Randomtown

In an effort to embrace the honesty of the bloggidy I've left behind a little recently...but mostly just because I'm feeling random...

A few things...

1. I 'rescue' random dogs when I see them wandering. In other words, I chase them down to see if they have a tag. Yesterday, I almost got bitten by a little (like 20lb) dog trying to look at it's collar. It wasn't pretty... unless you were watching from a window nearby in which case, I bet it was pretty funny to watch my chasing a little dog in my workout clothes as it scurried away.

2. I dont believe beach vacations should include casinos. I dont want a casino anywhere near my peaceful beach vacay. Seriously one of the first things I look at when searching for vacations.

3. It pisses me off when people post negative comments on other people's happy posts on facebook, etc. If you have nothing nice to say, don't waste your time commenting.

4. I've been feeling out of shape and am starting to get off my arse and do something about it. WOOHOO! I just wish I was one of those morning worker-outer people. But, alas, I am not.

5. Did I tell you some vandals spray painted cars on my street? I moved from a sketchy neighborhood downtown...to a safe neighborhood...and NOW I'm getting vandalized? haha.. great. Thankfully, it came off my car with an awesome product (forgot the name) and I hope those jerks don't come back.

6. I hate checking voicemail. I'm REALLY bad at it. I have 9 vmails right now and I guarantee you the first one is from over a week ago. It's kinda ridiculous really.

7. Getting work emails at night/weekends is funny/weird to me (b/c I can see em on my phone). I'm not used to it yet since I used to have a separate work blackberry, but now it's all just one device for work and personal. Check it? Don't check it? Respond? Don't? AGH! haha!

8. I type really loudly. I know this. I think of myself as the girl from Up in the Air saying "I type with purpose." (that's just how I rationalize my heavy fingers apparently).

9. I love movie previews at the theater. LOVE! If we're going to miss the previews, I get kinda cranky.. haha.. :)

10. I've been thinking of pampering myself with a massage lately.. I havent had one since 2008 when I fractured vertebrae in my back and am totally ready for one now! :)

Weekend Recap!

Heya! How was the weekend?! Mine was summertastic. I took a lot of photos, so I'll just dive right in...

Thursday, headed to an outdoor concert at Utica Square (kinda like a small version of the Plaza in Kansas City). It's weekly all summer long and last year, I didnt go once. *head hung in shame* I'm one of those people who get all puffed up and defensive when someone says there's nothing to do in Tulsa b/c there IS plenty to do if you just look for it.. and yet I didn't go to Utica once last year.. haha.. Whatever. Grabbed our lawn chairs (and some vino) and hung out with the rest of the crowd. (Ps.. some people bring entire picnic tables and meals. It's kinda hilarious. Just sayin.).

Friday, a group of us headed down to watch Tulsa T0ugh. It's an annual bike race through the streets of downtown (see.. plenty to do here!) It's actually become known as one of the top 5 pro races. Eric (who rides) explained the whole "team" biking thing to me which is actually quite interesting. I'll spare you, but I'm intrigued by it all. Anyway, good times...

Saturday, I was determined to run errands....until Sara text me "Wanna go to the pool at (guy she's dating's) house?" I mulled over it for about 30 seconds before rushing home and throwing on my swimsuit...

Saturday night, Eric and some friends headed to see Get Him to the Gre*k... It was HILARIOUS...except when it tried to get serious. But I just kinda ignore the serious part and am going with my verdict of hilarious.Annnnd b/c I never post pics (or even take them for that matter) of Eric and me at our favorite Mexican restaurant, I made his brother take one Saturday night. You can't really see the restaurant, but whatever.. it's for the memories, people.
Finally, I'm posting a photo of what my boyfriend (notice how I call him "my boyfriend" instead of his name whenever he totally shows me up? Yeah) made for dinner. Yes, he made awesome enchiladas and mine would have turned out looking like..well...probably not like this. I take that back.. I could make mine look like this if the Pioneer Woman had a recipe with photos. (Isn't she freaking awesome?!). Anyway.... hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Weekend Pics, etc...

So, it's obvious I'm trying to (1) find a new name for my blog and (2) a new layout. I've also been experimenting with photoshop to make a new banner and realized I have NO idea what I'm doing. (Advice appreciated on how to do it, where to find background patterns, etc). So, yeah...just hang with me here.. haha.. I'm DETERMINED to re-take my bloggidy so to speak. I think I just need some spring cleaning! I was gonna start a brand spankin new one, right? yeah. Well.. I might not. I might just continue blogging here...and if someone out there is reading and gets offended or whatever by something I say, then maybe they should re-evaluate reading...Hmph! I don't mean that snotty... I guess we've all likely had times where we start editing, not for who IS reading, but for who MIGHT be. Eh? Yeah. Soooo.. whatevs. I'm just gonna roll with it for now. *shrugs*

That said, I'm also trying to figure out how to get control of my personal email accts (including fbook, etc) while still being active on blogger. You see, I can't get personal email accts at work. Right now, I have 1277 emails in gmail...and yes, I'm serious. Some of them are read and some aren't (at least half aren't). With comment notifications, facebook notifications (how the hell do you turn those things OFF?!), spam from random stores, and actual person-to-person emails, it just gets whoa! And when I can't really check it til after work...when I've been on the computer all day... I'm noticing I just.don't.check.it.period. sometimes... *le sigh* If I'm not crazy slammed at work, I'm pretty good at checking personal email on my phone throughout the day and responding to things if I need to.. but if I get even a couple days behind, I'm so overwhelmed I just put it off... (lazy? yes.). Anyway, I notice I tend to just avoid the home computer on days/weeks when I know I'm behind on my personal emails and stuff....and that makes me avoid blogger, too. Am I alone in this? Do you get overwhelmed by all the random fbook notifications, etc out there sometimes?! (I'm totally overdramatizing this, aren't I?)

Welp, now that you've wasted a few minutes of your life reading my rants... As I watch SYTYCD (I'm so glad it's BACK!), I decided to stop searching for the perfect header/name/layout, and just post some darn pics from the weekend! :)

Friday, Eric and I had Indian food (yum!) and then headed to the Riverwalk for some live music, a festive beverage, and to meet Lauren! She was in town from the Chi this last weekend. :) It was SO crowded yet we managed to find a table immediately outside... fate? I think so.

Saturday, Eric and I headed to a pool shindig at his friends' new neighborhood pool. :)

The rest of Saturday, I took a nap from too many poolside cocktails was pretty low key. ;) Side note: I also semi walked into a bush (unrelated to the cocktails I'm sure) and have an awesome and LARGE yellow/green/blue bruise with a scratch in the center. Things that are reliable: my clumsiness.

Sunday, hung with Lauren and ended up at Cosmos for some chillax dinner time :)

And then there was Monday. Eric and I started the day with a patio brunch. We parked his truck at the meter out front. Why does this matter? Oooooh b/c we heard a crash and saw his truck shake...b/c someone hit it. Thank GOSH we weren't getting in it, etc b/c I guarantee you Eric would have been hit. The guy was really apologetic and was moving so had a bunch of stuff in the car and likely just wasn't paying attn. Anyway, they're waiting on the estimate, but initial thoughts from some experts are that it's totaled. (Crazy, huh?!)

Eric was pretty cool about the whole thing; I mean sh*t happens. *shrugs* But, after towing the car, getting a rental, etc, it had been quite a few hours... soooo that was most of Monday. Finished with some super productive yard work which was followed immediately by nachos at a bar/grill. (Hello, it was a holiday.. nachos have no calories on holidays).

Yesterday, I had a blah day at work. I don't know how else to explain it. I kinda had to play mediator about something relatively unimportant and had to deal with someone really.freaking.stubborn about communications. Then, I had a random, but emergent thing that kept me on the phone with IT until about 6something. I was just so freaking annoyed... And I hadn't left my desk all day (don't you hate those days?!), so I think I was just extra cranky. On that note, it's so weird how people don't really just chat with each other at my new office.. I mean.. I guess they do...but it's not in depth if that makes any sense. Neither here nor there, but yesterday, I was just over anything that started with "w" and ended in "ork." I called Eric and aside from listening to my rants, he offered to make dinner! Soooooo I grabbed some vino and headed his way for some yummy, Eric-prepared cuisine (he really can cook.. likely better than me, but don't let him know I said that).

At the rate I'm going, who knows when I'll get my happy little blogging self on here again, so ignore my random and lengthy diatribe from this post. Hope you're all having a great short week!

Apparently I royally effed up my blog trying to re-do it. That's all I'm saying b/c I'm about to hurl my computer through a window. Hopefully will fix or just start a new one soon. Annoyed.

I take a lot of pics on my phone. At the time, it always seems like a great idea...but then I dont really do anything with them...or I tweet them. Yeah, I guess I sometimes tweet them. Anyway, it's really dead here at work so thought I'd share some from the past week since I've been such a good blogger *sarcasm noted*

I didn't have my camera at Maddox's 1 year alphabet themed party, but took a lot with the trusty palm pixi. :) Such an adorable little party at she and Jeff's casa! Jenny and Maddox opening presents...aww.... and check out Nate (Kat's son) and Parker (Brooke's baby) in the shot, too... And yeah, I intended to get em all in the shot. I'm practically a photojournalist with my phone camera. Right. Anyway.. Story: The last time we had a major storm (tornado sirens and the full nine), Eric called to wake me up at 5am when they were going off (awesome boyfriend.. just sayin :)) b/c I slept through them. When I finally woke up, I stumbled around til I found the remote and watched tv for about 2 minutes to determine if we were REALLY in Yeah. In other words, I'd be off in the land of Oz with the munchkins if the tornado had come my way. Eric on the other hand, leapt from his bed, hurled his mattress in the hallway and had his motorcycle helmet on in like .5 seconds. (picture it. it's comical). Jax=needs to get better at reaction time to sirens. Sheesh.

Storm came again and Eric came over b/c I have a basement. He brought the helmet. I opted to model it. If you don't have tornadoes, none of this makes sense. Sorry about that. haha..

My work partnered with the local arena football team last weekend and a few of us helped with a halftime thing. View from sideline=kinda cool!

A project for work I can't say much about yet... but these are the guys I hung out with/worked with last week- some local mascots and my Corp Comm team :) Things that are awesomely awkward: running into my ex boyfriend, his wife, and his mother while wrangling mascots. Just saying.

I felt like I wasted 30 bucks on a pup bed b/c Gracie seemed to hate it....until I caught her sunning herself and relaxing on it last weekend! AhHA! :)

My coworker shared one of her homemade Lost cupcakes! Jax=making friends at the new job. *insert awwww*

Something from my desk I lurve=my "little black coaster" I found at a local gift shop. :) Note the rubber band ball to the side. I get props for it all the time and kinda just wanna admit I bought it at Target... whatever.

In other news, I'm thinking of changing blogs... I think I've been kinda "eh" with blogging lately b/c I don't feel as attached to mine anymore. I dont like how it goes back over three years. I dont care who reads it, but I dont even know what I was thinking about three years ago, let alone blogging about... And I dont want to delete posts.. Anyway, I've just been thinking of starting fresh. Afterall, the "roaring twenties" is losing it's luster since I'm turning 29 this year (lets not talk about that.. haha).

So, I've been thinking of just moving bloggidies. If I do, I'll post the new link on this blog so peeps can find it. Then after 30 days or so, I'll just remove the link to it or something.

I've been wrestling with a name... Ideas welcome!! :) Who knows if I'll even do it, but that's where my head's been at for a week or so.. *shrugs*

Lost is over...and I loved it.

What'd you think?!

At first, we thought we got it.. Then, we thought we didn't. Then, we discussed a LOT.. Then, we realized we were okay with the things we didn't understand 100%. And we also realized we liked the things we did understand. A lot. Good job, Lost. Good job indeed. I had tears... a lot of em... Looking forward to the Lostie blog world tomorrow for sure...

Anyway, the week has been BIZZ.EE.

High:

Parking successfully in the covered lot where I may or may not (likely may not) pay to do so. Don't ask me how. It's a secret. ;)

Low:

Nearly throwing my work computer out the window once. Technology and I were having a disagreement.

Anyway, here's my new work team from a meeting last week. The blurry man? He's not part of the team and I don't know if he'd appreciate being included. (Who wouldnt want to be included?! Duh. But just in case.. haha). Anyhoo, the other new girl (we started the same week) is far left, the girl beside her is part time, and my boss is just to the left of me. :) Good peeps. :) Side note: I was wearing the most uncomfortable shoes ever created. Bad idea.

Annnnd here's some entertainment.. :) We're working on a project featuring a few mascots. That's all I'm sayin.... I'm so covert ;). I'll post the videos (okay, you can know we're making videos..) as soon as they're done! Today was crazy busy, but this little project had me laughing so hard, I was literally crying as I struggled not to shake the little video camera from laughter..
Hope you're having a good week! My roomie's on a hot date tonight! So, I'm going to camp out in the living room and watch Grey's season finale. :)

Oh and dont make fun of me, but tonight, I dragged Eric to see Lost-the live interview with the writers being aired at a movie theater. It was worth the cash. Just sayin. (No comments needed. I know I'm a little insane). Some dude actually wore a dharma suit. Yeah. He did. He is a fellow fan and I will not outwardly make fun of him.. ish... ;) (But secretly I kinda think a Dharma suit would kick @ss for Halloween. Eh?)

Weekend Recap!

Hi ya'll! How was the weekend?!

Mine was really good... and way better than last weekend b/c I felt so much better! Still not 100% up to par, but better... :) I took a few pics but I haven't downloaded them and my roomie is coming home soon and we usually end up chatting....sooooo yeah. She doesnt understand my love of blogging (or television but that's another issue..haha).

Friday was a freaking blast even though Eric and I didn't really do anything.. Don't you love those nights? Anyway, we randomly headed to the mall to pick up a few things then shared a cheeseburger at Red Robin... haha.. See.. random.. but it was fabulous. Both of us were breathing through our nostrils again (virus be gone!) and just got to chill.

Saw Iron Man 2 today and we both dug it... Not as much as the first one, but agreed it was pretty good. Love me some Downy Jr...Always have, always will.. despite some issues with los drogas.. Whatevs...

Tonight, some girl friends and I helped another friend move. She'd moved in with her boyf a few months ago... and well.. things went downhill fast from there. I dont wanna go off on her personal business, but it was important we get her outta there and I'm so proud of her for for leaving... *sigh*

The jobbidy is still going well, but I'm starting to know how much I dont know if that makes any sense... I'm so glad another girl started at the same time b/c I can't speak for her, but it certainly makes me feel more normal when someone starts explaining a certain area of the company and we both exchange a "huh?" glance.... ;)

Anyhoo, that was the weekend in a nutshell and it was a good one. :) We're hosting a Gossip Girl finale shin dig our house tomorrow night...yeehaw! Speaking of season finales, did you see Desperate Housewives? And um.. do you watch Private Practice....b/c I was bawling like a baby! (I watched like 4 shows today on my dvr...haha)

Okay, blog friends.. what have I been up to? Well...this about describes it...

One ticket to allergyland, please. Right. Truth be told, I think I also had a touch of a cold/virus/whatever b/c Marla's had something since last week she's been calling allergies and I dont think that's what it was. I likely caught it from her and now I've likely given it to Eric. (oops). Anyhoo, I'm on the road to recovery and it wasn't debilitating or anything, just annoying. I'm sure my cube neighbors at work have loved hearing the new girl blow snot into tissues all day (tmi? yeah sorry).

Anyway, I've never used a Neti pot til this weekend and I think it totally worked! I didnt think it worked the first time, but after a second use, I'm inhaling and exhaling with the best of em! Well...I mean.. the pot plus nearly overdosing on vitamin C, water, mucinex, etc.. Some combination thereof totally worked! haha.. :) Have you ever used a neti pot? Love it? Hate it? Grossed out by it?

Well, I didn't take any pics last weekend b/c I was breathing through my mouth and looking glassy eyed during most of it, but despite all that, it was a good weekend! Got to catch up with Eric (b/c I thought it was a little cold or just allergies until around Sunday when it was too late), had some Mexican food (duh) and margaritas (totally lessened the blow of the virus. Tequila kills germs. ;) ) and rented Iron Man! I really wanna see the second one and hadn't seen the first, so we remedied that. :)

Oh and a parking update.. My awesomesauce friend, Ashley and I are basically planning to beat the system. *insert evil laugh* I'll let you know if it works. I'm somewhat excited about going rogue on the downtown parking system.

If you're random and you know it, clap your hands

So, I went to a s0cial media conf today. And it was alright. I mean.. there was definitely some good content, so I'm not gonna be all whatever about it. (I dont even know what being "whatever" about it means, but just go with it). But....um....there were a few people there who I'm pretty have never done anything except sit in front of a computer. Ever. I mean.. maybe they've got the whole system down and I'm the foolish one. But even if I'm the foolish one, I'm happy with that.. at least for my personal bloggage/s0cial media.

Case in point, a couple times, one person said (arrogantly) "I have thousands and thousands of hits on my (personal) blog every day" and I thought "why would you want thousands of hits on your blog, cybergeek fellow conference goer? How impersonal is that?!" Then someone said "NO one who has a real day job blogs for personal enjoyment. It's always about business." I thought "Um.. I have a few blogfriends who would likely disagree." Granted, I could go with the whole creating your personal brand in a sort of way....but...well...that's an argument I'm not in the mood to have with myself and I'd rather just assert their wrongness. Anyway, they all left for a "tw*et up" in the evening and my Edge drove me home. I had no choice.. it's where the Edge wanted to go. (I take no blame for not participating in said tweet activities.)

Anyway, while I'm mentioning cars, have you seen this? Holy crap it's hilarious! See look... I'm keepin it real.. talking about s0cial media... (Yeah, I dunno. Just trying to tie in my randomness here).

And finally and MOST importantly here...DID YOU SEE LOST TONIGHT? DID YOU? Oh.my.gawd. I wont ruin it in case you've dvred it. But, um... if that's the case, you need to go home immediately and watch it. Your boss will understand. Trust me. (Don't really go home. Unless you want to. Then whatever.)

Weekend Recap!

Hellllllllo friends!

Things that happened this weekend:

* two birthday celebrations

* an engagement party for some friends

* the Thunder lost to the Lakers -booooooooo-

* Jax.got.some.much.needed.rest.

I slept in until 11am yesterday and am still completely unapologetic for it in my head... :) After switching jobs and what-not, emotionally exhausted yada yada you've heard it before... I think my body just decided to go to sleep whether I wanted it to or not sometime around 10pm Friday night at my friend's engagement party. I fought through it and had a rather intriguing conversation with my friend's parents about the perils farmtown and mafia wars on facebook (we all agreed facebook apps are annoying) But, around 11, I came home and crashed in 2.5 seconds.

Here's the recap of the weekend...and I took a lot of pics... yeehaw! Friday, was Sarah's birthday happy hr/dinner celebration at Los Cabos, an awesome Mexican restaurant on the river. Margaritas, queso and laughter were had by all!

She was blocked in the above photo so I opted for a..ahem..birthday portrait. ;)
From there, I headed to my friends' engagement party (the bride's the one in the white dress and veil. obviously). Kristy, Marla, Beth, Sara, me.

Saturday was Rachel's quarter of a century birthday celebration! (I feel old, but let's not go there). Here's me and the fabulous birthday girl!

Ended up at a karaoke bar. This photo cracks me up btw so I had to post it. I'm not really sure what's going on... Anyway, there was some dude at the bar I kept calling The Situation (Jersey Shore. duh.) who somehow escaped my camera. Damn.
I vowed I wouldn't sing. And then, yep.. there were are.. all three of us belting out Like a Prayer.. I mean.. who doesn't want to sing Madonna? Duh.
Now for the awesomeness.. See the chick behind us? Yeah. She was drunk enough to think (1) we wanted her to sing with us and (2) she WAS Madonna. She was WAY off and one of our friends finally took the mic from her.. haha...This picture is amazing though.

Today, I slept in again (whatever) and then cleaned my car...and I mean CLEANED my car. We (my car and I) visited a car wash, vacuumed, armor-alled, then cleaned the leather seats. I always feel overly proud when I clean my car. I don't know why, but it is what it is.

Car cleansing was followed by a trip to the gym, grocery store, and a 20 minute drive around downtown putting parking lots in rank order of my preference.... Why? Well, b/c I'm OCD and can't just randomly pick one...but also b/c the free lot for my building is um.. how do I say this.. over the river and through the woods. Okay okay, it's not that bad, but it really is over a bridge, down a flight of stairs, then under another bridge. Soooo it looks like I might be paying to park a leetle closer. We'll see. I'm at least getting on a waiting list somewhere (there aren't any openings most parking places). Anyway, I was that annoying girl who stopped randomly to write down info on parking lots/garages while the person behind me likely cursed and flipped me off a couple times... Eh whatever. I'm sure I found it more comical than they did. *shrugs*

Overall, I give the weekend two thumbs up! Although, I have to admit I'm selfishly ready for Eric to take his CPA exam tomorrow so I get him back in my life more regularly... :) While I'm on that ... GOOD LUCK TO ERIC ON HIS CPA!! If you're reading this Monday morning, he's taking it right.freaking.now! :)
