Friday's Fabulous Blog Award :)

Yeah yeah...blogging twice in one night. So my apartment didn't get clean. *shrugs* :) Plus, I've been adding to this list as a draft for a couple days and know tomorrow is busy busy busy at work, so wanted to post now. :)

Thank you *L* at Dreams Take Flight for the Your Blog is Fabulous award!!! When I started this, I definitely didn't think anyone would find it fabulous. Random, ranting, boring maybe.. haha.. but not fabulous, so I'm definitely flattered, excited, and super appreciative of the fun award from a fellow blogger I also find pretty darn fabulous! Thanks, *L*! :)

1. I am in love with this watch from M!chael Kors. I need want it. I shouldn't spend the money on it. *grrr* buuuut did I tell you Eric and I are going to Dallas in a few weeks?! Do you know what's on the way to Dallas, my friends? A.Michael.Kors.outlet. OOooohyes. :)

2. I've blogged before about my obsession with JCrew this season. Every time I go in there, I look at this sweater. And I want it. In grey or black. But, alas, it's like 95 bucks.. for this sweater. And I think that's stupid. B/c JCrew is overpriced. But, when it goes on sale, you'll be hearing that "good swipe" noise the machine makes to let me know my credit card just made me the the proud owner. Oh yes. 3. Marla got me hooked on these. I LOVE sour stuff....mmmmm... And these little guys are amazing little gems of sour magic that ALSO freshen breath! (I may or may not eat them like candy. Whatever. Dont judge me.)
4. Tyler Candles.. mmm.... High Maintenance, Diva and Girls Night Out are my favs!! :)
5. Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks! It's a cider. It's amazing. It's become part of a Sunday ritual of sorts! :) I don't even want to know the nutritional info.

I'm ready for the weekend. In case you haven't noticed, Eric's studying for the CPA exam started this week. I say you might have noticed b/c I've become even wordier than usual. if that's possible..haha! Have a great weekend!

Show Us Your City!!

Number one: THANK YOU for all your well wishes yesterday b/c the doc went well!! She said she didn't see anything alarming, but is sending stuff off for biopsy. I'll know more Monday and then we'll talk about getting rid of the spots that don't belong. :)

Number two: I wasn't sure how I'd feel after the doc, but felt great enough to go to the TU v. Boise game last night! Even though we lost, we put up a good fight with a top team. The weather wasn't ideal (rain and cold), but we had a blast anyway.. and I'm not just saying that. We tailgated, stuffed our faces with awesome food, Eric's mom made a sign for the game (fab), and we got to cheer on our team in a sold out stadium (despite the rain!). :)

Number three: I met some friends for lunch since a meeting was canceled. :)

Number four: I saw that I have 100 followers! Whoa. I seriously may have said "whoa!" out loud when I saw it...haha! Thank you so much! Some of ya'll I know personally/locally while others, I'm 100% confident we'd have tonsa laughs over dinner if we lived in the same place... which gets me to where I'm going next! I was thinking.. I LOVE reading about your lives, your families, your friends, your opinions, your loves... And I find myself totally intrigued when people post things about their locations-landmarks, festivals, weather, whatever! It just really makes me realize how spread out yet connected to each other everyone is...

So.... I'm gonna try something...I'm going to either find a pic-or a few- that represents my city...and you guys are invited to do the same! Rules-you don't have to be in the photo, but you can be for sure! Be sure to also post at least three reasons you like calling your city 'home'!

I'm calling it Show Us Your City! and I even figured out how to make a button for it! (nerdy raising the roof proud-of-myself motion from my sofa). Feel free to post whenever, but I'll have a thing on my blog for you to link your post to say...next Thursday? That gives everyone a week to think about it and dig up some pics! Plus, I know not everyone is a pseudo daily blogger like myself (I'm addicted. I can't help it. *bows head in shame*) I'll be sure to post a reminder next week! (This is my subtle way of saying I really hope someone does it or else I'll feel really dumb..haha).

I need to catch up on a blog award (hooray!) and post pics from the TU game last night, but my closet looks like it exploded in my apartment, soooo.. I'm gonna go do something about that after Grey's..haha.. (maybe). Hope everyone had a great Thursday and is as ready for the weekend as I am!

This week's topic: I wish I had one particular talent...and it would be...

I wish I had an eye for all things decorative. What I mean is... I just admire the artistic eye for stuff like that in people-interior designers, etc. I really have to focus my little brain so hard on each and every piece I want to buy and half the time think "aw crap.. not big enough.. " or "hell, I shouldn't have gone so matchy matchy.." I DO look forward to a house though b/c I suppose there's only so much one can do with a little apt anyway. ;) Admittedly, I feel like I'm getting way better! (but that doesnt mean I can afford the stuff I want all the time.. hah!) And along these lines, I totally wish I could walk into a vintage store and see a desk or something and see it's potential. I stand there, staring at some poor little once loved item of furniture, tilt my head to the side and think "maybe if I paint it?? maybe? Er.. yeah..?" haha..

Okay, and now for a Way Back Wednesday post!! This is combined with a birthday post b/c Wed is my cousin's birthday!!! My cousin, Karissa, is beside me in the below pic on my college graduation day! My mom, me, Karissa, and my uncle (mom's bro), Brad!
This was 2003. I can't believe it was that long ago.. sheesh. But, anyway, as many of you know, my family is small.. We rock (just sayin) but we're small. :) My father was kinda sicky when I was little and he and my mom were only able to have me-no bros and sistas for Jax! And my uncle and aunt only had one child that also happened to be a daughter...9 mos older than me! So, even though she lives in VA, we took family vacays together as kids and were often more like sisters across states.. haha.. :) She is now happily married with two little boys of her own. :)

And can't fail to mention that this pic is in a frame in my apt.. a truly awesome day. My mom was so proud of me, it was adorable. I know I say I don't give her enough credit.. and I don't. College graduation-good day. Good day indeed. (You can't see the felt owl cutout on my cap.. haha.. All the senior Chi O's add them to the tops of the grad caps every year...).

I can't believe it's already Wednesday! I have my doc appt today for what I blogged about last month. Again, I have to reiterate. If you don't get your yearly, you should. And I'm so glad I did this year. Here's hoping everything turns out okay! Your comments definitely made me feel better.. along with some other friends who've had the same thing. :)

Scarf Swap! Thank you, Stephanie!

Things I love: getting fun mail! Things I love even more: getting fun mail from my scarf swap partner, Stephanie! As I blogged about, I participated in the Scarf Swap Katie did over at Loves of Life. I anxiously awaited my partner matching.. and once we were matched, Stephanie and I emailed and started reading each others blogs. :) She's a preschool special education teacher in Illinois and is getting married in 2010. I highly recommend heading over and checking out her blog called Call it a Clan. :)

So, when my scarf arrived (in super cute wrapping I might add), I was pumped with a capital P to open it...and the excitement continued when I saw it! I love it! Thank you so much, Stephanie! So today is the day we all formally link to Katie's blog with pics of our fun scarves!

Annnnd here's mine! I made Eric take a pic of me when I brought our Caramel Apple Spices over to his casa on Sunday.. haha..

And I wore it last week, too, to work with an orange shirt and brownish dress pants and boots! Versatile scarf and I love it! (this was with my phone before work). Plus, it was an upper after my icky day last week. :)

Weekend Recap-In Pictures! :)

So, as I blogged last week was a looong week and what's a good way to relieve a week's stress? A chill night with that guy I kinda sorta enjoy. ;) Eric found this awesome little place fairly new to Tulsa in the Farm (a shopping center) called Villa R@venna. Super quaint, pianist in background, great food... Good, relaxing, times. :) Then, we headed off to meet Timberly and some peeps at the movies-We saw Couples Retreat. Honestly, it wasn't nearly as funny as I was hoping for, but a decent flick. *shrug*

Anyway, here's from the self timer balanced on his truck.. Turned out kinda cute, right? :)

Friday night ended up being exactly what the doctor ordered. :)

Saturday, decided to have some girly time with Marla! (after watching abboooout 4 shows on my dvr and then walking around Utica Square, hot tea in hand, getting some good quality Jackie time in). :) We met for sushi at In the R@w (mmmm!) and she'd made me a fun CD! How sweet is that?! She knew it'd been an interesting week for me. :) Best of all, she called it Jax's Trax! Love.it. Her bday is this next weekend and it's sure to be a blast...
After dinner, headed to Leon's where we ran into some other friends! This pic makes me laugh out loud. Marla was sitting on my lap (lack of chair-age), Nicole was making a haute face, Marla was laughing and her eyes were shut.. and the random dude behind us is just waiting on Nicole to come back to he can talk to her again. haha....
A mini dance party to my new CD with Marla on the way home and I was tucked in bed in plenty of time to feel chipper enough to head to work on Sunday by 11:30am to get some stuff knocked out that's been bugging me for awhile. Hooray!

Then, Sunday evening, picked up Caramel Apple Spices and headed to Eric's! It's becoming a Sunday thing.. and I like it! Some football, some tv, some chatting, some halloween costume planning...mostly chilling and relaxing... a good night for sure! :) I laughed b/c randomly, he picked up a pen and started writing on his cup. I was like "what are you doing?" He replied "I wanted it to have my name on mine, too." LOL! (since they put my name on it when I ordered..) hahahaha!
Oh...annnnnnnnnd Sunday, I got boots! How sassy are these?! I love them! I have a major issue getting boots b/c I have thin calves.. No, I'm not being all "woe is me, my calves are thin." I'm saying whether I lose weight, gain weight, work out, dont work out, my calves are annoyingly thin. And I look like a kid wearing mom's heels if I'm not careful in boots. After an hour (or two, but whatever), I found these! Hooray!
All in all, a fabulous and much needed relaxing weekend with people I greatly enjoy...(that includes my dvr..haha). I have NO idea how I keep somehow overcommitting myself. Today, Jenny and I talked about yoga.. I wanted to go really badly.. but then realized that meant I'd have that tonight, a meeting tomorrow night, TU football Wed night, likely pumpkin carving on Thurs night, and then Marla's bday on Friday night AND a Chi O alum dinner on Friday night, too. Um. Whoa. So, no yoga.. and I'm sad to say I think Jenny's under the weather so it likely wouldn't have worked for her either. :( Maybe next week!

Then, Thursday, headed out to the R!ck the 918 concert benefiting TYPR0S and the UW! Here are me + two of the other loaned execs rocking out before the show... haha..
So, yup. There ya go! Hope you had a great weekend, everyone! Tomorrow is that meeting I had last week where I ended up getting crazy upset afterwards. Note that I already have a prelim lunch set up with a friend in the event I need to vent/bawl/sob again.. haha! Likely not, but still.

In 1492, Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue...

Today is a bank holiday. That means Eric is home. Likely sleeping. Or vegging out. Or pretty much doing anything else I'd be jealous of right now. haha.. Granted, Mary is on her 3rd furlough day of the year, so I'm okay with not having the day off I suppose. :)

Weekend recap coming later. I've gotten in the habit of doing them Monday lately. *shrug* Last night, I hung with Eric (and got Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks for us both.. a new Sunday ritual I think! Yum!). :) We were all geared up to watch Entourage, but then there wasn't one.. Was last week the season finale?! Anyway, we had fun chillaxin at his casa. (and picked Halloween costumes!!) It's so funny b/c we usually hang at his place.. and sometimes I give him a hard time about it, but if asked, I'd say I preferred to hang there. My apt is drafty, tiny, (messy...at least right now it is), and there's limited parking. And if a fire truck goes by (fire station down the street), I typically have to pause the tv. haha... Anyway, I'll post our costumes later too! We couldn't decide whether to do something together or not. We're not being that crazy creative, but they'll be fun. Whatevs. :)

Anyhoo, had a great weekend! It was exactly as I predicted: Eric time, ner restaurant, movie, girly time, dvr time! One thing there wasn't.. was state fair time....which was a-okay. I really didn't care about going this year but for some reason, felt like I should.. Convo with Eric:

Me: You think we should go to the fair?
E: Do you want to go to the fair?
Me: I dunno.. maybe we should...
E: Well, do you ride the rides?
Me: Not really.
E: Eat the food?
Me: I dont like things on sticks. (I'll admit that stuff is so.freaking.good. but it doesn't help my eating healthier plan or my saving money plan).
E: Okay...um.. If you want to go, we can go..
Me: Well, it's kinda cold.
E: Oktoberfest is coming... :)
Me: Yes, I'd rather expend my energy there. They have beer and dancing. Done.

haha.. Nice. At least it went something like that... :)

Finally Friday! (and an award!)

This has been one.long.week. Despite the emotional Tuesday (below), things weren't quite as dramatic the rest of the week, but I'm still pooped! I had 5 campaign kickoffs at my companies this week. (If you just started reading, I'm volunteering two mos as a "loaned exec" at the Un!ted W@y, paid by my regular job though, assigned a division of 150 companies, and help them with their internal campaigns). That means I go and give a presentation and people get to listen to me attempt to either (1) pull at their heartstrings a little and/or (2) give them facts and stats. It totally depends on the audience whether I give them MORE facts and stats and less personal/heartstring stories or vise versa.

Along those lines, what appeals more to you out of curiosity? If you were listening to a volunteer org, would you prefer personalized stories about people who've been helped ooooooooooooor facts and stats? Just curious!

Then, I had three evenings of work activities-two of which were my regular job and then one was last night's UW benefit concert. :) Sheesh! Busy lady=me!

I was kinda sleepy this morning and remembered Jamie over at Jamie Unscripted (life in my twenties) had said she left me something on her blog! I got all excited and went over there and she'd given me the Over the Top award! I seriously did a little yay-squeal-thing in my head! haha! Definitely stop by her blog if you're not already a reader-she's awesome annnnnnd is the one who got me hooked on those Caramel Apple Spice ciders from Starbucks! :) Thank you so much for the award, Jamie!

Whatcha dooooin this weekend? After a busy busy week, I'm looking forward to being low.key. :) Some time with Eric, some time with some girl friends, some time with my dog, some time with my dvr... haha.. We have a smaller, artsty movie theater here that shows more independent films, etc, called Circle Cinema. They're currently showing a movie that's gotten some GREAT reviews about Anna W!ntour called The September issue and a few other things that look really good! Plus, Eric just forwarded me an email full of new local restaurants with awesome reviews
so may be experiencing those too!!

Fall Friday attire: skinny jeans, tall boots, lightweight sweater, and my new scarf from the scarf swap (can't wait to post pics!). Love me some fall clothes!! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Wishful AND Way Back Wednesday! :)

First, Wishful Wed!

This week, the topic is I wish I could change one physical trait about myself and that would be.... my hands! I know you prolly think that's weird and lame, but they bug! 1. I get dry skin and have hand lotion in my handbag at all times and 2. I feel like my hands look old! They're kinda wrinkly.. haha... I'm serious! I'd post a pic, but I'm being lazy. Plus, I'm so clumsy so I perpetually have a papercut or something bizarre on them. And b/c apparently I can't just pick one, I'd likely reverse the sun damage I did to my skin at an early age...at least some of it. ;)

Okay, moving on to WAY BACK WEDNESDAY!!!

A special edition of WBW...featuring...Eric!! That's right, my boyfriend was cleaning out his back room (in hopes of making a "man room" soon I might add...haha), he found these pics and passed a couple on! How.freaking.adorable.was.he?! I was kinda a chubby kid and my mom kept my hair super short. I'm admittedly jealous of his lack of chub and cutetasticness. haha.. :)

This makes me laugh.. He still makes this face when driving... er.. uh.... not really, but I'd love it if he did.. hahaha.. ;)

Finally, thanks so much for all your sweet comments on my previous blog...for reals. You guys made me smile! Sometimes I just feel like I need to get.it.out. but I can't b/c I'm sitting in a cube and surrounded by peeps who are great, but who I don't know all THAT well. Soo..yeah.. Everytime my phone vibrated to let me know I had an alert and I saw it was a comment, I think breathing got a little easier with each positive thought from you guys. :)

Tonight with my real co workers was exactly what I needed. :) (and vino. two glasses of vino.) We had a murder mystery dinner-80s theme! People came in and performed it for us at a local restaurant-so fun!!!! I took pics so you're guaranteed they'll get posted soon. And I even won a prize from the actors-an 80s music cd set! YES! I also participated in a conga line. I did. I miss those peeps. For reals. One more month of making a difference....

Tears at work....

....are inappropriate in my opinion. They just are. If I get sad, I rarely cry (unless I'm REALLY sad).. My tears come more from frustration. You ever feel that way? Anyway...

So, breathing deeply so as to hold back tears today in my shared cube was hard. In my regular job, I have an office door I can shut. Not here. Arg.

We had a meeting where we were supposed to report something. Something on my report was recorded wrong (not by me I might add) and since I have the largest goal, mine was a big deal. I said the incorrect number (which really wasn't earth shattering this early in the results piece) and in turn got in trouble afterwards. Like b*tched out. It was really fun. I highly recommend it should you need to practice the whole deep-breathing-not-crying thing.

And the entrance is so damn far away as is the bathroom.

So I met a friend for lunch. And now I'm better. But for reals. *heavy sigh*

My dinner with my department from my regular job tonight is coming at a really good time. I miss that place today. Working for a volunteer organization to raise money in a tough economy is not for the faint hearted. Just sayin.

Concert Weekend Recap!

Concertastic weekend! I had an EARLY morning (think meeting in another town at 7:30am followed by another at 10am back in town and another at 11:30 am at a separate location). But wanted to post these before I crash. :)

Eric and I at his friend, Paul's before the concert! I attempted to make my hair wavy. I'm not sure how I feel about it.. haha...But I do know that I like this pic of us! :)

I had the "vivid colors" switch on accidentally.. haha.. but this is us on the elevator on way to concert! His friend owns a condo in the area so we just walked. :) (Ps while I was there I talked myself into needing a condo.. I'm apparently indecisive, huh?)

Dave and Willy sang a song!! I took about a zillion pics (and videos) during the concert so I'll spare you from them and just post a few of the awesome ones! It was SUCH a good concert, peeps.. and I was never even the huge Dave fan everyone else was in college.. I am now though...but just sayin it was really freaking impressive.

Overall, Dave definitely lives up to the hooplah! He puts on a damn good show! Our tix were with his sis and her boyf and all four of us definitely had a blast! Eric and I may have jammed, danced and taken a couple hilarious videos from our seats..haha.. Maybe I'll post later. :) We had a few beers before and during the concert and were ready to go out afterwards with some peeps.. til we decided to sit down. Bad choice. haha.. It was all over from there. Gooodnight Eric and Jax.. haha... Friday night- 6 stars out of 5. Yup.

Saturday, up and headed to Blue Dome for breakfast.. mmm... People, it is SO good. It's the kind of place that's in a fun, artsy district (love it) and you can go in absolutely anything. My choice Sat morning? Eric's sweatshirt, my jeans and Eric's flip flops. Yeah. For reals. haha.... Headed home, packed and headed to Oklahoma City to see Kel and Kings of Leon!! Gracie made the trip with me and was such a good pup for the drive! She just sits in the passenger seat when I say "get in your seat." haha.. Adorable. Anyway....

Here's our group before the concert!! I ended up running to Target and getting some tights b/c uh.. it was rainy and chilly.. aka..not weather for a minidress (despite what some girls were wearing at the concert.. *nervous*).

This was the re-opening of the Ford Cntr after the remodel job they did on the suites! We sat up there in them and were impressed by the remodel job, but definitely not with the staff. They were kinda rude to be honest... I was told "No pictures. Dont.even.try.it." by a woman old enough to be my grandmother. *nervous* Everyone in that arena had a camera out so I didn't know what she was talking about.. *shrugs* Whatev! I think they have some kinks to work out still.

The only bad thing was a group of area high schoolers sitting in front of us and one of the girls was so drunk, she fell down two rows of seats in her dress. Yeah. For real. This was after she puked. Needless to say, they were removed.. haha...
The ladies behind us kept saying "You guys are so cute.. You're so cute..." Kelli and I were like "uh... thanks.. just take the photo please..." hahah.. The whole thing was hilarious. Sad it's blurry but it's still fun!

Out afterwards to a place called Drinks with a "z" instead of an "s." Jenny, me, Kelli and Candace! (I think she kinda looks like Kristen Cavallar!, right?! But she's super nice unlike Kristen..haha...) Good times!
Jamming out.. We all look ridiculous so I had to post this.. haahaha.. And no, those are not all our drinks.. We'd just taken over a table before it was cleared...
Oooohkay.. soo.. we left bricktown in the rain at around 1am and opted to head for Taco Bell. (duh). I was driving Kel's car b/c hello.. we were out for HER bday so she got to have some fun, peeps. :) Let's just say this is a testament to Oklahoma roads, not my driving.. Well..not my driving as much as Ok roads that is.. haha.. Pothole-1. Jackie-0. The best part is the air compressor Kelli had which we tried to use on the tire. in the rain. in our dresses. at Taco Bell. (why didn't we take a photo?!) Anyway, it's all good. We got home okay and everything's cool now.. but this was the tire in the morning.

Little G was so sad to be in the puddle! haha! She looks so awkward behind Kel's fence in the rain.. :( Poor little thing. She's since had a nice puppy bath. And dude.. I think I'm paranoid, but I missed one month of her heartworm meds and now can't give her the next dose til she gets tested...just to make sure. And I may or may not think everything she does is indicative of heartworm. I'm ridiculous. I know. Question-does your pup ever sound like she has a hairball? She coughs like that sometimes and it's freaking me out. Hello vet bill, meet Jackie. You will be good friend with her credit card later this week. Arg.

My regular job's department meeting is this week in Tul so I'm headed to a murder mystery dinner with everyone tomorrow night! Fun stuff! This week is really busy every evening with work stuff so I might fall off the bloggy bandwagon, but gonna try to stick with it b/c I have some goooood pics for Way Back Wednesday! teehee! (granted this post ended up being long enough to last an eternity.. sheesh.. sorry about that).

Okay, sooo here we go.. seven things people may not know.. Hmm....Let's see if I can find some quirky things I've never blogged about...

1. I check my alarm aboooout 5 times before I go to bed to make sure I've set it correctly. Yes, five times. It's a little ridiculous. (However, if it's not set correctly, my internal clock would wake me up no earlier than 10am.. haha..)

2. Along those lines, I used to have this thing with odd numbers.. I just didn't like them. (If you've been reading for awhile, you might know this, even though I've kinda broken out of it now!). I seriously would lay in bed until the minute was an even number til I'd get up. I thought it was better luck. Now that you think I'm a weirdo, moving on...

3. Bamboo plants may or may not be the only plant I've had that I haven't killed. And the fact that I've had the two bamboos I can see from where I'm sitting since law school is an AWESOME feat in my book! haha! (I firmly believe I'd be better at gardening if I had an actual garden instead of an apt. *nodding affirmatively).

4. I empathize with objects sometimes. I was actually talking about this with my friend in Chicago, Lauren! I felt like I had to verbally say goodbye to my old car before I left it for the new one.. like the car would know if I didn't say goodbye.. haha. When I was little, I used to rotate the teddy bears that slept with me so they all felt loved. (only children have interesting imaginations, people)

5. I was a swimmer in high school, a lifeguard in high school/college, and taught swim lessons AND water aerobics at the ymca. :) I'm aquatic, people.

6. Reading my Glamour magazine is a ritual in the winter. I like to light candles, take a bath and sip whatever beverage I have in a wine glass. (Even Pepsi tastes better in wine glasses. Fact.) ;) Only then will I crack open the magazine in the winter months! and I love it! :)

It's midnight. I should be in bed. But, since I'm not...

I've decided a couple things:

* It's October. That means.. I have less than one month to get my arse in shape for my Halloween costume. What costume, you ask? I have no idea. But, whatever. I need gym motivation so I'm using this. Just sayin.

* I kinda wanna do a giveaway! I will think on this and get back to you.

* Getting my Glamour magazine in the mall feels just as good as getting a greeting card. (It's staring at my in its plastic and I cannot wait to rip it open and learn all the do's/dont's and other pertinent life information.)

Annnd.. I'm putting my scarf in the mail tomorrow for Katie's scarf swap! Ooooh and I got a bloggy award today-I can't wait to post it, but given that it's midnight my "I like to be alert at work" brain is saying "Go.to.bed." Hopefully tomorrow!

Tonight-a good night of Thurs tv with my friend, Timberly. I really think I'm a slave to my dvr. It's getting ridiculous. So excited for a concertastic weekend! Have a great weekend, everyone!
