Thursday Random

Okay, so...we have a meeting in another city next week. I'm not going to minimize the flu.. Afterall, it's a threat level 5 or whatever. Blah blah. But, really... I mean... people are freaking out a little too much if you ask me. (Granted, I'm washing my hands like a crazy person). My work is cancelling large scale meetings left.and.right. while my little random meeting remains scheduled. Okay, people, when I went to Costa Rica, I sat next to a man who drank himself silly, talked about prostitutes and proceeded to pee himself. On the way back, I sat next to an adorable little girl and her dad. Midway through the flight, little miss adorable started puking all over the place and I had to be moved. Let's just say luck isn't in my favor with the swine and flying next week. *nervous* hahaha...

I was even a little nervous at my gym last night. There's a coughing lady in my butts n guts class who hacks up a lung with every other crunch. Speaking of, my abs are so.freaking.sore today. My teacher is getting married in like 30 days.. In other words, she's doing what brides do and freaking out about looking HAUTE. She's got all these new, intense crunch moves n jazz. I like that her her motivation to kick ass falls around the same time my vaca does... yeehaw.

Earlier, I attempted to look at a swimsuit online at work. I got a "content filter" message. *nervous* I've been tagged as the office perv. Great. It was like the time I went to what I thought was In the Raw sushi online...and uh..it wasn't. Oops.

Today, my friends, is the last day for my monthly parking spot. *sigh* It's been a good little parking spot and I'll miss it. I'd better get to work on impressing some folks so I can get it again..

Oh, and I havent read Lost Diary today yet.. but what did you think of last night?! I was SO hacked at the end! If Locke can live, I want him to live too. (trying not to ruin anything). I bet he will. Overall, a decent ep, I suppose..especially the "He's my son, too!" but we kinda saw that coming. I dunno...there weren't any real surprises. The Losties deciding to flee is a little weird. But, shooting Horace was kinda good. I dont like him..he's a creeper.

Scenic Views?

So, Eric and I were driving down memorial around 71st the other day and saw a new restaurant.. It used to be Elephant Bar or whatever.. It looks like any other Cheddars-Chilis- type place on 71st. Okay, I noticed there was a sign that said "scenic views." I said it aloud and Eric and I joked about what those scenic views were.. I mean...the place faces Toys R Us for crying out loud...

Ironically, Eric's co worker ate there recently...and uh... the "scenic views" apparently consist of scantily clad girls a la Hooters style. WHAT?! I've seen the billboards, but haven't paid much attn to them...but yeah. Here's the place.

What the...?

Oh Snap.

Last time I had my hair dyed, it was blizzarding outside (end of March). Today, torrential downpours. I'll let you know my next appointment as it approches so you can plan your activities accordingly.

For some reason, I've been taking pictures with my phone's camera a lot lately. Case in point-the mall yesterday. I saw this shirt on the rack and laughed out loud (another woman turned to look at me). Yeah, my sense of humor's horrible. I know. If it had looked more like a college humor type teeshirt, I might have gotten it. Might have.

And I got new sunglasses! Finally! And it hasn't been sunny enough to wear them yet. BOOOOOOOOOO. So, while I was eating my Cosi (yum!) I picked up after my hair appt, I took a photo at my desk. I was trying to make a Zoolander face, but it didnt really go that well. haha... I had my blog up in the bkgnd b/c hello..confidential info.

And uh.. I have to stop reading about the swine flu. It's making me nervous. Lost is on tonight. They should somehow make the "sickness" be the swine flu. Just sayin.

Speaking of Lost... tonight's is gonna be gooooooooood. I've been knocking out projects left and right b/c I was afraid my hair would take forever, so I accidentally made some extra time to blog and read about Lost. Doc Jensen's blog on EW actually mentions my friend, Chris L. (the author of "Its the Real Deal" -Thomas Becket-blog on my links). haha! Awesome! And Doc has some great theories that parallel actual history...fringe scientists...odd books...cults...theory of everything (TOE).. You're curious.. you know you are. Read here. My favorite is the hypoth that "the purge" never happened..that it was all staged as a way to overthrow Widmore. A bit far fetched (bodies to prove it and all), but interesting nonetheless.

Oh, and I may or may not have added lyrics to I Will Survive over office chat with a co worker. We started talking about work and it went to the flu...then it went to I Will Survive. I dont know. haha.. For your entertainment... xoxo!

First I was afraid**I was petrified.**Kept thinking I could never live with swine infections far and wide**But I spent so many nights thinking how pigs did me wrong I grew strong**I learned how to carry on**and so you’re back from Mexico**I just walked in to find you here with that disease from head to toe**I should have changed my stupid lock**I should have made you leave your key**If I had known for just one second**you'd be back to infect me.

You know you wanna shimmy and clap.. Admit it. Happy Hump Day, peeps. Wash yo hands, you dirty beasts! ;)

WBW-Gracie style!

When I got her at the end of June 2007, I was SO worried about what I'd gotten myself into-haha! (See blog post) I drove to my friends house thinking I "might" take her and left a half hour later with a puppy in my passenger seat. Her name quickly became Gracie as (1) I liked it and (2) her original name was Cuddles. (my friend's kid named her. Wow.)

She still has that toy... It's seen better days, but it's her first toy, so I keep it. :)
Her eyes look weird but ignore that. She never used to go up OR down stairs. Hated them. She'd just lay there like this and wait for me to go get her. She finally started going UP them, but wouldnt go down for quite awhile. Hilarious! Maybe she was smarter than me in realizing those damn stairs are dangerous (yes, those are the same ones I fell down. *le sigh*)
This was what a car trip looked like...
And this was this morning and the inspiration for this post. I look like hell b/c I'd recently gotten up and just took her for a walk, but ignore that and look at her face! ha! Every morning, she gets about 10-15 min of petting and playtime after her walk. I think she likes it. Thoughts? ha! (I was shocked I actually got her to make this face in a self portrait. I saw her making it and was able to get the camera in time-a rarity.)

I heart this little dog and her adorable personality. Every single trip downstairs in the rain, snow, sleet, etc to potty... every sacrificed item to puppydom (rug, shoes, jewelry)...every excess hair on my black pants...it's all worth it for this awesome little beast. :)

Dude. The building down the street is having alarm issues. As in it.wont.stop.going.off. I was worried the first and second time. The 5th? NOT.SO.MUCH.

Happy WBW! :) I tried to set this up to post at midnight. We'll see if it works! :)

Shoe advice. Thank you.

First of all, I am in love with coral this season. I find myself picking up any and everything coral and wanting it. Weird. Anyway, I have a wedding to attend this Saturday with Eric and will likely be wearing this dress (which is on SALE now. Ugh. Whatever). If you were my feet, what color shoes would you have on you?

Basic or bright? Funky or plain? I'm feeling something fun, but I dont want my feet to look like their own little freak show. ha! Help! Thank you in advance. You rock my socks. :)

Hey, Upper East Siders...

Leon's has lost their minds. Why? B/c they let us watch Gossip Girl in a private room there..and said it can be a permanent thing! ha! Well, we can have the room as long as someone else (more important) doesn't need it...

Note my hoodie. That's b/c I went to my butts n guts class at my gym first. Yeah-yuh! I'm devoted to my cause, people. And not only did I go, but I kicked ass. My own. :)

In case you cant tell, my picture quality has decreased quite a bit on my little camera. My little Sony has been dropped one too many times-or maybe just once but it was a major drop (I didn't drop it btw-random stranger who was taking a photo for me dropped it). *sigh* I think I'll buy a little Canon or something before St. Lucia. I see an hour on cnet in my future. Recommendations accepted. While I'd love a NICE NICE camera, I'm looking for a new point and shoot for the trip.

Things I love about summer approaching:

* One of my biggest complaints in the winter is finding a good powder/foundation/whatever. I've landed on Laura Mercier and am okay with that. However, I love spring and summer b/c I just brush on a little bronzer (instead of any foundation or powder). I love it!! My personal fav: Nars in Laguna (find it at Sephora). :)

* I pretty much hate doing anything that involves getting out of the warmth when I'm cold, so lotsa errands dont get run for months in the winter..haha.. Case in point-dry cleaning. I finally took a BAG of stuff last week and feel like I have a whole new wardrobe of button downs, thin sweaters, etc.. Comedy. Rather disappointed in myself for just spilling friggin Pepsi on my fresh white button down just now. Arg.

* I get to finish that bed!! While the weeks have been pretty, the weekends have been verge of rainy every time I think about finishing the bed. My current bedroom is in a state of total craziness. I mean..it's fine...but...I think I've just resigned myself to the "I'm re-doing my room, so whatever."

Okay, happy Tuesday. Done eating my breakfast and need to get to work. :)

Monday Morning at the Health Dept

I had to get a birth certificate to get my license. Blah. I got there when they opened at 8:30 and left sometime around 10. As in an hour and a half. Sitting. Waiting. Yeah. I took a number-24- and realized they were on number 5 when the woman who looked as enthused to be there as I was called it out. At first glance, I thought it was yucktastic in there b/c well..it's the health dept...but after awhile, realized it wasnt so bad. Most people were just getting vital records. I then realized what made it feel yucktastic were all the signs with pictures of kids/babies with measles, mumps, etc! *nervous*

So, since my license was expired and you have to have a current govt id to get your birth certificate, I used my passport to get my certificate to get my license. Wow. Yeah.

And.. way to go on hanging out at the Health Dept the day the Swine Flu gets all this media attn. yeah-yuh!! *icks* haha! Oh, and check this out. You'll laugh. It's ridic.

For some reason, I feel like I should go wash my hands *again.*

Happy Monday!

Weekend Recap

Weekend was good! It was filled with a visit from Kelli, a birthday party at Caravan, yoga, down time with Eric on Sunday, all good stuff. :)

The guy behind us is the bday girl's boyfriend (in other words yes, we know the guy trying to ruin the picture..haha)
Cadillac. Blackjack....

It was fun to have Kel back! OKC isnt far, I know. But, with schedules, etc, planning a weekend can get hard. (Side note: I just remembered Jenny bug lived in OKC for a bit.. Wow. Forgot all about that! Crazy!)

Annnnnnd... Kel's boyfriend is my new insurance agent! Long story, but let's just say someone should CALL a person when the company decides to oh..say...CANCEL them for a wreck they 'found' from 2007. (I'd told them about the wreck, keep in mind, when I bought the policy in Feb). Anyway, it made for a VERY stressful Friday when I realized I might not have insurance...for the past couple WEEKS. (I didn't. I do now thanks to Kel's boyf). And in case you dont recall, I have to get my stupid license tomorrow. If I would have gotten stopped, one of you would have gotten a phone call from jail. Just sayin. Good Gawd. So, I have to get my birth certificate tomorrow (dont know where my copy is) in order to go get my stupid drivers license. Sheesh. Someone, somewhere is testing my patience behind the wheel.. haha...

So, I wrote above, but I gave yoga a decent shot this weekend and I liked it. I woke up sore the next day. That's a good thing in my book. And it didn't hurt my back! I'd love to try pilates, but my gym just lost their pilates teacher, so it's yoga for now. I have to admit, though.. when the lights go off at the end and we're supposed to be quiet and relax, I'm one of the "I'm rolling up my mat and leaving" people. haha..

I hope you had a great weekend! And I also hope you love sleeping during thunderstorms like I do... cause it's a thunderin' outside! :)

And finally.. b/c I like polls.. What are your thoughts on monokinis? (below)

No, it's not b/c I'm getting one or anything. That's not why I'm asking. I just feel like..last year when they came out, I thought "ew! No way!" and this as the season wore on, I was like "Well, I could see how they're hot...but.... I dont think I'd wear one..." and then this season I'm like "that's kinda cute.." I dont pick 'em up and go rush to try em on or anything, but I just find it funny that my opinion changed a little.. haha.. Thoughts?

I'm a fan of...

Okay, seriously facebook...

I'm a fan of....

...the beach? Okay, fine. People can be a fan of the beach. Lord knows I am. But still.
...summer? This is kinda silly... a fan of summer? Weird, but okay...
...laughing? A FAN. OF LAUGHING?

Does all of this sound bizarre to anyone else?

Operation Beach.

Mission: Look like Heidi Klum. Or maybe just firm a little (being reasonable here) to FEEL like I look like Heidi Klum (being delusional can be healthy).

Plan of Action: Yoga at my gym (b/c I think this will help with my back if I dont overdo it). Run three times a week. Attend a "body sculpt" class at my gym or combine cardio with light weights. (Keep in mind I usually hate yoga. I laugh at breathing exercises in class as though I'm 12...and make fun of the position names in my head. But it's good for you. Like really good. We'll see how this goes). Eat better in general...especially breakfast. Drop to one soda a day-max-which wont be hard b/c I usually only have one or two.

Time to complete mission: One month, one week.

Motivation: I'd rather take a nap. haha...I'm gonna try, though. :) And blogging about it gives me imaginary accountability.

I also kinda wish I hadn't cut my hair again this last time...b/c I do wanna grow it somewhat. It's gonna be right back and awkard-o-rama stage right at vacation. Arg. Oh well. Such is life.

And now I'm starving b/c I've used half my lunch blogging. Have a fabulous weekend! I'm super excited b/c Kelli is coming in town for our friend's bday! :) Pictures to follow. Obviously. Happy Friday! :)

Convo with the dog.

She looks less than entertained. Likely b/c I'd just given her a bath (hence the wet ears).

G: "Why'd you give me a bath? Don't you see how pathetic I try to look in there? Ugh."
Me: "Your face smelled like you ate the neighbor dog's poo. And your rear was covered in the dirt/mud you sat in on our walk."
G: " I smell like wet dog now... so you still lose."
Me: "Do I? You're clean now, aren't you?"
G: "Whatever."

G: "Staring contest. If I win, no blowdryer again. EVER."

Randomness. In list form.

1. This morning, I was reminded why my "charming" 1940s-ish apartment isn't so charming in summer. Two words: Window.Units. You know it's hot when Gracie gets up to go sleep in the living room. (I think the one in the bedroom was bought at cheapo window units r us b/c it sucks while the living room is quite pleasant.) I've started to go back to the old summer routine of shower, makeup, walk to living room to stand in front of a/c. Go back to bathroom. Blowdry. Go back to stand in front of a/c. It's quite a process. (There's no a/c in the bathroom. It's awesome.)

2. We're booking hotels for vaca! I also may have added a countdown to my blog. I'm getting excited. :) We just couldnt justify even a couple nights here, but my gawd this place is awesome: http://www.ladera.com/. You have a pool... IN YOUR ROOM. *insert OMG face* haha! And yes, I say we're booking "hotels" b/c we've found a few we wanna try out in different areas of the island.

3. I'm a tinge cranky today...I think I need to get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight. Yup. A little wine with dinner should help that process right along. haha..

4. Dude. I am DYING to know (1) IF we're getting raises and/or bonuses of any kind and (2) what they are going to be. You see, we have our reviews, then our bosses submit for raises, they have to get approved, then we find out late April-early May. What a process. I realize I'd be fortunate to get anything in this economy, but the suspense is killing me over here b/c it's all anyone can talk about.

5. I wanted to get outta here at lunch, so I went to the mall (to get Camilles. Duh). (PS did you know Panera closed and is now a mediterranean bistro?) I wandered into Victorias Secret to try on a swimsuit for sizing purposes (they have more online). Before I get to my point, they have HORRIBLE lighting in there! Have you ever noticed that?! I think it every time I'm back there. Of all stores, they're by FAR the worst. Anyway.. I left my friggin car keys in there and had to run back through the mall, tuna salad in tow. Sheesh. haha..

Grey's is back tonight. Yeehaw!!

Happy Earth Day...and Vacation.is.Booked! :)

Happy Earth Day; I just booked an international flight. *shrug* haha.. In all seriousness, I hope everyone is realizing the effect we all have on our planet...and how, with just the littlest things, we can really make a big difference. I might not be as 'green' as I'd like...or as some of you (kudos!) but in my own ways, I try. I dont take bags when I buy like one or two things (like a greeting card for example, etc). I reuse plastic water bottles (refill from brita and refrigerate them to take with me instead of buying more). When I think about it, I take my own grocery bags. I actually read..and cared...about the emission standards of my new car before I purchased it. I unplug things after use. I know; I'm not perfect and could do better. But, I'm trying.

Anyway, vacation-we booked it! And here's the weather forecast for today:

Low Temperature tonight: 26 degrees Celsius / 79 degrees Fahrenheit.
High Temperature today: 31 degrees Celsius / 88 degrees Fahrenheit.
And here are some pictures of where we're going....
Where are we going, you ask?!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Somewhere I've totally always wanted to go, but didnt think was realistic.. St. Lucia!!!!
Why have I always wanted to go? Well...the perfect vacation to me has beach, mountains, culture, affordability, seclusion, safe, adventure. That, my friends, is St. Lucia. :)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We had to work some magic to get cheap airfare including staying a night somewhere (really)random each way. Slight hassle, but I'm hoping it's worth it because the fare we got was cheaper than going to Mexico. (PS.. booking flights on a Tues/Wed is really a true travel tip. Best fares).
I am SO excited!! It's funny b/c I get so weird about posting stuff like this b/c in my head, it implies I have nothing better to do with my money (aka tax refund, thank you US government..haha)...which isnt my goal to project on here. Do I also want to buy a house? Yup. But, I started to realize that might not happen this year...and a beach vacation isn't going to make or break that decision. If it did, I'd buy the house instead. Anyway, I guess sometimes I feel like it can appear that I live some crazy life where I go out all the time, take cool vacations, etc... I'm happy with my life right now-more so than ever actually for a lot of reasons. :) Just sayin.. It's all about perspective, I guess. I'm at a place in life where my responsibility is just myself (and Gracie, duh) ;)...and there's plenty of positives and negatives that go along with that, depending on how you look at it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So, WOO HOO!!! :) I officially have less than two months to get my ass from looking like a 27 year old's to looking like an 18 year old's. My gym is actually going to realize I'm still a member there. Awesome. haha...

WBW :)

Someday, I will go purchase that scanner I keep mentioning. Until then, this is what you get. Back to school bash.. senior year in high school! :)

Some of us made t-shirts that spelled out "Seniors 1999"-it was a school tradition that the seniors do that actually. The bash included things like pie in the face stuff, pom and cheer doing the fight song, etc... Ya know, typical bad teen movie stuff. ha! I was the exclamation point..(go figure..haha)

Ah, high school...The building was built as a bomb shelter...a 5 story one...and the only windows were in the bathrooms. We never had any real idea what the weather was doing. hahaha...I have NO idea how I made it 5 stories in a 5 minute passing period. I need to go to the gym. Anyway, TBD whether I go to the reunion. Let's face it-I prolly will. If you went to EC, are you going?

I need a vacation from planning my vacation.

Disclaimer: I know.. I'm lucky to be able to take a little vaca. That said, I just want to take an affordable one and plant my happy little backside in the Caribbean sand for a few days. However....

-I hate flights being $$$ when hotels are not.

-I hate hotels being $$$ when flights are not.

-I hate blackout dates.

-I hate thinking I'm going to outsmart those travel site bastards, only to be beaten AGAIN. (Very similar feeling to all games on Eric's iphone...especially that connect four crap I never win.)
- As soon as I find good deals on flights somewhere, I look up things to do/reviews there, etc. So, then, I determine whether staying there will break the bank or if there are any deals for hotels/packages. Then, I look up things to do. By the time this whole process has occurred, all the rates/dates/availability has changed and I have to start over. Losing. my. marbles.

- And side note: dont these bastards realize the economy is BAD and they need to be more accommodating?! Sheesh.

Thank you for listening. Hmph.

Other randomness:
Bizarre.. I have two friends doing this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_Cleanse. Seems sketchy mcsketch to me. Just sayin.

Along the same lines, update on my "commitment" I made to being healthier and getting my ass in gear: I ate (way)better yesterday, didn't have as much soda (huge victory) and went tanning. I had every intention of going to butts n guts class, but (1) happy hr in nice weather called my name and (2) I was starting to give up on vacation planning (aka I needed a drink before I started shaking the computer...haha)

Tomorrow=WBW! :)

Want a doggie...or two?! :)

A friend from law school is moving his family abroad for a job. And he cant take his doggies. :( He has a male Cavalier that looks just like Gracie, same age-2yrs, (but with black in his coat, too), and another little dog (super cute but not sure exactly what kind). Anyway, if I had a house, I'd consider taking them both...or definitely take at least the Cavalier, Cooper. *sigh* I've been going back and forth about taking Cooper b/c they have to leave within a few weeks and don't know where their doggies are going... :( I don't know how many feelers they've put out there, but if you or anyone you know might be interested, please let me know. It would break my heart to think of where they might end up if they don't get adopted... Personally, I wouldn't move somewhere I couldn't take Gracie, but that's me.. I know sometimes it cant be helped, though.

I mean...who couldn't love this?! (pic of Gracie as I'm drafting this).

Look just around the corner...

...b/c SUMMER IS THERE! Yeah-yuh!

Girlie dinner at ITR on Thursday! :) Schedules have kept us from doing this for awhile, so it was really welcomed.  Linda, me, Sara, Kristy, Beth. :)
Friday, a friend of Sara's (and mine, but more Sara's) had his 30th birthday in a Drillers suite. Good times! (I still have no idea why baseball is "America's pastime." I mean I know WHY, but I still like football more...just sayin.)

Sara n I met up with Eric n some of his co workers after the game..and all obviously had a different idea of what face to make for this photo. ha!

Saturday morning, Eric and I rolled...er...dragged ourselves...out of bed at 7:30 am for the Heart Walk. Gracie came with us to Veterans' Park. Good times, good cause, good breakfast followed.

Overall, weekend was good and reminded me that summer is FINALLY close enough to get excited about. :) I've been feeling a little "eh" lately...what I mean is...I havent been at the gym enough to make me proud of myself (shaking head in disapproval), my eating habits...well...let's not talk about that, and my hiatus in tanning, although healthy, is beginning to annoy (no worries-I wont go overboard). With women, we have to feel pretty, sexy, fabulous, (whatever adjective you want)...to actually be that way and I'm one of those people that feels better when I get my ass in gear. Tomorrow, my plan of attack begins and this is my commitment. *affirmative nod*

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! :)

March 31, 2009

...was apparently the day my drivers license expired. Sh*t.

Thank you, doorman at McNellies. I would have preferred it if you would have also given me a hard time about it being fake. But, let's face it... I no longer look like I might not be old enough to be there. Whatever.

Lost

Another great Lost Diary... My fav part:

9:04 -- What's going on in Grid 334? I feel like this season of "Lost" has given me so many great Fantasy Football team names for this year.

9:05 -- "The ditch had a gun?" -- Miles

9:06 -- "So what really happened?" -- Miles. It just occurred to me -- Miles is The Sarcastic Ghost Whisperer.

9:10 -- Miles' mom isn't looking so good. And MIles, with that hair and those piercings, isn't looking too good either.

9:11 -- Miles knows nothing about his father. Wait, a character on "Lost" has daddy issues? Surely you jest?

The Faraday thing showing up at the end threw me for a loop! And uh.. who is the guy who kidnapped Miles in the van? Isn't he the same guy who crashed with them the second time? What the hell is that crap about shadow of the statue? Good Gawd. I love this show!

Bye Bye bangs..Helllllo Friday :)

Got hair cut. Blended bangs. Thinking I love Michal (yes, I spelled it right), my "new" stylist guy. Came home. Got bored. Entertained myself with photobooth before girlie dinner at ITR with Sara, Kristy, etc. I have a tube top on-promise.

My dog is so over me. The look on her face is priceless.

I'm the master of the UNNNIIVVEERSEEE...MUAH HAHAHAHAHAHA (evil laugh). Yes I have issues.

Do you ever feel like someone is prodding you...tempting you to completely and totally go off? Then, you mentally affirm "not worth it..."haha... But..just in general here...do you know what I cant stand? Adversarial people. I mean.. I'm a lawyer..blah blah.. I know. But, just saying I dont care enough... or have the energy to get into a knock down drag out about most things. (notice I said "most"). I can have a respectful discussion about differing beliefs and walk away content in the fact that people are entitled to their opinions (even if I may think mine is right..haha).

If someone likes the color pink and I say "That's great, but I prefer blue" there's nothing that makes me frustrated like the person whose face twists a little and they breathe faster as they say "Well, blue is wrong. Pink is the best and there is no other way. You are just uninformed and wrong." I think "Whoa, honey...chill the f*ck out. You're wasting energy and getting your blood pressure up." So, then I find a twisted thrill in bating them...mainly to see if they'll have a stroke...til the point I get bored and move on. Life is too short to be so angry and adversarial about every.single.thing you believe. *sigh* I will never understand.. But, I guarantee you no matter how much bating I do, I would never be as rude as to tell that person their way is wrong, even if I dont understand why they do things that way. To me, that's just unclassy and demonstrative of poor tact. Just sayin. *shrug*

This weekend, I dont think I have any major plans and I'm okay with that. :) My macbook will be assisting my vacation research...er...obsession. (I'll just admit it.) Happy Friday!! :)

Irrational Fear? I think NOT.

Most of you know I'm scared of dark water...particularly lake/rivers. My actual fear: dead people in them.

But, just how irrational can it be when it happens, people?! Read me.

WBW!

WBW- Okay, so, I uploaded some pics from a certain senior prank and then re-evaluated as soon as I clicked "publish post." But, those of you who were there know the story and it needs no explanation. Funny funny. Prep work taking place inAudra and my apt in the below photo.

And this was junior year White Carnation (our sorority's yearly formal dance). Aw, aren't we cute? :)

Happy WBW! :) (and happy tax day, too.. yikes!)

Like a caged animal. Roar. (sense the enthusiasm.)

I feel like I'm caged in my office. (b/c my boss is here)

And I'm hungry.

Thank you, Eric's mom, for the yummy Easter candy. And thanks to myself for being smart enough to shove a couple of these amazingly delish little peanut butter cups in my purse. These pastel-foil-covered morsels will get me through.

I just wanted eyeliner...

The girls were so nice.  (excuse)
One of them had a husband in law school. (common bonding)
And I liked her lip gloss.
So I bought it.
Along with a secret brightener.
And cream eyeshadow. (I'm a sucker.)

I still need eyeliner.
(They were out of the one I wanted. Just sayin.)

I got my Glamour in the mail over a week ago. It has been in the plastic....til today. I plan to immerse myself in the pages of do's/don'ts, swimsuits for your body type, etc. Note: I also plan to ignore the article about their cover model, Miley Cyrus.

I'm having a bad hair day.

...not as bad as hers, but just sayin. Thoughts today:
1. I want to cut it.
2. I want to grow it out.
3. I want to grow out my bangs. Who needs bangs?!
4. I love bangs.
5. I want to shave my head.

I called the stylist's place I cheated with. My appt was next week. I upped it to Thursday. Something must be done before I do something stupid like get creative with scissors. But now, to trim and let it grow? To cut into the style I did last time? Grow out bangs? Being a chick is rough, people. I'm thinking I'll be meditating and practicing coping skills (and hide all my scissors) to allow the bangs to grow out. Why is it so damn annoying to grow out bangs? It's like I start tweaking from scissor withdrawl and give in like a junkie...only to be disappointed in myself with my sideswept blonde face framing pieces of shorter hair. *le sigh*

Other thoughts. I feel blah. I kinda blame the weather today. Also, my company put a jeans policy in effect last year. That's fun and all, but it's lost its luster and now I want more tailored, office clothes again. I never thought I'd say I'm a little tired of wearing jeans to the office. Aside from that, I just feel blah and would like to put a stop to it. Warm weather and tank tops always help (are you listening, mother nature?) So does new eyeshadow from Bobbi Brown (aka where I'm headed after work). I have this new theory that my eyeliner is too dark. Hush-leave me alone and let me spend my 12 dollars on some random eyeliner with a name some bleach blonde who cant chew bubble gum and walk at the same time came up with. (I mean..c'mon.. they're like "Minky Frost.." or "Navy Burst" or "Berrylicious." I just picture some dumba** girl sitting around holding up colors, coming up with names, and giggling/clapping as some top exec writes them all down. Just sayin.)

My boss is in town the rest of the week. I like her and we'll hopefully do dinner, but it's admittedly a bit odd when your peer becomes your boss. It's not that I have issues dealing with it b/c she was here long before me...that's not it.. and I dont have some bizarre superiority complex (most of the time ;) ), but just that you have to draw a line between friend and boss and mentally keep it there, ya know. Just interesting, that's all.

Anyhoo, here's hoping April feels a bit more like April and less like February tomorrow. Peace.

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

(song has been in my head all day. really).

I have a question...ever notice how the voice on my company's commercials as well as Mazda's sounds like Dr. McDreamy? Go to youtube or something. I'm serious. Anyway...watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition and avoiding the inevitable bawling it induces by blogging.

Hope you had a fantabulous weekend! How was mine? In adjectives: chill. productive. fun. blessed. :) Saturday, I tried my hand in home improvement by way of sanding the siderails of my bed that I plan to stain black! (Thanks again, Maureen!!!) (Siderails were a good start in case I royally jacked them up).
I make sanding look easy. (b/c it kinda is. whatever.)
While I sanded rails, Eric took on the job of cleaning out and re-framing his shed. I'm glad he's letting me borrow some tools and some space for my masterpiece de bed or whatever. :)

While I'm on this, if you have a good way to stain oak black, I would LOVE tips. Google has a zillion opinions and I have no idea if I trust any of them.

Saturday night was game night at Sarah and Andrew's. Landen hung out on the boppy (is that what it's called?) and slept 3/4 of the time. Such a chill little guy and freaking adorable! We used his books as hard surfaces to write on for our own (slightly inappropriate) version of Loaded Questions (see Eric proudly displaying his book). We got a kick out of Landen flanked by our beverages...please see photo.

I hear there's an audience wanting a pic of Landen's adorable little face-so here ya go! :)
Annnnnnnd.. the cute fam and hosts. :)
HAPPY EASTER! Spent lunch with Eric's fam. Then, I  grabbed food with mom for an early dinner. :) Per usual, mom's filter was in "semi off" mode, but still good times. Love that woman. :) My personal favorite was my explanation of facebook (mom doesnt get it) where she said "Lemme get this straight. Anyone can make a profile. Anywhere. And add friends. Just because?" I said "Yup." She thought about it a moment and finished with "But, why?" hahaha...

At lunch, the Easter Bunny hid baskets at Eric's house and we all looked for them...which may have been the cutest thing in the world. And now I shall go stuff myself with Easter candy and play with my dog.

Pablo

Pablo came home from Wal Mart in February 2007. He took his last fishy breath sometime on Friday. :( Gracie and I had a funeral for the little guy. He was a good fish. He really was. I kinda want another one...but with a tank with a pump this time. I think my recent travels where I dumped in what I hoped was enough food for a few days while I was gone may have taken its toll. *sigh* Pablo Escobar, you will be missed. I used to tell myself he and Gracie talked while I wasn't home. Yes, I really am a bit odd.

So, you wanna live in midtown, do ya?

Walked in from work today and discovered sweet little Gracie left me presents (read: vomit) allllllll over the living room wood floor. Ick. I think someone *cough-mom* gave her people food. Just sayin. She's so good, though...never on carpets or furniture. Poor pup. Anyway, cleaned it and headed to the dumpster with some other trash...including a small area rug I'd rolled up awhile ago.

Saw random homeless man standing near dumpster. With my intimidating arm muscles getting shaky from the 80lb (whatever, it felt like it) rug, I opted to just walk up to the dumpster and throw my trash in. I walked up and said hello (still pretty far from him) and smiled...and he turned toward me slightly...and that's when I realized he was likely peeing behind the dumpster. I didnt look, but knew immediately something down THERE was NOT zipped up. *nervous cringe*

He said "Are you done with that carpet?" I politely said "Yes." (not looking at him and starting to walk away). He then laughed...heartily...and said "You've been throwing away carpets all week!" That's when I realized he wasn't quite right and immediately went inside after stammering something like "uh..yeah...". (Yes, friends, that's when I realized it. Not about 20 seconds earlier when normal people would have realized)

My "neighbors" are so....eclectic.

(Here's where I reiterate that I really don't live in a bad part of town).

Things I enjoy about this area of town: the roads are small. I enjoy freaking people out who are obviously unfamiliar with the roads and are hugging one side or the other of the lane, likely about to have a heart attack. I mean...I dont think some ppl breath the whole time I'm passing them. It makes me giggle.
So, while I'm on the subject, this area is cute, has history, blahidy blah...but what most places around here DONT have...is STORAGE. Personally, I have two closets. TWO.  In case you didnt already guess, neither of those closets is exactly a walk-in. During the trip to Dallas, I got some fun storage boxes at Ikea and assembled tonight. :) Oddly, I havent filled any of them yet b/c I'm waiting to determine what makes the cut. Oh, fabulous storage boxes, I will not use you haphazardly! I'm blogging about boxes. Wow.

Thanks for voting earlier. I dont know whether he'll watch it or not..haha.. But, I wanted to have a poll. I should start doing a poll every Thursday. *affirmative nod* It shall be done. Oh yeah, Lost Diary this week is posted!

Happy (Good) Friday everyone! :) I kinda wanna dye Easter eggs, but I have no real reason to have a bunch of pastel eggs laying around and don't eat hardboiled eggs...If I get bored this weekend, it might happen anyway. Funniest Easter memory: mom n dad hid eggs in backyard. One was under a plastic wheelbarrow I had. I guess I didnt find it...and mom forgot it was there...til sometime in May when the odor clued us in. It was a blackish-grey color. I think my mom gagged. Note to parents: remember where you hide the eggs if you hide real ones. ;)

I like: positive affirmation and random voting polls

I am very proud of myself right now. Why? B/c Turbo Tax made me feel good. haha... I'm a big fan of it saying "You just filed your taxes!" (complete with an exclamation point). I was like "WOO HOO! You're right! I did! I did!" I may have even clapped and smiled. May have.

Other things that amuse me... It asks for your pin from last year's stuff. I thought "Gawd, I have no idea where that is..whatever." So, I clicked that I didnt know where it was. It then prompted me to a page saying "Are you SURE b/c it will make this a lot easier" and I was like  "Hm..well..I dont think I know..." So, I selected "I dont know" once again. From there, it asked me again if I could find it and prompted me to call the IRS to get it. I think they're pretty smart b/c about 5 min into holding w the IRS, I went to the place I thought it was...and low and behold, it was there and I was able to hang up. haha.. Nice.

At the very end, it told me "Congratulations! Your taxes are done" and I got silly excited again like I'd won something.  Wow.

Did you watch LOST btw? I'm leaning towards giving it the "best ep of the season" award in my book. Yeah. He actually SAVED Alex/Rousseau from death?! Cuh-razy. Ben-centric eps are kinda rockstar-good. Just sayin. And did anyone else think Alex was about to grow three heads and start spewing smoke or something crazy when talking to Ben? I was like "Here it comes! Here it comes" through cringe and squinted eyes...and then, nope. Granted, I dont think I woulda liked three headed smoke Alex. But, whatever.

I can tell I'm getting closer to convincing Eric he should catch up on Lost. I would like for you t help me. And I also think I need more polls. So, whatever. Here's one. Vote. Please note "I dont care" is not an option.

Now, off to watch the Duel and assess whether it's worth my time this season. Yeehaw turbo tax! (Just had to get one more giddy note in there).

Way Back Wednesday and...Not So WBW...

Alright, the quality is horrible. I know. It's one I tried to take a pic of last week (a pic of a pic). And I was too lazy to find more this week, but still wanted to play in WBW posting. :)

So....who remembers the late nights practicing the infamous rush...er..."recruitment" skit in our pjs?! I imagine this was taken somewhere around midnight and Alove and I were dancing to "Buttercup" aka "Why dont you write us in (write us in) TU rushee..." Eh, it kinda always sounded cheesy but I cant believe they dont do skits anymore!
And more recently, here's a pic of the bill signing in Kansas with the governor and the rest of the coalition in support of the bill. :) I look a leetle more professional in the below pic than in the above...haha..

Random unimportant things I'm hoping for Wed:
* I hope the weather's nice enough for patio dining. :)
* I hope no one parks in my space.
* I hope Lost is good...no...I hope Lost is AWESOME.
* I hope MTV's Duel isn't as dumb as the last season.
* I hope you all post for Way Back Wednesday. :)
* I hope the geese dont peck on my window at work like they did today (creeeepy).

Nasty...Nasty Car...

(that was supposed to be a play on Janet's "Nasty Boys") Warning: This is a long post but only b/c of the pics. :)

Here's our trip in photos! Eric and I went down Friday night...my bladder made us stop at a gas station that had a mini casino. We played for like 3 min. We won! (like 14 bucks cumulatively. We smelled like truckstop smoke the rest of the drive. Awesome.) :)

My friend, Emily, posts cute pics from her self-timer when she's on trips. Kinda funny, kinda cheesy, kinda cute. :) And we were a bit giddy after 4 hours in the car and caffeine. Whatever. Dont judge. They're cute. Damnit.  Our hotel was super cute-really contemporary! I recommend.
Some people want to go to the (actually cool) club/bar in the bottom of the hotel...others like to jump on beds and take self-timed pictures.
I look like something out of the movie Cocoon or Alien. And I'm okay with that. (Please note, I had all my clothes on. I'm not a sicko. Thanks.)
Saturday, we shopped a little. Among the places was American Leather's warehouse. Eric found a sofa and got it. An orange sofa. (I actually really like it.... just enjoy teasing him). It's more orange-brown than this pic shows. Please see his "test" aka can he beach himself on it...
As you can tell, no one was watching us go through the warehouse.

Sat night, his parents joined up and we headed to a great dinner to prepare ourselves for Nasty Car! YEAH-YUH!

It was so.windy. And the wind was friggin cold. Therefore, a sweatshirt and hat were added to my race attire. See me with my guy. (aka the guy's hat I was wearing). He didn't win. Whatever. He had pretty hats.

We had awesome seats.. 3rd row and right in front of the pits. Here's a pic of some of em coming in. All tires changed, gas filled, things replaced...in 14 seconds. Literally. Nuts.
My attempt to capture how fast the cars were going in front of us.
Loud might be an understatement for the sound as the cars roared by at 150mph. So, you're able to rent these stylish ear things. We also had a scanner that lets you plug your headphones in and listen to the announcer or even any driver communicating from his car to his pit crew, etc. Kinda cool! I think Eric was prolly okay with being unable to hear me...hahaha...

I cant remember the last time I've seen that many people in one place at one time. It was nuts! And I know people talk about "nascar fans" but really... I didn't see anything bizarre. Not sure if I was disappointed..haha.. I mean..a girl sitting by us had heels as high as my forearm's length and some guys had their beer/bags/etc in a shopping cart...haha...but really...nothing crazy.

Overall, I give the trip an A+. We had a blast. Definitely a unique experience. And if you want to borrow my hat, I'll think about it... ;)

And my day off was fab. I took total advantage- dropped off dry cleaning, wandered around utica square, ate lunch by myself at 2ish at queenies while reading my Tulsa People, bought a great dress for summer weddings, cleaned the apt...and Maureen came over with the bed! It's now in my dining room/area. As "stylish" as it looks there, I'm excited to get this sanding/staining/assembling show on the road. Maureen saved me some serious dough and the bed is super cute-very excited about my new project!!

*phew* That was a long-ish post. Thanks for indulging me. Hope you had a fab weekend and Monday!
