The heat is on...(duhnuhnuhnuhnuh...)
So, this is gonna sound weird.. but I really really want to have my hair pulled. I dont mean anything like THAT (you sickos), but do you know what I mean? I cant really explain it, but there's a proper way to do it.. like kinda grabbing at the roots all over for about 4-5 seconds... It's relaxing...Whatever, you think I'm nuts. It's alright. Not the first time.
So I wish everything made me as happy as my stylist does lately.. I went on Saturday and had some lowlights added..but not brown...more honey blonde..anyway, love it, love being blonde. I typically go darker this time of year, but dont think I will. So there. Hmph!
I think we should have a girls night where we meet, go look at Christmas lights (maybe at Rhema) then go grab a quick din din or something nearby. We could wear ugly Christmas sweaters. Takers? I'm serious.

C'mon baby light my fire...
Had a totally scary encounter this weekend by my apts. I would write about it, but I really dont know who reads this. But, trust me, it was scary, people. If I dont blog for a couple days or something, please check on my status. Thanks. Being dramatic, but really...Maybe I should move somewhere safer...
Notes from the Underbelly returns tonight!!! Hooray hooray! My fav is the lawyer.. I forgot her name.. hmm....
I have a calendar on the wall in my office....It still reads "July" It's my personal goal to keep it up through Christmas. I find it funny. Whatever it takes, right?
Also, has anyone else tried to upload photos to facebook in the past..um.. 5 days...and had issues with their new uploader?

Santa packs are coming...Santa packs are coming...

Also. my little baby Christmas tree! Its the first one I've had on my own. :) I'm such a grown up-gah. The secret is wrapping the lights within the branches.. (mark this down on things I learned from Martha Stewart.. please number it (1) ) :)
Oh, and saw the BEST holiday card:
Front: Oh! Oh! Oh!
Inside: Happy Holidays from Dyslexics Everywhere!
*Evil, mean, but I laughed. Sorry, but I did. A lot.

Along the same lines of "doing something," WHAT WAS UP with the Bachelor last night?! Oh. My. God. He was my favorite Bachelor up til this point. I mean.. I didnt really like Deanna that much, but still...what was UP with that? I mean... No one asked him to propose...but to cut them BOTH loose... Lame. What was that whole "I cant look you in the eyes and tell you I love you." OUCH. I cant WAIT for the show tonight... (b/c I really AM that lame-whatever) ;)
Oh..and I saw a few of you noticed my cute purse Aaron got me! :)) That guy rocks my friggin world. :)
Is anyone else unmotivated this week? *le sigh*
B/c I'm in my 20s..on a TUESDAY.. What-what...
That sounds obvious. I mean.. of course I'm not invincible...nor have I ever been. But, for some reason, I feel as though that notion becomes more "real" in your 20s. I mean... I feel as though, when in our 20s, we realize we're really not untouchable.. We can get fired. We can lose a loved one. We can fail. We can have colossal heartbreak....all while giving everything we've got. It's not fair sometimes,. This isn't to say that I've never been through anything before I hit my 20s. My father passed away when I was 12 just to name one.... but I dont know if there's something about a certain level of maturity you hit in your 20s that says "This can happen to me?!" At the same time, you want to start hitting that "fake break" your parents hit when you started to learn to drive...
I guess I was just thinking about all this..and realizing those moments when you're not so "untouchable" and really aren't invincible...are the moments in your life...and especially in your 20s...when you build more character than you can stand-even when you'd rather not have a craptastic "character building experience." So, even though I'm not having one of those right now, just sayin...deep thinking next to the bald guy in 19B (who had my armrest) made for an interesting flight. Partially frustrated that things aren't always fair...or deserved...I'm still okay with not being invincible and seeing where that takes me.

Things that make you go hmmmmm....
"Your account has been locked due to three failed attempts." It's not MY fault I cant remember all my passwords that the world makes me remember. Le sigh. So much for paying my cell phone bill...for another 20 minutes. Boo. I would be able to remember if Sprint hadnt gotten bought out by Nextel and therefore made me change my password to something I cannot remember. Whatever.
I woke up with my dog's rear end in my face this morning.
Apparently, it annoyed someone that I referenced someone I dont like on my blog...months ago. I was informed it was a bit rude. Whatever. She/he doesnt read the blog...and I didn't spell out his/her name or anything or identify him/her. Besides, it would likely be slander per se...in which the only defense is "truth." I believe what I said was true. Hmph. haha. Who cares.
I have a leetle hole in my chin still. Could be worse. I know. I understand it's not contagious anymore since it stopped having..um.. slight issues with puss. Gross? Again..try having it on your face.
My pilot light went out. Again. I tried. It wont light. I'm not incompetent, but that little metal thing makes me want to....well.. do something crazy. Arg!
My newest obsession(s):
The massage chairs at the gym. I could sit in there for hours. Friends agree. They are amazing. It's like having a massage therapist with like 6 hands...slightly robotic hands...but you get it.
Gossip Girl. Again, last night, sooo good.. I actually repeated the "XOXO...Gossip Girl" trademark lingo out loud. Geez.
Finding cool nutcrackers for the holidays.
My new eyeliner. Mac. In the pot. Use an angled brush. It's awesome.
Colored, dot, different sized magnets from Target. They're like 1.99 in a box. They're fun. They're cute. They're magnets, people! I have a mangetized wall in my office, so these shall hold photos and I shall take pictures of my photo wall o fun. Be jealous.
Well, I started this blog more than an hr ago and have gotten crazy busy since then, so happy reading. :)

In honor of Jon Bon....
Here I am at the concert my 3rd year in law school.....Look how happy...Maybe it was the beer. I think it was Jon Bon. Whatever. :)
This was from the screen....a view of all the people who also LOVE JON BON!!! (of course)
I am SO euphoric right now.!! YES!
B/c I'm in my 20s...Volume 8
1. I tend to send emails in fits of frustration b/c I don't feel like verbally expressing myself.
If I get angry with you, you might get an email. lol! As Dennis said "If you have time to edit before sending, it's not that bad.. but sometimes.. Jax..." It takes the height of frustration to send emails.. or mulling over something for a long time. OR sometimes, I'm just lazy and dont want to call someone to have it out but I just want them to listen to my POV (point of view for those in the know. Thanks)
2. I still eat like a college student. Blame it on not having a family yet. I dunno. But, sometimes easy mac and cookie dough sounds like a good meal. Whatever. Dont judge me. I go to the gym more...It's worth the cookie dough.
3. I can't STAND getting oil changes. As in, I wait until I think my engine might be in trouble to get one. I know.. I know.. But, in my defense, I know nothing about engines, so I dont wait THAT long b/c to me, it's always about to blow.
4. I sometimes try on clothes in the morning for work and decide not to wear them. (Not clothes in general, but just the outfit. Going naked to work would be weird and rather Ally McBeal). The bad habit part comes in not re-hanging the clothes, but instead leaving them on the bed. When I go to sleep, I throw them on the hamper at the foot of my bed. This continues until I need to do laundry or get a burst of cleaning energy.
5. I chew ice. A lot. Doesnt matter where I am. I refrain in my office due to a certain former co-worker who drove everyone crazy doing it. I'm not sexually frustrated (I dont think) and I have minimal stress. I'm a cold-natured person.. I freeze in 60 degree weather... *sigh* Whatever. I dunno. My dentist says it's bad but as for now, my teeth are great and I chomp away. mm...Sonic ice...mm...:)
6. I watch A&E crime stories, etc, late at night then wonder why I cant sleep. I do this at least once per week. I also have weird dreams about snakes sometimes, but anything about unsual animal attacks, I've got the dvr running. It's interesting damnit.
7. I still tan. Not as much.. but still do it. I blame SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Actually, I wish I was the person who invented THAT b/c it's kinda lame.. even if it exists. Anyway, I know.. I know.. tanning is bad and I dont want to look like I'm 50 when I'm 30. I've cut back. But, being pale is just something I'm easing into, okay. Whatever.
8. I like odd numbers b/c of a hint of OCD. That is all.
That's all I've got today. I'm excited about PP returning tonight.. and.. and.. GOSSIP GIRL! Maybe watching teen dramas should be a bad habit, too. Whoa..what was I thinking.. Nevermind. :)

20 What Would You Do- City High (b/c I HATED this song)
I could've kept going and going, but frankly, I have to get some work done and this is wasting time. But, I couldn't resist and I'd started today's first blog last night at home as a draft. So whatev.
Memories.... of dancing around the sorority house jamming to music blasting from someone's computer. Those were the days... *overly dramatic wistful sigh* lol!
I'm dating my DVR
Samantha Who is still pretty damn funny, albeit the memory stuff is a bit overdone sometimes. But, Christina rocks my world.. and her best friend.. ahh.. love the cynical, surface, insensitive lawyers on tv. (I also love the one in Notes from the Underbelly). I connect with them... Not really, but I like the world's view of female lawyers in that it's-only-comical-b/c-i-dont-practice-anymore kind of way. haha. :)

Meet the Fam...
My grandparents. I never met my grandfather, but he was a looker, right?! :) My grandmother did some acting and modeling...hence the fun photos. :) Guess I wasn't the first generation ham in the family. :)
....and this one cracked me up of my grandmother modeling or acting.. It was just so 1950s.. love it. :)
I found this fun one of my mom, too. :) Pretty pretty. :)
Another of my grandmother. She's the one everyone in the fam says I take after. My grandfather on the beach smoking a cigarette.. Again, I reiterate that he was a looker, right?!
I particularly like this one. He's shaking the branch and she's laughing.. Double click to see it bigger... My grandparents were cute. Officially.
My grandfather receiving the Legion of Merit for his service in North Africa. :)
And finally, my grandma and my mom at the beach....
I just love old photos, don't you?!
Sunday Funday
Some things:
1. Went to dinner with the bridesmaids n Blaze last night! :) We've made some plans and I'm already way excited! Bachelorette party is in the works for an out-of-town extravaganza in the spring! Here are all of us (minus Melanie b/c she was sick)
2. Blaze informed us that there will be another group at the reception place that night.. Get ready for it... Get ready.... THE MISS OKLAHOMA people! YES! Can you SEE the funny photos now? ("Look, it's Blaze with Miss Sperry!" LOL!)
3. Speaking of weddings, I have a facebook friend that just got married. She posted some pics of the honeymoon.. There were only like 5 of them (now there are more so its okay). All five featured the bed, the bathtub, the bedroom, etc.. Okay.. take that PLUS the fact that she was likely a virgin before the wedding. Okay, that's special, but it was kinda weird and gross that the first pic in the album I saw was the bed she likely lost her virginity on. That's how my mind words. It's gross, I know. I promise if and when I get married, I will not post pictures of the bed all by itself. It's weird. Again, she has since posted a lot more pics. So, now it's okay. But, when there were only THOSE pics, I was creeped. out.
4. Also about facebook, people really need to regulate their status. I mean.. I just logged in and saw "____ (person's name omitted) is mourning the loss of a dear friend." WHAT?! That is NOT a facebook status. Please remove it. Thanks.
5. While we're on the subject of inappropriate, here's a picture of my face mid week last week. It really does look a lot better now, but not quite gone. But, I went out last night for a bit and no one really noticed it. Even Maureen said it looked a ton better (and she appeared honest). :) So, hopefully it'll be GONE soon!!!! I know you see it and think "well, it's not THAT bad.." Well.. I didn't take an up-close pic for a reason.
6. While I went shopping for makeup, I got little Gracie a coat, too! Lime green with pink and yellow plaid along the back. :) She wasn't enthused. But, whatever.. I think she looks adorable. Not quite as adorable as she'll look on my holiday cards....but whatever. I need addresses on that note. I'll send an email soon.
7. Behind Gracie, there are coats on my chair. That's where they stay. I have no closet space (b/c I have like ONE closet-really). So... I want a coat rack. Recommendations where I could get a cool iron looking one? Please pass on. Thanks. I've looked everywhere and Pottery Barn isnt getting 1/4 of my paycheck for one. Being dramatic, but seriously they were $$$!!!
8. Maybe I shall stop watching Bear survive in the wild by eating snakes and using deer fur and go find a coat rack. Doubtful. I might need to know these things if ever trapped in the wild. Hey, I AM dating Aaron so...it might happen.
9. Oh, I've been addicted to cookie dough. As in.. it's all I ate yesterday until dinner. I didn't have a LOT of it, but it's all I crave. What is wrong with me? *sigh* At least I'm hitting the gym again (with a bandaid on the chin of course)
10. Did you ever have to read Beowulf? I think we were supposed to in high school.. I never read the books we were supposed to. I'm just a great bs'er (hence the law degree later..haha) Anyway, it looks like a freaky movie.

This. sucks.
I read online that this is often treated with an oral antibiotic AND a topical thing. I want the oral antibiotic damnit. I'm calling tomorrow morning and if he (1) makes me come in or (2) wont give it to me, I'm over him. *sigh* This just sucks b/c I'm paying for this out of pocket, too b/c of the way my insurance is. I really dont want to go BACK to the doctor to have him prescribe the meds he should have prescribed on MONDAY.
To give you an idea, I cant even BLOW. MY. NOSE. b/c once I blow it, the bottom of the tissue might have touched my chin. So, I throw tissue one away and get another. It takes like 3 tries. Then, like 3 times per day, I have to take a soapy cloth (paper towel) and gingerly wash it while part of the "honey crust" scab (as the internet calls it) comes off so I can put the medicine directly on the wound. Hot? Yeah. Try having it on your face.
I'm bogged down. And I have a hole in my face. And googling pictures of my condition freaked me out. And I want someone to just come over and take care of me...or rub my feet..or..or...I just want to whine and thank you for listening. Done.
Deep thoughts and makeup.
So, I am an optimistic person. I also like to think the best of people (aka why a law firm was not the best fit..). However, I tend to be a bit cynical and when around other cynical people, I become less "think the best of people." (again why the firm wasnt a good fit..haha). Okay, all that said, did your parents ever say "I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed." Ugh! I HATED that. That was their way of pulling at my heartstrings and making me want to crawl in a hole. Arg.
Anyway, if there's one thing I can't stand, it's disappointment...esp in people. But, then, you must wonder if you never felt disappointment, how would you ever understand how great it feels when expectations are realized or even surpassed? Deep thoughts this a.m. Hmm...
Along those same lines, I have high expectations for Grey's tonight. If I'm disappointed, I might take out Meredith Grey. Might. haha...And will the writers just win the strike already.. Gah.. The last time this happeneded was in the 80s and it lasted like 5 mos. NO!!!
Update on the fungus: My face is looking better...slowly but surely. I did, however, get new makeup yesterday. $$$$! Sheez! But, if this crap never comes back, it's worth the money. I got MAC powder and I'm just not sure about it yet... Hmm...What powder do you wear?

Do me a favor....

Oh...and b/c I'm in my 20s (since it's Wed), I like to act like I'm in my 20s sometimes...and party like a rockstar. Along the same lines, the last pic with the foam hands is the night Aaron and I talked for the first time...for those of you who know the story about playgrounds and Paris Hilton. It was my 3rd year of lawschool. The rest is history. :)

Odds in you favor?
I've harnessed my chi...
Anyway, today is a new day. I went to the gym yesterday to spread my staph (kidding) and jump rope until I felt like I was going to pass out. (Im out of shape so that wasn't very long-haha) Then, I hit the punching bag. Then, I needed to stop b/c I'm not supposed to "sweat" a lot with this stupid infection. But, taking out some aggression was nahhhhhce. :)
After my little tiff with the heating company, they have to come turn my heat back on. I think I'm proving something... when in fact I'm just gonna be cold tonight and they still win. Whatever. At least I have my space heaters. :)
The trees outside my office are gorgeous. The sun is shining. My face looks less like a freak show. Good day so far. :)

Today sucks dot com....
This is what happened at Walgreens:
10am: Arrive at Walgreens for medicine.
me: "Hi, my doc just called in an Rx for me.. I can wait a few if it's not ready yet."
Napolean (the guy looked like Nap Dynamite) "Well. I have 5 unchecked voicemails. It might be on there."
Me: *blink...blink..." "Um.. okay.. will you check."
Nap: "Yeah, in a sec."
Time: 10:15, no checking voicemail yet.
me: "I know you're busy, but can you please check that voicemail?"
**** By this time, Id called my doc and confirmed that she had indeed left a voicemail****
Nap: "Yeah, Brent is on it" (motions to guy behind him on the phone)
Me: "Um... I dont know about you, but I dont typically talk back to my messages on voicemail, so I dont think Brent is checking them. I understand you're busy, but I need this med before I go into work. It's just ointment and I have a staph infection....on my face" (points at face)
Nap: "Okay."
Me: *staring kinda mean* "Well..I'll just go walk around for a few while you get it ready..."
Nap: "mmmkay."
time: 10:45 am
Me: "Hi. Is it ready yet?"
Nap: "Oh, the voicemail.. Lemme see.."
10:52 am
Nap: "It's ready. Oh....no..that's not good..."
Me: "What..what's not good?"
Nap: ".. our computers just went down. You're gonna have to come back."
ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!!!! I am really glad I have self control.. REALLY glad that I'm working in a calmer environment..and basically glad that I hit the SHIT out of a punching bag at the gym last night b/c it saved this poor pre-pubescent looking kid from the wrath of a staph girl with a mild eye infection. (did I mention that? He thinks I got bitten by an insect on my eyelid.)
So, I went in to work and dealt with some shit that made me MORE stressed out, but isnt a typical crisis. No biggie. My boss laughed and told me to go home. I love how laid back my job is. So, I left....and just now got my Rx at Walgreens. What time is it? Yeah, it's 3:20. My doc appt was at 9:15. My Rx was called in at 9:50. Right. EFFING MORONS. I am changing. Walgreens is fired.
And one more thing... how did an insect bite me on my eyelid? I'm a clean person, damnit. My apt is CLEAN. Even my dog gets bathed more than she should. My doc actually commended me saying "well, it's a good thing you're clean b/c if you weren't, this infection would have spread badly by now...but it's concentrated on your chin." Well, thank God for small blessings. *sigh*
I gave in....
I like my doc, but sometimes I need him to say "Yes, Jax, come in. I want to see you." I called on the sore throat.. he told me to take it easy and drink water. I called on the bite on my chin; hus nurse told me to put cortizone on it. I now have a swollen eye and I didn't call for advice. I said "Hi, I need an appt as soon as you can get me in. Thanks."
Arg. I know you have to pay for healthcare, but I wasn't exactly rushing to the doc b/c my new insurance doesn't have co-pays. I pay it all out of pocked until I hit a deductible. The annoying thing.. our ins starts over this month so this payment wont even go towards next year's deductible. Frust.rat.ing. Whatever.
Gracie seems excited that I'm still home playing with her... That's one good thing. Not having pink eye would be another... Cross your fingers!!!
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! :)

"It's like a lap dance... but with food."
Eagerly anticipating pics from Jenny's wedding and kinda wishing I was also on a beach, Kel and I hit up her friend, Amy's, birthday party on Friday night at the Twisted Lizard. New bar. New people. AND a THEME! Black and white. :) Love it. I want more theme parties. They're just more fun. Period. :)
Anyhoo, it was a laid back night and was followed by another on Sat when Kelli and I went to dinner with some of her friends and some other new people, too. I spent the day with my mom shopping for her new house, then headed to din with Kel. One of the guys at dinner was from Ireland and was HILARIOUS. We were at Osaka...and the guy was twirling the utensil stuff when Irish guy said "This is like a lap dance....but with food!" hahahahahahaha!
Then, we (again wanting something different), went to karaoke! This is some of us attempting to sing spice girls. Yes. I am laughing, not singing...I dont know how much of the song we actually belted. haha! I pity my children if I ever sing to them. Really. Aaron can attest.
I went home, watched Gossip Girl (I dvr it. Don't make fun. It's a good show. Seriously.) I've been wanting a good book, so I hopped in the car and headed to Borders. I have a routine there. I always start at the photo books. Love them. Someday I shall buy lots and lots of them and stockpile them. Yes. Anyway, then I head over to the psych books. I like to browse them, but rarely buy. I mean.. books about recovery, psych disorders, counseling, etc make me sooo intrigued, but I have a hard time choosing so I move on. Ended up getting a book elsewhere that I've started before, but can't seem to find.
So, that's not the point.. I, donning a wrinkled tshirt, glasses, my fav but too-long-for-flip-flops jeans (but I wore flip flops anyway), headed to grab some tea and a muffin before checking out. I LOVE getting hot tea at the bookstore. It feels very "fall." I dunno. So, headed out, and somewhere over the waft of the hot mango tea and earlier darkfall than usual, I breathed in the slightly crisper fall air. It was...nice...not quite as annoying as I thought it was before... I started to get excited about things like the "lights on" at utica square, finding more nutcrackers (b/c I collect them in case you didnt know), having holiday gatherings and things with friends and family, etc... So, all in all, I guess I'm escaping the fall funk I get every year. I think I'm just resistant to change...esp when it means more cold and less sun. But, even though the people cuddling on the park bench made me want to barf today, I secretly missed Aaron more than ever and thought "I cant wait to go skating in Millenium Park with him when it gets cold.." I NEVER utter the phrase "I cant wait" and end it with "it gets cold"
So... hey...bring on the fall. At least for today. :)Oh..and to end on a less reflective note, I seriously almost bought the Gossip Girl books. I didn't. Whatever.
Oooooh..and along my new fall-liking jazz, B, B and Beyond has cinnamon scented pinecones. They're fab. I bought some. You should, too. Just sayin...

The ladybug, the lobster and the princess....Sounds like a fairy tale.
That dad was kinda hot...
I went to Kelli's last night and we dressed up our dogs (I took photos) :) Hers: Reggie was a lobster, Rosa was a princess. Mine: Gracie was a ladybug. :) They all romped around together while trick or treaters came. Cute. :) We expected more than we got, but they were still cute...esp the kid in the scream costume that fell up her stairs...and the little girl whose dad accompanied her to the front door. Kelli shut the door and said "That dad was kinda hot...is that wrong?" hahahaha! :)
Also, Private Practice was good times. I like the Pete/Addison thing. In other tv news, the Real World. WHAT THE HELL did Shavonne do?? She LEFT the cast to go home to her stupid boyfriend b/c he didn't like her there. WHAT?! Yeah, that's normal. NORMAL FOR PEOPLE WHO ABUSE THEIR FRIGGIN WIVES. He started CRYING when she said she was taking a trip with the cast to Cairns, Australia. CRYING. Plus, the new girl looks like a bitch. Ugh. I'm tired of the chicks; bring on another guy. I'm glad Shavonne went through the screening process, got picked over lots of other people, only to go home to her possessive boyfriend. Over it.
That's all I've got right now. Oh...HAPPY 8 MONTH BIRTHDAY TO GRACIE!!! AND..when did it become November?! I must admit, November makes me want to take a hike, jump in leaves, go camping, have scented candles burning all the time... yeah.. Happy November!
