London Calling
It's official! I'm going to LONDON...in just over a MONTH! What?!
So here's where I need help... Lauren obviously can't take off work the whole week I'm there, so I'll be exploring on my own a bit, too. Have you been? Any recs of must-see's? Sites to find info?
From St. Paul's Cathedral to the London Eye to Buckingham Palace, I am just so pumped!
With my airline miles, the whole thing came to less than $200! How can you pass up a trip to LONDON when you get to see and stay with a best friend and have miles to cover the flight?!
YOU CAN'T! (<-- That's what I told myself at least).
I know you guys just mostly know blog Jackie... and not like I'm a different person.. but you can't tell from my blogs that I'm just not that spontaneous...typically. For the most part, I plan, I research, I save...but I haven't EVER booked a trip like this a month away! Cray cray up in this blog, people!
And I'm one of those annoying "I don't have regrets because you learn from everything" people, but if I ever DID have one, it would be not going to Europe in college/law school. I wanted to save money, not take out more loans, and work during my breaks from school. I worked at the law firm during all my breaks. Good thing I did that to secure the job that I no longer even DO. Sheez. *shaking head at self*
And Lauren is game to take a weekend excursion somewhere by plane or train! Travel is so cheap over there. Any recommendations for side trips? Paris? Edinburgh?
Ohmygosh I am so excited!!!
Okay... harnessing my chi and coming back to reality for now.
Happy Tuesday!

That sounds AMAZING!! :) I was the same way in college, and I regret it too!
Girlfran! I lived there for 5 years and hubs is English. We've got you covered. You want me to send an email?
You are 100% right to do this. Anything for $200 bucks is a steal and you won't regret this. Carpe Diem in the house! (Eek, don't judge me on that one. It came out of nowhere.)
Sooooo exciting!!!!! And for that price you can't beat it. I've never been to London so I have nothing to suggest but I can't wait to hear about this awesome trip!
Why am I not coming with you??? Also when can I visit Tulsa....the London of Oklahoma? :)
So exciting!! We went to Europe this summer and I am SO glad that we did. I highly recommend Rick Steves books- they are super informative and he has a book just for London. Amazon usually has the books for a good deal. Enjoy your trip planning and your time in Europe!
so awesome I'm super envious! I would say take the train to paris its about a 4 hour ride and it goes UNDER THE CHANEL!! cool
How fun!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!
OMG that is awesome! London is going to be awesome. Can I go in your suitcase?!
SOOOO excited for you!!! I definitely think a jaunt to Paris is in order. And the only thing I can definitively recommend in London is: see lots of theater! I think you can get same day 1/2 price tickets in Leicester Square . . . if they're still doing it.
Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
Jealous! London is on the bucket list. Can't wait to read about it :)
This is going to be such an amazing trip! I need to email or text you!!! I lived there for awhile doing a study abroad and know the city pretty well. I'll have to tell you about some great places! Also Paris is totally do able! You can actually take the euro rail over or even the ferry from dover. Very easy and safe.
Never been to another country other than Mexico lol Have fun! Who's watching Gracie for a whole month?
SO excited to see pictures from your trip! I haven't been to London, but I've been to Paris and Zurich. Great places for quick trips if you can swing it. Paris is possibly my favorite place in the entire world (I've been twice and I pretty much cried when I had to leave the 2nd time). Zurich is just beautiful, super clean, Lake Zurich and the views of the mountains are totally breathtaking. I have some friends who went up to a scotch tasting while in Britain which might be really awesome!
That is awesome! Jealous.
Just got back from our honeymoon in London, yesterday!! Love London I studied there in college and yes it was the best thing I have every done. I would suggest the Tower of London and Churchill War rooms (not as well known but look it up its SUPER COOL!!!) Also the Spitalfields and Portobello Markets are awesome! Make sure to spend some time in some pubs just hanging out having a pint and people watching. you will have a blast. email if you want more info I can definitely help! wattsong@hotmail.com
Yeah London! Good for you! My favorite parts of London (besides the obvious ones) are Camden and Notting Hill =)
For side trips you could go to Cornwall (the region on the southwest tip of England) which is absolutely stunning. Visits to Cambridge, Oxford, Bath in England and Glasgow and Edinburgh are totally recommendable, too. It depends on how much time you have. Of course, Paris is always a good idea! (I've got some Paris tips on my blog, in case you're interested).
Can't wait to see you!
XOXO

I live in Edinburgh and it's considered the "Athens of the North" for how beautiful it is!
OMG. What an amazing opportunity! I cannot wait for you to re-cap it all!
I'm so, so jealous!!! Can't wait to read all about your trip and live vicariously through you!!!
Email me if you really want to know what to do- I lived in London for two full summers. Side trips-- definitely Stratford-Upon-Avon to catch a Royal Shakespeare Company production, see Anne Hathaway's house, have tea and scones, etc., Oxford is also a great side trip, and a bus tour of the Cotswolds shouldn't be missed. You can always take a couple days to go into Paris, which is uber-wonderful (just brush up on your French!). Cardiff, Wales is pretty special, too (CARDIFF CASTLE!!!). In London, make sure to visit each of the different neighborhoods. Like in Knightsbridge, visit Harrod's, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Kensington Palace, have high tea at The Orangerie, etc. The National Gallery is to die for, and you can often walk across Trafalger Square to St. Martin-of-the-Fields and listen in on a chamber orchestra rehearsal. Don't forget to visit the Tate Gallery and the Tate Modern. Oh, and if you're in the theatre district, see a play at one of the older theatres, visit the British Museum.... okay, I'll stop now. Seriously though, email me if you want more deets. ;-) I haven't been back in nearly 7 years (Sammy and I went again for our honeymoon), so I am long-overdue, but London is an old city and things remain the same. OH! Sit in on a session of Parliament if they're in session- it's SO interesting! xoxo
Oh my gosh AMAZING! One of my fave cities ever!!! From the comments above looks like you already have some great suggestions - my request is you do some Kate stalking for me! Cannot WAIT for your pics!!
