Weekend Recap!

Here I sit, finally watching the Bachelorette from last week and blogging about the weekend. :) How was yours? Good? Hot? We actually got a little rain the past couple days...and it has been so very needed here.

Sooo this weekend, Eric and I headed on a float trip with some coworkers. I was a little nervous because  it kinda feels like you're walking on the sun when you're outside in this heat, but it was actually really fun! We had some clouds and even a little rain on part of the trip, which likely helped a lot. :)

Oh wait... rewind... *sound of hitting the brakes here* Eric and I went and grabbed Mexican food on Friday night (mmmmm....guacamole) and then headed to see if I could quickly find some sandals before the float trip. We got into a discussion about how I'm incredibly, mind-blowingly a tinge clumsy and how I should quit wearing cheapo depo flip flops or whatever when hiking, floating, etc b/c they likely don't make it any better. He convinced me to go try on some Chacos annnnnnd guess what happened... I freaking accidentally SAT on the corner of the shoebox...and cut the back of my leg open. on the shoebox. It was super graceful. And I was bleeding at Sun & Ski. haha.. wow. So yeah, decision was made and the fabulous Chacos below were purchased... :) I kinda love them by the way... Comfy, cute, and they keep me from falling! If only I could wear Chocos to work... or if someone could just make high heels as comfy as Chacos...

Okay, so Saturday morning, I got my trusty fedora, neck koozie, and Chacos and we hit the road... :)
Stopped at a gas station right by the river... Glad they reminded patrons of the necessities... ya know milk, bread, drinks, ....smokes (?) haha... Random.
Eric brought a one man raft... that may or may not be Nascar themed....and we may or may not refer to it as "the river racer." He cracks me up! Check him out, just leisurely floating behind us...lol! He shared the river racer with his fellow floaters, of course...

Today was Heather's baby shower! It was super cute and little Kaylee received lots of really thoughtful gifts. :) We played a couple of games that were actually really cute! I mean, I am usually the anti-game shower-goer, but these were quite good. They passed around pink yarn and people had to cut off a string that they thought measured Heather's baby bump. The below pic is her adorable son testing his yarn. So cute. And then they blindfolded the hostess (her twin sister!) & Heather and had them dress baby dolls as quickly as possibly-from diapers to socks to little Baby Gap outfits... Comedy!

 Me with the gorgeous mamma!
Little Kaylee is gonna be quite the fashionista! Check out her little True Religion skirt...ha! So adorable!

So long and short, beat the heat this weekend with some good friends and good times...

Next weekend is an annual girls trip with some college friends-excited!

I don't know what the heck I'll blog about in September when all the babies, weddings, events, etc come to a close... haha... I'll come up with something. ;)

Happy last week in July, friends! <-- whoa, right?!

Fashion Random Friday

I kinda smell today. Seriously. I ran out of my Olay Quench moisurizer lotion (the best eva) to mix with my self tanning lotion and I smell like fritos. (Is it just me or does some self tanner smell a little like fritos? Yeah, I'm weird. Sorry).

Anyhoo, I'd saved a few random images on blogger this week of things I'm randomly wanting in the fashion world and thought I'd just go ahead and post. :)

1. Denim shirt. I totally want one! I think this trend has been around awhile and I've just been ignoring it or not into it or who the heck knows. But lately, I just.freaking.want.one. And I cant find one anywhere...which makes me want one more. (Duh). As a random piece of comedy, I knew this trend hit a little bit ago and I was like "Wait, are they still 'in' b/c I can't FIND one..." Soooo I totally asked my favorite blogger fashionista, Leslie. And she confirmed. :) Phew. I mean, how cute would it be with some shorts on my upcoming San Fran trip?!
Yup, totally posted a photo of Vanessa Hudgeons.
Does that feel weird to get fashion inspiration from someone who can barely legally drink? Totally. Whatever.
2. Lace monogram necklace. I dig em. I want one. Even on etsy, they're a leetle pricey for just a little trend. If you know of any affordable ones, please advise.
3. Maxi skirt! This trend hit and I wasn't into it. But now I am. And I want one. Debating whether I want one in just basic black or a pattern...
Oh lookie, it's Vanessa again. Random!
Trend I am NOT into= feathers in the hair. If you are, you rock it! But, I'm just not. Although it might go well with this new random trend of owling. (Seriously, check out that link. You'll laugh. Or at least smile. Promise).

Happy Friday and happy weekend, friends!

Weekend Recap!

Hiya! It's Wednesday. It's more than halfway to this coming weekend, but I'll go ahead and recap last weekend anyhoo... Mostly b/c I dont really have anything else exciting to talk about right now... haha...

Okay, sooooo Friday night, I ran errands. It was a riveting night. ;)

Saturday, I went on the hunt for a dress. What dress, you ask? A dress to wear to the event I had that night, themed "a night in Morocco." I was really wanting to find a pretty bright dress I could also wear to a friend's wedding coming up. (And I had a gift card burning a hole in my wallet!) Anyway, two hours in and no signs of a dress. The record screeched to a halt in my head and I changed directions..... to jewelry and shoes. If I couldn't find a dress, I could at least get some fun jewelry and shoes to go with one I already own. :) Annnnd I did! I never get "impractical" shoes.. er.. or rarely. So, I took the birthday gift card and got the most fabulously impractical strappy, gold, 4 inch heels with a zipper in the back! I was really proud of myself for my completely impractical purchase. *proud smile*

So, I got home from my mall adventures and watched a youtube video on doing Taylor Swift's messy updo. Tried to achieve it. Didn't quite work out, but close enough in my book so I went with it....

Showed up at the event and was surprised to be greeted by a camel and belly dancers! ha! Fabulous! Maria chaired the fabulous benefit and did an amazing job... Here she is with me, posing with the greeting committee... ;)
You can catch a little glimpse of my super fun gold shoes!
Just an idea of how fantastic the decor was!

My handsome date for the evening... ;) We had a really good time!

 The belly dancers performed...
I can so do that.... er... right...
Someone may have had four glasses of some wine and was having a grand old time, even en route home! At 11pm. In sunglasses (?). (Eric was driving)

Guess what Eric and I did on Sunday! We saw Harry Potter! It was fantastic! And that's coming from someone who didn't read all the books and saw the movies out of order. (I know I know). But it was seriously really freaking good!

As I'm drafting this, I've got MTV on in the background and I guess the real world/road rules challenge on..or whatever that is. Two questions: Is road rules even on anymore? and... Aren't most of these people too old to be on this show? It's kinda weird and gross. And someone is throwing a temper tantrum, smashing plants and things. These people need real jobs and life coaches.

Hope you're having a good week, friends!

Clinically proven to make you see gnomes

So, I just got home from a work dinner thing, but decided to flip open my Cosmo for some pre-bedtime reading...

...and saw this ad..

Yes, I totally booted up the computer and logged on to blogger to show it to you.

B/c I'm a loser. B/c it's creepy.

Lady sitting awkwardly in unattractive blue chair.

Holding some beauty product.

In an indoor garden picnic with gnomes.

I mean.. what kind of messed up trip is this?!

Does it work? Who knows. But if it makes you see gnomes, I don't want any part of it...

...unless the gnomes have wine. In which case, I might reconsider.

TGIF

Thanks so much for all your comments yesterday. I mean, I totally brushed it off with super sarcastic theres-no-way-in-hell face/eye roll and laughed a hearty "that was a good one" when I told anyone, but my eyes kept directing themselves to my stomach nervously... haha.. I mean, how could it not slightly bother someone, right?! Anyway, thanks for your kind words! He asked me when we could get the project done and a part of me mentally thought about saying "around the time my baby is due, jerkoff." haha..

Way better today! Went to dinner/drinks with these lovelies last night...

...and we kept laughing about it. We sat outside (and yes, it was approximately eight thousand degrees) and were all sweating.. I kept saying I was getting that "pregnancy glow" as I sipped my wine.. lol!  (I'm sure I alarmed anyone in hearing distance as I consumed my alcohol and wasn't aware of the comedy of the situation.. ha.. Whatever).

Anyhoodle... onto more exciting things..

Whatcha got goin on for the weekend, friends? Me? I have a fun benefit dinner thing tomorrow night, but am otherwise free as a bird. :) Totally wanna see Harry Potter! And I also kinda wanna see Pooh, soon. I mean, how could you not love Pooh?! Er.. Winnie THE Pooh that is.. ;) Next weekend, Eric and I are going on a float trip. I'm starting to hydrate and apply sunblock now b/c uh... it's gonna be like floating on top of the sun with as hot as it's been recently. Then, the following weekend is girls' weekend with some of my college friends!

Hope you're gearing up for a good weekend wherever you are, friends!

Things that really happened today...

I met someone for a meeting.

And...

He walked in, introduced himself... and then...

He asked if I was pregnant!

WHAT?!
I laughed nervously and said "Nope! My shirt is blousy...If I AM pregnant, that'd be pretty crazy news for me AND my boyfriend.." and laughed it off. (There are so many times in life I feel like Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail when she wishes mean, insulting things just rolled off her tongue in moments like this).

He didnt laugh.

OR apologize. (Granted, if he had fallen over himself apologizing, it probably would have been more awkward)

Meeting continued and I moved past it. He made some other comments that were a little "off" and I started to realize maybe he's just kinda strange...

We started talking about doughnuts (Don't ask; it was irrelevant).

And he asked (directed at me) "You probably really like dougnuts... right? I mean... I bet so!"

What the?!

And um... this is what I'm wearing today... Granted, I buttoned my little cardigan after that interchange b/c my silky, blousy shirt was obviously not doing me any favors....haha! (Please ignore my I-slept-in-today-and-put my-hair-in-a-ponytail hair)

blousy shirt I'm never wearing again (LOL!), pink cardigan, and skinny black pants
But what the?!!

Some people are so inappropriate!

I wish you could have heard the not so classy thoughts in my mind, despite the classy way I laughed it all off. I also wish you could have seen my mental image where I turned into a ninja and drop kicked him.

(And no, I totally don't think I look preggo at all, so no worries there. I think he was just wildly rude. But, seriously. This girl needs a large cocktail after work today. Gawd).

On another note, I've been doing this whole thing where I am in bed, lights off, by 10 this week.  *sound of mental applause for myself* Just trying to get some quality sleep. :) Sooooo I'm slacking in the blog world b/c I'm often a commenting fool from around 10-11pm most weeks. Need to play catch up on the bloggidies asap!

Birthdays and A Bachelorette Party! (Weekend Recap)

Friday, Eric's sister celebrated her 31st bday and we went to dinner to celebrate! I'm bummed b/c I totally didn't think to get a photo.. blah. *shaking head at self* It was good times and she had on a great dress that I'd totally show you if I hadn't been a camera slacker...

After dinner, Eric and I headed to celebrate another friend's birthday. Beth's husband celebrated his 30th birthday with a surprise planned by her that may have included a party bus and mariachi band! Random-awesome! He came out of the restaurant and was so surprised!

The band led us into the bars by playing/singing "Tequila"...and of course we all sang along. I mean, it's "Tequila!" It was hilarious good times and I'm sure we annoyed everyone around us! haha! Eric and I hopped off midway through since I was getting up early to head to Dallas for a friend's bachelorette.

So Saturday morning, Sara, Jenny, and I hopped in the car and were southbound 75 headed to Laura's bachelorette party. I hadn't planned on going, but Sara emailed me last week like "Seriously. You should come. SERIOUSLY." After some thinking and talking about it, I decided on Thursday evening that I was a go! ha! I'm feeling so spontaneous in my old age.. ;) Anyway, I'm so glad I went.. It was a freaking fantastic weekend. I can't remember the last time I had a girls night where we all got dressed up and hit the town... It was really fun. :)

And now here are some of the zillion photos....

Arrived at hotel early afternoon and opted to hit the pool... Apparently everyone else had the same idea...

Headed up to the suite after some pool time and got ready for the bachelorette's entrance. (She didn't know the maid of honor had arranged a fabulous suite and tons of other fun stuff). :)

The MOH saved everyone tonsa time and $$ by having food brought in... And that way, we weren't super planned out having to be places at a certain time either... :)

Love these girls! :) The three of us rode down together and shared a room in the suite :)
Jenny, me, Sara
The bride re-enacting her surprised face when she walked in with the maid of honor and her mom. :)
With the bride to be!
Masks are a must for any bachelorette party.... duh...
 The group

And then....

The planking began... (Don't know what I mean? See this video).

I won't post all the planking photos but the whole night became one big opportunity to plank...haha! Freaking fantastic and random...
Yes, this is in the lobby.
We hopped in the karaoke cab and headed out... (Who even knew they have karaoke cabs?!)
We had a reserved little area at the place we went, so of course the girls started dancing there! (Side note: We weren't at a dance club). With arms flailing in the air and heads bopping around, I glanced over and saw this....
..and proceeded to laugh hysterically...You know it's a girls night when the heels come off. ;)

Called it a night by heading back to the hotel.... but...stopped off at some random pool party they had going on. Apparently we thought it was a good idea to plank there too...
 Security disagreed...

We headed upstairs, devoured the remaining food (It was ugly, people. Picture 8 girls digging into a bowl of chicken salad in their pajamas armed with forks), and hit the hay...  :)

So glad I went! I might not go "out" as much as I did in my early twenties, but it's so much more fun NOW b/c we don't do it very much, there's never any stupid drama, everyone's mostly attached so it's truly a total girls night, and no one gets out of control (unless you count the planking...but I don't know why you would. ;))...

I feel like this weekend was straight out of some reality tv show on E!... party buses, girls night, karaoke cabs--definitely not my typical weekend... ;) So happy to have so many things to celebrate this summer! :)

Hope you had a fabulous weekend, friends!

My birthday weekend in KC!

Hi peeps! I have a lot of blogging to catch up on! Just got back from a fabulous bachelorette party in Dallas and have TONSA pics (I can tell you're excited..). But, I wanna go in order...and I still haven't posted Kansas City from last weekend. And uh.. it was totally my birthday weekend so I can't just skip over it b/c I know I'll want to look back on it. :)

Sooooo my party (the last post) was Thursday evening and I had a great dinner with my mom on Friday night to celebrate the big three-oh! Saturday morning, Eric and I headed to KC in our own fabulously leisurely pace.. We got there, shopped a little, and then got ready for dinner. :) Since my bday was Sunday and lots of places were gonna be closed, we opted for a nicer/fun dinner on Saturday night... We hit up La Bodega for some fabulous tapas! We were seriously fat kids. And I don't mean thin kids eating a little bit more than usual. I mean contestants on the biggest loser. Seriously. It was ridiculous and amazing.

Before we gorged ourselves. :) Drinking white sangria! YUM

Woke up Sunday (MY BDAY!!) and headed to brunch! It was raining, but I didnt care. It cooled things off quite a bit anyway...
We'd gotten some recs to hit up The Classic Cup on the plaza for brunch. And um.. we-once again-were complete and total fat kids. We each ordered omelets. And then decided we needed pancakes. And then an order of bacon. Holy calorie intake!
The rest of the day was spent shopping around a little more... We really didn't need anything, but were just kinda enjoying kicking back and exploring, especially once the rain cooled things off... :)

Hit up Blanc Burgers and Bottles for dinner...and it was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had... Cool decor. Fabulous food... Tonsa different types of soda and beer...side orders come in mini shopping carts... Yeah.. Highly recommend!

Then we headed to see this..
...and it was awesome....

Annnd the most fabulous thing! Guess what Eric got me for my bday... Well, you're kinda looking at it so you don't have to guess but I'll tell you... When we toured the Designer Showcase home here a month or so ago, I'd fallen in love with a vintage, ornate, silver jewelry box.. I almost bought it, but then waffled and decided I didn't need it. I'm kinda sorta obsessed with funky little boxes like this, especially silver ones... I just think it's beautiful! Anyhoo, I guess he somehow went back and got it...which was quite a feat b/c things were selling left and right so I have no idea how he was able to get it.... But I absolutely love it! :) So thoughtful... :)
So that was my bday weekend! Seriously, one of my top three birthdays ever... Might even be the top birthday ever....:) Thank you so much for the sweet words wishing me a happy one and thoughtful comments about my party! :) I know I've ranted a lot about my birthday, so thanks for bearing with me... I wanted to make sure I captured it all so I could revisit it lata...

More posts coming!

So, I turned 30...and nothing crazy happened... ;)

...except an awesome party, that is! :)

So, the last time I posted was right before my bday shindig. And I wanted to do a quick (picture-filled) post to recap my birthday party. :) Thanks to a friend, we were able to get the fun top floor of a building downtown. I knew we were having wine, appetizers, etc, but thought it'd be fairly low key...but I ended up being very surprised. Eric, Timberly, and Eric's family really went above and beyond to make me feel special and I could never thank them enough b/c it exceeded any expectations I had for any sort of celebration... It was perfect. And I was blown away...

I stepped off the elevator to this... :)

...and immediately froze.. haha... I was like "Ohmygosh there's a big heel! And it's PINK! They already went too far... " And then I got teary... over a shoe... b/c I'm an emotionally charged idiot around my 30th birthday apparently.

And I continued into the room..

Eric's brother was the bartender for the evening! How freaking sweet, right?!

There were gorgeous little flower arrangements everywhere.. and little pink heels with nuts!

And roses for me... :)

Party favors :)

personalized m&ms...

How cute is the cake?!!!

And even a personalized cake cutter! I also got teary at this.. Who gets teary at a cake cutter?! Gawd.
With some of my girl friends :)

Maria (above) made me an awesome video that I'll definitely cherish for years to come. So thoughtful. She interviewed a few of my friends that had already turned 30 and asked them to give well wishes, tell funny stories about when they turned 30, etc. And Eric ended the video like Mr. Big from SATC... the ep with the balloons in the limo... Know what I'm talking about? I tried to find it, but copyright issues prevented me from it. Blerg. Anyway, it was really sweet. I'll have to ask Maria to send it in a way I can embed it here. :)
That's a lot of candles... for a lot of AWESOMENESS. Duh. ;)
I had enough wine to jokingly announce that I was Heather's baby daddy... haha...

A photo with Timberly, one of the thoughtful masterminds behind the partay :)
And then there's the guy behind it all.... :)

No one has ever made me feel so special on my birthday...I was beaming from ear to ear most of the night... especially after I downed a glass of wine and relaxed a little (b/c my eyes were wide with Icantbelievetheydidallthis for awhile.. haha).

It was perfect. Beyond perfect. And more than I deserved. But I loved it so much. And I'm so very blessed, lucky, .....happy... :)

And it kicked off a fabulous birthday weekend.. :) On Saturday morning, Eric and I left for Kansas City and I'll have that post later! :) And uh.. for the record, I'm totally okay with this 30 thing. I've decided the lead up is much more stressful than the actual event.. hah.. I'm like "Cool. I'm 30. *shrugs* Whatev." haha!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! And thank you all so much for the great birthday wishes on the bloggidy and twitter! :)
