Diggity vs. Dignity

I said "diggity" in an email today and spell check tried to correct it to "dignity." I laughed. I have a strange sense of humor...esp since I said "diggity" in the first place. Eh. Whatever.

So, I got home yesterday and immediately sat down to watch LOST. Oh. My. Gawd. There's so much to say... Mrs. Hawking...yeah...after some online research, the chick with the gun's name is Ellie. What's Mrs. Hawking's name? Eloise. Right. So..um.. are you thinking what I'm thinking? That it was FARADAY'S MOM?! I love that show. Love.it. And "Put the gun down, Widmore?!" When he said that, did your jaw hit the floor?! I'm pretty sure my brain almost exploded at.that.moment. Awesome. AWESOME.

So, today, I have a rather large picture of a deer on my wall in my office. Why? Oh...b/c I've never seen a live one face to face and my coworkers are astonished at this.. haha.. I love my coworkers.. I smiled. I also had some awesome stationery with my name on it from someone I worked with for a meeting! I mean.. way to come back to work after a long week of travels...funny decor and awesome gifts! Not a bad return. :)

Tonight-Dennis' bday!!! Maybe a movie after. :) And tomorrow is a certain Sarah's BABY SHOWER! I went to Babies R Us yesterday....wanted my gift to have a "theme"...ya know.. like "traveling" or "winter" or "bathtime." Well, lemme tell ya, I ended up re-starting my theme a zillion times and ended up with a hodge podge of stuff. It was like going to Target for "one thing" and not getting the basket. By the end, you're balancing all the items in your arms looking ridiculous. Whatev. :)

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend if I'm not seeing you tomorrow! :)

Kansas Toll Roads

...freak me out a little.

So...you get a ticket at one booth...then when you exit, give second booth dude or dudette your ticket and pay them. So, you're stopping twice.

The whole thing is just odd.

And...guess who might get to testify at the House about a bill?! yeah-yuh! :)

Today: good overall. Met key players in the arena I'll be working for awhile. Sun was shining. A heat wave came through (like 25 degrees..haha). Was exhausted by dinner, but did some glad handing and made it. But, missed Lost. Hells bells.

Gotta admit. Despite the weather, etc, it felt damn good to get dressed up in a suit and be a part of the legal jazz...TEMPORARILY that is.... Hope the streets are nice and clear when I get in!!!

Identity Crisis?

Okay, so...before I start writing, please know this is not aimed at you. The people Im referring to dont read my blog...of that I'm confident. And I'm not just referring to the present, but more just a general rant anyway...

So, you know what totally bugs? When "me" takes on a "we" and loses the "my" and the "I" in life. What do I mean? Oh...I just will NEVER understand how or WHY someone would want to lose their identity just b/c they're dating someone. It's such an odd concept to me.

"Can you hang out Friday?"
Response "Well, we were going to ...."

Alright. That's cute. But for real. It feels so fair weather. And if you cant be without your SO (significant other) long enough to have a meal, there's something wrong with you. I'm sorry, but there is. You bring different things to conversations and make relationships more exciting when you have your OWN lives, too....as in "ME, MY, MINE."

Granted, I know I have a different opinion than a lot b/c I've had long distance things before...so I'm used to being "party of one!" haha.. and I'm an only child... But... really, when I like someone....or love someone....of COURSE I want to be around them....frequently. The thought of locking myself away for a weekend with someone I like seems incredibly appealing oftentimes... I also feel like it's important...integral actually... to include them in my day and the occurences of the same...even if in little texts or a call...As long as I feel "wanted/included," I'm pretty happy...haha...But, if I was around someone EVERY.SINGLE.FREE.MOMENT.24/7, I'd lose my shit. It's not like they're a child taking a first step. You can miss an hour or two of each other's lives. Please also know I'm reffering WAY less to marriage. I mean..hello...you live together. Duh.

I was just texting a friend tonight and something she said triggered my diatribe. Sorry. haha...

Things I learned today

1. The sunroof switch looks like the dome light in my rental car. (think snow. highway. roof opening. me cursing)
2. People in Kansas drive really fast in bad weather in little cars. I think it's b/c Kansas is kinda dull and people have to make things exciting by risking death on the roads? Eh?
3. The dinners I CAME HERE FOR apparently get cancelled when legislators dont come thanks to bad weather. (seriously-been meeting with pac groups and coalitions and attending session, so it's not all a wash...but the dinners...yeah. whatever.a little aggravating.)
4. The rental car ice scraper is a piece of shit.
5. I need some dressy flat shoes for walking in ice while wearing suits b/c heels just made me look like I was a one woman show.
6. Coastal bars often have dollar bills on walls, ceilings, etc. This started b/c fishermen used to tack a dollar bill to wall on the way out b/c if they didnt catch anything, they could still come back and buy a beer. (Went to a beer with a coastal theme with dollar bills everywhere. We asked.)
7. The newspeople, ads for law firms, etc....all seem ridiculous in other cities...but seem perfectly normal in your home city. Like friends almost. Odd.
8. As much as I really dont have a serious opinion about breastfeeding that I'd be willing to defend in a fight (and am not trying to start a debate or anything), I feel for my co worker who has a baby in the NICU and is attending these meetings with me (to train me). She has to pump...and today she had to do it in a COAT closet in the hotel to get away and find somewhere with a plug. When we were at a restaurant, she had to do it in the bathroom...the ONLY bathroom...while she hacked off a girl waiting in line. Like she doesnt have enough stress with a baby in the NICU. Gawd. I just felt for her. We need more private areas for things like that. Just saying. It's the principle.
9. My computer has to "install a security certificate" so I have 3 min before it shuts down. YIKES. Hurrying....
10. I hate messy hotel rooms. I often make my bed and clean my own. This isnt something I learned....something I kinda already knew...haha... Whatever. I'm feeling the pressure of the clock.. Agh.. 2.5 min.....AGH...

Whatever, clock wins. I hope the weather in Tulsa or wherever you are is getting better and you're all safe!! It's brrrrr cold here, but I dont think it's anything dangerous....hopefully. Try to blog more after security install!

Muah HAHAHAHA! (that's me..laughing in the face of danger)

(you love how overdramatic I can be. admit it.)

Today, I....

* got to work
* asked opinions about cancelling my trip to KC (supposed to drive at 7am Tuesday morning)
* most said cancel....
* except one of the "external" supervisors (in other words, MY other supervisor while I'm filling in for maternity leave girl). His advice (at 11am), "If you can get a flight out today, I'd just go today..."
* Cancelled my rental car from Tulsa. Called business travel. Within minutes, I was on a flight for this evening, had a rental car at the airport, had a hotel....and had lengthened my trip by 2 days. Poo. Yeah, I said poo.
* Started moving methodically through my checklist: (1) finish VP's speech for tomorrow (2) finish VPs powerpt for tomorrow (3) give her final copy of both hoping for no revisions (there werent any.) :)
* Arranged for Dennis to watch Gracie (THANK YOU!)
* Wrapped up tasks, headed home to pack at approximately 2:30. Lemme just say. Ice-0, Edge-1- Yeah-yuh!!!!
* Handed G dog and her booty-biotics (she's still taking them) to Dennis
* One bundled Jax and one stuffed suitcase later, I gripped the handrail (no more broken back this year for me) and made it to the Edge pushing time...haha..
* A delayed flight, an hour drive in a slightly odd little rental car, an accidental assignment to a handicapped hotel room (changed now...but it was comedy)...oh....and a chipotle burrito...HERE I AM (rock you like a hurricane)

Yeah, you didnt need all those details, but I gave them anyway... How crazysauce, right?!

PS....have you seen the youtube video of the female reporter commenting on Barack and Michelle's loving relationship? Go find it. ("Barack and Michelle do WHAT together") Not linking it while on my work computer. It.is.comedy...but it's vulgar...haha.. that's your warning.

And did you know hotels keep chargers for phones that people abandon?! Yeah.. I mentioned I wasnt gettin good wireless and I needed it b/c I forgot my palm's charger, the (awesome college stoner type) guy at the desk said "We've got a boxa chargers people left if you wanna go through 'em." DUDE. I FOUND ONE! How awesomesauce is that?!! So there's your FYI for the day!!

Today- a slight charlie foxtrot ("cf"), but I'm here. I'm safe. I'm fed. I'm charging (phone. duh)). I'm happy. :)

Stay safe and warm, people!!! :)

The most diabolical game IN.THE.WORLD.

Bahahahahahaha...(keep reading)

Okay, who knew it was going to SLEET on Friday night? Whoa. I used to feel like I was in a toy car in the Pontiac, but the Edge is HEAVY. I read it was great on ice. I don't plan to test it more than I have to (I hate driving on ice) but was nice to feel safer. :) Still have moments of "I wish I got better gas mileage" but I'm hoping they'll subside...or rather gas wont go up to 4 bucks again....

Friday was fun. Sara and I hung at Oscars for quesadillas (highly recommend) then headed to White Owl. Apparently, matching sweaters with Brandy (oops) means we should take a pic covering our faces with them? I dunno. But it turned out funny. :) As you can tell, I went more blonde again! I think my stylist thinks I'm crazy...darker...lighter...shorter...longer...haha..

Saturday, FINALLY cleaned the apt. I dont know how my dog has any hair left on her body after all I vacuumed. Anyway, Eric and I decided to have game night, complete with some leftover tailgate coronas (I love corona), a board game and pizza. Apparently 2 player games are hard to find (recommendations for games and places to purchase please), so we opted to try Backgammon. Having never played, we started in with the instructions, settling in with our beer and pizza.

Um..yeah... apparently it takes more than an MBA and a JD to figure out the (insert announcer's booming voice)"oldest game in the world." Not easily defeated, we went to youtube for instructions...where we met this guy. He lost us around video number 3, but we had fun laughing at his..ahem..interesting descriptions of the most "diabolical" game in the world. Yeah. Backgammon. Diabolical.Who knew? *shrug* (watch the video. picture us totally enthralled waiting for enlightenment about backgammon.Hilarity will ensue.)

Annnnnnnnnnnnd...Sarah, Kari and I are going to seee...NKOTB!!!! I remember my babysitter went to their concert and passed out b/c she was so excited. Yeah. Wow.

In other news, Friday's presentation went well! I also helped my VP come up with an AWESOME message for our next big meeting. And, my boss and I came up with a way for me to pass off a couple projects so I can finally get some air while I'm covering for the other chick. Whew. :) This week, I travel to Kansas for some important legislative stuff...nervous. Also nervous about the road conditions. (Say a prayer I dont get stuck in Kansas. Thank you).

Time to pry myself away from Tabitha's Salon Takeover and go run errands...Hope you had a great weekend!!!

Post Holiday Haters. Boo.

So, today, I developed a theory. You see.. most every January/Feb is kinda blah. I mean.. I dont like those two months very much at all usually-esp February. But, so far.. I have a new car, I'm having a pretty good year and yeah.. well.. I'm chill. *shrug*

That said, this week alone, I've had a manager at work get snippy at me (not my boss, but still). I had that chick be a b*tch to me for being in the tanning bed b/c she cant tell time or write it down correctly. And today, I walked out to my (new) car :) and there was a note in my door.... I had parked in the side lot by my building (aka where there are always about 10 out of 12 empty places on a typical day. Anyway, the note said "this is a private parking lot. remove your car or I'll have it towed." Um. Really? Was that necessary? So, I scribbled on the back "If you'd asked nicely, I would have obliged. Enjoy your day and your attitude issue! :)" haha... I felt like writing looooots of other things, but no need. Fairly certain my NICE comment did the trick anyway.

So, I think people have a case of the post holidays ass hole in them. Yup. And they're not gonna change my mood. Even if I feel like blowing up, I plan to be annoyingly pleasant. I'll let you know how it works...

Dude. Grey's was awesome tonight! I mean.. it was sad. Gawd. I mean.. is she dying?! I officially think Private Practice and Greys should not be one after the other. Esp when people are dying like that. It was emotional overload. Maybe that's why people are cranky and leaving notes in people's car doors? Eh? Just a thought.

Presentation at 8am. Too.early.for.Jax. But...I have a hair appt tomorrow!!!! I love having my hair did. Yup. Love it.

I need a vacation. Welcoming the weekend.... :) Wish me luck on the presentation..and getting there at 7:45 am...haha

"If my day's starting with anal issues, no telling how it'll end"

- my text to Michele this am in response to hers about not wanting to start stuff today...

Obviously, I was referring to Gracie. She's fine now. Apparently, my dog is predispositioned to infections in that region. Awesome. Poor thing. :( She was baffled to be in the new car AND at the vet this morning. Not a happy dawg. She's medicated now and doing fine. I told her "See, this is what happens when you eat poison instead of fiber.. See.." She just tilted her head. (Shes a-ok with the poison thing now btw).

LOST INFO FROM THE PREMIERE. WARNING.

A letter to Cuse and Lindelof,

I think I want to make babies with you.. or one of you. Or both. Whatever. Whoever is responsible for the show tonight, yeah. B/c it was AMAZING. I mean.. I didnt know who I was rooting for! Ben? Sayid? I mean we all know I want Sayid to be my personal bodyguard, but I think he might be seriously confused and/or disturbed. But, do we EVER know if Ben's good? No. Never. Love that. And "Bentham" isnt dead?! SHUT.YOUR.MOUTH. And soldiers? Where did THEY come from? I love them. They're dead. I dont care. I love them. And the extras? Good call on killing them off with fire darts. *affirmative nod* That kicked ass! I dont think I trust Sun right now. Also, I cant tell what's a flash fwd right away versus a back.. agh.. love that! Thanks for removing Claire..at least for awhile. She's annoying. Anna Lucia storyline=genius. You're brilliant. *insert praising motion with hands*  Finally, you totally added JOKES to the show.. that were FUNNY (for us real fans, that is). Ahh.. kudos. applause. You rock. Thank you for not dumbing down the season premiere in hopes to lock in more viewers. You have your viewers and we're loyal bitches. XOXO. Keep it up, you sexy Lost beasts. I'm confused as ever and absolutely loving it. Thank you.

Jax.
Most of all I am SO looking forward to the Lost Diary tomorrow (READ IT. LOVE IT. The guy is hilarious shit).

OTHER STUFF AGAIN

Alright.. Those Chemistry.com commercials are annoying. "I vow to never wear a flannel nightgown."...."How about you vow to never wear a nightgown?" Sick. Dude. What?! No wonder match.com or whatever rejected you. Take your flannel-loving-ass and get off my tv. And please take your creepy boyfriend with you wanting you to be naked. Thanks. I mean.. who does that.. It's like "Mom! I'm in a commercial.. I'm telling this girl I met online to be naked for me." Sick.

FINALLY. IN ALL CAPS: DO YOU WANT TO GO TO NKOTB with me at BoK center? Tix on sale Saturday. Likely presale on Friday...maybe. So, lemme know!  :)

Always end on a pro....

Involved. All Around. Overly social....um...um...pro...need a pro...Fashionable? OMG.. She did NOT just say "sisterly." OMG.

I dont need to explain that. Some of you will get it. :)

I'll end on a pro. Promise.

Today,
1. I LOVED driving my car to work. LOVED. Despite some buyers remorse. Did I tell you I was one of TWO cars the dealership sold yesterday...all day? This market is nutso.

2. It's no secret I've been slammed at work. I'm covering for someone on maternity leave...as in covering her WHOLE STATE...as well as my two states...and the vice presidents. Someone got pissed about me not getting to something..or rather calling them about it when they wanted me to. This is a long story and it really wasn't a huge thing, but let's just say it was really.frustrating. when I'm busting my arse and going in 100 different directions. It is what it is, but it totally bummed me.

3. I got props from one of my VPs... felt better.

4. Went to the gym to tan (it makes me feel better sometimes. whatever) and some lovely young lady (whatever) accused me of jumping in front of her in line.. by banging on the door while I'm tanning and saying something rude. WHAT?! Dude. It's a tanning bed. And I didnt cut you.. and it's 10 minutes. Learn to tell time b/c you obviously messed up. Get a life.

4. YAY drove my car to show Eric and hung out for a bit! :) Felt tons better!!!

5. Got home and realized G money's sacs...ya know...from the summer incident(sick)....needs to be fixed again. Dude. Seriously. WTH?! I think they're infected again...and I had it done like a month ago. Grr. Two trips to the vet in one week=BOO. I know this is TMI, but argh!

6. Pro....pro...um....Tomorrow is another day, Gracie's booty will be fixed..haha, I have an awesome new car I'm kinda really loving, saving the Bachelor for Tuesday night is amaaazing...and....LOST IS ON TOMORROW! LOST.IS.ON.

...and did I mention sporty? cosmopolitan? Right.

"That's an outstanding idea. Let me get back to you."

- my phrase of the day.

Anyway, check out this awesome pic of the new stadium! GO TU!

I've had a long day. Filled with some frustration. But, its ending well and that's all that matters! And luckily.. frustration had NOTHING to do with the new carrrrrrrrrrr I'm getting ready to drive home!! :) YEEEAAAYY!! :)

Monday, January 19, 2009

See this?

Yeah, THIS IS MY NEW CAR!!!!!!

I went after work...alone...determined to drive it and talk price b/c I am/was so tired of shopping, haggling, dealing, getting upset, etc. I likely make it such a bigger deal than it needs to be. But, I got a great price on a great car and I'm happy. That's all that matters. AND I did it by myself (If you take away the numerous *slight* temper issues, frustration, and a few tears with those who've helped me (Eric). Oh and I had assistance via cell phone. Duh). And this is my first car since 2003! haha!

I may have buyers remorse, so I'm just gonna go ahead and list all the things wrong with my other car....Well wait...not yet... but I will tomorrow.. Writing them out will make me feel better after I go over to the credit union for paperwork...haha..

Anyway, yay Ford Edge Limited!!

Again, I may have buyers remorse...so....only positive comments allowed. If you prefer hummers, hondas, horseback....save it for a little bit before you tell me. Gracias. xxoo.

AND OMG.. How good was GG tonight?! The Chuck story made me happy inside. HAPPY. INSIDE. Blair is gonna kick.some.ass. "I need to wait for my moment and I'm going black ops... Off the radar.. No accountability"-Blair. AWESOME. Bitchy Blair is my fav! Havent watched the Bachelor yet b/c it took me 4.5 hours to decide on and buy said car. And... I'm exhausted. Spending large sums of money makes me feel like I've run a marathon.. ya know.. if I did things like that.... haha.. ;)

And finally.. HAPPY INAUGURATION DAY!!!

Hilarity Ensues....

I dont like posting videos b/c they take up a ton of room. But, dude... GO WATCH THIS. BAH HAHAHAHAHAHA!
