Weekend Recap-Halloween Edition!

Happy November, blog peeps! How was your weekend?!

Mine was fabtastic, but bus.ay.
* Friday night- TU on T@p-event I helped chair for Homecoming
* Sat-TU's homecoming game/tailgating
* Sat night-Halloweeeeeeeen!

So, I'm gonna skip straight to Halloween and post the football game/homecoming pics tomorrow! :) We started at our friend, Timberly's casa and from there headed to the annual Br@dy Halloween party!

Ships ahoy! I'd like to introduce you to the most fabulous Halloween sailors ever, Jax and Eric.. haha.. :) (Ps.. Thank you to mystic tan for making me not look like Casper the Friendly Sailor).
Timberly and me! Loved her adorable Indian Princess attire! And at the party later, I may have told people to find us by "Look for Timberly's headdress." haha.. :) She gets serious props from doing the Tulsa Run (15K) that morning, cheering on TU at Homecoming, and then hosting a little pre-party at her house! Good gosh!
At the Brady party! Lauren, me, Timberly! So glad Lauren came in this weekend from the Chi! The party is hosted at an old theater and the stage is a dance floor, complete with live bands playing etc.. It's PACKED with eclectic costumes and people of all ages... It's really something you have to prep yourself for b/c it's quite crowded, but truly a fun experience in Tulsa if you've never been. The shower was particularly entertaining... haha..
A view of part of the theater and about 1/4 the stage (dance floor). :)
A fav costume... Oscar the grouch!
....another awesome one... :) The best part is everyone just smiles for your camera even if they don't know you... hilarious!
One of my fav couples-Mary and Bryan! (They're also in the Oktoberfest photos below). Love my star trek peeps! :)
Okay, I really wanted to do that famous photo.. with the sailor kissing the nurse (yes, I'm ridic, I know this) It may have taken abooooout 4 takes (on a CROWDED stage..aka not easy) and this is as close as we got...haha...Eric's a good sport.. and I also love the pic! :)
Another case of people not minding their pics being taken.. b/c we don't know this dude.. haha.. But, it was too classic to miss. Sailor and captain.. love it!
Some of the girlies! We've got a bumble bee, a pirate, a sailor, an 80s prom girl, an Indian princess, a baseball player, Robin da' hood (robin hood gangster...haha). :)
We photo-ed. We danced. We laughed. We saluted. We ate street vendor hot dogs afterward (I'm not proud of that and may have burned my mouth, but ohmygawd it was good) :) We had a blast! :) In case I don't mention it enough, this guy...ya know...the one below...my fellow sailor...kinda rocks my socks. :)
Still in the sailor spirit this morning.. haha... I think the sailor hat helps with studying for the CPA... Eh? Just sayin...
Today, met Lauren for coffee (caramel apple spice for me!) at Utica Squ@re's Starbucks! (Utica is an outdoor shopping area kinda like the Plaza in KC, but much smaller) :) The weekend was so busy, wanted to make sure we got some time to just catch up while she was here. :)
Hope you had a great Halloween weekend and enjoyed the extra hour of sleep today! Happy November, peeps!

Friday Snail Mail Surprise!

So today was a crazy @ss day. From getting stuff taken care of for the event tonight (TU Homecoming stuff I'm helping chair) to some other randomness, it was just ohmygawd from time to time. It was one of those days where no matter what you start at your desk, it will take you abboooouuut 2 hours to complete it b/c people keep interrupting. I don't mean via email...I was actually enjoying my email. Email is nice and quiet.. I was having a "let's play the quiet game" day I think.. which is hard when you work in a space with cubes and people keep.coming.over. Wow do I love having walls at my regular job... lol!

Anyway, yada yada on my overdramaticness.. Before I get ready for the Homecoming event tonight (that I'm really hoping goes well!), I had to share something! Last week, I went to an event for a local charity that helps women with professional attire to get back into the work world who have been down on their luck, possibly in shelters, etc.. Anyway, they had a big benefit sale last week where the proceeds went to the charity, etc...and Bebe donated some stuff to it (so you know I had to go). I ended up with an awesomesauce little zebra print scarf, but that's not all! I entered a drawing for jewelry from a local merchandiser who was at the sale, too!

AND I WON! I never win anything! I got the email and was like "For real? I did? I won?!"

And today, my jewelry came! After such a crazysauce day, I was greeted by this lovely package at my door and immediately smiled.
I was so pumped, but stayed calm enough to take pics of the process.. b/c yes.. I was THAT excited that I wanted to share.. haha..
How freaking adorable is this?! I can't WAIT to wear it! This totally made my day!
So, shout out to Esther at Lia Sophia for completely making my day and not even knowing it! :) I will definitely be checking out more of their stuff online when I get a chance!

Have a fabulous weekend, a great Halloween, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep from daylight savings time!! :)

It's D town, peeps!

I'm going to try to not be overly wordy and keep it to the pics...('try' is the key word here)

Road trip commenced around 4pm on Saturday to head to Dallas for Sunday's COWBOYS game! All the home games are sold.out. but we realllly wanted to go so when we lucked into some seats, we weren't about to turn them down! :) Ended up making for a fab, fall weekend!

We stop at this gas station/casino on every D town trip (we've only made like 3 trips, but still.. I'm gonna say "every trip" b/c I want to). This time, lady luck wasn't kind to the one dollar we each spent at the casino. Next time, we'll win big.. I can feel it. ;)
Our hotel, Nyl0, was awesomesauce! We've stayed there before...just at the one in Frisco. Eric gets kudos for finding this uber-affordable and awesomely chic hotel before we met (although I like to think he didn't do anything cool before me.. duh...haha.. kidding..). They just opened another one in Irving (closer to the stadium), so we booked it! I highly recommend if you're looking for an affordable, fun, chic, modern, fabulous hotel! And when I say affordable.. think 80-90 bucks after taxes thanks to expedia-and the actual hotel's website isn't that much more! And they don't skimp anywhere, either. Hotel has an a fun bar, restaurant, etc.. Okay, I'm done with the free advertising for them. Just trust me on this one. :) Oh and one more fun fact, they're a green hotel so you're not doing wrong by mother earth by staying there...well..as wrong as you could be doing I suppose.. haha...

Lobby pic. Note the hotel desk attendants could see me sooooo I opted to do a nice, calm pose.. haha...
We're easily entertained. In case you couldn't tell by now... hah...
Someone may have been laying on the bed while we talked about dinner plans when his girlfriend ambushed him with a self-timed photo...

Reason number 1 million two hundred and fifteen why Eric rocks: He pre-reserved a parking place close to the stadium! Woohoo!
The kind gentleman beside us opted to show his arse in our photo.. or tie his shoe.. or pretend to be on the line of scrimmage.. I dont know.. but I still like this photo..haha.. :)
Live band outside, people all hanging, tailgating, etc... so fun! Oh, and that big screen there? Yeah.. it's showing the Minnesota game and someone (the guy I'm dating in the white shirt there) might have been in heaven...;)
Obligatory football food: fat kid nachos.. Mmmmmm... :)
Susan G K0men halftime show :)
It was seriously a fab little trip, peeps and a great game to attend for my first NFL game! It meant a lot that Eric had purposely studied ahead and was able to take some down time to enjoy time not only at the game...but with little old me. I know that sounds cheesy, but having taken the bar exam, I definitely understand the crazy-studying thing and the stresses that come along with it... :)

Hope everyone's costumes are ready, candy is purchased, plans are set, and you're ready for a fab Halloween weekend! :)

Wednesday Randomness.

Randomness.

1. I may or may not have gone tanning today. Don't judge me. *head hung in shame* I've been so good, people. So good. I'm contemplating going mystic tomorrow (for my costume this weekend), but I'm scared to look orangey or overly tan. One of my friends, Maureen is so funny.. She says "Sometimes I feel like I rolled around in cheetos after mystic..." hahahaha... In all honesty, I don't think being really tan is attractive anymore...esp for this time of year when it's obviously fake. (Never thought you'd hear ME say that, huh?) That said, I don't want people to be confused about my Halloween costume. ("Is she a ghost or a sailor?") ;)

2. Speaking of my costume, I got it! I have things sent to Eric's sometimes b/c the mailman doesn't leave things at my apt (b/c I think he hates me but that's for another day..haha), so I headed over there with an excited squeal when he told me it was there! (I also may have tried it on and pranced around saluting Eric pretending to be a sailor of sorts...haha...). It's super cute and it fits!! (but thank GAWD I got bloomers/tights to go under it b/c whoa em gee, people...it's kinda short. *nervous*).

3. SYTYCD is coming to Tulsa Friday!! I am SO jealous if you're going! I'm heading up the TU Young Alum pre-homecoming activity at a local bar, McNellies, and I think everything is finally set for the event! :) Should be a great time even if I don't get to put the live dancers on the "hot tamale train." *sigh*

4. The Un!ted Way Campaign is in crunch time. I know our community's campaign isn't the only one suffering right now due to the economy. I urge you to head to your local campaign's website and donate...even just 5 or 10 dollars. At least consider it as you purchase your daily starbucks, lunch, etc... You could make a difference in the life of a family, an abused child...you could provide a meal for someone in need. I can't speak for other communities, but over 70% of the Tulsa campaign comes from individual contributions...not corporations, not bulk gifts...people like you and me...

5. Speaking of work, we had an 80s event today that my little group was responsible for! We called it Scary-aoke (since it's halloween week). We dressed in 80s (I have pics.. dont you worry..haha) and karaoked 80s songs while eating halloween and 80s inspired treats. :) (All the money spent to attend goes to the campaign by the way). I may have done the roger rabbit. May have.

6. I went home for lunch today...and would like you to see what greeted me when I walk in the door. If you can resist playing fetch with this face, you're stronger than I am...haha...
7. I got home from work and passed the hell out on the sofa in my work clothes (ever do that)? I think I was just over.whelmed. from having a LOT going on this week...nothing of crazysauce importance, but just plates spinning... Anyway, a nap felt gooooood.. I woke up all blinky mcblinkerson with my dog on my legs like "What the hell just happened?"

So what I'm saying is I'm now officially wide awake and will be blogging Dallas pics after this to either post later tonight or tomorrow! Hope you had a great day, everyone! :)

Wishful And Way Back Wednesday! :)

Dallas pics coming soon! But, wanted to participate in Wishful and Way Back Wed first! :)

First...the topic of the week is... "I wish I was 6 years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be...."
A Princess! I know that sounds cliche.. but really.. When I was little, I wanted to be a princess SO BADLY.. but not just any princess... the costume from Toys R Us that was pink and had a light up magic wand and everything! Buuuut that costume may have been like 60 bucks and my mom said no (rightfully so). I was still a princess, but oh how I wanted that Toys R Us Costume with the magical blinky wand! haha.. I'm being overdramatic and I definitely had some awesomesauce costumes as a kid, but for some reason just thought of that princess costume.. haha... (One year, I was a popple. Bad choice. If you're my age, you remember popples...and you likely didn't want to be one for Halloween. I was a weird kid sometimes. Admittedly).

Head over to Kelsey's blog to link your Wishful Wed post! :)

And Kelsey just got back from vacay and posted a fun pic of her kayaking! It reminded me of when I kayaked...and it's so fitting for a Way Back Wednesday post b/c it was 2008 (so not THAT long ago...whatever) and it also features Lauren.. who just decided to book a trip to come here this weekend for Homecoming and Halloween!

Before you start thinking "aw how fun" lemme tell you.. Comedy ensued. Let me set the stage...haha...It was the 4th of July in Chicago and we were going to kayak the river with a group and also see some fireworks at the end of the river path, then circle back and complete the trip. It was about 100 6 miles. Here we are beforehand...ready to go and excited!
Fast forward about an hour and picture us drenched in stinky water, fumbling with our paddles which seemed to do everything except what we wanted to do... getting yelled at by drunken partygoers on boats. It was pretty comical b/c we were still giving it all we had. Until. We got to the end.. and realized they'd shown the fireworks early and we missed them. haha.. yeah. Lauren and I exchanged an exasperated look of "Nooooo..." I think the words "Is it lame if we get out and walk back?" may have left at least one of our mouths. And the best part is.. I'm uber competitive.. so I kept trying to paddle to the head of the group and nearly kill myself! LOL! We made it, but I have to say... I don't plan to kayak like that again. Some of the things I muttered weren't ladylike. I blame the kayak for bringing out my evil side. haha.. *nervous* I'd love to sea kayak..without a set path or large group of super-athletes other kayakers. ;)

And one extra little random thing.. Lookie what I found at Target tonight for uber cheap (21 dollars)! How cute is this little shirt dress?! Please imagine it with tights, black boots, a black belt and a little short, gold necklace! Target and I have been BFFs this fall-they've had some super cute stuff lately! :)
Happy Wednesday, blog peeps!

Case of the Mondays

Helllllllllllo blogfriends! How was your weekend?! Mine was not.nearly.long.enough. But it was a good one, peeps...a good one indeed! :) I'll upload pics from our Dallas adventure and my first NFL game soon (PS.. I love that some of ya'll commented that we were so close! I never realized how many blog friends I have in Dallas! Love it!) :) We had an awesome time!

Anyway, I'm so tired now that those pics are gonna have to wait- just going to blog Oktoberfest pics from Corporate Night last week. Best things about Corp night before it opens to general public: * not standing in line for things, *not fighting for table space, *no weirdos. Worst things: *no weirdos, * no mullets.

My bra may or may not have shown up in every.one.of.the.photos. where I didn't have a jacket on. Thank you, iphoto. I realize that's TMI, but does that ever happen to you?! Ugh. Stupid flash... Just sayin...

I wanted a pic with my pink umbrella outside the main tent. Mary got ready to take it and this man ran under it so he could get reception without getting wet...
...but it ended up being pretty funny when he realized we were taking a photo...
"The fam" or "circle of trust"...haha.. Those are just a couple of our self-given nicknames. The three of us braved the firm together...and are all at different gigs now, but have stayed super close (think daily emails and weekly lunches) :)... And Dennis may or may not be making fun of the pose. What.ever. ;)Mary and her boyf, Bryan.. I love this photo! haha!
Crowded for Corp Night in the rain!
aww...
It was a little wet (see jeans leg)
"I have an idea.. Let's take a funny pic with the sign" (???)
And finally.. G money got her costume and lookie how much she wants to kill me loves it! Snow White will be making an appearance at the Homecoming tailgate for sure! :) (Please note she got a new toy AND treats for this. And don't trust the pathetic face.. Less than 30 seconds later with treat in mouth, she was totally fine. She won't raise her head up when there are things on it.. It's kinda hilarious...)
We got in late last night and then I had to get G dawg and iron stuff for a meeting I had first thing this am.. So.. off to bed for me. I'm really looking forward to catching up on your blogs tomorrow! It's funny b/c I actually feel so out of touch when I don't get my daily fix.. haha..

Happy last week in October! (Holy.crap.)

Like a Donation... Given for the Very First Time...

-Lyrics from the Un!ted Way version of Like a V!rgin that I'm making up.. haha.. We're split into little teams who come up with fun fundraisers for our in-house crew. My team's theme-80s! Holla! (yes, I said Holla).

And this post is random. Apologizing in advance.

THANKS for "showing us your city," those of you who participated!! And thanks for the kind words about both Tulsa...and my bloggage about it. :) If you didn't get to participate, but still want to, go for it! I still want to read about where everyone lives-even if it's not a formal blog event! :)

This week has been busy.. I don't really even know why... *shrugs* Anyhoo, I'm definitely ready for the weekend! Eric has been studying like a madman for the CPA and gets serious kudos. I remmeber that stuff with the bar exam and it still makes me cringe. However, his study stuff features a dvd with an awesome little dude who says things like "Bang it out, baby! You're on your way to the CPA!" LOL! Yes, it really says that. (I may have posted that on his facebook wall, too b/c it amuses me that much).

He's been busting his @ss to get a little ahead so we can totally enjoy being here! :)

That's a snapshot of our fun hotel! It's a little boutique place (and actually quite affordable) and I'll post more about it when we get back!

Why are we going there? B/c we got tickets for Sunday's game HERE!
YAYAYAYAYAY! I've never been to an NFL game so I'm super excited! :)

Oh and I finally ordered my costume for Halloween! I kinda picked it out then forgot to actually order it.. haha.. Sheesh. Anyway, I'm gonna be a sailor! And so is Eric! I'm gonna add some tights, too! :)

And just for fun, here's Eric and my Halloween costume convo in abbreviated form:
Eric: "I think I wanna be that guy from Caddyshack with the gopher.."
Me: "Okay, so we're just gonna do our own thing? I'll see if a girl friend wants to dress alike!"
Eric: "Well, you could be the gopher.. That'd be funny.."
Me: "Um... no."
* a few days later*
Me: "Lookie what I found! I wanna be this little sailor!
Eric: "I could be a sailor"
Me: "I thought you were doing that other thing.."
Him: "I havent dressed up in two years.. I'm not gonna get all creative now. Besides, I'm already deciding where to get my sailor costume. Done."
haha.. nice.

Tonight, Eric and I have a "beers of the world" engagement party for one of his college friends then head to the game tomorrow sometime! :) After the party, I'm betting I'll camp on my sofa and catch up on some dvr while Eric studies (so we can leave at a reasonable time tomorrow). :) This is how Gracie and I watch tv.. haha.. I took this b/c she was being cuddly and adorable... per usual.
Have a great weekend!!! :)

Show Us Your City!

Okay, so last week, I said one thing I love about having blogfriends from all over... is reading about where ya'll live! I've traveled a lot of places, but I find the details of your cities so interesting!! Soo... I asked that you participate in a one time post called "Show Us Your City!" Feel free to participate and link your blog post below-I'd love to read about where you live and where all your blog posting comes from. :) To be honest, this seemed like an awesome idea last week but for some reason, this week is nutso busy, right? Is it just me? :) *shrugs*
Without further adieu, I'd like to invite you to just SOME of the highlights from my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma!

Okay, we have about a million peeps when you include the suburbs...I think that surprises some people....When asked where someone lives, you'll often hear "midtown" or "out south" or "owasso" or "broken arrow" etc. (We have a lot of Indian names in our state). Midtown is where I reside. It encompasses the university, the eclectic areas, the older, historic homes, farmers markets, etc... I love where I live. Sure the homes aren't as new as in "south Tulsa" (aka the newer area), but they've got so much character and they all look so very unique. And one thing I LOVE about Tulsa is people have a fondness for the old homes.. They don't just tear them down. There are quite a few neighborhoods where people restore the old homes and they're truly works of art.

Anyway... I found this pic online of just one of the historic homes located close to my apt. :) (I even live in an old building! It was turned into some remodeled apts with wood floors, pillars, fireplaces, etc :))
One of my fav museums in Tulsa is located in an older neighborhood and used to be Waite Phillips' home. It's name-Philbrook. It was completed in 1927, much like the surrounding area! The grounds are amazing.. and as a TU student, I got in free and often wandered the grounds you see here in college just kinda having "quiet time" to avoid studying or when I needed to think. :) They have a great little restaurant as well and wine nights during the summer. :) (mmm wine! :))
On to something less aesthetically appealing.. haha.. The Tulsa Driller.. Okay, this dude was constructed for some reason unknown to me (I'm lazy and not looking it up) but he is situated just outside the Tulsa fairgrounds. To give you an idea, I come up to his shoe strings when standing. He's massive. And for some reason, people dress him up for events. It's weird.
Our skyline!! See the tallest building? Eric works in that! See the one with the angular roof? I used to work in that one at the law firm! It's called the "Midcontinent" building and was built in 1918! The tall one where Eric works was constructed by the same peeps who did the World Trade towers in NYC! :) Here is our brand new Bok Center! Thanks to this amazing venue (opened last year), Tulsa has gotten not only a stronger downtown, but also some great acts like Brit Brit, Elton John, Janet Jackson, etc.. Stuff like that used to only come to Oklahoma City, so this is HUGE for us! The center was just ranked number 5 in the US and number 14 in the world for ticket sales!! I guess we were hard up for some fun around here.. haha! :)
And this post would not be complete without some info about TU. :) I'm a proud alumni of Tulsa for both undergrad and law school. :) My mom went to TU, too! They've done some amazing things with the campus and here's just one of the new buildings. We tailgate in a field in front of this building and these fountains! :)
There's so much to say about Tulsa and I'm finding that pics aren't doing it justice! There's an outdoor shopping area modeled after the plaza in Kansas City called Utica Square.. :) There are two dog parks now...one called Biscuit Acres that makes me laugh at the name. :) There's an area called "Cherry Street" with lots of local eateries and old, antique shops....and one called "Brookside" with quite a few bars and eateries. :)

People often call Tulsa "a town within a city" b/c you'll always run into at least one (if not 5) people you know anywhere you go. That can be annoying, sure.. but as I've gotten older, it's come to be quite charming and comforting. The guy at the deli I like knows what sandwich I always order. The servers at my favorite sushi place greet me by name. Yet if I want to be anonymous, I know where to go in order for that to happen. :) There's something to be said for midwest hospitality and Tulsa is definitely no exception. I love it. I had many years where I wanted to escape....to get as far away as I could. I don't know what I was really escaping, but I think a lot of it wasn't really Tulsa. Anyway, I've come to respect my roots here...and to love the city...and to get involved in its development and future...and to aid in community organizations to make it a better city. Tulsa's a good place with a lot more history, culture and diversity than people realize. :)

So, there's a snippit of my city...I could go on and on, but I'll stop so I can get this posted!! Please link yours if you decide to join in! Post as much or as little as you'd like! :) And no matter where you are, have a fabulous Thursday!
