Uninvited guests....

So, our pantry is located directly off our back door. Our house is old and therefore not insulated that well.. Anyway, some of theeeeese little buggers got inside and decided to take over anything they could find in the cabinet in a bag or box last week. Ugh.
Google led me to a solution: black pepper. I lined the doorway with it and no more ants! YAY!

Right?

Wrong.

B/c the other night, I woke up, hearing something that sounded like someone was trying to get in the house. I FREAKED OUT. I grabbed my cell phone and my keys, prepared to run for the hills. I dialed 9-1-1...and held my finger over the "call" button.

Yes, I was that freaked out.

The noise continued intermittently.

I finally got up, went into the kitchen and decided to sit in the dark, listening.

If I heard someone trying to get in, I was OUT....but I just wasn't sure what the noise was...

...and my alarm/motion detectors were fine...

Sooo.. I sat there... index finger hovering shakily over that little green key on my phone, 9-1-1 already entered in...

and I heard the noise...

INSIDE THE KITCHEN.

Which made me realize it was....

...or rather something more like this...
Yes, friends, mother nature is trying to re-claim our kitchen or something.

And damnit we're CLEAN people. Ugh. So annoying. (But so glad it was just a mouse!!!)

I sighed heavily and went back to bed.

When the ant parade occurred last week, I'd put everything I could inside plastic baggies to keep it safe. For example, my granola bars, while individually wrapped, were in a box...that ants got in to.

*gross*

So I put the wrapped bars in a baggie and threw out the box while cursing at the ants who didn't understand me and thoroughly confusing the dogs

I woke up the next morning after I realized a mouse had been in the house...

and it had EATEN THROUGH THE PLASTIC BAGGIE and gotten all my granola bars.

That's it.

Between ants and mouse, I've lost like $30 in food this week!

This is war. Little sqeaky furball is going down. Trap is set. And now, peeps, we wait....

(admittedly, I dont really WANT to find a dead mouse. I kinda want him to just run out from wherever he came and never return).

So, yeah. There's that rant for ya...

And um... I was shopping today and fell in love.

Like not just in love..

In love. In lust. In wildly passionate I have to have this....

over....this....

IWANTTHISBAG. SO BADLY. I've been looking for a gorgeous camel bag for like ...3 years now. Every winter, I look and look and never find what I want. I want one that's big, but not with tons of crap all over it. I want it to be tasteful. I want it to have those kinds of handles.

I saw it in the store window and was pulled as if by some other force into the store....

...until I saw the price tag and wanted to shed a tear. Things Jax doesn't need to spend hundreds of dollars on=handbag.

So, I will wait. They'll have coupons...er...right.. And there's always ebay. *le sigh* But I wanted to share my newest leather love with all of you. Maybe it'll be my 30th birthday to myself! (Yes, my birthday is almost a year away....and yes, I'm also going to Hawaii as a present to myself in some regards...but just let me justify it.) Maybe it'll be my "I caught the mouse" present? Eh? Fine. Whatever. Hmph.

Hope you had a great weekend! I'll recap tomorrow. XOXO!

Oh mice, they make me cringe!!! I had one in a bathroom off of my bedroom and I have not used that bath for 5 years now, seriously...I refuse. I use it for storage...ha

Really cute bag!
I honestly think that if I would have seen that mouse in my kitchen someone would have had to call 911 just to get me off the floor! I HATE THEM with a passion!

Oh ants are the worst!! If there's one, you know there are hundreds more! I hope you catch mickey and get rid of the ants!

That bag is gorgeous. However, I also can't justify spending that much money on a bag! I found a camel color bag at Aldo last year for $50! Wasn't Coach but it was nice :) haha

Oh so sorry! You remember my rant about the rat in our house last year, right? And we have ongoing ant issues... such is our lot for living in an older home (CHARACTER! our home has CHARACTER! I would never give that up for lack of ants!!!). ;-) Those little ant traps work really well though, we just have to replace them every month or so. Oh and PS, the bag is GORG. I can see why you want it!

Oh man, a mouse in the house is NEVER fun. They are so stinkin hard to get rid of, too! So sorry for the loss of your granola bars : (

And OH MY LORD is that bag adorable or what?! I definitely don't need to spend $400 on a bag, but seriously, life is short and I'm pretty sure it's a sin to pass on a flippin PERFECT Coach bag. Buy it!

I had mice in my previous home, and I swear, I'm OCD about cleaning. Don't worry. It's not you. I've heard mice head in/out because of weather, not because of cleanliness.

Hi, new follower! Ants are the worst! They seem so hard to get rid of :-(

That bag is awesome! I would have a hard time spending that much money, too. Here's hoping for lots of coupons!

We've had ant issues in our laundry room this summer too- Steve used some spray from lowes and it took care of them, yuck.
That bag is gorgeous!! I'm going to be the devil on your shoulder and tell you to get it :)

I hate ANTS!! I hate anything that crawls (that isn't human) for that matter. Hope you get rid of those unwanted critters soon! The bag is darling... I love it. I think you NEED it! It goes with everything and is perfect for fall! :)

Your post cracked me up!!! Sorry about the ants and the mouse! We had a mouse incident a year ago . . . Murphy the mouse scared my husband to death! Lol tough guys right?! So we got all kinds of traps, first the nice ones that trap them so they don't die, then the sticky ones. Nothing worked! But eventually it was gone (or died? :-( ). But it was hilarious to see my hubby's reaction, and thank goodness it was just under the sink and not in my food.

love the purse!

Very cute purse! My advice - find a friend that works at Coach store (they can purchase like 10 bags a year at half off!)
