VAMOOSA

So, in high school, a good friend of mine, Shawna, and I started talking in the cafeteria. She told me about how she'd had a blowout on the way to a football game in Ada, blah blah.. and ended up by a creeptastic cemetery. It went something like this:

Shawna: "So, there's this town.. that IS a cemetery."
Me: (half interested) "What?"
S: "Yeah, and it's eff-ing creepy. Little houses sit above the graves...and inside the houses are clothes and flowers and shit."
Me: "Um.. okay. Whatever.." (totally not believing her)
S: "SERIOUSLY. I think I can find it again. Wanna go after school since you dont believe me?"
Me: Thinking.. its a two hour drive.. "Sure."

We went. I was in my pom uniform. It was dreary outside. She was sooo right. Creepy Vamoosa is a little cemetery...complete with PICTURES on the graves, little houses that cover the graves, all having little windows shaped like diamonds. We creeped out and left in about 15 minutes.. and this was before I was picture crazy, so no evidence. But, you can picture two high schoolers, one in a bright red pom outfit, checking out a cemetery. Made for a horror movie plot, I think...

Ive told this story and people dont believe me. Welp, I told a co-worker headed to Ada yesterday and he stopped and took a photo!!!!

He also confirmed that it might be one of the creepiest places EVER. There are indeed clothes and flowers in those houses (as you can see from the diamond windows looking in)...and there are pictures on some of the freshly dug graves. Hello, creeptastic. Thank you very much.

Anyone up for a road trip?

I was on that trip with you two. Or I went with Shawna on my own but I've been there and it was super creepy. I think I blocked that out of my mind till now. Remember there were clothes in those "houses" and there was one larger house. Ugghh I have chills. I remember this because we talked about going when we were at Eastland Mall and then we just got up and went.

This has to be one of the most random posts ever. I can't believe you just got in the car and drove there in high school. I was not that brave.

hahaha OK when I was in 7th grade I took a photography elective at my middle school in Alabama. We went on a field trip to a cemetery in Lanett where we were supposed to take Black and White and Color pictures of the graves.
Myself and another girl named Joy found the grave of 4 year old Nadine Earle. It too, had a dollhouse atop it. It was made of brick and wood, with windows, a front door, shutters, and even a fireplace. There is a small compartment of stairs that lead a few feet down to her grave. There is also a vast toy collection inside the dollhouse.

You can google Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama. haha I still have some black and white close ups that I took. Cemeteries are sooooo creepy in black and white...at least my doll house ones are!

I love creepy stuff like that. We have a few famous places in Arkansas. I need to go see the Gurdon Light...not like Guiding Light said with a crazy country accent but there's actually a town called Gurdon.

There is nothing creepy or wierd or cultish about the houses on those graves. This is a custom of the Seminole Indian people. Those are Seminole graves. Show some respect.

My great grandmother and some other family is in that cemetary. It is an Indian thing yes, like 'anonymous' said.

And yes it is hella creepy!!!

Iv seen those little houses, Alot of my family is at Vamoosa cemetery . I totally understand how kids that havnt been around Indian culture would find it creepie , If yall were raised with the seminole culture you would feel just alittle embarrassed or ignorant. Its totally disrespectful for yall to even look in those little houses.
