Playa Montezuma

Hi hi!!! First of all, thanks for your comments!! I like coming down to the internet cafe when I think people are actually reading. :)

So, the canopy tour was AMAZING. Seriously. We went on the "Original" canopy tour. (They have a place in Jamaica, too, Blaze!!) It included climbing a rotted out tree and two rappels. I got some outstanding pics...One of the tour guides called himself the paparazzi and took pics with my camera the whole time. :) Big fan of him...haha!

So, that night, we had pizza and wine....and went to bed at 8. No kidding. haha... Sooo tired. We caught an express bus (aka air cond minivan) to Montezuma. It was about 6 hrs including van to Puntarenas then ferry over then another van to Montezuma. Montezuma is so amazing we dont think were going to go anywhere else... Can you believe it?! It's a little beach town the locals call "Montefuma" (*and then make a motion like they're smoking*) hahahaha.. It's full of young people, beach bums and surfers...and has a rep for the best night life in the peninsula.

We rode the express shuttle with a couple from Ireland, a couple from Rome, and a couple from Chicago. We've all become awesome friends and hit up the bar/outdoor dance club last night. I went to bed long before Aaron who was having some male bonding time trying to drink the Irishman drink for drink.. (*brilliant idea...right*) hahahaha.. Also met an awesome girl named Kat who works for an organic magazine in AZ. She and I danced the night away and the three of us (her, me and Aaron) are about to hike the waterfalls...Jury's still out if she's as awesome sober. Ill let you know...haha.

We ended up TRYING to hike one yesterday in flip flops (not realizing how far it was) and I totally rolled my ankle.. hot.. haahaha.. Speaking of, we're taking pics of all my injuries as we go. It's funny.. At the lowest waterfall, I wanted to be brave and climb up like Aaron had (which is incredibly hard with the water spraying in your face). I did it, but cut my leg quite nicely..haha.. Whatever...I was so proud of myself though...

On a funny note, I still have problems with the money conversion... like MAJOR problems. I bought a necklace from a street guy last night...When I showed Aaron (proudly), he was like "uh you just paid 30 bucks for that..." Eh well.. I'm contributing to the local artists.. (whatever)

Our little hotel is 60 bucks per night....has a tv and a/c! And they own the resort (ylang ylang) so we get in there for free and get to use the pool, etc.... Our little group is all meeting for a happy hr there later...

And oh...the waves are friggin TALL..I mean... tallest I've ever seen in person. My photos will never do this place justice and I never thought I'd say that. The rip tide is insane so not lots of swimming but lots of "look at me... I'm in the wave...no...I'm drowning!" haha...

You cant make this shit up

So...I made it to Costa!!!!! Free internet where we are and I HAD to tell you all about my flight....

1. I was delayed on the runway in Dallas for 2 hours...thus making my Costa arrival midnight and making me sit next to dateline for about 6 hrs.
2. Who is dateline, you ask? Well...that's the guy who opened converasation with "I live in the Phillippines....I get hookers there for like 20 bucks and they are good ALL NIGHT..." Mind you...he was like 60 and seriously looked like someone from "to catch a predator"
3. He promptly got WASTED with his gallon of vodka he brought...oh..and so did his father...who sat next to him....
4. He then told me.."I'm starting a gay porn site...they're into that you know...mutual masterbation."
5. My eyes were wider than friggin blow up doll's....
6. Oh...then, he spilled my pepsi on me....yes...yes this really happened...
7. Then, he peed himself. Im really not kidding here. He announced it.

I made it here... and dateline t old me his itinerary....so I will NOT be seeing him again. Freak.

Had to share! Miss you and love you all! WOO HOO! COSTA!!! PURA VIDA!!!!!!!! (everyone keeps saying that to me

"Hey upper east-siders, gossip girl here..."

Yes. I really said that.

As the ads say... OMFG... Did you SEE Gossip Girl last night? I dont feel so badly about being addicted to it b/c it's friggin GOOD.

Dude. I leave tomorrrrrrrrrow!!! The weather just north of where we're going to be is above 90 degrees... like right now. at 9am. HOLY MOLY. I never found a rain jacket, so.. guess I'll just deal with it. Started to lay stuff out I want to take.. I have no earthly idea. In my backpack, I need to fit: first aid, 7 days of clothes, swimsuits, shoes, beach towel, etc etc etc...

I set my alarm so I dont forget my passport. That would be BAD, but something I would totally do.

Went to Kampai for it's last night open last night. Boo. But, rumor is there's a rooftop bar opening on b-side. Like it! Sad Kampai is closing. It had actually leveled out to be a pretty good place...esp after Jewel took all the meat-heads and fake-id scantily clad girls away...

I dont feel like I'll be on vacation tomorrow. I have all this excitement, but it's weird b/c I cant really equate it with "I will be on a beach by the end of the week..." It's more just randomly placed giddy-ness. No cell phone, no laptop, no makeup.... (well, maybe some lipgloss and mascara...) ;)

My camera holds 600 photos. People, you should be afraid.

I'll blog more before I leave...likely tonight when I dont want to pack. Love love!

Things that disturb me

I went to look at my Belize pics on webshots. I no longer use webshots b/c it's public. Anyway...they've been viewed over 11 thousand times...and downloaded 43 times. Really? Sick.

And.. I want a cerveza!

In the spirit of the day, what's your favorite beer?!

Mine: Corona with a lime.

Set the DVRs

Grey's will re-air at 10:35 pm on Sat.

Lost will re-air directly following- 11:35 pm.

No word on Ugly Betty.

Also, Apparently Dick Cheney is here this weekend. In the process of looking for more info, I found this: http://www.blogoklahoma.com/ Kinda cool. I think I'll join. :)
I have another crack in my windshield today. I think someone is trying to tell me something. Pissed. I cant handle that religious woman again. Not in the mood. Last time she told me to pray and command the storm to not damage my car. Yes, I am serious.

Also pissed that the moment the news came on, the weather stuff stopped. REALLY? I'm emailing those people today. Dont think I'm not going to.

Rotation. Wall Cloud. Golf Ball Size Hail. Path of the Tornado.

Things I learned in college: storms were MUCH more fun when the key phrases were part of a drinking game.

So, I guess it's totally worth it to miss Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost...all for rotation and weather crap. WAIT-NO IT'S NOT!!!! THREE HOURS OF WEATHER? REALLY? REALLY? Alright.. so I dont really watch Ugly Betty, but someone out there does.. and they're PISSED... as am I. DAMNIT.

My personal favorite.. One of their redneck weather spotters just called in and said "you're not gonna believe this... I kin see a rainbah... in the dark... I've never seen one in the dark.."

Dude. I'm missing LOST...and you're talking about rainbows? OMFG.

So, I guess I'll blog.

Get this... I was driving along...when... all of a sudden... my car (and the others at the 31st and peoria traffic light) were SWARMED with BEES... like hundreds of them! I am SO not kidding!! The guy in the car next to me and I exchanged glances like "WTH?"

Good thing I'm deathly allergic. Awesome. Killer bees and tornados tonight.

While we're talking about bees, I took this picture the other day outside my apt...as in within my line of walking...

Oh, what, you cant tell what those are? Here.. Lemme help you.....

Yeah, they're just hanging out... Oh, and I'm not stupid.. even the 1st pic was with my zoom lens. And... is it rude to ask my LL's to move the birdbath...or something? I seriously say a prayer every day I walk past it. Everyone please watch your cell phones b/c if you get a random call, I likely need emergency services. Thank you.

Tonight, I finally used a gift card I had to Barnes and Noble. I was waiting to find a book worthy enough... and I think I totally did.

I'm trying to save it for my 9hr trip next week to Costa, but I'm so excited to read it... Maybe this is the book that will get me back into reading...Law school zapped that hobby...Plus, I rarely buy hardback-you KNOW I want to read it. LOL!

My buddy, George Flickinger (weather) is still rambling about wind damage, so maybe I'll start reading now. Oh, great..we're down to one tornado warning and it's in the town of Hulah and Whippoorwill. No, I am not kidding. That means it'll all be over just about when Lost ends. How convenient.

Finally, I wanna take a second and wish SARAH a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! This picture is from homecoming when we pretended to be in a cage. Yeah. I dunno. :))) Happy birthday, Sarah!!

I'm 0 for 2 at the gym this week. Well, I did the butts n guts but the second I tried to hit the treadmill or anything else, I seriously got dizzy and had to leave. WTH?! I think my body is still fighting off the cold I had last week. Bad timing though since vaca is next week. Boo. (*No, I'm not prego and yes I am eating enough good-for-me foods*) ;)

Bad news: Forever 21 isnt opening til mid summer. Cheap accessories shall remain at Target for me. *le sigh*
This is what I plan to be doing this time next week. Just so you know.

Alright, I'm busy so I'll try to blog more lata!

Alright, so maybe my buttons are a leetle more push-able this week. I have NO idea why, though. Seriously. I am going to stop being so intense..ready...now.

Okay, but, all the Miley Cyrus mumbo jumbo provoked another question:

Would you let your teen daughter wear thong underwear?

I would. Who the hell cares? It hides panty lines. Most guys I've talked to say NO WAY JOSE. My theory is that men dont understand. Granted, I'm not talking super lacey frederick's here... but still.

Also, regardless as to the sexuality of the Miley thing, I dont think it's a good photo. Girlfriend needs a cheeseburger and a tan. Just sayin. She's 15. People make mistakes at 15. I think it's crap that her parents are saying they werent there for the shoot when footage shows them there. But, I also think it's crap that the picture (before cropping) has her in jeans and shoes holding a blanket. They kinda cropped it to make her look naked. That's crap. I think the pic of she and her daddy is WAY weirder than the blanket/goth looking one.

Oh..and as for Disney: check out this tmz article: http://www.tmz.com/2008/04/30/disneys-dirty-little-victorias-secret/ Lord. I hope my work server doesnt think I'm into kids by reading that story.

Eh, if Vanessa Hudgeons (sp) can recover from the underwear candid photo, I think Miley will be just fine. I bet Vanity Fair wont ask to take her photo again...haha...

Oh, so you wanted to make me mad...

Things that irk me to NO END:

1. When someone assumes/infers/makes a comment about me being high maintenance or prissy. I will readily admit that I CAN be those things. I'm WAY more high maintenance in terms of non-physical things...and I'll admit that, too. I suppose we all create our own definition of "high maintenance" and I dont feel like showering and makeup is really that significant. Whatever.

2. When someone assumes something about me or puts words in my mouth. There is NO quicker way to set me off. I'm a career communicator so I give a lot of weight to what I'm communicating-verbally and non-verbally.

3. When someone is condescending or patronizing. I am the QUEEN of doing this in arguments.. I know that. But, maybe that's b/c it drives me so insane. I leave the realm of 'healthy discussion' and enter 'go eff yourself' when someone does this.. haha..

4. When I'm dealing with someone who assumes there is only one way to do things. I try to value what others bring to the table...their strengths. Just b/c two people head into a situation in two different ways doesnt make one way wrong.

I need to go to the gym more.

You know what else irks me? My trip to the MAC counter yesterday:
Me: "I need a lipglass..with color.."
Her: "Okay, here are some new ones with glitter!"
Me: "Um.. alright. But I dont really need glitter.."
Her: "Just try it....Oh that looks so good!!"
Me: "I look like little miss makeup."
Her: "Okay, here's a sheer gloss."
Me: "I need color."
Her: "Okay, this one has glitter and color."

Really? REALLY?

First and foremost... on my vaca in Belize, I borrowed a headscarf from a girl we traveled with b/c my hair wouldnt stay outta my face. That said, I cant find any cute ones for Costa. I'm looking for cute headscarves but more wanting headbands. I've looked at Accessory City and they're all the uncomfy/cheap kind with hearts and butterflies. I dont mind patterns, but uh... no hearts. I'd really like some fun patterns but also some basic, thin black and brown ones....

Did you see the Hills? I think I'm going to become a reality tv star if I could afford that house. And...why are they being mean to Audrina? Kinda crappy if you ask me.

Do you watch Gossip Girl? What do you think the big secret is??? What did Serena do? Intrigued.

Something funny I only realized yesterday... In high school, something I totally remember that I liked a lot was writing the speech/helping run my friend Shawna's campaign. I dont even remember what she was running for, but I remember wearing a blue dress with flowers when I gave the speech (*cringe*) (I have a strange memory for clothes..it extends to dates, events, etc...) Anyway...then in college.. I ran for Vice President-Public Relations (and got it) of Panhel. So, I guess it's not a total shocker that I'm sitting at my current job and liking it, huh? Woulda never made the connection if I hadnt thought about it... weird.

That's all from me for now. Lates.

Prom-revisited. :)

Friday night, Brett and I (see photo) chaperoned our old high school's prom! The theme: A Night in Hollywood. The location: Mayo Hotel downtown. For those of you who didnt know, my high school was (1) public and (2) not exactly a place for preps if you get the drift....
Notable things from prom:

1. the large amount of dresses I'd NEVER let my daughter walk out of the house in...
2. the VERY out-of-the-closet-slightly-gangster-lesbian-couple. I wasn't shocked b/c they were lesbians...but b/c it was so accepted... That's awesome if you ask me...and shocked me b/c it goes to show how much stuff has changed since I went to prom almost 10 years ago (Lord, I'm old).
3. I had someone come up to "Coach" (my date, Brett...so weird to hear them call him "Coach") Anyway...she looked at me and said "I think I know you....you lifeguarded where I used to swim as a kid." I reiterate. I'm old.
4. When I went to the bathroom, two girls were in there. One saw me, the other didnt. The one who hadnt seen me said "Can you see through this... I think my nipples are showing.." Then the other quickly goes "SHHHHHH!! The chaperone is in here..." LOL!!!!!!!! Intimidating. I like it.
5. Two girls came in holding coffee cups with lids. They continued to share their "coffee" with guys. I told Brett, "they're SO not drinking coffee..." He said "Where would they get coffee?" I said "No... it's alcohol..." He said "oooooOOOhhhh..." LOL!
6. The balcony/second floor was open (where I took the pics -with no flash- to not look like a stalker). Brett and I camped there for awhile....and watched couples nervously and not-so-subtly sneak off. Wonder what they were trying to do? ;) Gah.. we were SO not as sneaky as we thought at that age....(they didnt go anywhere; all the rooms were closed off, but it was funny to watch them try...)
These pics were just as people were arriving and starting to dance.... I guess white suits are in?
7. The obvious way everyone cared what others thought. I guess that's just high school, but I would SO change how much I cared about that stuff if I could go back...
8. The OBVIOUS crush the girls had on Brett. He, like all men, was oblivious. I, however, enjoyed watching girls giggle when they looked at him and eye me like "who is THAT with Coach..." My personal fave was the girl who took a few pics when he wasnt watching.
9. Those kids can DANCE. My God... I mean... half the baseball team broke out in the Soulja Boy....
10. There were a LARGE number of kids with (real) star tattoos (multiple tattoos)... Girls had them on their shoulders, chest, etc.. One guy wore a white tux with tons of stars all over the vest... I didn't get it and chose to assume it was b/c they liked stars...and not b/c it was affiliated with anything else.
11. The couple-Juno style. Senior girl=pregnant with freshman guy's baby who seriously looked like Juno's man in the movie. Could you imagine being pregnant at prom? I felt for her.
_______________________________________________________________
Anyway...It was a totally good time. Saw a couple of my old teachers, my old principal, and had formal "prom pics" taken. hahaha. Cute-all the way around. :)
________________________________________________________________
Anyway...the rest of the weekend was spent pretty low key. Today, I went through my purse/travel bag I carried in Belize/Guatemala. I'm such a sentimental freak that I'd kept stuff in it from the trip. I plan to carry the bag again through Costa. Anyway... look what was in there...
__________________________________________________________________
a note from Matt n Mo (the other couple we met) telling us they were going to eat or something, broken sunglasses, money, cork from Francis Ford Coppola's restaurant, plane ticket/boarding pass, benadryl, receipts.... Funny.

What will be in there THIS trip (since I'm a little more experienced and wiser this time around): hand sanitizer, travel toilet paper, bandaids/alcohol pads, camera in travel case AND baggie (waterproof), energy bar.
_________________________________________________________________
Getting excited for my trip!! Leave a week from Wednesday!!! I have every intention of trying to bring my cowboy hat. I dont know why; I just want to. We'll see how this goes...
