Approaching Autumn....

What a great weekend! Hope the long weekend treated you well, friends!

I have pics, but I need to upload them. (You're reading that sentence a lot lately). Plus, blogger is kinda a beast lately with uploading pics, so it's not enticing to start the process I suppose... Anyhoo, Eric had a good birthday! (unless he lied to me..haha!) Thanks for all the wishes! Thanks for all the comments on the after Labor Day white wearing, too! :) Honestly, I TRY to follow the rule, but it's mostly b/c it's a rule and not b/c I actually believe in it one way or another. I just don't want to be "that girl" at the party or whatever in a white linen dress. I just have this vision of Blair and Serena (Goss!p Girl reference) whispering about me or something. :) That said, I haven't packed away my white shirts, etc quite yet. I'm also fully convinced there are no rules in paradise/Maui. Therefore, my white pants are well within the boundaries there. ;)

Speaking of, I feel like Maui will NEVER get here. But, I'm halfway okay with that b/c I need to seriously take my spending down a hundred decibels before we actually go on vacay. Goodbye lunch dates and hellllllllo microwave meals.

Are you guys so excited fall is around the corner?! I lurve fall.... just hate that winter inevitably follows. I can't wait for the spicy scents, football games, brisk mornings, colorful leaves, pumpkin spice beverages....ahhh... *happy sigh* I'm definitely going to miss looking out my office window (at my former job) and watching the nearby trees turn. Maybe I can pretend my cube walls turn colors? Eh? Yeah prolly not. (Making mental note to change screen saver at work to something fallish).

But, um.. if we have a winter like we had last year...WHOA. I know what you're thinking if you live north of me, and believe me, I'm not trying to compare. That said, Tulsa is just not equipped to deal with the snowy/icy crap we've been getting in recent years. It just comes down to what the city can handle in terms of equipment/manpower in some regards. I mean... a few years ago, ice took out power for 13 days! (for me, that is. Newer areas of town were only out a few days). Last year, we had so much snow (and not enough plows) that everyone was literally stranded for around 3 days at Christmas. (Mom and I had a lot of wine and sat in our pjs. Not horrible but still).

So, if you're reading this and your city gets snow, I have a question....

Do you have any recs for good snow boots?!

I want some that are decently cute, warm, waterproof, good traction (I'm clumsy). Yup. That's about it in terms of requirements. Last year, I just couldn't justify it even though my old ones sometimes get water in them. I thought "Well, winter won't be THAT bad. I don't need to spend $$ on boots." Um. That was a HUGE mistake. When it got crappy, boots were already all sold out everywhere online and in stores. After a winter of wearing the leaky boots, I'm officially ready to add some new ones to my shopping list in the coming months.

And b/c I can't end this post on something about winter b/c it makes me shiver, exhale happily with me as you look at this pic. Doesn't it make you want to go talk a walk by the water, wearing a fall scarf and long sleeves, while sipping a pumpkin spice or hot cider? :) Have a good Tuesday, peeps! :)

I'm so excited that fall is finally knocking at our doors! Love it! And yeah a good pair of boots are life savers... Take it from someone who lived in Michigan for 9 years ( winters last for EVER there). But I'm never very consistent with the places I buy my boots from bc every year I find a new store. Sorry for not being much help ...
PS: how cool is it that our men have the same b day!

I am very excited for fall! I'm also excited for our crazy schedule to slow down a little and I feel like it always does in the fall!

Oh yeah...I would def keep the white out for Maui.

And you think this girl would know about winter boots coming from New England, but I don't really have any recommendations. I think I use to wear LLBean a lot...but I'm not sure how cute they can get:)

White shirts and cardigans after Labor Day = Ok. White shoes, dresses, pants, etc... = not ok. I'm hoping to not have a crazy winter again this year. *SIGH* Glad Eric had a great birthday :)

Im right there with ya on the winter thing..it was the exact same in Dallas including getting snowed in over Christmas! I need some good snow boot ideas too!

Thanks for the beautiful fall pic....I'm so ready! As for snowboots, I have 2 pair of Columbia boots (one pair zips, one pair laces)and they are both great. However, I would recommend the ones that lace up. The zipper likes to come down on the others. Good luck on your hunt!

Oh that picture is gorgeous! Reminds me of being at my parents lake in the fall....can't wait for the leaves to start changing! If only our Indian Summer falls could last forever, I'm with you on winter. Yuck!

If you are looking for snow boots, I recommend Hunter boots. I know these are typically thought of as rain boots, but they do have a fleece insert (sort of like a fleece sock) that you can put in them for the colder months. These boots are a must have for winter and they can come in handy for any other season as well, as there are always rainy days. :)

I got some great boots last year at Stein Mart of all places! I'll look up the name when I'm home. I wore them all over NYC so that tells you they were comfy and weatherproof (it snowed!) They had a fuzzy top and zipped up. Super comfy!

I'm still so jealous that you're going to Maui, lucky girl!

I wore Uggs pretty much all winter in Chicago (and a few times here in Dallas). They rock and are worth the investment.

This is the first time in my ENTIRE LIFE that I am excited for fall. I adore summer but that's what Texas will do to you.

And there are NO RULES in Maui!! In fact, people might look at you strangely if you're NOT in white! :)

Ok, that gorgeous pictures makes me kinda crazy right now! I'm so excited to start burning my mulled cider candles and for the temperature to drop below 90...

And I don't have really great boot recommendations. We don't really need anything besides cowboy boots in Texas. :)

I don't think the white rule applies in places that it stays 90 degrees until October. It wasn't until I got to college & lived with the GG type that I realized it was a no no.

As for winter, I'm with you on the cold! We just don't have the equipment to deal with it here & it shuts us down!

North Face makes some really cute ones and so does Ugg. The Ugg ones are on the site and they're not in the classic category.

Yeah, what is UP with Blogger and all the pic uploading drama lately?! Glad to know I'm not the only person who's having trouble getting it to work. I'm so super pumped for fall myself! And yeah, winter better not be as bad this year for we Arkansans and Oklahomans...I will not be a happy camper!
