Weekend Recap!

So, a few of us girlies were in desperate need of a little getaway. Nothing fancy. Nothing far. Nothing pricey... Just a little getaway. Soooooo we decided to head to southwest to OKC to watch the Thunder and make a little girls weekend out of it! :)

Saturday morning, Timberly, Sara, and I headed for OKC where we had plans to meet up with Julie and some other friends already down there for the game. We enjoyed a fab little brunch at La Baguette Bistro then headed to the outlet mall to shop around a leetle before checking in to the hotel and getting bball game ready. :)
Timberly, Julie, me, Sara in the hotel lobby
It's springtime in Oklahoma, which means today could be 80; tomorrow could be 40 and rainy. It wasn't freezing, but it was definitely raining...and there were no cabs in sight pre-game. Thankfully, our hotel offered complimentary umbrellas. We were walking advertisements for the Colcord, but we didn't care... :)

After a quick cheers at Mickey Mantles, we were ready to Thunder up!

It was a completely packed house.. floor to ceiling. Such a good time and a fun crowd!
The Thunder won!
After the game, we headed to the Marriott next door until we could get a ride elsewhere b/c the light rain had turned to pouring rain and the temp had dropped significantly. Doesn't matter-we make our own entertainment...as you can see...

Ended up going a few different places and having a fun night out in OKC, despite the rain. A fun-filled little getaway and break from the norm. :)
Julie and I showing off our fur kid screensavers. :) She has an adorable boxer named Britney. :)
Ooh and I almost forgot! Okay, so I've kinda wanted a new handbag. I love my tan Coach one Eric got me a year or so ago, but I carry it every day b/c it's my fav (and it goes with everything)! So, I wanted another one I like to rotate so I don't ruin my favorite tan one b/c I haven't been able to find it again. (Yes, I really would buy two of the same handbag b/c I love it that much. Whatever). And I was thinking I wanted a black one. I've been obsessing with this Tory Burch, but haven't been as obsessed with the price tag. (yikes!) Soooo.... lookie look at what I stumbled upon at the Saks outlet! And at 40% off the already-major-sale price! I got this adorable little number for next to nothing! Wahoo!

OKC weekend= success! Getting lots of rest before the work week starts= not so successful... haha.. :) Hope you had a great weekend, friends!

Things that make you go hmm...

Happy Friday, friends! Someone sent me a link to a blog today and I found myself exploring it for 15 minutes reading through some of the thought-provoking posts. It has a lot of followers, so some of you might already read it.

Want to furrow your brows in thought this Friday afternoon? Check it out. :)- Marc and Angel Hack Life.

I particularly liked a post called 40 Photo-Illustrated Questions to Refocus Your Mind.. :) I took a few of my favs from the post and copied them below. :)

Random product reviews

I'm still alive, despite my lack of bloggage the past week. I'm not even going to give you any excuses. I just need to get my head in the game and schedule some more posts already.. sheez. :)

In the meantime, I thought I'd post some random reviews of products I've tried recently. This is just for fun, not because anyone asked me, paid me, yada yada...

My friend, Beth, told me about the Rimmel Glam Eyes mascara. It's super affordable and really does extend my lashes...a lot! I've been a die hard Lancome user, but I'm digging this awesome little drugstore mascara. And it's very black...which I also like.
Rimmel Glam Eyes

I mentioned this in a previous blog, but I finally tried the Garnier Anti-dark Circle roller. Some of you commented on how much you like this product and I couldn't agree with you more! I will definitely keep buying this. It works really well alone or, on days when my circles are really bad, it works well with concealer over it, too. :)
Garnier Anti Dark Circle
I also recently talked about tan towels. I got a few and thought I'd give em a shot. I know some people love these, but I didn't. It could have been user error (probably), but they didn't really do anything for me. And once I showered, the little color they gave me was gone. Unless someone has some insight about these, I probably won't purchase again.

My hair is really fine. I have a lot of it, but it's really fine. Daily teasing and hairspraying at the roots causes breakage, so I thought I'd give this backcomb in a bottle a try. I love the bigsexyhair products, so was worth a shot. I really like it! It's taken me a week or so to get the hang of it, but I'm glad I purchased. I just lift my hair at the roots where I would have originally teased it, spray the backcomb in a bottle towards the roots, and then let the hair fall over where I just sprayed. After repeating that for all areas I would have normally teased, I manipulate the hair with my fingers (I dont comb it again) and it really does add quite a bit of volume! And, if it starts falling flat, I can fluff my hair at the roots throughout the day and it stays much better! I said it's taken me a week to get the hang of it because it's easy to overspray and be left with a sticky mess. A little spray goes a long way. (I didn't mean for that to rhyme). Also, I purchased this on amazon for nearly half the price of Ulta.
From amazon
Finally, I found this tutorial on pinterest last night and I think it's pretty useful! The article includes tips on contouring and other random beauty tricks :) Thoughts I'd share.

Tutorial from Today

What about you? Stumble on good beauty products or tutorials recently?

OOh and one more thing! Since I haven't blogged much, I didn't get to tell you about the fabulous dinner I had with Ashley from Ashley's Carnival Ride on Monday night! She was in town for training and we were able to connect and meet up for dinner. We had such a good time! Ashley is really sweet, so easy to talk to, and we hit it off as though we'd been friends for years. She also didn't judge me that I showed up post-workout, but then proceeded to order a glass of wine and pasta..haha...(I hope you don't mind that I stole your photo, Ashley!) :)

Hope you're having a good week, friends! And thank you for all your birthday wishes to Gracie dog last week!

Happy Birthday Gracie Dog! (And Happy March!)

I love the first day of March for so many reasons. It means spring is right around the corner and the worst of winter (which wasn't so bad this year) is OVER. It also means my fabulous little puppy has a birthday!

Happy 5th birthday to the best dog in the universe! (I'm slightly biased...obviously).

I got Gracie dog when she was four months old from a friend who couldn't keep her. My friend had taken her from another person who ended up not being able to keep her either. So G-dog had quite a few owners in her first few months of life.

Tuckered out on my lap riding home from her first trip to the dog park. :)

Reading with me at my old apartment :)

Showing her TU spirit. She totally put this on herself. Duh. ;)

Yes, she really is the most chill dog ever.. She just lets me do things like this AND pose her for the camera.. haha...

So happy :)

I just love everything about this pooch.. from the tips of her ears that get wet when she drinks water all the way to her furry little white paws.

Happy 5th Birthday to Gracie dog! :)

Tuesday talk

Hiya friends! I just got back from Crossfit and plan on spending my evening reconnecting with my macbook. :)

What's up in your world? Me? Well.. Eric's living room...er.. OUR living room (still weird to say) is looking less like a tornado hit, so that's a bonus. :) He made room for my stuff, but then had to find new places for some of his... So, it was a leetle cray cray in here for a week. It's coming together though! And so far, so good on living together. :) It feels pretty natural to be honest... The weirdest part is waking up here and thinking "Okay, I get ready for work here...b/c I live here. Whoa." haha... We didn't stay together much during the week because I would have toted Gracie dog, her food, my clothes, yada yada.. OR would have had to leave her (sad face) and go home bright and early to get ready. No bueno. So, that's the weirdest part really. :)

I've been on "mission: decorate living room" since I got settled in and have been trying to find the best stuff to go with Eric's orange leather sofas. They're seriously pretty cool sofas. We got them together on a trip to Dallas a few years ago, buuuuut they're darker orange, so matching them can be a challenge. Thanks to design inspiration from bloggers and friends I referred to in the post below, I've come up with a few things! I am in LURVE with ikat, soooo I ordered the below pillows from Zigzag Studio on Etsy. I can't wait to get them and see how they look in the room! Cross your fingers, friends!
Do you love ikat as much as I do?

Anyhoo.. some other recent happenings... Eric is addicted to taco trucks.. ya know.. the ones run out of a look-alike ice cream truck. Right. Well, I always made fun of him until he took me to try one... Um.. I'm a believer. It was legit. AND they had Mexican cokes in glass bottles! yeah-yuh! Yum. I'm just saying. If you live in Tulsa and want to try a taco truck, email me. Eric has apparently tried almost all of them. Seriously.
All of this was like $4!

I went to a happy hour at a good friend's house on Friday...that turned into a happy 11pm...haha. :) And Saturday, Eric and I had a yummy Italian dinner at Villa Ravenna with two great friends. :) I neglected to take photos on either of those nights. Blerg. Falling.down.on.the.job.

Sunday, my friend, Beth, had an Oscar-watching party. :) She's such a hostess with the mostess- red carpet, photos, VIP list at the door (haha), yummy snacks... Honestly, I don't care a ton about the show itself, but loved the shindig to celebrate the event and watching the red carpet dresses! :)
Checking the list for Maria.. hah...
We opted for flats and casual attire instead of glitz and glam, so we walked the red carpet in our casual chic together. ;)
Some of the group. :) I look so short in my flats! I'm 5'7 so I rarely feel short... funny...
One thing I learned about at the Oscar party is Viggle. Ever heard of it? It's like Shazam in that you press it and hold it up to the television so it knows what you're watching.. but... you get POINTS for shows. After so many points, you get free stuff.. like Sephora gift cards, etc! Whoa! I was Viggling everything I could that night. (totally just made "viggle" into a verb- ha)! You don't even have to watch the whole show... just check in and you can change the station. Hello addictive.
Viggle
On Monday, Sarah had her second baby, Logan! How adorable is this?! I know she'll prolly hate me for posting this photo, but I really do think it's cute. I think she looks gorgeous and he looks so beautiful and precious. So happy for their little family!

Another great friend, Kristy, had her baby last week! Little Roman was born on Thursday and is simply adorable! (Pics from her shower here) I slacked on the photo taking b/c I was too busy holding him and staring at his adorableness and I feel like a stalker stealing her pics from fbook. Just trust me that he's adorable and she's glowing! :)

So, here it is.. the end of a random blog. I need to get better at blogging more frequently b/c these are getting entirely too long and full of things I try to connect that really make no sense to connect at all.. haha.. Whatever. Thanks for sticking with me, friends... Happy Tuesday!

Moving weekend recap!

I'm getting organized at Eric's...er...our...house (so weird to say)... and coming back to the world of the interwebs slowly. :) So hard to login when I'm surrounded my unfinished tasks at the new casa. :) But wanted to say herrow and start getting caught up with everyone!

First, blogger is being a beast and refuses to accept my rotated photos so some of them are sideways. Just go with it. I tried to fix them and then ended up getting frustrated and not blogging yesterday. So, by gosh... sideways images or not, I'm blogging today.

Moving went really well! It rained here on Saturday, so we did all of it on Sunday. It was PERFECT moving weather on Sunday... 55 degrees...sunny.. perfect. I think it was a sign. :) I put a lot of my furniture in storage and lemme tell you... $70/month seems high before you've squeezed all your stuff in there. Once you've power lifted a sofa and a zillion boxes into that little space, you're happy to pay just to not think it again for months.

Sooo.. We live in a cute midtown home built in the 30s Eric spent lots of time renovating before we started dating. Adorably fabulous, but ridiculously small closets. A couple years ago, Eric took one of the bedrooms and made it into an Ikea closet with built-ins. Yes, this is one of many reasons I dig him.

Lookie how organized he is...er.. was... before I added my stuff. And yes, he actually plays that guitar. :)

My stuff in the closet room.. haha..

(Sorry for the neck craning to see this. Stupid blogger. Blah).
By the first night, I'd gotten all my stuff organized, hung, folded, etc! #winning
(This is the side opposite Eric's in the top photo).

Monday morning, we drove about an hour and a half to check out a cabin being completely redone by a contractor Eric's been talking to. We've been loosely talking about expanding Eric's house and/or renovating more. When the road turned to dirt, we got a little concerned the contractor was actually going to go all deliverance on us.. haha... Kidding kidding...
Pretty drive...
Long story short, we loved the guy's work- very up our alley. So, TBD on remodeling. If we did it, we'd have to move out (blerg), so  probably wouldn't start it for awhile.. But super exciting!

Eric has given me free reign to decorate a bit so it feels a little more like my space too, so I've ordered a few things and lucked into some AWESOME pillows at Target. I've also taken on a few DIY projects, so we'll see how some of them turn out.. *nervous face* I can't wait to show  ya some pics of everything!

One of the things I've already started on is this sunburst mirror using wood shims! :)
From This Old House
Also spent some time on the interwebs for inspiration and found two very cool things:

1. Domino magazine is putting out a special edition in April! WHAT?! I love Domino! I was so sad when they stopped publishing, so hopefully they're coming back!

2. I stumbled on a fabulous interior designer's blog, Danielle Oakey Interiors, featuring great, steal-worthy decorating ideas.

Also... another fabulous interior designer and friend, Lauren, has lent some of her expertise my way and given me some great inspiration! You should add her blog, Three Pink Dots, to your google reader fo sho. (<-- No idea where the "fo sho" came from, but I'm leaving it).

This blog is getting long and random, huh? Well, to stick with that... I'll end with a story...

I went to vacuum out my car yesterday b/c it was filled with dirt and leaves from moving stuff all weekend. I was wearing a blouse that looked like this...
Lesson: Don't ever wear a blouse with a tie when using a power vacuum. It might suck in the tie part and almost rip your top off at the car wash, leaving you struggling in business attire with a massive vacuum with no "off" switch. haha... Super.cool. Good grief.

Happy Thursday, friends! I can't wait to read and catch up with what you've been doing the past week! :)

Weekend Recap

Hiya friends! How was the weekend? Mine was super exciting. Warning: This is a minute or so of your life you won't get back.

Friday:

* Crossfit where we did tabata squats and my legs almost gave out under me.

* Best thing to make legs feel better: wine and sushi (duh). Dinner with a couple of girl friends. :)

* Started feeling tired, assumed it was b/c I'm old and don't go out late AND any aerobic exercise makes me sleepy....

Fast forward to Saturday....

* Woke up feeling like a truck hit my sinus cavity.

* So I guess I wasn't lame, old and sleepy. A cold was starting to attack me! (So dramatic=me).

* In denial that I already had the cold, immediately started taking vitamins and flushing system with water to try to fend it off.

* An hour later, I was still blowing my nose like crazy, but had added peeing every 20 minutes to my agenda thanks to the brilliant "flushing system with water" idea I had.

Remainder of Saturday:

* Went to Lowe's to get boxes.

* Came home and packed said boxes.

* Blew nose. A lot.

* Took antihistamine.

* Went back to Lowe's for more boxes. (Apparently I have a very skewed impression of how many boxes it actually takes to pack my stuff).

* Attempted new yoga dvd I got from amazon last week. Stopped after my nose's running interfered with downward dog.

Sunday:

* Felt less like a mack truck hit me.

* Resumed packing and cleaning. Clorox in an enclosed space does wonders for clogged sinus cavities. (Kidding. Don't try that. Obviously).

* Saw The Vow with Timberly this evening. :) Good stuff! Although, I have to agree with Mrs. Eyecansee ... If I woke up with amnesia and Channing Tatum was claiming to be my hubby, I don't think I'd argue with him. Just saying. Seriously, a good flick... especially since it was based on a true story. Sadly, I didn't get to read the book first like I usually prefer, so would be interested to see how it compares.

* But the best part of the weekend... Took tons of stuff over to Eric's! (He's skiing with friends again this weekend, so I thought I'd get a jump on taking stuff over there before the big move next weekend). :)

I've probably taken half my closet and lots of other stuff. :) He gets to come home and realize I also rearranged his kitchen cabinets a little to better accommodate a few of my wine glasses. *innocent smile and shrug* I mean.. he only had like 2 up there. That just isn't enough.

I have to admit I'm SUPER excited about moving in together, but when I saw my clothes all hanging in his closet, my heart beat a little faster for a second like "Whoa. This is happening..." Granted, that could have also been all the sudaphed I've been taking. Whatever. ;) Crazy that this time next week, I'll be blogging from Eric's house!

Please excuse me if I'm missing in action a little this week as I get prepped to get my move on. I'm also hoping this cold I caught is on its way out... I think it is. :) We're supposed to get some SNOW tomorrow here! Bananas! If you're in an area also getting winter weather, be careful out there. Time to pull out the cute gloves and scarves I'd tucked away during this heat wave we've been having. :) As long as it all melts by my moving day, it can snow all it wants.

Hope you had a great weekend, friends!

11 Things, 11 Questions, 11 Tags

So, Cassie tagged me in a recent post and I kinda want to play along! If you've ever tagged me in something and I didn't play, it's not personal at all. I just slack off during the week with blogging sometimes b/c I have to preschedule posts or at least draft them in the evenings to tweak and post later.. :)

11 things you might not know about me followed by 11 questions Cassie posted. :)

1. I am not a morning worker-outer, despite many feeble attempts at morning gym classes. I'm actually not much of a morning person at all for that matter.

2. The first thing I do every morning (after hitting snooze twice) is say good morning to Gracie dog and kiss her on her little furry head. :)

3. I like hard candy, gummy worms, etc, more than I like chocolate.

4. My least favorite household chores are taking out the trash and putting away clean dishes. (Fav chores: laundry & vacuuming).

5. When I'm really upset or worked up about something, the number one thing I want to do is take a nap.

6. I used to really want to open my own greeting card store with cards especially designed for awkward occasions. (Thank gosh for someecards and bluntcards).

7. I can't stand dry skin and am therefore addicted to moisturizer.

8. I love conspiracy theory and spy stuff-shows, movies, books, dateline specials.. you name it.

9. I get gym anxiety at new classes and/or gyms, which is why sticking with crossfit is as big of an accomplishment for me as the workout itself. ha! Seriously, I can walk into almost any situation blind and be fine, but a new gym freaks me out!

10. I've never been fishing. Camp Fire didn't let us use real hooks, so we "mock" fished... haha.. Probably safer, but that's as close as I ever got. (I'd love to learn, though!)

11. I used to teach power aquacise (fancy name for water aerobics) at the YWCA in college.

And here are the questions Cassie posted:

1. What is your profession?
Public Relations/Communications. Also have my law degree & license. :)

2. How would you describe your style? Whatever I tried to copy from Pinterest. Teasing (kinda). I tend to go with classic, more solid pieces and switch things up with colorful/patterned scarves a lot. I used to wear all black and grey, but have made an effort to add color and patterns to my life.. haha... My style-inspirating celebs I repeatedly pin are Nicole Richie and Reese Witherspoon.

3. What one make-up product can you not live without?
Lip gloss. Hands down.

4. If you could be besties with one celebrity, who would it be?
Mila Kunis seems to be pretty cool. I'll go with her. Or Reese Witherspoon.

5. What is your dream vacation?
So hard! I want to go so many places! Maybe Australia/New Zealand. Or South America (Brazil). Or Thailand. Blerg. I'm indecisive.

6. What magazines do you subscribe to?
Real Simple, Glamour, Cosmo.

7. If you could have a special talent {that you don't currently have}, what would it be?
I wish I could not be quite so tone deaf sing better.

8. What is your favorite breakfast food?
Nature Valley granola bars.

9. If you could do anything, what is your dream job?
If I could do anything, it would be kinda cool to be a travel blogger/writer and get paid to visit some awesome places! :)

10. What is your guilty pleasure?
Makeup, especially lip gloss. I wander Ulta or Sephora to make a bad mood turn better. :)

11. What is the best piece of advice you've ever received, and who gave it to you?
This is a tough one, but the one that keeps coming to mind as I sit here and think is "Beauty is only skin deep." My mom used to say that to me all the time (along with a host of other things when I was a teenager). That quote plus lots of other similar thoughts she shared really taught me to work on being kind, well-rounded, thoughtful, etc. My mom has always been really great at reminding me what truly matters in life whenever I get consumed by things that don't.

Soooo now I get to tag 11 ladies! I'm using the same 11 questions above. Just like Cassie said, it won't hurt my feelers if you don't participate. This is just for fun. :)

Weekend Recap!

Happy Superbowl Sunday! Did you watch? Did you care? Did you care more about the commercials than the game (like me)? How was the weekend? Mine was good.. I'll get right to some photos..

Thursday, got together with some friends from my former jobbidy! Such a great time with these lovely ladies I hadn't seen in entirely too long. :)

Friday, I went to Crossfit and upped my weight a tinge! Totally doable... but today, I'm still so sore I can't fully extend my arms without really focusing on it... haha.. Sheez. I tried to find a photo of some juiced up meathead walking with his arms flexed at his sides b/c that's kinda how I feel..(not like a juiced up meathead, but the arms at the sides thing... You got it, right? haha.. anyway...). Then, Eric and I headed to a friend's bday dinner for Mexican food and margs.

Saturday, Ashley and Jenny hosted a "sprinkle" for Sarah. I didn't know what a sprinkle was before a few friends got pregnant with baby number two, so in case you don't know either, I'll tell ya.. :) Sprinkle=light shower to celebrate the baby...often for a second kiddo. It's like a baby shower in a smaller sense and usually features more practical gifts (like diapers) since the momma-to-be usually has the big stuff.  Anyway, it was super cute and great to get-together. :)
Brooke makes the most awesome watermelon baby carriages...just saying.

Hostesses Jenny and Ashley with Sarah :)
Two hot mammas, each pregnant with baby boy number two!

Sunday, had lunch with Eric's family and ran some much-needed errands. Going to the grocery store on Superbowl Sunday was probably not the best plan... Just sayin. Anyhoo, since I was dreading the grocery store, I popped in Ulta to grab some hairspray and look around. And since I can't ever just get one thing there (Target and Ulta have that in common in my book), I picked up a couple fun things too.

I grabbed a couple tantowels.. mostly b/c they were under $2 each, I had a coupon, and I have a friend who raves about them. I figured why not, soooo once I towel myself with a tan, I'll let you know what I think. If I look like I spilled coffee on myself, expect entertaining photos to go along with my review... (but let's hope that doesn't happen). ;)

Former tanning bed addict and perpetually on the hunt for the best self-tanners.

I've also been really wanting to try the Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Eye Roller (sheez, that's a mouthful. Seriously say it all in one breath. Whoa, right?). I've read good reviews from some of the beauty blogs out there and it's always sold out at Ulta (likely to just make it want it more), so I picked one up. I immediately put it on in the car b/c I'm a loser.  A lot more came out at once than I was expecting for a rollerball, but I liked the results enough, but I guess I'll see how it works more this week. I have crazy-bad allergies that in turn cause dark circles sometimes, so crossing my fingers. :) Do you use it? Like it?

Something I wanted to buy but exhibited some self control over were some awesome little Katy Perry lashes from Eylure. They were only $6.99 and I think they're limited edition. They have their own adhesive and come in 4 different types. With my hands full of other products that I totally didn't need, I opted out of the lashes. But, if you've tried them, I'm curious what your thoughts are.

Annnnd I'll stop rambling now. But I'll leave you with G dog and her new haircut she got last week! She looks so thrilled about it, doesn't she? haha... ;)
Happy Sunday, friends!
