Thankful Thursday...

I'm thankful for many, many things... but topping the list as of late is thankfulness that I'm going to be here....
...soon!

( Not soon enough..haha. )

I'm so ready for vacation.

Not just the vacation itself....but...

.. .to get away from all organizations I'm involved with...that I truly love, but ya know...
...to get away from the daily grind and my office cube w/o a window...
...to get away from email, from my cell phone...
...from noise and chatter...
...from business casual...

To just get away...
...with one of my favorite people...:)
*happy sigh*

Soooooooooooooooooooon.....

In the meantime, I'm off to scan some documents....yeehaw. Happy Thursday, peeps!

Weekend Recap! :)

Hi everyone! Remember that post below where I was all proud of myself for going to my trainer? Yeah, well.. my arms are JUST NOW feeling back to normal. I suppose that's good since yesterday morning was legs workout w/ the trainer...and they're currently so sore, I have to use the bathroom sink to lower myself onto the potty. TMI? Yeah, it's my blog. Whatever. YEEEEOUCH!

Okay, soooo... I have some SUPER exciting news!!! See the guy in the pic with me below? (also known as my boyfriend, Eric) :)... Well... HE PASSED HIS LAST CPA EXAM! I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR HIM! He found out Thursday and we immediately went for a couple drinks and some fat kid nachos at a local restaurant/bar! Official celebrations soon (once wedding season calms down). For peeps who don't know (b/c I didn't know either) the CPA is 4 exams, and most people take it over the course of a year or more. Eric started taking it last November and is now officially DONE! I seriously don't think it's hit either one of us that he's a CPA and done testing! So SO SO proud of him! The CPA was way crappier than the bar exam in many regards if you ask me. I got to pour it ALL into two months and one test. He had to study for 6 weeks...take a test...then start studying for the NEXT test before he even knew if he passed the first one. Icks. Anyway, I'm rambling, but I'm so happy!
The above is from the TU game Saturday....and WE FINALLY WON! I think it's b/c we were there. I'm just sayin.. haha.. ;)

And while I'm on the subject of the game, how freaking cute are these candy bar wrappers Eric's mom makes for the tailgates?! The best part... the ingredients listed on back= all the players names! ha!
After the game, we headed to Eric's friend's bday celebration at a new local bar called The Max (from Max Headroom if you remember that.. I'm old. Whatever). Anyway, it has tons of old school video games, skee ball, etc.. Awesome idea for a bar. We don't go out a ton (again with the "I'm old" comment), but I'd totally go back there! I also kicked Eric's @ss at skee ball. Just had to add that... He did, however, beat me at Pacman. ;)

Anyway, here's a shot from inside the bar...

***LAST WEEKEND****
I was a a slacker and never posted some pics from last weekend... We had a FABULOUS girls night on Saturday! And Kat came in town and surprised us! (That'd be Kat below making a face at the flaming volcano roll at sushi...haha..It was on FIRE, people!)
The group :)
Okay, the following pics are a random inside joke and you wouldn't think it was that funny if I told you. But, we laugh hysterically at it, so whatever.. haha.. Please note that we were all trying to keep a serious face...and it wasn't happening.. haha.. Sarah (far left) is the most hilarious!

Fabulous girls night for sure... :)

More from last weekend.. Eric and I went to the Rock N Ribs Fest in downtown. Some photos! :) Ps.. I work in one of those tall buildings in the skyline! :)
mmmm..bbq.. (and an oddly large beer can). And you'll see I'm wearing the same scarf that I wore to the game this weekend. Whatever.

***RANDOM***
And since my blogging sometimes falls by the wayside by midweek, I'll just keeeeeep on a talkin while I'm on here... So Eric is kinda well rounded. He passes CPAs, he builds things, and he makes cool art stuff for walls. What do I mean? Okay, the below is fabric stretched across a wood frame in Eric's bedroom...and he MADE it! I seriously wanted one, so I found some fabric...and asked very nicely.. and... I'll just let you see the pics!
The frame is built!
stapling fabric....
finished product in my room! It kinda makes everything else look small, but I don't care.. I love it! Major thanks to Eric! :)

So, this was a kinda random weekend recap post, huh? It was all over the board. Sorry about that.

I'm finally catching up on some dvr...including Glee's season premiere! With that, I'm signing off.. Hope you had a fabulous weekend, everyone! Can you BELIEVE this week starts October?! HOLY WOW!

Work it out

Remember the days where I used to blog everyday? Or at least the days I'd get my weekend recaps up on time? Yeah, me neither. Let's not talk about that... ;)

So, last night I pushup-ed. I boxed (with weights in each of my gloved fists, mind you). I rode a stationary bike (at level 7!) whilst balancing a medicine ball above my head.

Yeah, I went to my personal trainer for the first time.

And we worked on a little cardio, upper body, and some technique...but mostly upper body...for an HOUR.

Lemme tell you, peeps, I have never worked out my upper body for more than 15 minutes at a time soooo yeah.

It made me realize my upper body is incredibly out of shape...and I'm not pushing myself nearly enough at the gym on my own. B/c I CAN do it; I'm just NOT doing it.

So it was a good lesson. Why did I get the personal trainer? (not sure if I explained that) Well, I've been wanting to for AWHILE but don't want to go to the ones at my gym. I'd heard good things about a place in Tulsa.. and when I saw groupon was offering three personal training sessions at that place for a HUGE discount (seriously.. like 80% off), I jumped at the chance to try it out. I just wondered if I was even doing the right things to get the results I want, ya know. And what if I was doing something bad for my perma-injured back and didn't even know it? So, a personal trainer sounded like a good idea.

So, anyway, figured I wouldnt really be out much if I hated it b/c it was uber cheap.
But I definitely didn't hate it! I wish I could have a trainer all the time! ha!

I'm sore today. And I kinda have to focus on where I want my arms to go before I move them...haha... But, um..he wants me to come back tomorrow and Saturday. I didn't think we'd be doing all three sessions IN A ROW like this. Sheesh. I'm contemplating canceling tomorrow, going Saturday, and then going my third time next week sometime.

At one point, I pointed out the backs of my thighs and was like "I want to tone THIS" with a semi disgusted face. His response? "Well, you realize you can't just target that area. You have to step up your cardio and do all over workouts to see changes." I thought "I think I love his advice, but did he just confirm that I need to make changes on the backs of my thighs...haha..." I laughed to myself about that one. Don't ask the question if you don't want the answer, I suppose...

At one point, he threw me on the bike and had me pedal quickly as he increased resistance. He handed me a light medicine ball and had me hold it above my head as I pedaled. After all the pushups and punching and yada yada, I seriously felt like one of the Biggest L0ser contestants as my arms slowly lowered the ball no matter how much my brain willed my arms to stay above my head! I was trying SO HARD to keep them up there! Jax=weakling.

What's your LEAST favorite workout? Is it cardio? Weights? Do you hate yoga? I seriously have to make myself do cardio b/c I loathe it.

Booty Building Secrets from Trainer Dave!

Happy Monday, blogtastic friends! :) So, my friend, Dave (and also my BFF's husband) is a trainer. A very good trainer I might add... He was actually just offered (and accepted) a really kick @ss training job, so the two of them will be moving far far away soon... Exciting and sad at the same time. Anyhoo, he's got a fitness blog and the stuff he posts about is really good! I've seen some of you lovelies post some awesome fitness tips (and I've tried quite a few) so I thought I'd share some stuff I like to read from Trainer Dave's blog! Today's blog is about booty building and um....who doesn't want a refined gluteus maximus?! I'm just sayin...

To check out his blog, click here! He gives awesome tips and is worth following if you're lookin to get fit. Here's today's post! Some of these would likely help me if they had a corresponding photo. I'm not coordinated. I'll just admit that now. But, still plenty of good info!

Booty Building Secrets!
Posted: 20th September 2010 by admin in General, Uncategorized, Work Out, fitness

Seems like everyone has been asking how to shape up their behind lately, so I’ve decided to let you in on a few closely-guarded booty-building secrets.

Many clients have one of the following things to say about their bum: 1) Help! My bum is too big; 2) Help! My bum is too saggy; or 3) Help! My bum is too flat.
Now let’s tackle each of these challenges with solutions that will give you the best booty ever!

I. Help! My bum is too big.
If you are suffering from an over sized behind then do the following 3 fat-blasting workouts to reduce, tighten and shape your bum.
Fat-Blaster #1: Run
Running is a great way to burn off extra body fat while developing strong glutes. Follow these 4 tips to target your glutes while running:

1.To target your glutes focus on extending your hips and keeping your chest lifted.

2.Roll all the way forward onto your toes with each step, in order to engage more of your glutes.

3.Run up hills, stairs, or on the treadmill at an incline.

4.Run on a sandy beach or gravel path – the uneven surface forces you to work harder to stabilize your lower body.

Fat-Blaster #2: Elliptical
The elliptical works well for streamlining your behind – but only when used properly. Follow these 4 tips to get the most from your elliptical workout:
1.Posture matters. Don’t drape your upper body over the front of the elliptical machine – this will bring the focus to your quads and lower back instead of your glutes. Instead keep your back straight and posture good.

2.Put the incline of your machine higher than seven percent. This will ensure that the emphasis is on your glutes instead of your quads.

3.Push down with your heels with each stride. Also sink down into a squat for 30 second intervals while striding.

4.Let go of the handles. This will force your core to stabilize you.

Fat-Blaster #3: Swim
Swimming laps is a sure way to burn tons of calories. Follow these 4 tips to get the most from your time in the pool:
1.Start each lap with an explosive push from the wall. Place the soles of your feet flat against the side of the pool, bend your knees and explode forward with your legs.

2.Use flippers. Sounds silly, but try a few laps with a kickboard and flippers and you’ll quickly feel the intense emphasis on your glutes.

3.Vary your kick. Go from flutter to froggy kicks to target all of your glutes.

4.Try some in-water squat jumps: stand in chest-level water with feet shoulder width apart, toes turned out. Bend your knees and lower your hips down then explode upward, pushing through your heels.

II. Help! My bum is too saggy.
The solution to a saggy bottom is to target your glutes. Try the following 3 bum-lifting exercises at home – these require no equipment.

Bum-Lifting Exercise #1: Hyperextension with leg curl
Lie facedown on the floor with your arms extended above your head and knees together. Bend your knees and curl your heels toward your glutes, contracting your glutes. Lower your feet back toward the floor, raise your chest and shoulders up and hold for one count before returning to the start position. Do 15 repetitions.

Bum-Lifting Exercise #2: Plank pull
Get into a plank position with hands directly under your shoulders and feet spaced shoulder width apart. Contract your core, lift your left leg with flexed foot, then raise your heel up in a quick motion for 15 reps. Keep your core contracted throughout the exercise and back flat. Repeat with right leg.

Bum-Lifting Exercise #3: Side-lying bicycle
Lie on your right side with your elbow directly under your shoulder and legs stacked on top of each other. Bend your right knee back slightly. Lift your left leg about 6 inches into the air, then draw if forward to a 90 degree angle, keeping your foot flexed. Swing your leg back, pointing your toe and extending your lower back. Do 15 repetitions and then repeat with right leg.

III. Help! My bum is too flat.
In order to build a shapely behind you’ll need to head to the gym. The following 3 booty-building exercises will give your bum a serious shape-changing workout.

Booty-Building Exercise #1: Dumbbell Squat
Place your feet wider than shoulder width apart, and turn toes out. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides. Inhale as you squat down, keeping your back straight and tummy pulled in. Exhale as you press up through your heels and return to a standing position. Do 15 repetitions.

Booty-Building Exercise #2: Dumbbell Lunge
Stand with feet together and a dumbbell in each hand at your sides. Inhale as you lunge forward, keeping your lunging knee directly over your ankle. Exhale as you push off with your lunging heel, and return to the starting position. Do 15 repetitions and repeat on the other leg.

Booty-Building Exercise #3: Straight-legged Deadlift
Stand with feet shoulder width apart, a dumbbell in each hand with palms facing your thighs. Inhale as you bend forward at the hips, keeping your back flat. Lower the dumbbells down until you feel a pull in your hamstrings. Keep the dumbbells close to your legs as you exhale and straighten your legs, focusing on contracting your glutes. Do 15 repetitions. As you progress try a single leg as shown in the picture.

The Better Booty Diet
Want to boost your booty results? Then get a handle on your diet.Oversized portions add extra calories to your diet, resulting in a bigger booty than you bargained for.To cut your bum down to size, simply eat wholesome unprocessed foods in controlled portions.

White Bean Hummus

Use this white bean hummus instead of creamy dressings or cheese in your sandwich. The hummus is filled with protein and fiber – both important for building your best booty.

Servings: 8
Here’s what you need:
•2 cans white beans, drained and rinsed
•1 small onion, chopped
•3 cloves garlic, minced
•1/4 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
•1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
•Juice of 1 lemon
•1 teaspoon olive oil
•1/2 teaspoon dried basil
•1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
•dash of salt

1.Throw everything into the food processor and blend until smooth and creamy.
2.Spread onto bread or use as a dip for cut veggies.
Nutritional Analysis: One serving equals: 124 calories, 1.6g fat, 20g carbohydrate, 5.5g fiber, and 7g protein.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

So, my blog friend, Katie does this segment called the good, the bad, and the ugly. Since I'm having a bit of blogger's block, I thought it'd be a good way to get some stuff on paper...er... the web.. today. :) Soooo here goes my attempt!

The good: I finally remembered to call my dermatologist today to get my yearly checkup appt soon!

The bad: I walked all the way downstairs to get some privacy when I called b/c I dunno about you, but I didn't really want all my coworkers to know I'm going to the dermatologist. It's just weird. Anyway, after going all the way down, the doc's office was closed today. Arg!

The ugly: I have a spot on my leg that I'm convinced is nothing good. WHY did I tan so much back in the day?! Mad at myself. Hopefully I'll get in soon!

***********
The good: I got the groupon for a personal trainer! 3 sessions for 39 bucks! Um. AWESOME.

The bad: I really need to call to do it before Maui, but just haven't...

The ugly: my @ss..that is, unless I get gym-motivated again. This week has been bananas! I've only made it once.

***********
The good: Went to an event last night representing the young alum group I'm chairing! Was hoping to get more volunteers and got a few!

The bad: Met a guy who kinda gave me a random/weird vibe, but wanted to get involved...

The ugly: I put my digits on my handout. And um.. he text me last night...three times. Freaking great. *eye roll* haha..

***********
The good: I don't have a wedding to attend this weekend! I will likely have an incredibly good time drinking wine with my girl friends on Saturday night and laughing at randomness.

The bad: *thinking..thinking* There is no bad.

The ugly: Me if I have too much wine on Saturday night.

************
The good: We have AWESOME frozen yogurt in our building in a cafe downstairs.

The bad: I went with my coworker, got some, and ATE IT ALL. *head hung in shame*

The ugly: I reiterate that I haven't scheduled that personal trainer yet sooo yeah. Oh and I plan on going to a ribs festival tonight. Ribs, fro yo (yeah, I just called it fro yo), some chocolate, AND lots of caffeine today. *whoops* This whole "I will be super healthy before my vacay" doesn't seem to be working.. *furrowed brows*

Happy Friday, peeps! Hope you have a fantastic weekend! And GOOOOO TU!!!!!!!! We're playing another in-state game tomorrow, so can't wait to see what happens! :) Cheer for Tulsa; we need it!

Hugs, not drugs...

I really like the subject line and used to say it um... all the time. I really wanted a tee shirt that said it, but couldn't find one and lost interest. Anyway, that's all irrelevant. I really just wanted to let you peeps know...

I heart you! Whenever I need to vent, rant, need opinions, want to celebrate, or just want to talk about randomness, ya'll are there. I read every single comment and appreciate you peeps' often-quite-thoughtful responses. I'm not the best at writing back in email sometimes b/c I can't access personal email at work (which is admittedly likely a very good thing), but I'm definitely getting better! (In other words, if you have a question and I didn't write back, feel free to harass me..hah!) ;) Sometimes I find that when I'm having a hard time with something, I'll find one of you having a very relatable experience at the same time. It's crazy! Do you ever do that?! And even if I'm in a funk and read one of ya'll's blogs and you've just gotten some outstanding news or are having a great day, it kinda cheers me up.. unless I'm in a REALLY bad mood...and then I'm likely not on the internet b/c I'm off being grumpy somewhere... haha.. ;)

I feel like I've got a ton of pen pals. (Remember pen pals?! Did you ever have one?! Wow, I'm kinda a.d.d. right now) So yeah... thank you all for rocking this midwestern girls' world (yes, I consider OK in the midwestish).  :)

So, here's a hug from my blog to yours! (How cute are these little girls?!)

And randomly, but this picture is kinda creepy, right? I looked up hug on google and this came up. I mean.. it kinda applies.. She's hugging text... like a blog... er...or.. maybe I'm just reaching here. Whatever. My mind goes "creepy...or cool...................no it's creepy..." haha!

Weekend Recap...ON TIME for once! ;)

Hiiiiiiiiii everyone! How was your weekend?!

Mine?

Fabtastic, but BUSY! Why?

Well...I got to spend time with some fabulous friends at a bachelorette party, went to a surprise brunch for one of my first college friends to turn the big three-oh, volunteered at my former university, and autumn-ized my casa!

But, the best part is...

Do you remember this post where I talked about the handbag I saw a month or so ago and fell in love with b/c it seriously is the PERFECT bag? Do you remember how I said I'd been looking for a bag like this for um... years? But, I just couldn't justify it right now with lots of wedding showers and other events plus Maui?

Okay, so Friday night, Eric and I went to a chillax dinner. It'd been a long week for us both and we were looking forward to stuffing our faces with chips and salsa and doing a big fat nothing. So, alllllll the way there I bitched discussed how, while I love being involved and invited, having a wedding related activity and/or other thing EVERY weekend lately was really bogging me down...and breaking the bank. (So basically I was whining a lot and likely being annoying) So, after a beer and some guacamole, life was all good again.. haha... Anyway, we got in the car and Eric took my handbag from me and put it in the backseat.

I thought "well, that was nice" and said thank you.. Then, he said "here's your handbag" and I said "No, you can leave it back there" semi confused....

...until he pulled out THE bag....
I love that guy....a lot.

I gasped and said "No.you.didn't." And then, things got a little blurry... like literally...b/c I got tears in my eyes...haha.. Here I'd been a whiney moron the early part of the evening and Eric went and was so freaking thoughtful. Good grief I don't deserve him sometimes... a lot of times...

After lots of thank yous and hugs and staring at the leather bag, I had Eric take my photo with it...haha! I then proceeded to embrace the bag. Yeah, I did. I'm not going to be a cheesy mess here, but if I could put into words how much I appreciate Eric, you all would stop reading my blog b/c you'd never make it through the post... I don't deserve the bag...or Eric sometimes...but I'm certainly extremely happy and lucky to have them both... :)

Okay, stop gagging now and let's move forward.... ;)

Saturday night, headed out for Carrie's bachelorette party! She's in the middle in the bright dress. Eric was at the groom's bachelor party out of town at the same time. :) Eric went to high school with the groom...and we both went to college with the bride. I'm 99.9% sure they actually met through Eric (he's thoughtful AND a matchmaker. I'm just sayin...).

We started the night at one of the girl's houses where we played a game involving wearing a..ahem...headband...and throwing rings over it. These pics likely won't make the facebook album, but the whole thing was freaking hilarious!

Sunday morning, a group of Brooke's friends and family gathered at a local eatery for a surprise 30th birthday brunch! She's the first girlie in our group in T-town to hit the big dirty thirty so we decided do something fun! :)

Andrew, Sarah, and their adorable little guy....
The birthday girl, Brooke, her hubs, and their cutetastic son (you'll start to see a trend that all my friends have little boys...)
Ashley, Lee, and the newest member of the little basketball team in the making (haha)...
Jenny, Jeff, and their adorable kiddo.....

And last but not least, me and my family...er...child....er...handbag.... haha.. I totally had Sarah take this to be funny after all the family photos...

The girlies...
They're buddies and it's seriously adorable.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend, peeps! How did it go by so quickly?! Sheesh... But, the good thing about Monday this week... GOSSIP G!RL IS BACK! Do you watch?! I'm so excited! We're having a lil premiere party at our house!

(Last) Weekend Recap! And Um.. Other Stuff, too.. :)

Yeah yeah, I'm way behind on my photos. *head hung in shame* Hell, I'm way behind in my blogging this week. I miss you, peeps. Here's why I've been MIA. And yeah, it's a lot of text. Skip ahead to the pictures if you're bored. :)

Tuesday- dinner with a fabulous friend in town also known as my former boss from my previous jobbidy! In the past few weeks, I've hung quite a bit with my former co-workers turned friends (not that they weren't friends as coworkers. haha..). It makes me SO happy that we've been staying in touch, lest you remember my tearfest when I left there like "*sob sob* I'm worried I won't see them again..*" I'm so overdramatic sometimes. ( <-- I rarely admit that and mean it. LOL!).

Wednesday- Friend intervention about a boy. It was unplanned. It was necessary. It involved wine and a cheeseplate. ha! All is good in the land of friendship once again. Gotta get each others backs, ya know? :)

Thursday- Dinner with my best friend, Blaze! Hadn't seen each other in FOREVAH, so it was awesome! We talked about excitingness, so stay tuned for more on that sometime.

Friday- Oh, right.. That's today. Well, today was the Day of Caring! At 6:30 am, I met a thousand other peeps for the 19th Tulsa Day of Caring Kickoff! Do you participate in Day of Caring in your city? Didya know Tulsa has one of the largest in the NATION?! Yeah. We do. Awesome. Oh.. let me rewind.. I got to the Day of Caring Kickoff AFTER I cleaned the cat poop off Gracie's face b/c she thought that was a brilliant thing to stick her face in at 5:45 am in the dark backyard. Ugh. And after having to wake up my roomie and her best friend who had apparently crashed after having a little too much vino last night...but were parked BEHIND me. They don't work on Fridays, so I'm sure my 6am wakeup call making them move the car kinda sucked. *shrugs*

Friday lunch- a tidbit I haven't shared.. I went to lunch with a friend from my former University. We were chatting about plans b/c... I'm the new chair of the Young Alumni! Fun stuff! I might pick ya'll's brains for some ideas... if you don't mind. We need to build alumni engagement.. a lot.

And now... on to some PHOTOS!

Happy Birthday to Eric! Happy Birthday to Eric! I played with Picnik Photo Editing! Happy Birthday to Eric!

Friday's sushi dinner with some of his friends :)
Eric likes presents.
Pretending his gift is a shake weight. Yes, he really is. (and no, it wasn't a shake weight).
I got him some boots he was wanting. No idea what kind of face he's making. He obviously loves them.
Note: Never arch your back and conceal it with your arm accidentally. You will look like you have a baby belly. Just sayin. Example below. (This was at dinner at the new W0lfgang Puck's in Tulsa!)
Brunching it up at a local place with a fun patio :) I wore my hat. And my TU gear...b/c we went to watch 4 hours of the TU game only to have them lose in the last 5 seconds the TU game after brunch..
We also went to a couples shower for some friends. Well, obviously they were our friends b/c I guess we wouldn't go to a random person's wedding shower. Whatever. I played with Picnik photo editing again. :)
From the couples shower, we headed to another friend's OU watch party. Unlike TU, they won. People cheersed with beverages a lot. See below for example.
Lauren was also in town from the Chi! I didn't get to see her as much as I would have liked or take any good photos, but glad we got to hang for a little bit. :)

Oh, and I went a little darker with the hair! But, um.. a lot of people don't seem to notice. Or maybe they notice and they haven't said anything b/c they hate it. Bastards. Whatever, I like it. And for those of you reading who DID notice and said something to me this week, you rock. Love you. :)
So, there's a weekend recap and lots of other jazz you prolly didn't care about.. just in time for this weekend.. haha.. Maybe I'll be more timely next week. *shrugs*

What's on your agenda for the weekend? Now that you've read all the randomness of my life, I'll tell you one more thing.. I have a bachelorette party for a friend tomorrow night! YEEHAW! Should be fun. Would have been more fun if it wasn't TU's first home game but ya know. Whatever. Football comes and goes; friends are forever. *insert awwwww*

Have a great weekend, loves! I'm out. *throwing up peace sign and pursed lips*

About blogging...

Great post from The Pioneer Woman about blogging. :) (Don't you just LOVE her?! I do.)

Ten important things I've learned about blogging

I'll try to upload some pics from the weekend later, but wanted to share the above! :) And also, I haven't gotten to write you back individually yet b/c I can't access personal email at work and using my leetle buttons to type from my phone semi frustrates me sometimes... but THANK YOU (<-- all caps necessary to indicate appreciation) to those of you with tips about boots! I eagerly wrote all brands down and plan to be a google searching freak at some point soon! haha! :)

Hope this short week is treating you well! Looking forward to catching up with the bloggidy world lata from the comfort of my cozy casa on this rainy day....

Approaching Autumn....

What a great weekend! Hope the long weekend treated you well, friends!

I have pics, but I need to upload them. (You're reading that sentence a lot lately). Plus, blogger is kinda a beast lately with uploading pics, so it's not enticing to start the process I suppose... Anyhoo, Eric had a good birthday! (unless he lied to me..haha!) Thanks for all the wishes! Thanks for all the comments on the after Labor Day white wearing, too! :) Honestly, I TRY to follow the rule, but it's mostly b/c it's a rule and not b/c I actually believe in it one way or another. I just don't want to be "that girl" at the party or whatever in a white linen dress. I just have this vision of Blair and Serena (Goss!p Girl reference) whispering about me or something. :) That said, I haven't packed away my white shirts, etc quite yet. I'm also fully convinced there are no rules in paradise/Maui. Therefore, my white pants are well within the boundaries there. ;)

Speaking of, I feel like Maui will NEVER get here. But, I'm halfway okay with that b/c I need to seriously take my spending down a hundred decibels before we actually go on vacay. Goodbye lunch dates and hellllllllo microwave meals.

Are you guys so excited fall is around the corner?! I lurve fall.... just hate that winter inevitably follows. I can't wait for the spicy scents, football games, brisk mornings, colorful leaves, pumpkin spice beverages....ahhh... *happy sigh* I'm definitely going to miss looking out my office window (at my former job) and watching the nearby trees turn. Maybe I can pretend my cube walls turn colors? Eh? Yeah prolly not. (Making mental note to change screen saver at work to something fallish).

But, um.. if we have a winter like we had last year...WHOA. I know what you're thinking if you live north of me, and believe me, I'm not trying to compare. That said, Tulsa is just not equipped to deal with the snowy/icy crap we've been getting in recent years. It just comes down to what the city can handle in terms of equipment/manpower in some regards. I mean... a few years ago, ice took out power for 13 days! (for me, that is. Newer areas of town were only out a few days). Last year, we had so much snow (and not enough plows) that everyone was literally stranded for around 3 days at Christmas. (Mom and I had a lot of wine and sat in our pjs. Not horrible but still).

So, if you're reading this and your city gets snow, I have a question....

Do you have any recs for good snow boots?!

I want some that are decently cute, warm, waterproof, good traction (I'm clumsy). Yup. That's about it in terms of requirements. Last year, I just couldn't justify it even though my old ones sometimes get water in them. I thought "Well, winter won't be THAT bad. I don't need to spend $$ on boots." Um. That was a HUGE mistake. When it got crappy, boots were already all sold out everywhere online and in stores. After a winter of wearing the leaky boots, I'm officially ready to add some new ones to my shopping list in the coming months.

And b/c I can't end this post on something about winter b/c it makes me shiver, exhale happily with me as you look at this pic. Doesn't it make you want to go talk a walk by the water, wearing a fall scarf and long sleeves, while sipping a pumpkin spice or hot cider? :) Have a good Tuesday, peeps! :)

Thursday Thoughts

Just some randomness...

* I finally switched over to the new blogger posting tool or whatever. Let's see how this post shapes out. -Shrugs-

* Two weekends ago started absolute shower/wedding madness for Eric and me. What is the maddess, you ask? Well, two weekends ago, I attended a baby shower followed immediately by a wedding shower that night. Last weekend-bridal shower. This weekend-couples shower. Next weekend-bachelorette party. Following weekend-FREE! YAY! TU FOOTBALL! Weekend after- wedding. Weekend after that-wedding. THEN HAWAII!!!!! Then, we have a rehearsal dinner then wedding the weekend we arrive back from Hawaii.

And then the maddess ends. For a little bit. And my bank account recovers in time for the beating it will take at the holidays. haha...

* Along the lines of the holidays, someone facebooked "FOUR MONTHS TIL CHRISTMAS" last week and I kinda wanted to punch them in the face. It's summer. No holiday talk yet. Except I really do want a pumpkin spice from Starbucks...like NOW! And that drink kinda reminds me of fall/holidays, so whatever... but still. No Christmas countdowns yet.

* This weekend is Eric's birthday! How comedic is it that we were both born on holiday weekends when there's typically no one in town and limited things to do that are open?! (I'm the 3rd of July). Anyhoo, I'm kinda excited b/c I really like (1) birthdays (2) spoiling people I care about and (3) celebrations. Soooo.. yeah. Oh, and dessert. I like dessert. Duh. I guess he was born on actual Labor Day and his mom was asked "how did it feel to be laboring on labor day?!" You moms out there can likely imagine the look she prolly gave them b/c it's the same one I would have given. haha..

* I dont understand why people don't have facebook walls. Are you that scared of what someone is going to post there? If so, that makes me incredibly nervous about being your friend, you closet psycho. Teasing, but really...

Happy Thursday, peeps! Hope you're gearing up for a fabulous long weekend ahead!

Ooooh and while I'm on this topic, I'll leave ya with a question....

After Labor Day... White or no white?
