Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy

I saw this on Grace's blog and decided to do it....b/c, for once, even I am getting tired of my blogs made mostly of pictures. I have things to say! Hmph! (I just couldnt think of any-hence this random thing where I tag you all). Whatever.

Here are the rules:
1) List Six Unimportant Things That Make You Happy.
2) Mention and link to the person who tagged you
3) Tag six of your favorite bloggers to play along, and comment on their blog to let them know they've been tagged.

1. Milk expiration dates/events in my life. What do I mean? Before vacation, I bought milk..or cheese...or some product that annoyingly expires before my single-living self can likely devour said product. Anyway...it expired on....the 9th! I was so excited I looked gleefully ridiculous in the store...b/c it expired DURING MY VACATION! I was like "YAY! It's that close! I can't wait to go!!" Yesterday, I had a cereal craving (easy, cold, crunchy goodness..mmm..) and went to purchase milk. When does it expire? My birthday next week...whcih in turn reminded me my bday was next.freaking.week. and again, stupid smile standing alone at the store.
2. My dog every morning (and in general). The alarm goes off, I hit snooze (three times, but who's counting). The entire time, she just lays there sleeping. When I finally decide to get up, I say good morning to her and she drags herself up to where I am, lays her head on me and I pet her for a few min before I hit the shower. :)
3. Birthday month horoscopes in magazines. This one's a given.
4. Random text messages. I like all text messages, that's no secret (hello, unlimited plan). But, ya know...the ones where I'm not planning, discussing something in 160 characters or less, yada yada. I just love those random, fun, funny, sweet, bizarre, whatever ones that I totally wasn't expecting. Eric's quite good at them. :) Even loved it when Sarah and I were texting Britney lyrics back and forth before ticket purchasing. Yeah. See-lame. Love it. I smile.
5. Putting tickets to events on my fridge. No, I don't mean movies, people. I mean...sporting events, plays, airplane boarding passes from vacay, etc. For some reason, I just love it. :)
6. The sound of cicadas. I know.. it's rather annoying sound sometimes, but it's also a sound of summer. It reminds me of pool time that lasts into the evenings, old camping trips, grilling out and sitting outside with friends, etc.

Who do I tag? Everyone reading this. I don't play by the rules. Do it. It's fun.

Hope you're having a less-than-manic Monday!

Weekend Recap!!!

I am DYING to finish uploading my St. Lucia pics to the blog, but I had to cover this weekend first b/c it was busy, but great! :)  Friday, I had dinner with Brandy at Oscars...which we didn't know was their 1 year anniversary of being open! Needless to say dinner turned into midnight quickly- chatting, laughing and seeing friends. :)

Saturday, Kristy had a small group over to her parents' house for a pool day! Here are Kristy, Me, Marla...all sucking in and laughing about it...nice.

Sunny, my friend's german shepherd puppy was loving the rafting action.
Okay, see that raft? It's called port-o-pong.. that's right..for in-pool beer pong! Coolest. thing. ever.
Went home and got ready for Ashley and Lee's wedding out at Vesica Piscis chapel in Catoosa. The name means a shape which is basically the intersection of two circles (I may have just looked that up). I'd never been to a ceremony out there and I have no idea why not b/c it was simply beautiful!!!

You should have seen Lee's face when he saw Ashley...so amazing. :)

YAY!!!!! Sorry it's a little blurry.. had to play with camera settings to kill the backlight from the windows. :)
Introducing....the new Mr. and Mrs!!!!!!!
I love this one-they both look so happy! :)
The tables had papers for everyone to fill out with how far you traveled, fav bride/groom memories, wishes for the couple, etc. Upon looking around, everyone was filling them out! Great idea, Ashley!!
They had a candy table which was a huge hit. Did I say huge b/c I meant humongous! (Humongous is a funny looking word-I had to look it up.)
I'm horrible with flower names. Horrible. But, I love love LOVED the centerpieces-so bright, pretty, classy, elegant. (Lauryl, my fav flower expert, what are these called?? :))
Yum. :)
And o.m.g...they had a mashed potato bar! I'd never seen one, but what a fab idea! Toppings (cheese, bacon, butter, etc) were to the sides. Love me some potatoes! (The rest of the food was awesometastic, too but gawd I love potatoes...haha!)
The beautiful bride and me. :)
Oddly enough, Eric's friend was getting married the same day, same time at another location. So, we both attended our friends' events sans dates. Kinda worked out tho b/c check out how many Chi Os were there-most sans date as well! :) So great to see everyone!
Droppin it like it's hot...
Grace doing her dance....haha.. Love it.
Like a prayer!

And for those of you who know what I'm talking about, you'll laugh at this. I shot a super quick vid of the "hands in" end of Like a Prayer we always do! haha! Yeah, I did. I shot another one of us all singing, but you can hear me WAY too much so that video got nixed...*nervous face*

Finally-a bouquet toss I don't hate! I'm usually up there with the 12 year olds one of the only chicks out there with one hand on my wine and the other at my side..haha. But, it was a blast as like 15 of us stood out there laughing as Mary (the maid of honor) flailed for the bouquet and got it! Cutetastic! :)
I have no idea who's grabbing Lee's booty, but it's comical... :)
Grace has a new dance. She's prepping for it now by removing her shoe.
Annnnd here it is (see her holding the shoe to her ear like a phone..) I love Grace! haha!
Getting ready to throw rose petals at the bride and groom as they depart! :)
Hooray! Congrats, Ashley and Lee! You guys know how to throw a fabulous party! You're an outstanding (and gorgeous!) couple and I'm so happy for you! Thanks for including me in your awesome day! :)
And after a girlie night for me, a bachelor party for Eric's friend, two weddings on Saturday and Fathers Day stuff today, I'm hoping to get some laid back time with that guy I went on vacation with before the weekend's over so I'm signing off! At the very least, my overflowing laundry needs some attention. *nervous*

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! More St. Lucia pics tomorrow! (I can sense the excitement....haha....).

A Break in the Vaca Posting...

I.am.so.tired. I dont have the energy to devote to the proper attn my vaca pics deserve right now..haha.. I drove home today and went straight to work. I didn't exactly do brain surgery at work, but still. Then, went home and took Eric to dinner to celebrate him moving into a different dept at work soon (thus meaning he's officially out of the training program...which is over a year!). Hooray!! (And we had sushi...which deserves another hooray. Sadly, I missed ITR even when I had actual FRESH fish right there..haha.. hilarious. Then again, it's the ITR salad I'm in love with, not really fish.)

It's kinda funny b/c after spending so much time together on vaca and getting along amazingly the whole time (and not even getting tired of each other!), the whole not being around each other this week was so bizarre. I realize that sounds incredibly lame. It's my blog. I can be lame.  :)

Then, planned on going home, but my friend was hosting a surprise party at the Philtower lofts downtown for another friend and I had to go wish a happy bday!!! Went to get Grace from mom's...and am just sitting down. *sigh of relief* :)

So... I DO have pics even though they're not tropical. I forgot I had my camera in LR! Remembered in time to get a self timed pic of Aud and me at happy hr. Sad I didnt get one of Melissa and my dinner...
Here's the surprise party tonight-birthday girl in middle in blue.  :)
The patio. I'd never been up to the the Philtower so it was kinda cool... :)
Happy bday!!! :)
I may or may not finish watching SYTYCD tonight... So tired..but I just.cant.stop.watching. It's an addiction.....

Oh, and guess who got tickets to BRITNEY SPEARS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right! Sarah and I are paying more than we likely should to see her prance around in leather in a circus ring! haha! We love Brit Brit. It's worth it!!!!!! :)

TGIF. :) Happy Friday!!

St. Lucia Day Four..and other stuff :)

So I'm sitting at Audra and Mike's in Little Rock and blogging on the sofa while we watch baseball. :) Stacia, I owe you wine + lunch next time fo sho! Thought I'd be here one night and ended up being two. Heading back first thing in the am. Anyhoo, good times b/c Little Rock is super cute. We went to happy hr at Prost and dinner at ZaZa (?). :)

Meeting today was good. It was a lot of numbers stuff so it sailed over my head, but it was still worthwhile... My hotel room. Oh sheez people. It was right off the pool. So it was loud SUPER late (2am). And then the curtains were stuck open so "here come the sun" at about...oh 6something am. Jax=sleepy.

Today, I really had a few "gah, I really want another vacation" moments. I mean moments where I got full out pouty (not in front of people but still...). Work travel to Little Rock-not the same thing as St. Lucia.. haha...

Okay, sooo here we go...we woke up early (thanks to our early bedtime) and opted to figure out what to do. Local magazines give tonsa options and I was feeling adventurous so we perused.
...view from the side of our balcony/stairs....
After the perusing a bit, my adventuresome side died down when I realized I'd rather just beach myself on a lounge chair. Eric was in full support. The hotel's beach is a 30 second water taxi ride across the bay. I needed a coke first. Bad. (made w/REAL sugar there.. yum!) In the cafe was a little money collection for their version of the SPCA, but it was called SLAPS. I enjoyed that for some reason.
These are our chairs. Don't try to take them. Eric might eff you up...or challenge you to a fencing match... I can't decide what this stance is.. hah...
This beach is actually the Doolittle's beach...called that b/c it was the place of the original movie's filming! (Dr. Doolittle for those of you operating a little slower today like me).
Alright, for some reason we both agreed I look prego in this pic. It's the way the sun hits my tummy or something.. I dont know. But, it's hilarious. And you'll note that it's NOT on fbook for that very reason.
Much like the angelfish from day 1, a local made stuff out of palm trees on this beach too...and of course we're total suckers.  This time it was a rose. :) My first official rose from Eric...I'm a fan. It made the trip home...a little flatter and browner, but it's in Tulsa. :)
Eric walked off for a sec...and returned with beer. This is why we get along so well.. haha...
Okay, I realize this isn't as funny to you guys even if I tell the story.. but Eric randomly went walking. I started snapping pictures. They're HILARIOUS. Eric's walking..walking.. walking into water..looking for something...looking.. not finding it...coming back. It was like he was on planet Eric and had no idea I was photo-ing the whole thing... Comedy. At least to me it was. *Shrug*
Hi, I'm Jax and I love the self timer...
And I love ALL of these sooooo I posted them all... haha.. I was like "I want one holding hands" and Eric set it to take three in a row :) I may or may not have purchased a frame with three slots to put all these in. :)

I may have tried tried to shimmy up the palm tree...and failed miserably. The pictures of it are NOT my most flattering. Sooo.. I opted to hug it...
After he accepted the challenge from me, I was defeated. Damn upper body strength. Who needs it? Whatever.
The dude our friends later defined as "fruit man" rolled in with bananas to the beach. (They got suckered with about 20 bananas...haha). Eric was like "Hey, how much for one?" The guy looked at us like we were the dumbest people on earth, laughed and said "100 US." haha... He then brought us a bunch and said "5 EC" (or about 2 bucks). Funny.
My name is Eric and I love bananas.
Lunch at Doolittles. Everywhere we went, I fed the animals-usually dogs. I'd do it in plain view, when Eric wasn't looking, or just all out put my plate on the floor (when appropriate like an outdoor bbq or something). I felt badly for them! (Although most looked pretty well fed on this end of the island). I tossed this little guy a piece of my burger and forgot about him...until he leapt up pawing at my arm like "hey, b*tch, I want more! Look, I'm cute!" So, I obliged.
The shopping center at the marina. I was like "Do something! I want a picture of the shops..." This was the result..haha...
This was the other pool, the infiniti one. I have no idea what I was doing but wanted you to see the pool.
See Eric on our patio? Look at the center building, second floor (the first floor you can see) on the left! :)
Back from the beach and continued our completely and totally lazy day by ordering tropical beverages and getting pruntastic in the pool. :) And my hand looks freakishly large. Ignore that. But, please pay attn to the drinks. I ordered a sunset something. Eric ordered something else. His came out...PURPLE! BAHAHAHAHA! Eric Some random person switched the drinks in this pic to look like the purple Barney drink belonged to moi. Nice.
We ended up staying til the swim up bar closed (yeah, I know). The manager came out and talked to us and our little group about the hotel, boats, storms, etc... Kinda fun. :)
Okay, the people behind Eric are the French music video people. Guys, these peeps were ridic. They were "underwater filming" a girl flailing swimming around with a camera no nicer than ours. In other words, they were full of shit and using their "video" as an excuse to use this awesome hotel and get perks. They were loud, smoking, and totally annoying. We saw them on the balcony of a room, the girl was booty dancing on an umbrella pole as though it was NOT an umbrella pole if you catch my drift. Til we heard it was a music video, we were convinced it was something a little more amateur..hint hint. Sick. haha...

The good news, however, is through our distaste for them, we bonded with an AWESOME couple from Washington DC also at the pool! :) (pics to follow). She's a lawyer turned public affairs person and her hubby just got his MBA! Cant imagine what we had in common..;)
Okay, one of our new friends told us a story about a dvd being left in their player. Long (and slightly inappropriate) story, but we checked and alas, no dvds for us...hahahaha!
Headed to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant and needed (not wanted, NEEDED) a pic at the pink bar! :)
Yay new friends! (left to right) Michael and Tracey both live in Florida. She's a ballet dancer and actually almost joined the Tulsa ballet! They were in St. Lucia for their one year wedding anni. (I like saying "anni" for some reason.) Greg and Jessica are from DC and were there for Greg's 30th bday! Oh and there's Jackie and Eric.. they're just awesome. period...haha.. :)
Shockingly this was only the second time we ordered dessert! A chocolate cakeball thing with ice cream!
There's that monster boat, Vive La Vie! It had disco type lights that changed colors on the top floor... Yeah. This was equivalent to the second floor or more of our hotel (to give you idea of size)
Welp, that's it for day four! I think we're all about to hit the hay and I've got an early drive ahead. SOOO glad I didn't try to do it tonight though b/c the minivan and I woulda been somewhere in a ditch. That's not funny. Sorry-I'm sleepy...haha...

Happy Thursday. When I don't have any more vacation days to post, I think I'll be sad. *concerned look* Hmm.. Thankfully, I have a friend's FABULOUS wedding to post about soon, too! :)
