So, I finally got around to downloading pics from the weekend. (Cold makes me kinda lazy once I put on sweats at home). I'm happy that we didn't get the kind of snow or ice we COULD have gotten, but today's low was 8 degrees when I was leaving for work.
EIGHT.
DEGREES.
So happy to have a warm home, warm clothes, a warm car....very thankful.
I'm currently addicted to the show "I Shouldn't Be Alive" (on Animal Planet). If there's ever someone stuck in a situation involving bitter cold, I seriously wonder if I could do it. It's almost comical.. I see people faced with lions and stuff in Africa on the show and I think "Oh, I could SO handle that." But the cold? I think "No way jose." haha... The ep tonight featured an climber who fell like 80 feet in a snowy crevasse where the temps get to negative forty...and he had to climb out to survive. Holy moly.
Okay enough of my obsession with a random show and on to the overdue weekend recap!
Last weekend was good!
Friday night, Eric and I went to a surprise party for a friend of his....
We're so covert (hiding before he arrived)
He was shocked! This may or may not have been him re-enacting his reaction for a photo...haha..
The group. Note Eric's mountain man beard! I honestly don't mind it, despite everyone seemingly thinking that I should...haha.. :) That said, I do think it's comical that it's become quite the subject of conversation and a few guys at work definitely have some beard-envy. Men are so weird.
The group went glow bowling after the surprise. :)Saturday night, had dinner with some girl friends and then met up with a group after the TU basketball game for some adult beverages at a local Irish bar/restaurant. Sunday, Eric and I bundled up and went to a yummy (and indulgent) breakfast, then I had to fight the masses at the grocery store. Why were there masses? Oh b/c we were expected to get three inches of snow. Yes, just three inches. People here go BANANAS about that kind of thing.. It's funny, but I guess we really have had a LOT of snow and ice before when we only thought we were getting a few inches, so I guess I can't blame everyone too much for stocking up...but it was just insanity....
Oh and thanks so much for the comments about the moroccan oil! I think I'm going to try some for sure and will report back! I'm trying this new thing where I wait at least 24 hours before buying something I think I want. If I still want it in 24 hours, then it might be worth buying. (the oil has well passed the 24 hr mark so I'm totally gonna try it). If something isn't there in 24 hours, then I didn't need it anyway. It's part of grounding myself from buying things for myself and ties in with that whole "saving money" thing in my NY resolutions. I definitely never go hog wild, but I think there are some things I buy just b/c "it's on sale" or whatever. Anyway, if I wasn't grounded, wanna know what else I'd buy? These. (fleece lined leggings). I want some. But I'm grounded, so I'm being good....for now. I realize I likely want them b/c it's 5 degrees outside...haha.. I'd wear a paper bag as a dress right now if it was lined with warm fleece... :)
Hope you're week is rocking along and you're staying warm and toasty!

aww what a great suprise!! :)
What a fun surprise!
And that show sounds right up our alley. My husband loves shows like that. I'm with you, I HATE being cold. We just watched the movie "Frozen." It makes you never want to go skiing or be out in the cold and snow!
Surprise parties are so fun!
And fleece lined leggings?? I've never heard of those but they might be a good investment during the winter... Especially around here!
Gosh, a surprise party and bowling...its like the best day ever!!
And I'm kind of liking the beard on E as well. He's one of the guys that actually looks good with one...and I can't say that about a lot of people...like Liam for example;)
glow bowling!? ohhhh that sounds fun!! I agree with you and I think Eric pulls off the beard! not many guys can and I normally don't like the beard but it doesn't look bad on him!
I've always wanted to go to a surprise party...or be the one surprised, whatev. I'm all about the man beard, keep rockin it Eric!
that looks so fun! and now I for sure want the fleece leggings too!
looks like you had a fun time and i'll have to check out your post about the oil, i have some of that product and love it!
glow bowling sounds fun!!
24 hr rule is a good idea. Except I just saw a bracelet I wanted on Etsy and bought it after I thought about it for less than 24 seconds. But my uncle put money in my pal pal account for Xmas and the bracelet was only $15 more than he put in so I figure it was a Xmas gift from him....right?!
Fleece lined leggings...I need those up here in SD :)
8 Degrees is pretty cold for OK! We are even at 19 up here today...crazy how we think that is a heat wave!
sounds like a fun party!! :)
the cold weather really stinks!! i have so much i want to get done (running errands) but i hate leaving my house because it's too cold outside!! ;) i can't wait for spring/summer! until then, maybe i'll invest in some fleece legggins! :) stay warm girly!
I'm the same way when it comes to buying stuff. If I think I want it I wait a little longer to see if I actually really do. lol. Stay warm!!! This week here we're only getting up to 18! Ekk!
