Grounding Myself

Alright folks.. we're in the TEENS in terms of days from Christmas. And if you're thinking about ordering something online, then well.. you've got aboooout 10 days MAX to get it here by Christmas, so realistically, we're looking at what....5-8 days for some gifts to be ordered. Holy.sh!t.

Let me tell you about gifts and me.

I like to give them.

A lot.

And random, little, spur of the moment, "I was thinking of you" gifts are well.. kinda something at which I'm awesome. (hear that? it's the sound of my own horn tooting).

And timed gifts...like birthdays, etc.. well.. I'm okay at them b/c I get to hone in on ONE person.

But Christmas...where I have more than one person to buy for...all at once...stresses.me.out.

You'd think the solution would be to plan further in advance? Yeah, I'd think so too. Yet, every year.. here I am... haha.. Arg.

I think I know what I'm getting my mom at this point...and I've picked up a few things for friends along the way I know they'd like...and well..Gracie is a no brainer-bones, toys, t-r-e-a-t-s (we have to spell it around here b/c if she hears it, she goes bananas ;) )

But Eric....

...the person I care about more than lots and lots in this world...

..has.been.kinda.stumping.me.

I refused to ask him what he wants b/c I can come up with it on my own! Hmph! And we set a budget this year b/c we tennnnd to overspend with each other...or just in general...haha... So, I have great ideas, but they're not within my "budget." (mocking voice like a child's saying "buuuuuudget.") hahaha... :)

I have lots of ideas...but I'm the person who likes to get "the" gift.. ya know.. the one that shows you pay attention...that shows you know someone...that shows you planned ahead...that shows you have a vested interest in the relationship! *frazzled, overdramatic raised voice as you're reading that sentence* ;)

So basically yeah, I'm overdramatic about the whole thing.

Anyway, I grounded myself to do some serious intense research tonight (aka no blogger, no facebook, no twitter...Biggest Loser was a different story.. Hello, it was the finale!) and I think I'm about 75% there in the narrowing it down department! YEEHAW! Hopefully by the end of this weekend (5 days, folks), I will have ordered what I needed to! I need to do some investigating first.. *sneaky pose with head down and eyebrows raised*

(We can go ahead and admit now that I'll change my mind 150 times and then have to pay ridiculous fees in shipping, but it is what it is).

I hope you're gift-buying is coming to a close! Who's the hardest person to buy for on your list this year?

I'm not even close to done. Sigh. The hubs and I are focusing on the dude this year but we wanted to get each other a heartfelt stocking stuffer. I swear it's harder than when we overspend. Ah ha ha

I have to say I'm quite proud of myself for being done this early (this NEVER happens!) but since I was home sick for a few days, I ended up finishing all my shopping online..I literally bought one gift in a store...no 2...now just to finish wrapping ahhhh

SHe has been the hardest to buy for this year because I want to get her things she will love, but I also don't want to over do it and have her think that is all Christmas is about *sigh* but girlfriend is totally getting the pink boots :) I hope your list gets shorter soon!

I bought Dave's gift from Amazon on Sunday and it came last night. Granted it was from the Amazon company and not a seller, but they were fast and I only did standard shipping.

I totally stress myself out about finding the "perfect" gift for everyone! Even once I think I've found it, I'm still second guessing myself!!! :)

good luck with the shopping I can send you my spreadsheet that I keep in my planner at all times for gift ideas if you'd like so maybe next year you can be ahead of the game. I hate crowds so waiting til December is NEVER an option.

ugh, christmas shopping. i have no words for how banoodles it makes me feel. and i am the same way when it comes to wanting to get THE gift for someone. my issue is that i seem to always have a good idea of what THE gift is, but no funds to purchase THE gifts for all of THE people i want to. CONUNDRUM. :) good luck, sweet girl!!! xo

Bryan is impossible to shop for basically because he never gets super excited about gifts which makes me feel AWFUL and like I totally missed the mark! My dad too. He doesn't do anything and doesn't ask for anything so I have no idea what to get him. MEN!

I totally agree! Nick is so hard to shop for! I normally just default to an x-box game, but I feel like that is just an easy way out on my end. So I'm still trying to think of that perfect gift. And yes, Biggest Loser last night - so good!!

Bruce keeps saying to me "I want x, y, z" and I keep trying to explain to him that it's not fun to give gifts if the person knows what is coming!!!!!

I stress myself out about finding the perfect gift, get frustrated then end up buying myself something. Hey, the thought counts, right?
You sound like an amazing friend and I am so happy that we are bloggy friends. Sorry I have been bad about commenting lately, exams this week then I am a free woman (besides work and hubs) for 30 days! WOOP!

I completely understand! I've only bought for my dad and I'm waiting for some of friend's gifts to come in the mail. I know what to get my mom, but haven't done it yet and I have no clue what to get the boyfriend-like none at all!

I'm sure you'll figure out the perfect gift for Eric though-it sounds like you have an idea up your sleeve!

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog! It means alot :)

I'm so proud of myself, I was finished shopping BEFORE Thanksgiving this year!!! I have no idea how though. My Dad is always the one to stress me out, he's so difficult to buy for! Keep us posted on what the perfect gift for Eric is! :)

First, I love your ***comments*** and *tone* and *facial expression* so much more entertaining to read!!! ANd of course spelling t-r-e-a-t-s ... LOL
BUT about gifts, this is sooo me too!! I love buying gifts but am a lil stressed this year about Joe. I know he NEEDS a few things.. but they're all boring. I mean, shoes and a brown belt ??? BORING. and he WANTS a remote contorl helicopter but i refuse to buy this for him (did I mention he already HAS one???) so I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! Last year I did a nice picture frame with 9 pics, and also tix to Bob Saget comedy show he wanted to go to.. but this year I cant think of ANYTHING. PLEASE please let me know if you come up with any brilliant ideas:)

I am TEEEERRIBLE at timed gifts! I love the random "Thinking of you" things but Christmas gifts stress me out too. You'll do great. By the way, I have a guess at what your big stressful decision is... :)

The other stressful thinking about gifts for the significant other is everyone else always asks for ideas too. Not only do I have to think of a gift for Adam, but I have to give his parents, my parents, and all the sibs ideas too! This year we bought Wii and are calling it gifts to each other. And I got to give away all my ideas!

I am the same way with gifts, I love to give them and have too many ideas. But...my brother is the hardest to buy for, he always is one step ahead of me. I just spent fifty bucks on his gift only to find out that he asked my g-ma to give him the same thing, oh brother! Literally! Ha! Good luck with your gift giving, I am sure Eric will adore it, whatever it is.
