Things that happened yesterday

1. I couldnt upload my photos b/c I'm fairly certain my mac, flickr, and my thumb drive all hate me. I wanted to share them with Eric before I uploaded them to the blog/facebook. But that just might not happen... haha..Do you flickr? I've never done it, but I paid for the upgrade and am now having issues uploading photos. *grrrr* I have to upload them like 10 at a time...which is hard for me...since I have 200 pics from Denver.

2. I was driving when an adorable golden retriever walked in front of my car in my neighborhood. Well, you know I can't resist that. *sigh* So, I got out and it came to me. I opened the back door and in she jumped. Sheesh. We drove around for awhile, but no one was out looking that I could see... so she came home with me. The rest of the evening was filled with poster making, etc. Good news though...her owner called me! Family and 12 year old Gretel the dog were reunited around 9pm last night! :) I think I like dogs more than a lot of people sometimes. Just sayin. And I also think I'd almost convinced myself to keep her if I never found her owners. This, my friends, is why I cannot ever volunteer for animal shelters. I would have a zoo at home. 100% sure.

3. Oh yeah.. and um.. Eric's house was broken into. Yeah, you read that right. :( They didn't take a ton of stuff (thankfully), but he's got to make some serious repairs today. I took a photo of where they broke in. Bananas! I won't go into details b/c this is the public internet...and talking about a crime where suspects are still missing is weird...but blah. I feel so badly for him. He's dealing with it much better than I would. But, he deals with a lot of things better than I would.. haha.. (He's way more even-keeled than my sometimes-over-emotional self). I'm so over this crime wave that seems to be happening in our city lately. I know crime heats up in summer, but if you're in the area, don't you feel like it's been so much worse this year?! :(

The dog--I would have done the same thing! My mom actually does it all the time. We almost had a 3rd dog once and the family finally called 2 weeks later.
So sorry for Eric. That is horrible to deal with. I hope they catch the aholes that did it!

The break-ins/home invasions this summer are freaking me out! I def feel like there are a lot more this summer and I'm constantly setting our alarm, even when I'm home. So sorry about Eric's place...hope they catch whoever did it.
And there's no way I could work in animal shelter...pretty sure we'd have to buy a farm to care for all of the dogs I'd bring home!

Ugh, I still can't believe that about Eric's house. All this crap freaks me out, and is the reason I stay with my parents when Lee is out of town! So glad you found the dog's owners! Yay :) I tell Lee all the time that I want to get a big van and go around finding stays and lost animals. I also ask if we can buy a ton of land and have one of every kind of dog. I'm only a little serious. :)

Aww, you are so sweet for picking up that dog! Who knows what would have happened to her if you didn't rescue her! :) I would have done the same thing. I love dogs.

So sosrry to hear about Eric's house! That is terrible. I would be scared. Does he have an alarm system? He should look into one if he doesn't. I hope they're able to catch whoever did it!

OMG, I am doing the SAME THING with a dog we just found a couple of days ago! Someone found him running around and locked him in the dog park. After a couple of hours, we realized that he was alone in there with no owner, so we went down and my neighbor took him for the night. She found the owners the next day, but they don't want him. So now, we are trying to get our current dog to relax around him and see if we can adopt him. I really should not be allowed within 100 feet of any animal. They will all come home with me.

And that is terrible about Eric's house. Ugh, I hate people who steal. How about get your OWN stuff, and not think you are entitled to take someone else's??

Our neighbor's house was broken into a month or so ago so we got an alarm. Poor Eric :( It is always nice to have someone who balances you though.
Yay for finding the owners :)

OK...I thought you were about to tell us some tragic news about the death of a beautiful dog. I almost hit a bunny last night...I cant imagine a golden retriever! Yeah for reunions.

That stinks about the break in! I would feel so creeped out to know someone had been in my home! Glad you found the dogs family...the silver lining to your day!

Sorry to hear about Erics house!

Aww I probably would have kept the dog too if the owners didn't claim it! I'm not allowed near animal clinics, the pound or even petco when they do the adoption days!

That's so scary about the break-ins. I hate people who steal!

That's so scary when someone you know is the victim of a crime like that! Here's hoping they found out who did it and maybe get his stuff back? Scary.

you're so sweet for taking that doggy in! I wish I could say I would do the same, but I'm kind of scared of all unfamiliar/stray animals. And gosh that really sucks that they broke into his home! People are just so inconsiderate and stupid. About two months ago they broke into my car twice in one week and stole my radio both times. I was sooo pissed! I seriously wanted to break some thug bones! I'm glad that your man is ok though!

Oh my gosh! That's so scary that someone broke into his home! I'm glad he's ok and wasn't there when it happened.

Eventful day would be an understatement! The story about the dog is adorable, I'm sure the family is incredibly thankful.

So glad you were able to reunite Gretel with her owner...yay for happy endings! : )

And OH MY GOSH, poor Eric! It does seem like crime is worse this summer than in previous years, though I'm puzzled as to why.

Anywho, have a most awesome Thursday, pretty lady!

Awwww....what a great neighbor!!! I love golden retrievers...not sure if I would have found the owner;)

(Just kidding, I would have tried to do the same thing)

What you did with the dog, I would have done the exact same thing! I definitely have heard myself say "sometimes I like dogs a lot better than people" and I'm definitely partial to golden retrievers! Have a great week!

Crime in Tulsa? Really? I always thought that was the safest place in the world. But I've been hearing about a lot of crime in OKC lately, too. I'll stay here in Silver Lake. I always feel safe, even with my crazy crystal meth addict neighbors! Sorry about the break-in. That really sucks!
