW in a bit!

This is more of a PSA to all my blogger friends... for reals. I got a call from my OBGYN this morning.. weird, right? Yes. Soo.. she said "I've been trying to reach you...I had the wrong number." I was like "oooh.. sorry.." She said "Look, your results came back.. and there's some precancerous cells on your cervix we're going to need to remove." My smile dropped and I was silent for like 3 seconds til she said "Dont worry. It's mild cervial dysplasia-there's three stages and yours is the lowest. We're just gonna go in and get rid of the problem, biopsy it and let you know." So... I'm going in first part of October. Sheesh. I did some internet research and it looks like mild dysplasia is pretty common...well...more common than some things, that is. My friend I went to lunch with has even had the same thing removed and everything is a-ok with her. So, that helped make me feel better. And I guess mine is the type that can turn into cancer in 10-15 years...or not at all... but they just want to get rid of it b/c the incidence is MUCH higher for cervical cancer when it goes untreated. And if it moves from the mild stage, that's an issue, too.

So, I'm not freaked as much anymore (admittedly still a little freaked)... esp since it seems pretty common. I've just never had anything come back abnormal like that! I guess it's prevalent in women ages 25-35. So...here is my PSA to you. GO get your yearly. I always thought it was silly to have to go every single year when I'm not even trying to get prego or anything like that. With some of my best friends trying to have babies and having some slight issues, I was kinda alerted to how important it really is to pay attention to your female parts. And my phone call today just furthers that in my mind. Had I not gone, I'd have no idea.

Anyway...that's my public service announcement for the day. Take care of yourselves, peeps.

Britney pics later!!!! :)

the procedures are quick and practically painless. okay maybe a little painful for like 30 seconds but that's it!

I've never had anything come back abnormal before either, but I understand that you'd feel freaked. I'm sure I'd be even more freaked. Glad it's nothing serious. But yes- your PSA is right on target, we definitely need to get our lady parts checked out EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. It's important!!!

Don't be freaked. Like you heard, it is common. It happened to me about 7 years ago but I'm fine now. I swear that half of my friends have had abnormal cells at one point or another too. Very happy they caught it early too!
