Randomtown

Your unsolicited dose of Jackie-cant-sleep randomness...

***I want a fedora. Everyone is sold out of the cute ones. Advice appreciated. I dont know why I want one, but I just do. And it doesnt hurt that my stylist told me my scalp was dry dry dry from getting it fried a few times this summer since I don't wear hats at the pool enough. Hells bells. Anyway, I want a fedora.

***Ya'll remember how my dog had a history of...ahem...glandular issues of the rear end? It's tmi, but seriously.. we were at the vet A.LOT. with this issue...and it was often very unpleasant for the poor pup, requiring antibiotics, etc. :( Well, a vet tech told me last time to put a spoonful of canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie mix...just pumpkin), in her food b/c it would totally help! It's been MONTHS and no issue at all! (knock on wood). Anyway, yay! If your pup has issues, go to Whole Foods and get some! (the only place I could find it in town).

***Went to my former Vice President's casa tonight to watch the Bachelorette, have some fajitas, and share some laughs.. :) I'm so flattered they still include me in that stuff since I no longer work there. I dig my friends from my former jobbidy! :) She also got us all candles from her interior designer's place! They came in these cute little boxes.. They smell SO GOOD, peeps. SO GOOD. I just lurve scents, don't you?! They totally affect my mood. I could sit there and smell yummy things forever.. I just find it so calming. Anyway, I think I'm going to have to do a giveaway with one of these candles b/c they're awesome. And I may have it sitting beside me (unlit) on the bed so it wafts to my nose as I type this... Mmmmmmmmm!!

What are you fav scents and from where (if they're a candle or something)? :)

***While we're on the Bachelorette, who's your fav?! I just love Roberto. I love Chris L, too, though.. I've never enjoyed Frank, so the previews for the next few weeks really pissed me off at that little man. Just sayin.

***My roomie was walking around in sweats complaining of having the chills when I got home. Drinking vitamin C stuff like nobody's business b/c if she gets me sick for my birthday, I might have to train Gracie to be an attack dog. Or something. *glancing at Gracie and see her beached on my bed; definitely not attack dog material. Whatevs.

Off to dreamland....xoxo... :)

Weekend Recap!

The thunder is booming outside and Gracie dog and I just got in from a pre-storm walk-race to beat the rain. She's passed out beside me and we're getting ready to watch Kourtney and Khloe... so exciting, I know.

This weekend was pretty good, peeps! Friday, I grabbed dinner with Maureen and the two of us ran some errands just hung out. :) Good times.

Saturday, I headed to my friend, Brandy's, personal shower. I may or may not have gotten lost in a little town in Oklahoma called Sand Springs. Were the directions hard? No. Am I proud of my lack of directional ability? No. Did I stop somewhere to ask for directions that ended up being ACROSS the street from where I was going? Yeah. I did. Whatever. But..um.. I guess the place was going for a Christmas in July thing? I dunno...

Anyway, I got the directions....to go across the street.. and made it to the shower. :) It was hosted by the bride's mom's friends and others...and lemme tell you...Her mom's friend's are freaking cool. They all have a little gambling group-adorable right? Except dont let the adorableness fool you.. These ladies are GOOD at poker. Just.saying. Like go on poker cruises together, etc... awesome. Anyway, check out some of the yummy food and adorable cake. (and who knew you could have plates printed with pics?! I didnt. Totally cute).
The bride-to-be opening gifts :)
Some of the ladies had planned a fun little performance to music for entertainment... HILARIOUS! :) I'll refrain from details, but this was a personal shower...so the lyrics were less than tame. Comedy!
Brandy and me...
Her shower totally solidified my desire to have a personal shower when I get hitched someday. It was just so fun... Lots of laughs from many generations, fun gifts, girly drinks... just plain awesome.

Saturday night, went to a friend's going away party (2nd one in two weeks! Sheesh.) Came home and took a pic with my little pup. :)
Today, lots of errands.. Went to find something to wear for/on my birthday next weekend but didn't find anything.. Granted, it might be b/c my roomie called me and said she thought she smelled something burning before she left for work. Um... So, I threw down the stuff I had in my hands and ran home, thankfully to find no burning anything. Minor heart attack=me. Anyway, rest of the day was grocery storing, errands, etc. Eric and I grocery stored together b/c he doesnt have a car right now.. Poor guy. :( They finally paid him for his last week (from when the dude totaled it), but he hasn't found what he wants yet....and has opted to go ahead and fix his truck b/c he wants to keep it anyway since it's kinda his baby... So, in the meantime, he's high rollin in my passenger seat and we're bonding over Whole Foods... ha!

Hope you had a great weekend, blog peeps!

Just a few reasons....

...I'm excited for Anthropologie to come to TULSA!
(I.want.this.bag)
(even their one pieces are haute!)
(freaking LOVE this apron)
(meee.ow...)
(fabulous)

*All images taken from Anthropologie.com

Is it just me or do you love wandering through Anthropologie...even if you dont end up buying anything? They just have so much fab stuff! I'm often a bigger fan of their jewelry and home stuff than their clothes, but the stuff this season is pretty haute!

What's your morning routine?

...when you get to work?

Me?

Go in, get pepsi at cafe. Proceed to other end of building where my elevators/escalators are...pepsi in tow. Hope I dont slip on the inclined floor...b/c I'm clumsy. Seriously, I think this every.single.day. :) Say good morning to people I pass. I pretend they want me to say hi every morning, so I do it. For them. Duh. ;) Log in, check internet in this order for about 10 minutes: twitter, facebook, cnn, while eating a nature's valley granola bar I keep at my desk. Depending on the day, eating that granola bar/perusing the internet takes different amounts of time. ;) I then decide whether to music it up.. and if so, log in to yahoo music, pop in headphones and commence working...

Yup. And now I'm sharing this with you b/c I'm taking a super quick blog break...and b/c I'm curious.. what's your morning pattern, peeps?

I have an issue.

Blogfriends,

My name is Jackie and I have a confession. I have an addiction...to ordering swimsuits. It's getting out of control. I just went online to show a friend the one I just ordered...and promptly found another one. I restrained myself from purchasing, but I dont know what my issue is. I think my brain wants a vacation and my fingertips just keep pressing "add to shopping cart." : /

I mean.. they're not expensive..like at ALL...unless taken cumulatively. *nervous* And I'm sending the ones that don't fit back (attempting to justify).

This is my written confession in hopes of creating accountability for myself and stopping my swimsuit-ordering ways.

Some people like shoes; I apparently like overpriced spandexy water wear.

*head hung in shame*

I'll post pics of the ones I've gotten this season later. I think we're on number 4ish...maybe 5. Whateverdontjudgeme.

XOXO.

Lots of pics.....Weekend Recap :)

Okay, blogger is effing with my sanity b/c it wont stop doing weird things to my layout. It is what it is. Please ignore the weirdness. XOXO.

It wants to post these first, so here are some pics of me and G dog... (she's feeling better btw!!!)

I'll keep the text as minimal as possible b/c there are a lot of pics and this could get looooooong...esp with the funky formatting blogger is doing....

Last Monday, Eric and I attended an awards banquet and got to get all dressed up. :) It was storming like cuuhrazy and it was right after work (aka a quick change), but that didn't stop us. :)

My hot date actually bought his tux recently and I'm pretty impressed if I do say so myself.... looked rather spiffy. (yes, I said spiffy). First time we've ever been to anything actually black tie together... :)

I borrowed some sassy dresses from my friend, Sarah, and then opted to just buy one b/c I realized we have two more black tie things coming up... (I justify shopping. It's what I do).

Wish we woulda taken more photos.. Eh, whatevs...

Wednesday, a little group got together for Beth's bday

...and took a few sunglasses photos... ha! (bday girl and my roomie)

Last week, I swung by Eric's to see.....a cat had totally hidden her babies in his chiminea! They're now hanging in his bushes, but here are some adorable pics!

Thurs, Eric and I went to the Drillers game with his dad and brother...

....and managed to only get this photo of ourselves...Look at the skyline in Eric's glasses.. kinda fun.. just noticed that.

Saturday, Sara and I pooled it up at a friend's apt...as did a lot of other people... :) SO.HOT. Sara and I kept exchanging the "can you hand me my shoes so I can walk over that way?" b/c the cement was ridiculous! Good times...even though we're fairly certain only like three of the people in the below pic actually LIVE in those apts.... *shrugs* Whatev.

Saturday night, Sara and I headed to a rooftop bar for our friend's going away party... Remember how hot I said it was a second ago? Yeah, maybe a rooftop party in 100 degrees isn't the best plan.. lol! We had fun anyway... :)

Annnnd that's about all the patience I have for blogger.. haha... Seriously it just kinda did whatever it wanted tonight.

I had a great, chillax weekend. :) I'll have to tell you a scary neighborhood story that may or may not involve me watching too much Dateline some other time but it's hilarious... and it resulted in me ending up at Eric's house b/c I was too scared to be here. I'm crazy sometimes. Crazy.

Other things from the weekend:
* learned I can kill ants invading my sunroom with windex. (I use windex for everything. It's kinda ridiculous really).
* when going online to purchase lingerie for a friend's personal shower, I will likely end up with a swimsuit for myself....and no lingerie for the party. *oops*

Hope everyone had a great weekend...and hope all the dads out there had a great Fathers Day! :)

Prayers for Jace and for baby Cohen

It's been a week, peeps....

As I said prayers every single day for Baby Cohen currently fighting for his little life in Texas and religiously follow Megan's blog, fbook and twitter for updates, my other friend, Leslie, from high school also started dealing with another situation requiring many prayers...

Leslie's son, Jace, was adopted by her when he was an infant. You see, he was a baby born from a mother addicted to meth who couldn't care for him. My friend, his NICU nurse and single woman, decided this little fighter needed a mommy who could give him a real life. After all, he was the sickest baby the NICU had ever seen and somehow managed to fight through.

He just passed this third birthday....and doctors are taking him off a ventilator today as I type this. Someone (there is a criminal investigation so I cannot say more, but if you read the blog below, you'll figure it out...and it was not my friend), shook him so very hard, it sent poor little 3 year old Jace to the ICU....and it was too much for this little boy to fight against.

Today, he passes into Heaven and I know the family would appreciate as many thoughts and prayers as you can muster... I can't being to describe how saddened I am for this little boy and his family...

To read the story, please go to Jace's aunt's blog...

*****************

I also urge all of you to send a prayer to Megan and her family down in Texas right now, especially baby Cohen, if you haven't already. This little guy has been stable for 48 hours so it's obvious the prayers and thoughts and love are starting to be answered! Let's all keep it up b/c he definitely needs us...

I'd never realized how capable such tiny people are of fighting through such difficult obstacles so early in life....

Weekend Recap!

Before I get into the recap, have to be sure to post this awesome little guy! Cooper was born last week and I'm so glad I was able to sneak away from work for an hour or so with Jenny and Brooke to visit mama and baby! :) Welcome to the world, Cooper!
Ashley and Cooper :) I'm so so so happy he's here, but I have to admit I'm going to miss my email and frozen yogurt break time friend for 12 weeks! (We work in the same building) :)
Me, my awkward bangs, and baby Cooper :)
Friday rolled around and Eric and I opted to switch things up (no Mexican restaurant *gasp*) and head to Skiatook Lake (about 20-25 minutes) to grab dinner at the lakeside grill at Cross Timbers. If you're in the area and looking for something different, I highly recommend. It's nothing fancy-I had a quesadilla and Eric had a burger-but sitting outside overlooking the lake with a little breeze as the sun went down, sipping a beer, isn't a bad way to spend a Friday night. :)
Eric "You're not scared of spiders, are you?"
Me "Not really, why...OHMYGOSH! That thing is HUGE!"
*meet our friend who came to dinner, Mr. Tarantula*
Our view from our table.. :)
Saturday, I was so.freaking.productive. I worked out (I'm really getting proud of myself with my gym streak lately, although I'm an admitted binger and purger on workout weeks...all or nothing...not good), came home and did yard work, came inside and cleaned the wood floor and mopped the kitchen floor, and cleaned the bathroom.

Eric digs Anthony Bourdain so I'd gotten us tix to see him live in Tulsa awhile ago. :) And I don't know if I told you, but he passed his most recent CPA exam (YAY!!!!!) so I opted to surprise him with dinner at his fav place, Stonehorse. :) We hadn't been in forever (that's code for dessert was totally justified...)

The show was really funny... He opened it up for questions at the end and I'm pretty sure he now thinks all Tulsans are idiots. Way to represent, peeps. Wow. A drunk woman, a woman telling him he was her "dirty chef daddy" or something to that effect, and lots of other people. At.the.performing.arts.center. Wow. And also, since when did people think jeans and shorts were okay for the performing arts center? Sheesh. Anyhoo, good show. Good show indeed. :)

Oh and one thing that made me never want to eat hamburgers again.. He said a process is approved in the states whereby meat is soaked in AMMONIA to make the parts we never used to eat now safe for consumption. I came home and researched and..yeah.. he was right. So.grossed.out.
Met up with some friends at Enso, a little downtown cocktail lounge afterward...
Sunday, went to go visit the new parents, Ashley and Lee. :) I think I'm in love with their child. He's so freaking adorable, peeps. I mean seriously.. just scroll back up and look at the pic... See? Adorable.

Then, ran errands and came home to find little G limping and whimpering. I picked her up and she nestled her head into my chest and closed her eyes as she held up her foot in pain. 5 minutes later, we were en route to the vet... Seems poor little pup has torn some tissue or sprained her leg jumping up and down. :( If it doesnt get better in 48 hours, we're going back for (very expensive) xrays. Cross your fingers for my little pup that nothing's broken. They didn't think it was.

She's getting crated tomorrow, but shhh she doesnt know (not that she'll care..haha). Here she is eating laying down, which she never does. Poor baby!
Okay, I've rambled enough. :) Tomorrow night, Eric and I have a black tie event and I'm kinda excited to get all dressed up! Pics soon! Hope you had a great weekend!

Elevator Awkwardness

(no this is not my elevator.. stolen from internet)

This morning, I was happy to begin a new day...and a FRIDAY at that...and holding my pepsi as I boarded the elevator to head up to my floor. I heard quick clack clack of heels so I held the doors for two women. They boarded and this is the annoying thing that ensued:

Lady 1: *looks at me* "See, here's an example right in front of us." (in annoyed voice)
Lady 2: "She's going to think we're talking about her now."
Lady 1: "Well, we are."
Lady 2 to me: "Sorry.. I work in X building and just said to my friend I didn't realize so many young people worked in this building. It'd intimidate me...haha.." (trying to make it less awkward and not succeeding)
Me: "Hmm..." *annoyed and expressionless*

*awkward silence for 2 more floors*

Doors open, and I exit with a b*tchy look on my face I totally let them see that read "grow.up." as I laughed and shook my head. Hope that made them feel dumb. Hmph!

What I wanted to say was something more like:
"oh yeah that makes perfect sense...we ran all the old people out of the building and stuck them in the X building because they smelled like, well, old people. How did you two get out?”

But, I refrained. And I didn't let them ruin my Friday. Hmph.

At least they called me young.. *shrugs*

Randomtown

In an effort to embrace the honesty of the bloggidy I've left behind a little recently...but mostly just because I'm feeling random...

A few things...

1. I 'rescue' random dogs when I see them wandering. In other words, I chase them down to see if they have a tag. Yesterday, I almost got bitten by a little (like 20lb) dog trying to look at it's collar. It wasn't pretty... unless you were watching from a window nearby in which case, I bet it was pretty funny to watch my chasing a little dog in my workout clothes as it scurried away.

2. I dont believe beach vacations should include casinos. I dont want a casino anywhere near my peaceful beach vacay. Seriously one of the first things I look at when searching for vacations.

3. It pisses me off when people post negative comments on other people's happy posts on facebook, etc. If you have nothing nice to say, don't waste your time commenting.

4. I've been feeling out of shape and am starting to get off my arse and do something about it. WOOHOO! I just wish I was one of those morning worker-outer people. But, alas, I am not.

5. Did I tell you some vandals spray painted cars on my street? I moved from a sketchy neighborhood downtown...to a safe neighborhood...and NOW I'm getting vandalized? haha.. great. Thankfully, it came off my car with an awesome product (forgot the name) and I hope those jerks don't come back.

6. I hate checking voicemail. I'm REALLY bad at it. I have 9 vmails right now and I guarantee you the first one is from over a week ago. It's kinda ridiculous really.

7. Getting work emails at night/weekends is funny/weird to me (b/c I can see em on my phone). I'm not used to it yet since I used to have a separate work blackberry, but now it's all just one device for work and personal. Check it? Don't check it? Respond? Don't? AGH! haha!

8. I type really loudly. I know this. I think of myself as the girl from Up in the Air saying "I type with purpose." (that's just how I rationalize my heavy fingers apparently).

9. I love movie previews at the theater. LOVE! If we're going to miss the previews, I get kinda cranky.. haha.. :)

10. I've been thinking of pampering myself with a massage lately.. I havent had one since 2008 when I fractured vertebrae in my back and am totally ready for one now! :)

Anyway...there's some randomness for a Monday... Hope ya'll had a good start to your week! Lates! :)

Weekend Recap!

Heya! How was the weekend?! Mine was summertastic. I took a lot of photos, so I'll just dive right in...

Thursday, headed to an outdoor concert at Utica Square (kinda like a small version of the Plaza in Kansas City). It's weekly all summer long and last year, I didnt go once. *head hung in shame* I'm one of those people who get all puffed up and defensive when someone says there's nothing to do in Tulsa b/c there IS plenty to do if you just look for it.. and yet I didn't go to Utica once last year.. haha.. Whatever. Grabbed our lawn chairs (and some vino) and hung out with the rest of the crowd. (Ps.. some people bring entire picnic tables and meals. It's kinda hilarious. Just sayin.).
Friday, a group of us headed down to watch Tulsa T0ugh. It's an annual bike race through the streets of downtown (see.. plenty to do here!) It's actually become known as one of the top 5 pro races. Eric (who rides) explained the whole "team" biking thing to me which is actually quite interesting. I'll spare you, but I'm intrigued by it all. Anyway, good times...
The night was filled with....

....Eric photo bombing people.
...me making Eric pose cheesy-like in front of downtown....
...more racing...
....cow bells (you ring them as the runners pass to show support)
...the photo emotion game.. (Side note: Alove and I play it sometimes. Name an emotion and/or state of being...just before snapping a self portrait.) I dont know what the emotion was here (I'm lying.. I just dont want to disturb you), but it turned out awesomeness...
Tulsa T0ugh=good times.

Saturday, I was determined to run errands....until Sara text me "Wanna go to the pool at (guy she's dating's) house?" I mulled over it for about 30 seconds before rushing home and throwing on my swimsuit...
Saturday night, Eric and some friends headed to see Get Him to the Gre*k... It was HILARIOUS...except when it tried to get serious. But I just kinda ignore the serious part and am going with my verdict of hilarious.Annnnd b/c I never post pics (or even take them for that matter) of Eric and me at our favorite Mexican restaurant, I made his brother take one Saturday night. You can't really see the restaurant, but whatever.. it's for the memories, people.
Finally, I'm posting a photo of what my boyfriend (notice how I call him "my boyfriend" instead of his name whenever he totally shows me up? Yeah) made for dinner. Yes, he made awesome enchiladas and mine would have turned out looking like..well...probably not like this. I take that back.. I could make mine look like this if the Pioneer Woman had a recipe with photos. (Isn't she freaking awesome?!). Anyway.... hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Weekend Pics, etc...

So, it's obvious I'm trying to (1) find a new name for my blog and (2) a new layout. I've also been experimenting with photoshop to make a new banner and realized I have NO idea what I'm doing. (Advice appreciated on how to do it, where to find background patterns, etc). So, yeah...just hang with me here.. haha.. I'm DETERMINED to re-take my bloggidy so to speak. I think I just need some spring cleaning! I was gonna start a brand spankin new one, right? yeah. Well.. I might not. I might just continue blogging here...and if someone out there is reading and gets offended or whatever by something I say, then maybe they should re-evaluate reading...Hmph! I don't mean that snotty... I guess we've all likely had times where we start editing, not for who IS reading, but for who MIGHT be. Eh? Yeah. Soooo.. whatevs. I'm just gonna roll with it for now. *shrugs*

That said, I'm also trying to figure out how to get control of my personal email accts (including fbook, etc) while still being active on blogger. You see, I can't get personal email accts at work. Right now, I have 1277 emails in gmail...and yes, I'm serious. Some of them are read and some aren't (at least half aren't). With comment notifications, facebook notifications (how the hell do you turn those things OFF?!), spam from random stores, and actual person-to-person emails, it just gets whoa! And when I can't really check it til after work...when I've been on the computer all day... I'm noticing I just.don't.check.it.period. sometimes... *le sigh* If I'm not crazy slammed at work, I'm pretty good at checking personal email on my phone throughout the day and responding to things if I need to.. but if I get even a couple days behind, I'm so overwhelmed I just put it off... (lazy? yes.). Anyway, I notice I tend to just avoid the home computer on days/weeks when I know I'm behind on my personal emails and stuff....and that makes me avoid blogger, too. Am I alone in this? Do you get overwhelmed by all the random fbook notifications, etc out there sometimes?! (I'm totally overdramatizing this, aren't I?)

Welp, now that you've wasted a few minutes of your life reading my rants... As I watch SYTYCD (I'm so glad it's BACK!), I decided to stop searching for the perfect header/name/layout, and just post some darn pics from the weekend! :)

Friday, Eric and I had Indian food (yum!) and then headed to the Riverwalk for some live music, a festive beverage, and to meet Lauren! She was in town from the Chi this last weekend. :) It was SO crowded yet we managed to find a table immediately outside... fate? I think so.
Saturday, Eric and I headed to a pool shindig at his friends' new neighborhood pool. :)
Our skin hasn't seen this much sun since um... last September....
The rest of Saturday, I took a nap from too many poolside cocktails was pretty low key. ;) Side note: I also semi walked into a bush (unrelated to the cocktails I'm sure) and have an awesome and LARGE yellow/green/blue bruise with a scratch in the center. Things that are reliable: my clumsiness.

Sunday, hung with Lauren and ended up at Cosmos for some chillax dinner time :)
And then there was Monday. Eric and I started the day with a patio brunch. We parked his truck at the meter out front. Why does this matter? Oooooh b/c we heard a crash and saw his truck shake...b/c someone hit it. Thank GOSH we weren't getting in it, etc b/c I guarantee you Eric would have been hit. The guy was really apologetic and was moving so had a bunch of stuff in the car and likely just wasn't paying attn. Anyway, they're waiting on the estimate, but initial thoughts from some experts are that it's totaled. (Crazy, huh?!)

Eric was pretty cool about the whole thing; I mean sh*t happens. *shrugs* But, after towing the car, getting a rental, etc, it had been quite a few hours... soooo that was most of Monday. Finished with some super productive yard work which was followed immediately by nachos at a bar/grill. (Hello, it was a holiday.. nachos have no calories on holidays).

Pre side-swipe photo=all smiles....
Yesterday, I had a blah day at work. I don't know how else to explain it. I kinda had to play mediator about something relatively unimportant and had to deal with someone really.freaking.stubborn about communications. Then, I had a random, but emergent thing that kept me on the phone with IT until about 6something. I was just so freaking annoyed... And I hadn't left my desk all day (don't you hate those days?!), so I think I was just extra cranky. On that note, it's so weird how people don't really just chat with each other at my new office.. I mean.. I guess they do...but it's not in depth if that makes any sense. Neither here nor there, but yesterday, I was just over anything that started with "w" and ended in "ork." I called Eric and aside from listening to my rants, he offered to make dinner! Soooooo I grabbed some vino and headed his way for some yummy, Eric-prepared cuisine (he really can cook.. likely better than me, but don't let him know I said that).

At the rate I'm going, who knows when I'll get my happy little blogging self on here again, so ignore my random and lengthy diatribe from this post. Hope you're all having a great short week!
