Things you dont care about.

1. I got up at 4am on Monday to head to Louisiana.

2. Arrived and drove to Baton Rouge. Meetings with VP, room setup, run throughs, etc.

3. Got to hotel room at 5:05 pm and did a little cheer.. I had one hour and a half til dinner. I would get to lay down for a second.. yay!

4. 5:08pm my phone rang. It was my VP. Headed back to office to go over messaging until we left for dinner.

5. In my 4am makeup and outfit, headed to dinner with the group where I politely tried to engage people in conversations without yawning..haha... Ended at 9:30.

6. Went to room and went directly to sleep.

7. Meeting at 7:15 am with both vps and guest speakers before the real meeting to go over the flow and answer any last minute questions.

8. 8:30 am.. We're on! :)

9. Fixed a lunch issue (we didnt have an event planner at this meeting).

10. Meeting was GREAT! Ended, had debrief and went to print my boarding pass.

11. OOPS! Business travel had booked me on a flight..for TONIGHT (instead of last night).

12. Got it changed for a small fee...but Edouard wasnt really being nice so after a layover at DFW, landed at 12:45 am (and..uh..why do they close the restaurants at the airport at like 9? that's ridic).

13. Woke up a little late and here I am... taking care of stuff for next week!

14. Best part.. I still really love my job.. like really...Just tired. :) But, man...its good to feel needed. I never had that feeling at the firm... :)

15. Oh, no..THIS is the best part...almost forgot.. I was tired of being dressed up, so I changed...at the Baton Rouge airport..in the lactation room. And I took a picture b/c I was sleepy and needed to entertain myself. B/c seriously.. I wanted to take a nap in there, but it felt inappropriate. :) Hello. They had a SOFA. Gah.

There is a sofa in there for a reason! DO NOT NAP IN LACTATION ROOMS! It makes all the boobie-phobic and lactating mommas mad!

is that a joke? or is there really a lactation room? yikes. breastfeeding still grosses me out. sorry, just had to say that. and then my sister spent last weekend telling me all sorts of awful things about breastfeeding (she's been doing her research) and i'm like, BOTTLES, people, BOTTLES! ignore me. the word "lactation" is disgusting. i can't believe people would put that on a sign. bye bye.

yeah yeah yeah. lactation this, breastfeeding that. we all need our sleep, jackie my dear. if you were napping in there and i hate a baby on each tit, i would probably think, "well i'm glad that sweet little blonde girl is getting some probably MUCH DESERVED zzz's."

"HATE a baby on each tit"?!? talk about your all-time freudian slips!!! i laughed OUT LOUD and read that to my roommates. i should probably check into proof-reading once in a while! : )

LACTATION! LACTATION! LACTATION! The room is really there for moms who need to pump while away from baby. That is why there is a couch. Failure to empty her breast could result in engorgement, infection, and a whole host of problems. If you sleep in there, they have to pump where everyone can see them, and then some dumbass would make some stupid ass comment, much like llane, and chaos ensues.

yikes! sorry, jax, i know your post wasn't intended to "be about breastfeeding" but geeeeeeez. you would think a lactation room with a closed door would make someone who is 'grossed out' by the whole thing to be happy so they didn't have to ACCIDENTLY be horrified in the bathroom by a pumping mom or in the terminal by a BFing-in-public mom. pretty sure any medical professional is going to tell you the benefits of breastmilk by far outweigh formula...

lactation happens at some point whether you bottle or breastfeed. I HATE TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS but many women leak DURING PREGNANCY (a lot do actually and throughout) and there is nothing you can do to stop it. BIG WET SPOTS at inconvenient times. :)

just saying.

clearly, people who have no children have no sense. : ) i think your picture is funny, jax, and i'm sorry you didn't get your sleepsies. hopefully we can one day wake up in a world where there are couches in the bathroom, too... or at least "shitting rooms" in addition to lactation rooms. we all grossed out, right? it's late. please please PLEASE don't anyone be mad at me. PLEASE. xoxo

m-m-m-melissa...I think you're hilarious! And I'm with you...for crying out loud Jax, if you curl up in the corner, you can't possibly take up that much space on the couch...=D I'D share the couch with you whether pumping or breastfeeding or whatever. As long as it didn't like, freak you out!

okay, so question: how many people reading this blog have peed in the men's bathroom for any reason what so ever?

[I'm waiting for you all to raise your hand.]

I get Maria's point. She's right, you know--that room has a purpose. However, 1) I'm pretty sure there's room for more than one person and 2) in a pinch we all have to improvise.

I'm glad you didn't sleep in it, I really am, because mommies do need it, but the reaction you're getting made me laugh because it makes me think of when I went to conservative church camp and they said that even thinking an impure thought could send you to hell. maybe if you'd actually done it...but then again, info for education's sake.

also, lauryl, did you know that mom and baby's bodies actually work together through breastfeeding to give the child a better immune system. have you ever even looked at information concerning it? If you ever plan on having children, I hope you look for the facts and overcome your squeamishness. Your children will appreciate it some day.

This cracks me up so I finally decided to comment..

1. I would have NEVER slept in there... b/c it's WEIRD. It's totally not supposed to be for sleeping. I was just kidding. I even checked to make sure there were no mothers even in the vicinity before I went in to change... mostly b/c there were like 50 of us in that wing stuck in the airport due to the storm. I also found it hilarious that it's called a "lactation" room instead of a "nursing room" or something. I would have laughed if the sign said "facilities" instead of restroom. Whatev. I'm glad they have a separate room for the moms.

You know what else I think is awesome? Parking spots for expectant moms. Just sayin.. they are.

Anyway...didnt mean to spawn such convo with my joke. Breastfeeding, not breastfeeding..Whatever. I'm just glad there was a room there and I was able to hurriedly change without balancing over a toilet with my nice suit.

OMG. That's the first time I've ever used that phrase, but this called for it. Over-reaction city around here.
