Live from Hot Springs
Kidding. But..well..I guess they DO have a chick fil a...so alright. Whatever. But bath houses? Sick. SICK. I dont even like to take candy from a candy dish b/c there are germs. (There really are, people)
Anyway... meeting is going well. But, Gustav is kinda effing things up. I might have to do some serious work this weekend b/c Louisiana is in my area. We even cancelled our meeting (like the one I'm at) in Louisiana b/c the people there were getting so many calls from clients, etc, about what to do.
And tomorrow is the anniversary of Katrina.
So, my job is a bit in freak out zone. Just sayin. If it hits, I might not be going out of town next week for my dept meeting b/c taking our whole team out would be bad during a big storm. I dont want it to hit...but I could really use the time at home...*sigh*
Did you hear? JANET JACKSON IS COMING to the BoK Center! People, this is awesome! Let's go! I'm going! Let's go! Tix go on sale Sept 8th! :))
I also think I might do the Tulsa Run this year...5K if you interested in joining. :)
Well, tonight I have another luau and then the big meeting tomorrow morning and I'm working from my hotel room to prepare for Gustav, etc right now. I drive back after my meeting tomorrow...5 hours.. BLAH.
I'm super excited to see everyone this weekend! Hopefully Gustav doesnt hit when I'm supposed to be visiting with all of you or else I'll be at work. BOO. I realize my whiney complaint means nothing compared to being in the PATH of the storm, but I wanted to complain anyway.
Well, that's the only excitment I've got for ya. Are your allergies getting bad? Mine are practically attacking my immune system. Fucking ragweed. That's all I'm sayin.

Hi, I'm Gracie....

First Day of (Law) School
If I'd only known at the start of law school that....
* The Socratic method is actually fun. Seriously. I mean..it's kinda twisted to watch your friends get thrown under the bus one by one..but hey..when YOU finally know the answer, it.feels.damn.good.
* The Professor everyone told me I'd be terrified of...was my absolute favorite professor I've ever had (aside from my crush on a college professor. Disturbing. Very.Disturbing).
* Dont try to re-invent yourself b/c you're going to be a lawyer. Be you. Just be you as a lawyer. :)
* Worst thing ever: "Alright, Miss Smith, since you dont know the answer, please choose one of your classmates to answer it." Or "Since you dont know the answer, I will now move to your neighbor. Please choose whether I move to your right or left..."
* ...I would likely witness... literally witness...about 10 affairs in the making..in the way of instant messenger in front of me in class. Strange, but entertaining.
* Law school would both make me more jaded and cynical...and also make me a better person by seeing what I DO NOT want to become...and why I like who I am. (deep thoughts.. sorry)
* Some stupid jackass really will tear the page out of a book that you need for your assignment...just so others cant have it.
* You will learn to perfect the "Im paying attention" look while on facebook, myspace, or really anything else online... all the while nodding along with the professor and acting like you're taking notes.
* Get used to your last name. Get used to calling others by theirs...but only b/c you dont know their first name. Everything is Mr. or Ms. Exciting for a week. Lame after that.
* When the seating chart goes around, write your name somewhat illegibly.. but definitely NOT big and bold. Professor will use it to call on the class and if he/she cant read your name easily, you have less shot of getting caught not having done the reading.
* Finals really do suck. College cramming cant happen anymore. Cramming= 4 days of straight studying instead of sitting up late night at the sorority house quizzing each other and eating pizza rolls. ;)
Now I need to work... I'm not even entertaining today. Hell. Sorry!

Lil G dog doin better
Anyway, a few stitches, hours and a few hundred dollars later (yeeouch), Gracie's okay. They had to keep her for awhile to sedate her and remove not only one visible infection along her booty but another internal one that was larger, but hadnt made itself visible yet. I guess it's really common in small dogs. Now I know what to look for..but I felt SO BADLY that I hadnt noticed. Granted, my dog is pretty chill and doesnt complain a ton about anything...*sigh*
Anyway, just glad my baby is alright. Last night, I had to carry her down to potty and put her in the grass then pick her up and take her back upstairs. :( Poor thing. This morning started THREE drugs for the next 14 days. Wow, right? One of them is an antibiotic creme. So...for any of you who wondered about my mothering skills, please insert image of me rubbing the creme on my dog's booty incisions...and not batting an eye. I love her more than I thought possible. Just glad she's okay.... :)

FRIDAYFRIDAYFRIDAY!
So, this week has been less than perfect, but whatever. Little G is sick.
Conversation with vet this am:
Me: "Hi. My dog has a raised bump thing and there's some blood..and it hurts her but is otherwise acting alright..." (sparing you the other details)
Her: "Her..okay...what about Tuesday at 10am?"
Me: *shocked* "Um..my dog has BLOOD and a small tumor like thing. Tuesday?"
Her: "Yes ma'am..."
Me: "Well. That's unacceptable. Put me down, but I will likely be calling to cancel."
Called Woodland West (b/c I have her records at both places for situations like this. My children will have like 6 docs..just sayin)
Me: *explained sitch*
Her: "Okay, how about in the next hour or so?"
Me: "Wow! The other place told me next TUESDAY."
Her: "Whoa! I have an HMO and I can get in before that! haha!"
Me: "How about after work?"
Her: "Perfect.. See you around 6"
Good Gosh.
And the chin is looking less creepy! It kinda looks like I thought it was a good idea to run my chin along the cement until it scraped up quite nicely in a dime sized scrape. Eh. Whatever.
Pray for little Gracie.
Love love.
If I was going to get a tattoo..

Love. The shirt version.

First things first, how cute is this shirt I got today? HOW EFFING CUTE?! I'm a sucker for vintage looking t's...and I realize I'm too old to wear ones with the sayings I find hilarious (and we're not talking "hottie" or something simple...I prefer cheesy political ones, etc). Anyway, love it.
So, I took this from Sarah's blog...b/c it's awesome. Does this mean I need to go back to high school (since this is an activity she did with her students?) Hm...Whatever.. I'm distracted tonight and need a project..
If I were an animal, I would be a cheetah...or maybe my dog, Gracie.
If I were a movie, I would be You've Got Mail.
If I were a food, I would be sushi or just an ITR salad.
If I were a tv character, I would be Serena on Gossip Girl. Or Blair. Hmm. Toss up. Or Samantha from Samantha Who.
If I were a piece of clothing, I would be a vneck slightly baggy baby tee....or an oversized winter sweater. (those are my fav)
If I were a day of the week, I would be Friday.
If I were a holiday, I would be Independence Day..or St. Patrick's Day. Definitely NOT Valentines Day.
If I were a piece of furniture, I would be a perfectly worn comfy brown leather chair. (with cute toss pillow)
If I were a color, I would be blue. Or black. Black is classic. Let's go with that. But, it's not really a color. Hmm..
If I were a US city, I would be Chicago. Definitely Chicago. Maybe warmer. With an ocean. Maybe a San Diego/Chicago mix. Done.
And go.
Love Ya Like the Dickens..
Anyway... yesterday morning, I woke up, leapt from my bed after feeling my chin....and within seconds was standing barefoot on the toilet lid, blindly (no contacts in yet) and frantically reaching into my cabinet to find my meds. I think I scared my dog.
It's always overnight that the shit happens. So, I was eager to wake up this morning to see if the meds had worked.. Well...so far so good. It doesnt look any better, but it definitely doesnt look worse. That's gotta be good, right? I mean typically over the course of 24 hours, it looks sick. It's not that big..and I shouldnt be that concerned...but I just feel gross, ya know...
You people dont care about my weird chin issues, but I told you anyway.
The doc said NO.TANNING. So, I assumed that meant "of your face" and he just forgot to add that.. So, I went and put a towel over my face.. I didnt stay in long..but yeah.. I know. I shouldnt have. *sigh*
I think my dog thinks I'm nuts. Here's what I envision going through her head during a week:
Monday: "Why does mom curse when the alarm goes off while she searches for her robe that she hung on the bedpost every.single.week. and is still too dumb to realize it's there?"
Tuesday: "A little better. Mom thinks she's informed by watching Meredith on the Today Show. I watch tv all day...and lemme tell you..that Meredith bitch doesnt know anything... "
Wednesday: "Dude. It's 8am. Mom, GET THE F*CK OUT OF BED. I have to pee...damnit.. Look at me! Look at me! I'm running around with my bone below your bed and all you do is ignore me like I'm dumb.. Thanks, asshole."
Thursday: "Whatever."
Friday: "Mom stayed up WAY too late last night...and now she's paying for it. Good job, Blondie. Way to watch E! True Hollywood specials til 2am. Smart."
Saturday: " Oh no...it's 2am and mom's drunk again... Why does she want to play with me?! Let me sleep, damnit...This SO means I'm not getting a walk til like 10am. Ugh. She embarasses me..."
Yes. I really just took 10 minutes to write all that and I found myself comical. Little Gracie is awesome...She needs another photo shoot soon. I shall post pics.

"I jumped you this morning"
So, yeah, this was AFTER I woke up, chin itching and hurting, and felt it....TWO LITTLE BUMPS. RIGHT IN THE SAME DAMN PLACE THEY WERE IN BEFORE.
That's right, people. It's back. The "I'm not sure what this is, but it isnt a cold sore.." shit.. The "Hey, I'll prescribe you valtrex to the tune of 50 damn pills before your labs come back and tell me I was 100% wrong.." Or better...the "maybe it's an insect bite." Or my favorite "well, if it comes back again, call me and we'll run more tests..."
NO. THANK. YOU.
It's none of those things. It's annoying. This is number three. Personally, I think it IS a cold sore and I have no explanations for his labs. And I cant tan. which is bullshit.
Anyway, my chin bumps and I got a new battery today. I took the car to wal-mart (both b/c it's close to work and b/c I needed somewhere to wander). I ended up going to McDonalds, buying fruit, reading a magazine, perusing the basket section (I dont know, people) and eating a doughnut. People are nice at Wal Mart in the morning. Just sayin. You know who makes me happy? Door greeters. I like them. I always stop and talk to them. Weird? Whatever. I dont care. I have facial bumps..no one else will talk to me. In all fairness, it's not that bad. I'm just annoyed.
I drove past St. Francis when going to pay my car insurance (remembering it was due today while paying for my car battery-oooops!). I thought "Stop being a baby, Jax. You had a dead battery and a bump on your chin. Really? You're passing a hospital. Things could be worse for you..."
So, I bucked up.
We have a work promo that I find HILARIOUS. I cant write about it on here b/c that would be wrong, but it's funny, people. It's not supposed to be. Granted, this is coming from the person who laughs at inappropriate times in movies (Seen The Island? Yeah. I laughed at the end...people were crying and I was laughing so hard I almost peed myself).
Alright, so to end this blog:
- Watching LC on a date last night was like watching my plant grow. Seriously. Get a brain, Lauren. Use it when you talk to people. Thank you.
- My apt is looking cute! I dont plan to do anything with it tonight other than watch Big Brother with my shit all around me... (think: not unpacked suitcase, picture frames, old curtains...etc)
- Our work server was down almost all day and I thought I was going to die from blog deprivation.
- Promo codes rock my world. Need to order something online? Yeah.. be sure to google "promotional code for ___(store)" ...Just sayin.
- The cell phone ring that sounds like a submarine makes me want to scratch my eyeballs out.
Love from the office. Heading home with my new battery. Be jealous. I'm supercharged, bitches.

"Are your earrings Texas? Like the state?"
So, I'm relatively boring today and I'll apologize for that in advance.I've created a monster with decorating my apt. I know how I get.. I start a project then get busy so I kinda neglect it. So, while I've got the time, I'm getting stuff! Spent my lunch at old time pottery. Yeah. I did. I got some awesome textured metal wall tiles (I'll take a picture). I have no idea how they'll look, but I wanted them and they weren't expensive, so whatever.
I'm nesting, people. Leave me alone.
Maybe.. just maybe.. I'm consuming my time with this project so as to not think about (1) the potential opportunity with my company someone candidly told me I might be considered for...(2) whether my boyfriend is moving to Asia.... (3) that I need a new car but dont have the patience (4) that I kinda want to buy a house but the whole "i have no idea what I'm doing" thing is kinda a bar to that.
So, just let me decorate instead of consuming large amounts of wine. alone. in my apartment. It's better than buying some random handbag I dont need. (I told myself that this weekend as I was holding a very expensive bag that I was talking myself into).
So...to move into a completely different subject...The HILLS starts back tonight! I'm less interested now that LC actually thinks she's famous but I'm hoping Heidi causes some drama...along with Spencer and his flesh colored beard. (God, I love Joel McHale on the Soup)...
Alright..back to the real world for another 30 minutes or so...I'm wearing the glasses today. It was a glasses day. Just sayin..
