I woke up around 7:30 am on Friday morning and thought "ohmygosh my alarm didn't go off!" and then remembered I took the day off. I promptly laid back down with a smile on my face til abooooout 9am. :) Eric's parents, Eric and I hit the road for Memphis around lunchtime...and the weather was PERFECT! (I think mother nature knew I took the day off or something.. haha.. ) ;)
We took a pit stop at Wiederkehr Winery in Arkansas. I had no idea Arkansas has some of the oldest wineries- this one started in 1880! Anyway, we tasted some wines and bought a couple bottles...
Eric peering in wine cellar looking creepy...lol!

I'd never been to Memphis so I was really glad our hotel was just off Beale Street so we could walk down it! Bringing a jacket miiiiight have enabled us to walk a little longer.. haha.. :) Funky fun little strip; kinda reminded me of New Orleans! :)
Beale Street during the day on the way to the game. :) We ate breakfast at King's Palace to the right in the pic :) Note all the peeps in blue.. yeah.. They're Memphis fans, not TU fans. Way to share the same school color...
She ran in and was immediately greeted by two other Cavaliers! I thought it was adorable that in the crowd of pups, the Cavaliers all found each other and ran together like a little puppy gang...haha.. okay...gang was a bad comparison, but they were cute. :)

I went by her favorite puppy bakery, but they were closed on Sunday.. So she got an I owe you for a pupcake or two. :)
Eric's dad's in this pic taking a video of a kid doing back handsprings down the street for a few bucks... He was like 8 years old! Crazy!

We stopped in Little Rock for some Mexican food and margaritas (the passengers, not the driver) and again at a casino (a rule for all roadtrips, me thinks)...and arrived back home Sat night a little after 9. :)

After the game, we licked our wounds :( and hit the road...
Bye Bye, Memphistown.. It was good to meet ya... :)
We stopped in Little Rock for some Mexican food and margaritas (the passengers, not the driver) and again at a casino (a rule for all roadtrips, me thinks)...and arrived back home Sat night a little after 9. :) We also watched 3/4 of Talladega Nights in the car... and I may or may not be trying to find the end on youtube. Don't tell Eric or I'll get a "I told you it was funny..." haha.. Yeah yeah it was funny. I admit it. ;)
A great quick trip, even though we lost... The weather was fabulous, the company was fabulous, and it was just all around a much needed little getaway. :)
On the trip, I realized it was March 5th.. as in not March 1st...as in I missed Gracie's birthday. Crap. I'm a horrible mom. :( She's officially three and I forgot. *sigh* So today, I picked her up at mom's and took her to the doggie park!
And then my pup found the mud. Note her feet. ha! I bring a towel for the car in case stuff like this happens, but we had to bail so she didn't spread her love by jumping on anyone with those paws... Oooooh Gracie dog.... :)
Happy Happy third birthday, little fabulous dog! :)

I didn't know that Arkansas had so many wineries either, but I definitely found out that they have lots of wine to drink! After all those tasters I was more than a little tipsy!
I totally forgot my pups third birthday this year, too! So never fear! I think they'll forgive us!

I was friends with a Wiederkehr in high school. :) I love that winery. Glad you guys had a good time in Memphis--I've always thought it was a neat place!
Let me know when you venture to Dallas again--would love to see you.
What a fun weekend!! That is my favorite, to wake up and know I get to go back to bed. :) Glad you had a great day off. And your pink scarf...adorable! XOXO
lover i like the balls on your pink scarf! xoxo alove
G-Dogg is cute too :)
Glad you had a fun visit in Memphis! I've lived here (Mem) for 2 years now and agree that "famous" BBQ place isn't all that great! If you come back try Germantown Commissary (it's a drive from downtown but better than Rendezvous)!
Very cute blog!
