Hey, Southern California!

SoCal,

It looks like you're under a heat warning. We're under a flood warning. For like the bazillionth time in the past month. So, all I have to say is.... go F*#! yourself. Yeah.

Love,
Me (holding an umbrella and pouting)

Ahhh the weekend...

The weekend in list form...cause Im tired..

1. Actually went to Jewel. It was just like Suede with a facelift. I dunno... Good crowd though, I guess. Nothing special.
2. I think I moved to Seattle and someone forgot to tell me. Seriously.
3. Gracie had her first doctor appt today.. She is in great health and got some shots. We walked in and heard dogs whining and barking and she looked up at me as if to say "WTF, mom!?!" lol! She officially weighs 8 whopping lbs. Be intimidated.
4. Went to the Limited and let a fashionable gay man talk me into 2 outfits I will never wear. Awesome. Soooo...I think they shall go back. But, they ARE having a sale and I got lots of stuff that I WILL wear.. so you should go. :)
5. You know those things with scented oil that you put those fragrance sticks in?? Yeah. I think I want one. Just sayin.
6. My birthday is Tuesday. If you're interested, sushi that night.. :))) I get weird about my bday and dont plan much b/c most people have plans to be outta town for the holiday.. But, this year, its mid week!!! :)

Oh...and when the hell did it get to be JULY?!!! Holy crap!!!! I have insurance again!! WOO WOOO!!!!!!!

Maybe it will stop raining someday and then it'll feel like summer... Is anyone else totally EATEN by mosquitos??!!! I killed one on my leg and decided to stop killing them...b/c it got blood on my leg. Yeah, make that "ew sick" face.. b/c it was. F-ing gross.

Jobs can be good. Who knew?!

Reasons I heart my job:
*We had a shrimp boil today...and people had a GREAT time...and I got a tshirt...and I just liked it all around.
**EVERYTHING is collaborative. There's no definitive hierarchy. Love that. (aside from the VPs, etc.. but even so..our VPs served shrimp today with gloves on and bibs) :)))
***Um.. someone in my dept is having a little "welcome Jax" thing..on my BIRTHDAY..at his pool...for our dept...and we're all leaving at lunch for it. Yeah. How friggin SWEET is that??!!

Reason I love Sarah:
* She donated to the "Gracie rocks" campaign by hooking me up at her vet's office. Thanks, chica!

Reasons I love today:
* It's sunny.
**Gracie slept through TWO snooze buttons today. She's really getting to know me. haha..
***My insurance kicks in on MONDAY so I'll just feel better all-around..esp since I no longer will have to pay 60 bucks for my overpriced birth control. WOO WOO!!!

Reason I'm extra happy today
* I dont know.

I love the 90s...

Do you remember this? Just sayin... Found it online on some random search I did in google images. What?! hahahahah! Anyway, I dont even remember what the game was about..but like it says.. it was designed "just for you." (???) I had one. That's about all I remember. I doubt I played it. I did that a lot... Want the newest games and revert to my regular nintendo. lol! Gah.. I'm old.. I'm gonna be closer to friggin 30 on Tuesday.. *sigh* 30. Lets not talk about that...
So, along with my rant from earlier, I walked in today (in the dark, rainy weather) and tried to turn on the foyer light (which I had just turned off at lunch when I came home)...and it burned out. I started laughing at the irony. I got my happy ass on a chair and changed the one by MY apt..but I did it through gritted teeth.
Tomorrow=shrimp boil. While my neighbor got "brownie table," I got signed up to be a "shrimp runner" Um. What? I run shrimp?? If one of those smelly little shelled sea garbage disposals gets on me, I'll make the face Gracie makes when she goes in the rain.. like "Are you f-ing kidding me?" I did, however, get my first company t-shirt.. I love my job!!! Did I mention we get to be on committees and wear t-shirts... (Are you hearing "Shades" being sung, girls?? LOL!) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I'm glad/sad that Jesse's gone on SYTYCD. Melissa? Feelings. I dont know anyone else that watches it AND blogs. Jesse's cool and all..but she thinks she's hot and that bothers me. Plus, I really like Lauren even though she took 10 seconds to walk on stage during her 30 second "dance for survival." (that sounds so dramatic)++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Love love!! Shout out to all my friends studying for the bar right now. I know it's starting to heat up...Aaron's been going strong for awhile, but even the Oklahoma kids are feelin the pressure at this point... One more month, guys. One of my fav quotes of recent is "Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Keep truckin, ya'll!!! (how okie was that after such an eloquent quote) ;)

@#&**!!!!!!

I drafted a blog. Then it went away. You will see my frustration as I RE-DRAFT what I wrote. I am departing my puppy perkyville for this.

Letter to people that live in my apt building:
Neighbors,
We have two lights in our main foyer. TWO. One upstairs, one down. You know this. You also know where the switches are located. How do I know this? B/c I realize you're not incompetent or blind. Then, why, oh why, am I the ONLY one who EVER turns the lights OFF? It can be sunny and bright...like my mood with a cocktail in my hand...and you will STILL leave it on. I turn it off when I'm there, but inevitably, due to your inability to work collaboratively to conserve the bulbs, they burn out. Then, we are all left to use our cell phones to find our keys and trip on the stairs until the landlords come fix it. While I'd like to think we're all of average intelligence, I am beginning to wonder about all of you. It's a switch, not brain surgery. Just do it.

Love,
Your light-loving neighbor.

SECOND:

Letter to the woman from PetSmart last night:

Lady,

Hello again. You might remember me from last night as the person you, your slightly-dirty child, and your flea bag dog were shopping next to. How do I know he was a flea bag?? Well.. b/c you TOLD me as I looked down to see him making friends with MY flea-LESS dog. The whole time, you giggled and said "haha.. I missed the flea bath time.. I guess they're closed" as your poor little dog scratched uncontrollably. Did you really think that was funny, lady? Yeah? Cause if so you might just be a candidate for a Darwin award this year. Thanks for taking your poor, itchy puppy around PetSmart to contaminate all the dogs. That's so thoughtful of you. I also have to thank you for my lunch break today...in which I sat on my floor of my bathroom with tweezers, picking a hanful of fleas off my defenseless puppy...allllll thanks to you.

I pity your puppy, your children..and even the fleas that associate with you.

Sincerely Yours,
Responsible Pet Owner.

** Gracie also had three ticks!! I guess she got them outside. :( I'm headed to get some Frontline after work thanks to recs from Shelbs and Kel. I looked and it's puppy-safe. If you know the name of a good puppy/doggie shampoo, I'd appreciate it, too.

***Oh..and I hate the rain, too. It doesnt make things green. It makes them muddy. That is all.

I pity my future children..

So, I knew that Cavs have a higher chance of contracting MVD.. and it scared me, but I didnt even THINK Gracie would have it.. So... I was sitting here with her tonight and she fell asleep...and started breathing really shallow and fast.. (which she's still doing) I started researching like CRAZY and found the place she came from: http://www.puppiesformissions.com/. I emailed them to make sure her parents were screened for MVD. I'm a nutjob. Yeah. Whatever.

My fav quote from Mary Murphy tonight on SYTYCD: "You just bought a ticket...TO THE HOT TAMALE TRAIN" (she then proceeded to make choo-choo motions) .

Update: Work is having a shrimp boil this week. It's soggy outside. We're now having 900 people eat shrimp..indoors. I'll let you know how that goes. Uh huh. lol!

Gracie met Jack tonight, Shelbs' Chihuahua!!!! So cute together!! I think my dog (1) should be in puppy Mensa b/c shes a friggin genius...and (2) has a new BFF, Jack. :))

Traveler: I am starting to LIKE Will. This might be a bad decision. Comments appreciated.

Rain, rain go AWAY.. DAMNIT.

Good hump day! We got 2 inches of rain...just overnight. *sigh* Having a new puppy in this weather is aggravating. Some things that have my attn today that should also catch yours.

1. Paris Hilton MIGHT be out of jail. I'm not sure. I havent seen it really covered. ;) Actually, I'm quite glad..and almost had a feeling of "awwwww" when she ran towards her mom upon getting out of jail. I actually DID feel a badly for her. I'm glad she did her time and is out.
2. Rosie O' creeps me out. Please see this. Why, Rosie, just why?
3. That wrestler who killed his fam and then himself also creeps me out. The fact that he killed them is creeperiffic enough, but the fact that he did it over the course of a WEEKEND is even more disgustingly weird and disturbing.
4. People that drive through standing water are retarded. I'm sorry folks, but get a clue. I mean.. we've all done it by accident.. but I heard about a guy who was up to his windows in water on a local street. What cracks me up is when people STOP in the water. I mean.. if you HAVE to drive through it, I get SO mad when the car in front of me stops in the middle of it as if to assess the situation. DUMBASS. KEEP MOVING.
5. If you crate trained, then moved them to a bigger area (like the kitchen or something in a doggie gate) how long did you wait before doing that? Just curious.
6. Haven't seen the mail cart today... This concerns me. Maybe it's gone berzerk and it eating people or something. How sci-fi. lol!

When did I become "that" person that babies her DOG?

Got home. She wasnt whining. *Happy sigh* Here she is hiding... ...and after our first trip to the dog park (thanks for directions, Shelbs) :) She made friends.. and growled at a big dog.. friggin hilarious...
HOW can you crate train THIS?! Good LORD! We've been working very hard, though..and she's totally understanding "kennel up" (got that offline) means "in the crate" and I praise her when she goes in there. It's SO impt to me for her to be well-behaved.
In other news (b/c Im sure you're getting tired of random puppy stories for now), we got a new mail cart at work...another electronic one. Okay, so, to give you an idea (i couldnt find a pic).. it's like the size of a small golf cart...but skinnier.. I mean.. it's pretty big.. with enough room for inboxes and outboxes for all the depts. Okay, well, it has a programmed path which I've already said is SOOOO entertaining.. Today.. the new one.. had to be programmed.. (giggle). So, all morning, here's what I heard/saw:

"beep (far off)"
"beep (closer)"
"beep (outside my office)"
footsteps..footsteps... I looked up..and saw about 5 engineers following it and documenting it's path...the marking it with tape.

Later in the afternoon, the process repeated.

The THIRD time it repeated, it went more like this:

"beep...beeep...beeep...BAM!!!!! BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP." HAHAHAHA- It hit the wall.
Engineer 1:(sounding monotone) "it broke a knob."
Engineer 2: (equally as monotone) "Guess we programmed it wrong."
1: "Yeah."
2." Hmm.."

That is all. It was entertaining.

Houston, we have a problem..

Went home at lunch. I could hear her crying from my front door.. not MY door..but the building door. (I have a main door before my door....thats over a flight of stairs away). Shit. I am SOO worried that she did that the entire time I was gone. I dont want my neighbors to freak out. I mean.. its okay during the day, but if I go to the gym.. or really anywhere.... It COULD be b/c its her first day (this is where you all say that this will get better..). I even left the tv on for her.. *sigh* Nervous that I'll never be able to leave... PLEASE tell me she'll get used to this.. PLEASE.

Oh. and it's raining. She didnt like that. She sat outside, shivering, and looked at me like "You expect me to pee in THIS? Um. No." So, after about 20 minutes, I brought her back inside.

*le sigh* It's okay.. I expected it to be hard.. but I didnt sign my neighbors up for all-nighters... Hopefully she'll calm down..

The Morning After...

I think I have the best dog in the world.. b/c she not only slept through the night (in her crate thank you very much), didnt go to the bathroom, but even fell BACK asleep when I hit snooze one time this morning. :)))) She and I are gonna be great friends if she's not a morning person either! YES! Anyway, she's NOT potty trained, but as I let her out of the cage, we went outside and she totally did her stuff.. Awesome! She only whined a little in the crate last night, but it was beside my bed and I left the bathroom light on so she could see me.. and that seemed to help.

At first, I didnt think the name Grace Kelly fit.. and calling her that on a regular basis doesnt really.. but I think Gracie is growing on me. The poor dog needed a new name-FAST-b/c her name WAS Cuddles. Yeah, Cuddles. She's already learning Gracie, so it's staying! :)))

She is seriously the most chill puppy. She'll come out of her shell a bit Im sure, but she's just so loving!! I feel like I left my kid at kindergarten this morning or something as I shut the front door.. *sigh* I'll go home at lunch, though... :)) My family consists of me, Pablo, and Gracie. Just think of the Christmas cards! LOL!!!!

Hi! I'm Princess Gracie!! :)

So, I went to Lindsay's.. and fell in love.. She doesnt look just like a Gracie, though.. but more of a Princess Gracie.. She's such a little lady.. I love her!! She has a little pink pillow that she lays on. Lindsay told me she loved it and as soon as I put it on my floor, she went right to it and laid down! :) She is seriously SO well-behaved! Tonight, we visited Jenny and Jeff (and Henry), Dennis, and PetsMart! My mom came over, too.. So, she's sleeeeeeepy (and so am I). She cracks me up b/c when she's tuckered out, she just kinda lays down wherever she is and looks at me like "You bitch, stop standing there and carry me... I'm cute and I'm over this." LOL! :)

She follows me around outside.. and this is about the farthest I could get her to get away from me so I could take a photo!
She HATES stairs.. and will just lay there.. wherever I placed her... and look at me. She looks like she was attempting to climb them.. Um no. She just lays there... lol! :) So friggin cute...
Lindsay hooked. me. up. with lots of stuff including the cute matching doggie dishes, the trendy travel carrier, puppy pads, etc... Oh..and I put my shoe there cause she looks bigger than she actually is in some photos. She's about 8lbs and will grow to be about 10-12.
Ah... I'm TIRED. Okay.. lets hope she sleeps through the night... She already likes her crate!!! I got her one b/c I wanted her to have POSITIVE associations with it instead of just when I leave.. so it was really impt to me to get her in it tonight to sleep.. while I'm here. I am VERY firm in my having boundaries with the doggie.. (Lets see how long this lasts.. lol!)

Me=anti-commitment

Hello and good morning. I have been waxing and waning between really super doggie pumped...and.. "maybe I really shouldnt right now.." *sigh* I havent even seen the dog. What is my friggin problem??! I mean.. I KNOW once I see it, Ill love it, so that's not really the issue, I suppose..

I mean.. those of you reading this with animals (Jenny, Brooke, Kat... I could go on and on), am I being crazy worrying about things?? I am an only child. I am self sufficient. I am also SELF.ISH. in that I do what I want.. (hahaha.. "I do whata want..") Anyway.. I would love to take on a little puppy, but what if I royally suck ass at it? What if the doggie is really sicky or something? I am a GREAT caregiver and taking care of Pablo (my fishy) actually kinda sorta makes my day.. It makes me feel needed and gives me something to kinda watch out for. But, am I hittin the ball outta the park trying to get a puppy??

I might not be practicing law, but I'm a lawyah... and damnit.. I'm overanalytical as all get out.. and all to oft talk myself OUT of things instead of talk myself IN to them...esp when I'm scared I'll totally screw up. *le sigh* Is it too much to think that when I'm out of town, the puppy can stay with my mom or a friend? I mean.. I'll be out of town a few days a month starting in the fall...

Point is.. Ill meet the pupster...and I have a feeling if I dont at least try it out, Ill totally regret it.. esp since its the ideal puppy I want.. I'm just so glad I have friends I can talk to! Jenny even said I could borrow her crate/kennel thing! That makes me SO excited cause one of my concerns is $$$$ since I didnt plan for the puppy.. and we all know I'm a planner. I think I play devils advocate with myself WAY more than anyone else could and then when other people start to voice concerns, I think "Yeah.. I thought about that, too...maybe I shouldn't..."

Me=lamo. I am going to go stalk Jenny's blog so I can stare at Henry and get all puppyriffic again. :) Jenny or Brooke... also.. if you're reading this, the name of your vet, groomer, etc would be worth a bottle of wine!!! :))))))
