Way Back Wednesday-Brunette Edition

I'm gonna try to actually do this on time!! YAY! WBW on a Wednesday! :)

This is when I darkened my hair.. Random: Do you seem to do something to your hair when you go through something? Happy or sad? Anyway... I darkened my hair and I don't think there was an actual reason this time other than being bored with it. I really liked it, but do you have any idea how tan I was in these photos? You can't tell but dude.... I was the poster child for melanoma b/c the brown hair made me feel pale. (which is why I keep ignoring my current impulses to darken it).

This was New Years 2006! Okay, here's a question.. it was turning 2007.. so is it New Years 2006? or 2007? I get so confused b/c if you're talking about New Year's EVE, then it's 06, right? But then if you're talking about New YEAR...then it's... of forget it. I even went and googled it just now and I'm not the only one confused. Most people seem to agree that this pic would be called New Years 2007. (Yes, ladies and gentleman, I have my law degree. Wow).
This was from a random night sometime a few weeks after New Years :) It was my first trip to Templ, a local bar...ya know.. when it was still cool. In Tulsa, that translates to "before there was a shooting there.."
Tonight, Leslie and I went to dinner! I love that our high school reunion brought us back together!! :) I'm trying to get her to start a blog! :) We sat at Charlestons and chatted for over three hours!!! Cuhrazy!!! :) Love it!

So, is it me or are you obsessed with fall clothes? Okay, it's prolly just me. Fall doesnt start here til.. oh.. October.. but for some reason, I am wanting to wear a chunky necklace, lightweight sweater, dark jeans and tall boots. And maybe a scarf too. Today, I even wore an oversized cardigan over a summery shirt with jeans and heels. I dont want summer to be over AT ALL but I could go for a week of fall just for fun. :) Then, immediately back to the hot weather!

Rephrase.. that's what I wore for my FIRST outfit.. lol! I went home and changed for my TU Alum Homecoming committee meeting into something dressier b/c was worried people'd be business casual. I work in a jeans office. Then, I came home again before dinner with Leslie and threw on jeans. Yes, that's three outfits in a Tuesday. I think I just rolled my eyes at myself, people.

Happy Way Back Wednesday! :)

And last but not least.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!!!!!! If you get a chance, shoot over and give her some bday love!! :)

Philanthropy-the way to be.

(yes, I was trying to be cheesy with the title)

I have no idea when I leave for the UW. I think it's a couple weeks. I've played phone tag with the local peeps and our HR folks are based somewhere else and don't know about our local campaign. *lips pursed and shifted to one side* I've also heard rumors about getting a company car since I'll be driving so much. I called our HR person... Who knows.

I am trrrrrryying to not check out mentally before I actually get to check out physically, but it's hard, people. This morning, I entered 4 sweepstakes on Glamour dot com. So much for coming in at 8am to get things done. Productive. Right. I also hope to take a day off before I leave.. I dont think I'll get time off while I'm being all philanthropic. That sounds crappy.. "Hi, can I have a day off from doing good? I'm kinda tired." hahahaha... So, hopefully I can take a day next week or something.

Check that, UW person just called me back. I start in a couple weeks! Nervous! I guess it kicks off with a breakfast for us then we learn about the bus-nass, tour some local agencies, etc. By week's end, we're assigned to our divisions. Dude. I wonder if they wait to see what we're like before they assign us places? This could be good or bad. I'd like to think I give off a good impression. But, as I drift back to college memories, I recall rushing some really great girls.. but I also recall rushing some HEINOUS B*TCHES b/c people thought they were just "shy." Therefore, the theory was "Jackie is so talkative and stuff. She can make anyone feel comfy and we really like this girl but heard she's shy, so let's put Jackie with her." She wasn't shy. She was usually a complete snob. My personal favorite...

Me: conversation was NOT flowing and we were outside in the yard so I said "We're the only house with a fenced in backyard and little deck/patio...which is nice for privacy, etc..."
Her: "Whatever. I dont like being outside much and the yard is tiny here anyway." *silence*

She was awesome. *nervous*

So what if I think I'm giving off a great impression and they think I'm nice, etc and stick me with some a-holes who think philanthropy is for bozos?!

I.am.over.analyzing.

Thanks for voting in my poll, peeps!! Glad Monday's almost ov-uh!

Weekend Recap! (and a poll)

Welcome to the weekend...er...in blog form that is. Sad it's over b/c time seems to be flyyyying, right?!

Friday, Eric and I headed to my friend, Kristy's bday dinner at Los Cabos! Her party is coming up-the tool academy party- but her actual bday was this weekend so some of us had a low key dinner. :) (Mind you, not much with her is "low key" which is why I love her.. haha).

We kiiinda forgot you can't make reservations so we were stuck outside for awhile getting niiiiice and sweaty. But, we still had fun! And had we been inside, we would have missed Kristy's bday cowbell playing debut! LOL! She's seriously the only one I know who could make this look fashionable.
Ever have one of those "I love this photo of you, but not of me" then you take another and the roles switch so the other person shuts their eyes or looks constipated (I just laughed at myself with that one) or something? haha.. We did that whole game a little bit... This one turned out okay, though... But the whole "Can you take it again?" is semi hilarious. :) Granted, I'm perpetually on the hunt for a fb photo and I don't think Eric cares, so I guess I'm really the obsessive one. *shrug*
Beth and Marla got Kristy a camera! She was so surprised, she cried. :) So cute!!!
While all the girls were ooh-ing and awww-ing over gifts n stuff, some of the boys were talking iphone, sports, or something related thereto. I thought that was funny..
Have I ever told you how awesome Eric is? B/c he may or may not be getting allergy shots for MANY reasons, but one leetle tiny one in the mix is so he can hang out at my place without having a reaction to G dawg. :) That said, he had to go through that whole "Let's play what are you allergic to" game. Note the remaining bump on his arm from shots. (He had FORTY!) And I was attempting to point out the little thing I had frozen off at the derm. We're a tough couple. Fact.
Saturday, Eric and I ate lunch at a Tulsa staple by TU's campus, Ty's Hamburgers! YUMTASTIC! They don't take credit cards so go prepared... but awesomesauce burgers... mmm...

Headed home and played with G. I switched up the sofa cushions and G tries to sleep on the top of the new one in "her place" and keeps falling behind it! LOL! It's the funniest thing ever. So yes.. instead of helping her, I took a few pics first.. hahaha...

I finally picked her up and put her back where she lays, but look at her face!!!! LOL!! This is my dog's "holy sh*t-what just happened" face...
I headed to the mall in an attempt to take advantage of the tax free weekend and that was close to the worst idea I've had in awhile. I needed jeans. That's all. What I didn't consider is jeans are the staple item of high schoolers...during tax free weekend. Jax=moron. I gave up and went home.

Sat night, Eric and I chilled at the Brook for dinner, saw some girls I certainly hope were headed to a costume party *nervous* (think Britney during her pink hair days and add some fishnets...and a cowboy hat), and then headed to see The Ugly Truth.
Was it cheesy? Duh. Did I still like it? Duh. It wasn't bad, but yeah.. haha... I wanna see GI Joe now!!! (yes, I really do).

This morning, Eric wanted to beat the heat and finish the shed. In case you haven't noticed, Eric likes to (1) see projects through til the end and (2) is very detail oriented on things like this. Both of which I admire bc I get frustrated on stuff like this. Especially in 95 degree heat. That said, I still smile when I see him out there, making lists of things he still needs, etc... And I like to go out and "help" (hold things, hand him things, help organize). He lets me feel like I'm helping. :)
He's been hanging cork board, hooks, etc.. and I have NO idea if I would have been able to get everything in that little shed in such an organized fashion. Although...seeing all this stuff on the walls makes me reconsider my "this place is safe in a storm" statement from a previous entry. *nervous* haha! (and yes, he also re-framed the inside...which means all that wood you see is his doing. Impressed? I am.)
And finally, a poll! Today, I went to Promenade for attempt two at jeans. I'll skip all this stuff you don't care about. I ended up with a pair on major sale! I wanted to brave Woodland to hit up Sephora b/c I'm out of perfume, but I didn't feel like the crowds. I've been out of my perfume for awhile and I've been missing it...

Okay okay.. rambling... what I'm getting at is... I was thinking.. there are certain things that make me feel pretty...and girly...and sexy...and empowered...and and and... Anyway, my fav perfume is one of them. I mean...the pretty thing totally depends on my mood-a sassy new dress versus an old, fav pair of jeans for example- but still...I was just wondering in general...what about you... What makes you feel pretty? I just listed some random things I like and I left an "other" button too! I almost took off the "tan" button b/c it felt dumb..but really...being tan-especially from a fun day in the sun-makes me feel like I'm on vacation...and who doesn't feel pretty on vacation?! Anyway, feel free to vote on the options or list and of yours in the "other" category! I'm curious! :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!! I can't believe we're already back at Monday and this weekend is MID AUGUST. Cuhrazy!

I miss The Company B*tch

When I hated my life at the law firm o fun, I somehow found a blog that kinda inspired me to keep up the bloggage. It wasn't about career perfection or life's fabulousness or any of the things I felt like I was striving for in my more-massive-than-my-24-year-old-lawyer-self-needed leather chair. It wasn't about really much of anything other than...well.. b*tching and ranting and humor. Gotta admit. I became hooked. The girl had ZERO filter...and it was funny as hell! I even tried my hand in my own anonymous blog...which failed. (1) I don't like being anonymous and (2) I'm not that funny. Just sayin. That said, a girl friend and I actually started a successful anonymous one about dating (oooh, curious, right?) and it was a hit a couple years ago for awhile! There ended up being about 4 of us from all over the country telling our sorted tales, advice, etc... But, then I went and got myself a job I liked and a healthy relationship (and so did my friend)...so...our interest in it dissipated. But, the other day I got to thinking about that blog that I loved so much back in the day and what she's up to. I guess she still isn't writing.. at least on this blog anymore. (she stopped a couple years ago). That said, it's still entertaining as hell.

So, if you're bored and need a giggle (if we have a similar sense of humor that is), check out The Company B*tch.

Random Ramblings :)

So, I went to the derm on Friday....and....ladies and gents, I am skin cancer fuuuh-reeeeeee! My "mole" wasn't a mole at all, but rather something else that was brought on by the sun, but was NOT dangerous! :) So, he removed it (thank you, freaky dry ice can)! :) If you need a good derm, I am HIGHLY recommending him. Mary gave me his name...and her dad is a big shot in the cancer surgery dept here...and my new derm is his friend/Mary's former derm. So, he knows his shiznit. Just sayin. He's so nice...and real. He called anyone under the age of 35 a "heartthrob" like "Those heartthrobs these days...now they know what they're doing to their bodies with the sun unlike some of us old folks who were out there and didn't know better..." haha.. He continued with "Our bodies are products of generations of sun exposure.. a little sun here or a day at the pool or lake or whatever isn't going to hurt..and you're gonna do it anyway. So just wear sunblock and don't get burned. You look nice with your little tan; so don't worry. But, stay away from the tanning beds."

He went on to tell me my skin is healthy and I'll likely age well (THANK YOU, DOC, even if you're blowing smoke up my a**! haha!) b/c he says I have good elasticity. :) But, he also said women need to be extra careful of: our middle backs, back of hands, chests, and face. Definitely said people aren't careful enough of the backs of their hands. I thought that was interesting.

My fav comment from him was re: facelifts. He said "It's like your fav pair of underwear...the elastic starts to go and you can take out an inch from the waistband and sew em up, but the elastic....now that's never comin' back..." *as he said this, he pulled his cheeks back to mimic in humor* hahahaha!

I mean...is being completely sun-free best? Maybe so. But, I was just glad he understands most people aren't going to completely avoid it. But, I AM staying away from the beds. And honestly, I don't think being AS tan is really as attractive as it once was. A little color is cool, but more and more I think pale is quite pretty... (except for on me. just sayin. hahaha).

Last night, some of us went out for my friend, Kristy's birthday at Los Cabos. It was SO HOT. Wait til you see the (sweaty) photos. I was so tired... I got back to Eric's and in the process of getting ready for bed, broke his toothbrush holder by knocking it in the sink, dropped the razor off his shelf trying to put my contact case up there and then got makeup all over on his towel b/ apparently tired Jackie doesn't know how to wash her face very well. I was in some sleeptastic corona-induced haze. I hadn't had too much to drink at all; but it acted like a sleeping pill! haha!

Just saw this preview during a show (may or may not be rewatching the SYTYCD finale), and I wanna see this! How cute is it?! And I really like Alexis Bl*del.

And then Ashley posted about this awhile ago, but totally wanna see THIS ONE too!!! :) Just the preview made me cry! Here's the true story behind the movie.

Hope you're having a fabutastic weekend! Wear that sunblock, peeps! XOXO!

My Friends Make Cute Babies. Fact.

One of my college friends who has become an even closer friend today despite miles of distance (thanks to blogger) is in town! Lauryl is a talented floral designer in town for an event this weekend from Cali. :) She hasn't gotten to meet the new additions to our friends, so we had dinner and the babies came along!

Brooke is looking super cute with her baby belly! She's not telling us the name til her shower. Already excited. :) My personal fav was her request to just smell my beer.. hahaha.. Nice.
And now some baby shots! First... Maddox!! This little guy will steal your heart in about half a second or less!
Maddox and mommy, Jenny! :)
And now LUCIA!!! :) You can't help but smile when you see this little face, right? Did you? If you didn't, you have no heart. lol!
Lucia and mommy, Sarah!
She was bouncing/kicking on my legs and I was holding her.. til she got distracted. Comical. haha...
Lucia's in that "reach for everything" phase (including earrings).. haha... :)
Lauryl and Lucia! :)

Good times tonight with friends. :) Glad Lauryl came in town so we all got together and platyed tonight! It reminded us somewhat more local girlies we definitely need to get together more!

So get this... I almost blogged it earlier, but now I DEFINITELY have to. I got a missed call at 2am from an ex's number. The message, while it didn't sound like him, was pretty horrible. No need to go into it. But, I was like "He must have been wasted...but even so... weird.. We havent talked in months and we've both moved on.." I was semi pissed b/c I was like "Wow. Grow up." But, I didn't do anything about it except roll my eyes... THEN, my girl friend, Kel, called me and told me of our other friend having a similar thing happening at...2am. She called the phone company and they said there's a site where people can basically call whoever they want using your number as the thing that will show up on the caller id! AND it allows you to disguise your voice. I immediately put two and two together. It wasn't my ex who called at all. Wow. Things I look forward to: calling the company tomorrow b/c it is illegal thanks to an act in Oklahoma. (THANK YOU, OKLAHOMA!) and therefore, I can likely get the info. If I can't tomorrow, I will get it. It might just take a bit. And the best part... in OK, it's a 10,000 fine or a year in prison. hahaha! If that person apologized, I'd prolly be over it. But... I don't think they will... so....*shrug* that's that... But, just an FYI that this is a possibility. Granted, it's something high schoolers and stalkers likely do, but hey... I guess the person who did it to me has a lot of time on their hands at 2am. Just glad I didn't really take much stock in it anyway or else coulda been DRA.MA. haha.. If you make it through law school without hacking someone off-even unintentionally-you're an outlier. My opinion. (the people involved in this all went to law school so it's someone who knows us all).

On a better note, I won something! I never win anything! The Cape House had her 200th post and I won a postcard from Chile (where she's living) for being the second comment! I've really liked reading her blog for a few months now and am excited for my postcard! It will definitely be featured. :)

Okay, I'm sleepy and I don't know if I'm making sense anymore (haha) so have a good Friday!!! Tomorrow morning is my derm appt! Nervous!

WBW (on Thursday) and Eating Dinner with My Dog

So, I kiiiinda didn't get on the Wack Back Wednesday train yesterday b/c I got too crazy busy last night. BUT, I wanted to stick with it for blog solidarity or something.. haha... So, here's my cousin, Karissa, on her wedding day in 2004. :) We'd just had our hair and makeup done. I was her MoH and it was comical b/c since I don't live there (VA), I planned the bachelorette party from Tulsa...and some of the goings on b/c of that were pretty funny (places I "heard" were good, etc.. haha..*nervous*). Anyway, she now has two gorgeous little boys and I wish we got to see each other more. :)
And from yesterday...

Hi, I'm Gracie and I've got a parasite and my tummy's upset!(LOL!)

....so I made her chicken and rice. As in went to the grocery store for my dog. As a side note, Megan made me think about what I was really buying in a recent post... so I bought hormone-free, organic chicken for Gracie and me! (the bowl looks dirty from the steam from the rice.. I promise it's not)
And since I was cooking for her, I went ahead and spiced mine up a little but had the same thing.
So yeah, the dog and I ate together. That's how we roll.

And while I was taking pics of things on my table, I wanted to feature these AWESOME candles! They're some of my favs! They're called Tyler (the website is still being developed) and smell.so.good. Plus, they have cute little lids (as you can see) and make the whole room smell awesome without being overpowering. These were a birthday gift from a friend, but you can get them at lotsa local boutiques-I think she got these at J.Cole. They used to be at On The Corner (31st and Harvard) and Tapestry of Faith (41st and Peoria) but haven't been there in awhile, so not 100%. Anyway, I love them and recommend! :)

I ran by rent by my LL's (they live in a neighborhood close by) and was told they'd swing by to fix something I'd complained about awhile ago. I was glad, but also like "CRAP!!!! Gracie's sick!" So, I got home and cleaned.. and cleaned.. and cleaned.. It wasn't dirty in there, but now you might be able to eat off my baseboards. (not really, but still). Kelli was staying with me anyway since she was going to the Journey concert and had to be in Tulsa for work today (she lives in OKC) so I had some time to kill while she was in the concert...

And I also took my tech-loving boyfriend some ice cream (I'm so nice and I also wanted ice cream. It feels less fatty when you eat it with someone. Just sayin). He's trying to get stuff off his college computer by using a current desktop he has and the old computer's hard drive. I have ZERO idea how to do any of this, but see how determined he is?! ha! :)

Hi, my name is Eric and I have too many computers out at one time. (Please note.. these were with my phone and I'm not sure how thrilled he was with my photoshoot while he was working on the computer so I didn't ask him to pose or smile..haha.. )

Happy Thursday!!! :) Gracie had a LONG walk this am and is in the crate.. so I really really hope she doesn't get sick. But if my LLs are coming over, it's almost a given. I think she's scared of them.. hahahaha.. Or not. But seriously... cross your fingers everything goes well and I don't come home to cuhrazysauce at the apt later.

Mariah Carey's Underpants

(I wonder how many people THAT's gonna direct to the blog from google.. Nervous). haha! Anyway, Mariah Carey's glittered underthings she wore in some video were just ONE of the things I got to see this morning at the brand new Ha*d Rock Hotel in Tulsa! In case you've been sleeping under a rock (if you're in Tulsa), here's the article.. :)

Our event planners went to look at the place and asked me if I wanted to come see it! The sales manager (who was AWESOME btw) met us with hard hats at the door so we could explore even the unfinished parts. He said every.single.sleeping room was booked so that's all he could show us...the slightly unfinished rooms! Crazysauce! :)

Lemme tell you guys... it's really cool. My personal fav was the store with tee shirts saying "H*rd Rock-TULSA!" Love! Anyway, I saw Brit Brit's miniskirt (and would like a photo by the same-takers?) ;) and some other fun memorabilia. The entire new wing is nonsmoking and the rooms are fab. The suites are even more fab-think jacuzzis overlooking the city, huge floor to ceiling "chevron" windows (he called them that.. no idea about windows so whatever), televisions that come up from the footboard area of the bed on remote. Yeah. Cool. The decor is super modern and trendy.

AND they have an AWESOME reception area on the 18th floor with those same floor to ceiling windows.. I have to admit.. I didnt feel like I was in a casino at all in the new wing... My other personal fav is the brand new McGills they're finishing on the 19th floor. I cannot WAIT to eat there!

Anyhoo, I'm not a huge Casino fan-even during my trips to Vegas- but I was impressed about what they've done in Tulsa. I'm always impressed when they do something cool around here. Just sayin. So, my blog is advertising to all you peeps.. haha! Wait another month or so if you want...b/c I think most will be done by then.. but definietly go take a look!

And I got to wear a hardhat. You can't go wrong with business attire and a hardhat. Just sayin.

I'm gonna try to post WBW later!!! Thanks to my morning excursion, got lots to do in the office... :) Happy Wednesday, peeps!

Sick as a.... Gracie dog.

Apparently I now get stool samples from animals. Or at least my animal. lol! That's how I spent my lunch break, folks.. I woke up, got ready, threw on a cute workie dress, and headed to the kitchen... where G had gotten sick. And I don't need to gross you out.. so I'm sorry... but there was some of that stuff my favorite vampire Edward, likes... blood. Icks. *shudder*

So, I had VERY important work meeting and there wasnt enough to royally freak out so I called the vet en route to work, planning to return after the meeting. They were about as helpful as my student loan customer service reps... They said watch her and pull her food. "She might have gotten a sharp part of her bone, etc... Bring in a sample if you can so we can test it..."

I go back ...and I'd like you to picture me in my dress outside with yellow gloves and a baggie following my dog. Nervous! haha! Got back inside and called the vet..who was at lunch. Waited it out.. for awhile and called back, re-explained the sitch and they said (with NO emotion) "Bring her in. We'll figure it out." Um.. okay... So I grabbed G money and baggie o stool sample (ew) and headed to the vet.

I walked in to be greeted by two vet techs at the desk eating lunch (Um, you were closed for an HOUR.. Try eating then, bozos. Whatever). And "greeted" was the wrong word.. more like stared at unemotionally. Finally one said "Yes?" (as bitchy as you can imagine). Here is what transpired:

Me: I called and was told to bring Gracie in... *story story story* ...I just got concerned b/c she was at my mom’s last week… and she’s ingested poison from the garage in the past there and all of it should be gone from the garage, but you never know... so the blood really concerned me.
Her: *blank unemotional stare*
Me: Okay, well.. I also read it could be parasitic and I had some dirty water from a leak in my apt recently so she could have gotten that…
Her: *Blank stare and annoyed look* I’m sure she just ate something
Me: Okay, well… I took the liberty of obtaining a sample for you to test. I’ll be back to get her at around 4.
Her: “I’m sure she just ate something but we’ll look at her*

From there, Gracie braces herself on the floor (per usual..it's funny to watch) and the lady DRAGS her by the neck saying “COME.” That is NOT okay. The lady saw my face (shock and awe) and picked Gracie up. Thanks, b*tch. Ugh.

So, I felt uneasy the entire time driving to work.. and thought about the way they'd acted and got madder.. and madder.. and madder. So then and there I decided to say something to the vet when I return. The vet is great. And the staff usually is, too. I dont care if they were having a bad day.. I dont care what the hell was wrong. This is my DOG; dont act like I'm annoying you. If you hate your job so much, freaking quit, you unemotional morons. Hmph.

The vet called.. and she has a parasite. No worries-prolly from the water leak. Antibiotics should fix her right up. :) YAY! But, the staff.. yeah.. the vet is getting an earful from me so I hope she's ready for my "constructive" comments about the ineptitude of her staff.

And while I'm on doggie stuff, I saw this on shark week last night! It was much better on shark week, but here's a video of it! This guy saved his doggie from a SHARK! Ignore the moronic comments. It really happened (I looked it up) despite ignorant people saying it didn't. It was touching. I may have cried. (Why I cry about animals more than humans is semi odd sometimes*)

And here's another crazysauce sharkweek story!! This dude saved his cousin's life.. and with her on his back, paddled in to shore.. with the shark on their heels the entire time coming back to attack again!

C'mon.. with stories like this; you're wondering why you're not watching Shark Week, aren't you?! ;)

Despite some vet issues, I'm having a pretty good day and I hope you are, too. :) My desk on the other hand....well it looks like it lost a battle with about 20 file folders... *nervous* haha... Lates, peeps!

Melodramatic Monday? :)

In my sleepy haze, I totally forgot to comment that Wicked.was.awesome. I mean.. really awesome. We had A-MAZING seats and could actually see the emotion in their eyes. My personal favs: Popular and Defying Gravity... were absolutely spectacular! I'd seen the show in Chicago with some peeps, but was (1) extremely under the weather and (2) had semi icky seats behind a pillar thing b/c we really hadn't checked the seating chart and it was kinda a whim, so this was muuuuch better! And I'd been so sick, I hadn't even remembered much of the musical from the Chi.. haha.. I found myself thinking "Oh, that happened? Huh!" haha..

Have to admit.. Marcie Dodd (as Elpheba) and Helene York (Glinda) were practically shooting talent from their fingertips every time they were on stage. I mean.. personality, their vocal abilities, their acting... I was truly floored by how amazing their performance and chemistry together was. I could go again and again and likely still get tears in my eyes...

And beforehand, we ate at a Tulsa fav in a new location, Ti Amo's. It's moved to the old Pomodori's place downtown. They'd only been open a week so there are some kinks needing to be worked.. but still.. you cant go wrong with Ti Amo's. Just sayin. :)

Eric's whole fam came to Wicked and I don't think a single one in our group was giving it anything but extreme praise. Glad I got to go!! :)

And... in some other random news, what have I been wanting to do? Buy a house. Right. Ya know.. b/c I'm 28 and have my law degree and I'm over the apt life. Right. Well, last week, got some icky news about my ominous cloud of student loans that hangs over my head. Guess who is now paying even more per month? Ugh. Right. Thank you very much, govt. *eye roll* This has been weighing pretty heavily on me since late last week...and I finally shed some tears over my frustration yesterday (and likely made Eric think I was a nut job.. but whatever). It's not about the loans.. as much as it sounds. It's really not. It's about having my 10 year reunion and being thrilled with where I am, but also wondering when I'll really say "OMG! That law degree was so totally worth it!" In some regards I already say that so I don't mean to sound like a baby...but in times like these when I'm stuck throwing a significant portion of my check the govt's way, I really start to get reflective about where I want to go if that makes sense.... Soo...I'm better today, but am still debating the house thing. Always the planner, that's me. :)

And in somewhat more dramatic/comical news, I have a mole. I reported this a few posts ago when I was asking for tanning advice. I don't really get moles so it bugged me. And since then, I've pretty much done everything but had a science experiment about the damn thing. It's on my arm..aka in a place that allows for prime staring throughout the day. haha.. I wanted to get in to a derm before I start at the UW (United W*y) for that development thing at the tail end of August. I dont know what my schedule will be there and dont know if I can get away as easily. So, I called a derm today that came HIGHLY recommended. Booked solid. Blast. Got a rec from Sarah and called..booked through late September. Hmph. Called another co worker's doc and again... booked solid. I was like "Do you know this could totally be metastasizing right.this.second?!" Okay, so I didn't say that, but I was thinking it.. haha.. So, by the time I got to my other friend's rec, I was fairly certain I'd be in stage 4 melanoma by the time anyone saw me. haha.. (I'm being somewhat sarcastic, but for real.. I'm a hypochondriac with stuff like this.. and it is serious... so I'm not meaning to make light of this stuff). And finally! My friend's doc can see me!!! This Friday!! He's squeezing me in! Hooray!

I'm kinda dreading the "you have sun damage" talk, but I know it's deserved. I saw a teenage girl in a jeep (obviously not heading to work) this morning with flowing dark hair and shorts...and a gorgeous deep tan. I wanted to both lecture her and run her off the road out of jealousy all at the same time.. haha...

Oh how I love being tan, so thanks to some awesome advice from you guys, I am going to try airbrushing and/or Mystic! I think I'll airbrush for the upcoming party! It's not like I really tan tons anyway (ya'll are so gonna think I'm Donatella Vers*ce or something)... just when I am busy and have a wedding to attend, etc.. It's just easy to pop in the tanning bed for 15 min.
And on the note of that party, please see the outstanding getup I found this weekend at the Tulsa Hills shopping center. It's at the store I mentioned before.. I havent bought anything yet but this dress looks like it might be a winner. LOL! (add in the fake tats, fake tan, fake hair.. and you've got the right image). ;)

Whoa It's AUGUST-Weekend Recap!

What a busy weekend.. but also a good weekend. :) Oh and I accidentally got rid of my old background when playing with blogger.. and it's not on that site anymore.. soooo.. I yelled expletives at my computer picked a new one!

High school reunion was this weekend as some of you recall... Wow. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I'd be exactly where I am, I would have said no...haha. I'm definitely cool with where I am and happy; it's just so funny to remember what you thought when you were in high school. I thought I'd be a partner in a law firm by 30 years old. Granted, I suppose I still have 2 years to achieve this now-undesirable goal... but uh.. hello unrealistic Jackie at 18 years old. I thought for sure I'd be married...possibly with kids! *my eyes got wide with fear with that last part.. lol!* (Don't get me wrong. I want mini me's...just not yet.) I thought 30 was old.. and now... I think 30 is just getting started in a lot of ways. It's so weird... Anyway...

Anyway, background for those of you non T-town natives.. my high school has a rep for being a little.. ahem...shall we say you might want to wear a bullet proof vest "nonpreppy." It tends to amuse me though b/c it's really not bad...It's had it's on years.. and it's off years.. like most public schools. My friends and I were fortunate to be there during some of its "on" years. :) But, I do love the look on people's faces when I tell them where I went..Tulsa public represent! (yes, I just said that).

Most of my friends and I were in honors classes anyway... I'm not tooting my own horn here, but rather saying.. how much trouble do you think we created? Yeah. Not a lot.

Friday, Eric and I headed to the reunion shindig at Fox and the Hound. And get this.. a fav teacher who retired the same year we graduated came! Love it! And side note.. my new fav thing is one of my black maxi dresses. It's like wearing a trendy nightgown... Hello awesome!
Eric loved (sarcasm noted) wearing my high school photo on his chest. My fav line:

Eric: "Babe, were you wearing a CHAIN in your senior photo?"
Me: "It was a thick necklace..and it was so 90s..whatever."
Eric: "So the answer is yes."
This, my friends, was our class sign. It oddly resembles say.. I dunno.. some form of other ganglike symbol... But, can you see the "99?" :) Making the sign with me is one of my good high school friends, Mindy. We were on the dance team together. :)
Up until last week, there were about 40 ppl signed up...and people really came through in the end, totaling over 100 on Friday night!
Saturday, some of us went and toured the school. Weeeeeeeeird but totally the same in many ways. It even smelled the same...hahaha.. (no, I have no idea how to further describe that.) One of my friends and our former class Pres, Clint, is just in front of me in the jeans..
One person I was definitely glad to see, Leslie! :) Loved hanging with her and catching up. :) Here she is with her adorable son, Jace!
Then, time for picnic at the clubhouse where the rest of the reunion was... So weird to see some of the former jocks holding their kids hands and jumping off the diving board with them exclaiming "you did it!!!" Cute.
One of my good friends from high school, Lee, and his total look alike son behind him!
Didn't get to go to the Sat night thing b/c we were headed to Wicked. But, I feel like I definitely got to see everyone I wanted to see with the exception of a few, so it was cool! :) I have to admit... I really had a lot more fun than I thought I would. I have some old friends doing some cool things these days... and there was definitely lotsa memories and laughter exchanged. Want my advice: go to your reunion. Good or bad... you likely wont regret it. :) Eric was definitely a trooper.. He's younger so his isn't for a couple years... but he definitely hung with the best of us oldies... :)

I may have fallen asleep on the sofa and managed to get ready for Wicked in aboooout 10 minutes. I also think I may have overdone the bronzer. (I reduced the saturation in these photos). Whatever. And PS.. your tanning tips have convinced me! Gonna give Mystic a shot this week!! I like being tan... but not at the price of my health so.. hey... let's chemically dye it! (you're supposed to laugh).

Brian's bro might act like he hates posing for my photos.. but I think he loves it...
Some girlies Eric works with also at the show. I was very proud of my accessorizing with the belt...til it started restricting my breathing. Whatever. It was cute. (Accessorizing usually consists of earrings for me or a cute handbag. Scarves make me feel like I really accomplished something trendy. Belts on dresses.. yeah.. I was proud of myself, people.)
Lauren was in town for her reunion and she came by Sunday! I'd just showered (and may have had on an inapproprate t-shirt I find funny) so there were no photos taken, but we had fun! Grabbed some Sonic and chatted about goings-on. :)

Went to dinner at Los Cabos tonight with some peeps. Eric has a mysterious bruise. It's kinda his entire elbow... perplexed much? Yeah. Dunno what he's been up to when I'm not around.. Just sayin.. *nervous*
So, I noticed my camera is doing this glare thing in some pics.. In the nametag photo above, it even made Eric's eye gleam. What the crap?! Arg. I went through EVERYTHING and have bday cards, wrappings (I save gift bags), etc.. but apparently tossed the gift receipt. But, my hide and seek game with the receipt didnt matter anyway b/c best buy has an exchange policy on cameras of 14 days. Blast. I played with it and changed some settings. I have no idea what I did or whether it will work, but I guarantee you the next time I take pics, it will take me forever to undo whatever I did. *oops* It seems to work ok on "program" mode, but not "auto." Frustrated. Why can technology and I just get along?! ;)

You didn't care about any of that camera crap, but it's midnight and I've been working on it for an hour or so.. so I needed to vent. Thanks.

Overall, good good weekend! :) I can't believe I had my 10 year reunion... cannot.believe. I also got id'ed this weekend. It was like the bouncer man at White Owl read my mind...lol! Anyway, this is getting long so I'll blab more about other related stuff lates. Happy Monday!

Happy Saturday!

I don't even know how many of you guys are on blogger over the hot summer weekends, but I have some time to kill so I am. I just read something on Miss Honeydew that I felt compelled to also state on my blog. I absolutely love all the new blog friends I've met...from newlyweds to other lawyers to new parents to single chics making it on their own. I'm also a big fan of how this little webpage keeps me in touch with my close friends and their growing families, recent interests, pics, etc. :)

I often battle the editing game on here... and by that I mean.. "should I say that? I don't want to seem negative, showy, overly perky, potty mouthed.... (just name the adjective for whatever mood)." Thanks to Grace for somewhat reinspiring me and reminding me why I blog and I need to stop even thinking about a filter... I've been doing much better at it lately and part of that is damnit... when a girl needs to vent, a girl needs to vent...Then on the other spectrum, I'm cheesy by nature sometimes. I just am. It is what it is. So yeah. Granted, there is SOME editing b/c my picture is all over this.. so going off about anything that could come back to bite me will likely not happen...(lawyer talking here...;) ) But long and short.. I blog for me. It's therapeutic. And I love that.

I got reallllly into blogging when I took the bar exam b/c no one wanted to listen to my whining every day about torts or the dormant commerce clause. And.. frankly.. I thought my law jokes were much funnier than my friends did. So when I blogged them, I imagined people reading and laughing. (I really did..haha) After that, though, my blog has seen a new name (deleted the old one), a new job, a fabulous new boyfriend, pictures of friends...and their new babies, weddings, etc... And more recently, it's allowing me to meet new friends over the net from all over the country and beyond. (that sounds creepy... I dont mean it to.. lol!)

So a quick thanks to people for reading, following, commenting, whatever else. Hope you're having an amazing weekend. I've been at my reunion (updates and pics to follow. Eric has been disappointed by the lack of ghetto-ness of my old friends from my public school) and have Wicked tonight! Excited! :)
