Philanthropy-the way to be.

(yes, I was trying to be cheesy with the title)

I have no idea when I leave for the UW. I think it's a couple weeks. I've played phone tag with the local peeps and our HR folks are based somewhere else and don't know about our local campaign. *lips pursed and shifted to one side* I've also heard rumors about getting a company car since I'll be driving so much. I called our HR person... Who knows.

I am trrrrrryying to not check out mentally before I actually get to check out physically, but it's hard, people. This morning, I entered 4 sweepstakes on Glamour dot com. So much for coming in at 8am to get things done. Productive. Right. I also hope to take a day off before I leave.. I dont think I'll get time off while I'm being all philanthropic. That sounds crappy.. "Hi, can I have a day off from doing good? I'm kinda tired." hahahaha... So, hopefully I can take a day next week or something.

Check that, UW person just called me back. I start in a couple weeks! Nervous! I guess it kicks off with a breakfast for us then we learn about the bus-nass, tour some local agencies, etc. By week's end, we're assigned to our divisions. Dude. I wonder if they wait to see what we're like before they assign us places? This could be good or bad. I'd like to think I give off a good impression. But, as I drift back to college memories, I recall rushing some really great girls.. but I also recall rushing some HEINOUS B*TCHES b/c people thought they were just "shy." Therefore, the theory was "Jackie is so talkative and stuff. She can make anyone feel comfy and we really like this girl but heard she's shy, so let's put Jackie with her." She wasn't shy. She was usually a complete snob. My personal favorite...

Me: conversation was NOT flowing and we were outside in the yard so I said "We're the only house with a fenced in backyard and little deck/patio...which is nice for privacy, etc..."
Her: "Whatever. I dont like being outside much and the yard is tiny here anyway." *silence*

She was awesome. *nervous*

So what if I think I'm giving off a great impression and they think I'm nice, etc and stick me with some a-holes who think philanthropy is for bozos?!

I.am.over.analyzing.

Thanks for voting in my poll, peeps!! Glad Monday's almost ov-uh!

woohoo, i love uw. i might be on 3 committes for our company's uw stuff :) way better than counting beans.

i hated rush. and it's all because of my very first rushee. i got a girl who told me she was interested in joining a sorority because, statistically, she had heard that they get higher grades. i was very confused, but whatever, so i proceeded to tell her about how we *love* to all study together or some bs like that. THEN, well, lets just say that, judging from the house she went to, she was totally lying to me. which didn't make sense. why would you lie about liking to study to join a sorority? whatever. clearly i am way over it.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad I could make you laugh. This post made me remember my old rush days when I had to sit and smile and listen to crazy girls stories that they would tell during rush events. I remember thinking man I wish I was stuck in the kitchen.

I think your UW thing is so cool and I can't wait to hear all about it! Oh rush, how I miss you and your akward conversations.

THAT WAS ME! You totally made my day by telling me I wasn't bottom heavy lol! Tulsa is super small! Oh and your blog title made me feel like I was back in philanthropy week at the sorority house. And yes, there were plenty Henious people who went through rush - AWFUL! Although I would almost always take the mean ones over the silent ones!
