What the February?!

Alright, alright... Feb's tricks got to me today. Hmph.

Someone on a power trip tried to throw me under the bus today. He's not anyone important and I didnt do anything to deserve it. So, I came out of the gates swinging...(and surprised him) and showed him. Hmph. It really hacked me how entitled he thought he was, though. I mean...aside from doing what he did to ME today, he asked some of our event planners to WASH DISHES at his house b/c he was having a work dinner. Um... yeah. And...as for me...he wanted something done for the meeting (next week) TODAY. I told him he'd have to wait for my vp (aka his boss) to finalize things. His holier than thou response..."I'd rather not wait til the last minute." Um, did you READ what I wrote?! It's YOUR BOSS who I work for...not you....and...she wants to WAIT. So, get off your high horse. Ah..lookie at me getting worked up again...haha...

Sooo.. I had a doc appt today for my back and I was glad to get out of the office b/c of jerky mcjerkerson (updates to follow). :)

But for now, I'm headed to the gym to work out today's Februaryness.

And b/c I cant leave Lost out of the blog...
* Dude. Why isnt Faraday's nose bleeding??
* I dont know WHY they got sick...but I'm glad we kinda get it now (the french people). And uh...does that mean the Jin actually changed history? I mean...Rousseau was gonna go in that hole, too! So...agh! This time travel thing is really confusing!
* Faraday has been there before?!
* Yeah yeah..we knew Hawking was his mom. Duh.
* Bye  bye Charlotte. You wont be that missed. But, you grew up there?! Wha?
* So, we all called the Jacob thing, right...or at least Jack's dad's involvement.
* Did you totally cheer when Sawyer and Jin ran into each other in real time?! I totally did!

Alright. More to come... maybe a picture of my back xrays. Yeah, I know. I'm so exciting.

I dont understand, but I'm on it...

I dont understand Twitter... but it seems that everyone else does. So I signed up today. I think I requested to follow you people.. or some of you.. I dont know what that means. Yeah. I know. Anyway, I'm Ok_Jax and would like advice. Love and thanks.

Wednesday Goodness...and a little ranting...

So, before I get on a soapbox (cause I'm going to)...I'll ramble about my morning. :)

This morning, I got the be a panelist (of three, including me) to score a high school mock trial competition. Apparently, it's big time. I mean.. the thing was held in the actual courthouse, attorney and judges score them (why I was there-duh), and they've been preparing since November! The final team goes on to NATIONALS!

I was SHOCKED at how prepared they were given their level in school. They were familiar with an edited version of the evidence code, etc.. They had to introduce exhibits, stipulate facts, give opening and closing statemtents, examine (and cross) three witnesses, conduct voir dire... and raise appropriate objections. (Teams were approximately 8 kids from each school-one side defense, other plaintiff). We had to pick the best atty and best witness from each side. I got a little argumentative with the other panelists about who I wanted to win. Comedy. Then, we got to give em feedback. It was SO cute.. they wrote down everything we said super diligently. I think I was the Paula Abdul of the committee...lots of "good job when you did ___, work on ___, but excellent job with ___..." haha.. :) My feedback form was FULLLLLL of examples of how each kid did well, plus a bonus tip for improvement. C'mon, I didnt wanna be a dreamkiller here. (Plus, they really did do super well). Anyway, fun and I'll definitely do it again.

Know what pleasantly surprised me? In my opinion, the best attorneys were all minorities-two African American guys and a Caucasian girl. I didn't make a point to really notice races or sex..that's not what I'm saying...but rather at the end, when I was thinking back, I really appreciated the place our country is in with diversity. I liked it. *nodding affirmatively* :)

I was so thrilled to be back on that side of town for lunch again, I HAD to eat at Queenies! Luckily, Dennis was a willing lunch companion. And uh, I might think Valentines is kinda funny blah blah, but there is NOTHING funny about these fabulous choco covered strawberries. Oh.My.Gawd. I HAD to have one. And HAD to take a picture of what a BITE looks like out of these monsters of choco-berry goodness. AM.A.ZING. If Vday brings the berries, I'm a supporter! :)

Okay, soapbox starting...NOW. I was commenting to a co worker about how pleased I am that a radio station is boycotting Chris Brown's music thanks to his beat down of his girlfriend..at least temporarily. I've never been beaten nor has anyone in my family, but I cant tell you how strongly I feel about this stuff. I used to want to be an attorney for DVIS (before I realized they make less than nothing and abusers often follow the attys home...yeeikes). Anyway, my co worker was kinda like "eh..yeah.. I suppose." I was like "Look, people'll drop Michael Phelps from endorsements for smoking weed...LAME...but he DID break the law...I'll give em that...So, radios SHOULD be boycotting Chris' music right now for friggin BEATING his girlfriend." I could tell he didnt agree with my Michael Phelps weed assessment as lame any more than he agreed with my Chris Brown one..haha...But, anyway...I continue to make my point here. I applaud them for boycotting his music for right now.

*stepping down from soapbox*

Annnnd... have a great day! :)

Tuesday Random Boringness

Yesterday, I actually accomplished the gym and the bachelor..not so much the laundry. And uh..my apt is looking messier by the moment. And I think Gracie's mad at me for it being so dirty. (just sayin). My apt is like lazy- messy right now. Ya know.. the Target sack is still on the kitchen counter b/c apparently the trashcan is too far away..that kind of messy. Anyway..whatever.

Melissa is still on the bachelor! YEAH-YUH! I really want her to win, but the girl I love never wins.. *sigh* I mean.. I liked Jenny and that other guy was inches from picking DeAnna..who we all found out has the personality of a tree stump. I mean seriously.

The weather's calling for hail. I'm sitting here contemplating ways to save my windshield and/or new car's hood/roof, etc. Throwing my body on it seems like a good plan right now...

Alright, I promised G dawg some outdoor playtime so I'd better get outta here (no the time on my blog isnt correct I dont think... It's always saying weird times.. whatever. Right now, its the end of the workday. So there) :)

SPRINGTIME OVERHAUL!

It's the weather.

It makes me want to clean EVERYTHING. Baseboards, wax the wood floor, etc. It's crazy stuff.

I want all new clothes. And to re-organize my closet. (note the singular.. b/c I have ONE.CLOSET. ahh..old buildings. sigh).

I want to work out almost every minute of the day (until I actually go to the gym and think "whoa. this is hard.")

Basically, it's the weather. The nice weather makes me want to freshen everything up about everything.

Tonight: gym, laundry and the Bachelor (GO MELISSA!!!). Tomorrow: baseboards. (nervous).

And uh.. just for the fun of it.. do you know how to play spades? What the hell is a "trick?" It's a long story. Just fill me in. Thanks. XOXO.

Statuses is a funny word

Alright, I know I can be perky. Fair enough. But, I like it. While I know life isnt vomiting roses and shitting daisies all the time, I also know I'm pretty friggin lucky. And when I get my panties in a wad, thinking about how fortunate I truly am pulls me out of a funk.. But, it doesnt mean I dont have bad days (most of you who read my blog know that. duh.). And it doesnt mean I dont dwell. We all do. But, I think most of us rant about it and move on, ya know?! Even if someone has a bad week...a bad month... I mean.. I get it. Life can suck. Sure there are days when I wanna pull the covers over my head... But, for the most part, I believe attitude really IS everything...and I believe in changing your situation...if possible.

Anyway, that said....person __, your fb statuses are annoying. I mean... really... I get that you had a bad time recently  thanks to your statuses (none of you know this person.... I dont think...and he/she doesnt read my blog). But, do your fb statuses always have to be so friggin depressing?! I mean.. every.day. It's like... "___ is sick. as usual." or "___ is having a bad week. like normal" or "___ is tired of working for little gratification.." Good Lord. I mean... Like I said, people can have bad times. I know. But, there has to be a silver lining...or find a therapist (or maybe happy pills). Looks to me like you have a job, a family, friends who care (per fb comments), a roof over your head (given that you have internet access I'm thinking this is the case) etc etc etc.. I mean.. I know that's not everything, but it's more than some people have for crying out loud.

Anyway, I bet you're better off than the guy in my alley searching through dumpsters. I bet you're better off than those people under the bridge I see sometimes. I bet you're better off (at least financially) than lotsa people I know who've recently gotten laid off. Anyway, I'm not mad at you. Obviously I don't walk in your shoes. But, here's hoping you're able to either get a little perspective or things really do improve for you...or both.

I just couldnt be a shit....b/c I really dont know what he/she's going through...but from face(book) value....yeah.

Anyway, maybe he/she needs a blog. *shrug* Just sayin.

Oh and I cant sleep.... Obviously.

Weekend Wonderful

So, if you're in this area, I hope you got out and enjoyed the awesometastic weather! G money and I went to Woodward and walked around. She was so excited! I havent tried out the new bark park, but am kinda excited to... Maybe this week. :) Heard there's even an area for small pups.. so G cant antagonize German Shepherds and Boxers then run to me with the look of "holy shit.. what just happened..agggghhh!" And for the fun of it.. heres an example from last year.. hahhaha....
Anyway, other than that, there was some shopping (trying to use xmas gift cards...only to find nada I liked..whatever), an arts n crafts project (to be divulged later..haha), Wild Fork breakfast and antique shopping with Eric, and wine with Sara... Overall=good.weekend. :))

Suppose Ill watch the Grammy Awards tonight...the red carpet show isnt that interesting. Ryan Secrest is a tool...and Guiliana looks overly fake baked. And then there's Miley....Lord. Ryan actually just told Miley she acts older than Taylor Swift (who is standing right there). Someone kick him, please. Hopefully Britney will do something entertaining.

Yeah, that's all I've got...

In the Shades of Evening....there must...

Change can be such a weird, weird thing...

Today, I accidentally emailed a friend at her old address at the old law firm. (Mary, duh). A partner shot an email back saying I basically needed to update my contacts list. So, since I have a headache, I wrote a thank you back to her and confirmed my contacts were updated; they'd just failed me today, however I fully understood where my email was NOT intended to go with a "haha" added. Basically I was totally unbothered and laughed at the sitch. I wouldnt have laughed at the sitch even a year ago. I prolly would have been scared shitless to see her name in my inbox where my heart pounded faster for that moment. Not anymore.. b/c really..who the hell cares. I'm not a child. I'm an adult with a law degree and great job. The fact that I laughed and shook my head instead of going "OMG I cant believe I emailed her there!" was totally evident of some serious changes I've been through...haha...

Change is so weird, b/c sometimes you dont even realize it's happening. I mean.. I know when I left the firm, that was an obvious change....but I dont know when my reaction to that partner's email became laughter instead of fear... Anyway, change can be many things, but one can only hope in her 20s, change is mostly a good thing....

Ranting in the abstract per usual...but just sayin...I think some of you know what I'm talking about aside from the firm rantings.. (and no, I'm not leaving my job, sillies. I love my job!)

I'll write about Lost later... likely in conjunction with Grey's. :) Have a great evening!!!

Ummm...what?!

1. I logged into facebook today....and had an "orgasm request." Yes, I really did. What the eff? It said "___ (weird person from middle school btw) would like to give you an orgasm. Share the love?"

I think I'm scared to login again. Just this summer, facebook was letting me give "hugs" and now it's already skipped 2nd and 3rd base? Jeez.us. Facebook, you're a whore.

2. My LL's raised my rent in the form of a steep pet deposit they're imposing on everyone. Considering I offered to pay one a LONG time ago when I got Gracie...and considering it's kinda steep, it's basically another way to raise the rent and it pisses me off. However, I HAVE noticed large...um...doggy waste issues...in the apt bldg's little yard. I mean.. LARGE.. and a lot of them. It's kinda sick (especially on top of white snow. ew.) Well, this morning, I saw someone from the condos...walking her weimaraner from her front door, straight to our yard and then back inside! NO POOPER SCOOPER OR ANYTHING! Are you serious?! That's (a) gross and (b) RUDE and (c) likely a reason for the recent rent increase b/c my LL's prolly thought it was someone in my bldg (a neighbor just got a dog). Who does that?! In someone else's yard?! EVERY DAY?

3.  While walking G dog, I noticed some wires running from the pole thing....to the TREE TRUNK and wrapped around it to hold it in place. Sooooomething tells me that's not safe...??? Maybe? *shrug* Yeah. Seeeeeee?!

4. There was like a gang of geese at work today. I mean.. forget the lone soldier outside my window... There were 30 of them. (I took another pic on my phone, but am being lazy right now about uploading). I think they're planning a takeover.

5. Finally, not taking my pill makes me crazy (as we've discussed), I think I've decided to try a leeeetle experiment of skipping the craziness this month. That's right. I'm gonna keep taking the fake, systemic hormone candy and see.what.happens. (maybe). TMI, but whatever. It's my blog. Will report back about this. (Additionally, while on this issue, Maria's post about bc today was on point if you ask me. At dinner, Maureen told me about yet ANOTHER person with a blood clot from it...in her lungs. That makes three people close to myself or my friends..that have spent time in the friggin intensive care unit. I mean...no joke. That's kinda a lot, right?!) Babies or blood clots? *imagine acting like my hands are scales weighing the options* NERVOUS!

As stated above, went to dinner with Maureen tonight! Good times to catch up n laugh at our randomness. :) I forgot to tell her about facebook's attempt at sexual gratification though. Hells bells.

Yeah, that's all I've got for ya today. I think that's enough, though! Geez! :) (And Melissa is still.in.the.running. I think it'll come down to her and Molly. I'm callin it. Right here. Thoughts?)

I believe..

I haven't done one of these in awhile... Soooo...

I believe...

...drinking anything out of a wine glass (my fav is oj) feels empowering
...embracing alone time can be food for the soul
...in staying out of credit card debt (Student loans make up for that anyway...haha)
...if you cant act like a kid with someone, you shouldn't date them
...if you ONLY act like a kid with someone, you shouldn't date them
...cleaning my apartment increases my sanity
...returning the shopping cart gets me points with someone, somehow
...banks should give out lollipops again
...the right handbag, haircut, outfit can make your day
...we should compliment each other more in life
...you shouldnt give a homeless/needy person money if you're going to lecture them about God, drinking or their decisions. (People that do that piss me off. Sorry, they do.)
...heated seats have changed my life
...I will beat the February blah's!!
...real relationships require teamwork...and sometimes just work, period.
...I'm not "wasting my day" if I sleep til 10 on a Saturday.
...dogs can smile (esp little Gracie) :)
...learning about the world by experiencing it is the best way to go
...true love is always worth it
...a "shot at love" is the crappiest, most disgusting show ever permitted on television
...in stolen moments
...I'll never be able to give up soda..haha...
...in "dancing it out" (Grey's reference)
...in laughing til my stomach hurts
...everyone should skinny dip at least once in life
...true friends= family

I have a zillion more, but The Bachelor is calling me on my dvr... :) Crossing my fingers for Melissa!!!

Weekend Recap

Alright...so the below isnt really from the weekend yet.. It's from my first hotel room (before I changed) in Kansas. Dude. Seriously. Note the tv's position.. not facing bed...not facing living room. Who thought THAT was a good idea? Just sayin...
Anyway, the weekend was great! Friday started with Dennis' bday dinner. We made him wear a sombrero. Enough said. The "fam" hadnt been reunited in awhile (Mary, Dennis and me..survivors of the firm o fun...all with different jobs now).
After dinner, Eric and I went to see "Taken"...which we didnt realize was PG-13...aka crammed with teens. I had no idea the main character was SHANNON from Lost.... Yeah, NO.IDEA. She looked that different. Just sayin.

Saturday, we celebrated little Landen! (and Sarah. Duh). Hadnt seen some people in FOREVER so it was a great little get-together. :) Despite what she says, how friggin adorable is Sarah? (You are....deal with it). My personal fav is she's still in heels....haha! I'd like to think that's how I'll do pregnancy, too. Just sayin. (Although if I break my back sober in flats...prolllllly not a good idea. Whatever).

Anyway, we had a good time. And it makes me realize we need more girls nights...

Saturday night, I had some quality Jax time...aka a super long nap on the sofa and stayed in (minus a trip to Braums...whatev.) And today was the.most.productive.EVER. I felt so proud. Car washed....cheeeeck. Grocery shopped...cheeeeck. Worked out...cheeeeck. Laundry done....half cheeeck.. haha... Anyway, pizza and superbowl at Eric's was a great end to a very productive day. :)

Hoping this week isn't as chaotic as last! Cheers to a good weekend!

Distractions I didnt know were out there....

I was bored... went to Time's top 50 websites of 08. These are the ones I hadn't seen before that are kinda cool :)

www.iliketotallyloveit.com - fun, quirky stuff

www.omiru.com -fashion tips, shopping, etc

www.wikitravel.com - this is awesome for looking at destinations! Awesome tips all centralized!

www.picnik.com - another photo editing tool, why not

www.hulu.com - compilation of the best shows, best segments, etc...

www.carbonrally.com - this is more for you "go greeners." It makes going green a challenge (if you want). I think that's kinda fun.. to join others and compete and also do good for the environment. I like it.

www.digitalvaults.com - One of the things I loved most in DC was the National Archives! They have a thing there where you can computer search anything to read about controversies, etc.. Welp, guess what's ONLINE! Love it!

www.freerice.com - It's a site that gives away rice via UN, etc.. but the trick is...you have to play games to earn it!

Other featured sites I love on the list: apartmenttherapy.com, someecards.com and others :)
