B/c I'm in my 20s...Lucky 13...

Commitment. Doing something and sticking with it, right? Right. Sounds easy. Hmm...

Maureen and I have been talking about the idea lately...and we think commitment is even harder in your twenties b/c so much seems to be up in the air ALL.THE.TIME. It's the reason she's had a room taped off and ready to be painted for over a month, but hasnt bought any paint. It's the reason I found the perfect comforter-on sale-but havent bought it yet. It's the reason she OWNS her house yet hasn't hung more than a couple things on the walls.

But, this isn't to say we can't commit to anything. I mean.. we commit to plenty. Maureen just took a job to name one example. I mean...people think commitment and they think relationships. Okay, well, I'm committed to that-no problem. :) But, there are some things in your twenties that feel just.so.overwhelming but shouldn't. I mean.. it's a damn comforter for my bed!

Do you know how often I think about rearranging my furniture? Have I done it? No. And, uh, how long did I want a dog before I came upon little Gracie? I research and research and research but just cant quite say "Ummm..okay.." I wait for the "feeling" when you think "wah-lah! That's totally it!" Granted, it worked out with Little Gracie. :)

It's quite the perdicament really and it doesn't make much sense that I can commit to a job, a boyfriend, a dog (finally) and even a hair color, but not a set of 40 dollar sheets at Target. Also, whoooooo has needed a new car for awhile? I mean.. mine's fine, but I'll need a new one sooner rather than later b/c of issues with it. Yet, have I done anything about it? Nope. I start to look online and think "I'll do this later.."

Commitment. Decisions. It's very Scarlett O'Hara "I'll think about that tomorrow" mentality. It's like I kinda put my palm on my forehead, lay back and sigh "Enough decisions today...need rest..." Lol! This isn't to be confused with not knowing what I want... I mean.. Once I know what I want, I go for it, guns blazing. But, it's the sitting there thinking "Wait...do I want this...or this...am I sure? Hmm.."

Welp, plates are continuously spinning in our twenties...and I shall continue to mentally plot the rearranging and re-decorating of my apt while Maureen continues to fold down pages of painted rooms she likes. We're not alone. We know it. Thank you and Happy Wednesday. :)

right there with you. i'm such a spontaneous person though and i make impulse decisions, so i painted my new apartment when i moved in five months ago and am ready to totally change it all. samuel thinks i'm nuts. but we ARE going to re-paint the bathroom. cuz i found a new shower curtain on sale at anthropologie and bought it and it's gorgeous so the BRICK RED bathroom has to go. i'm crazy.

Hmm...I'm not sure if that is a commitment issue, or if it is just being indecisive. I know what you mean. I'll go after something and then not take/buy/do it when I get there. I think it's just being lazy and indecisive and maybe a little afraid of change even.
