Dude.

I'm busy, but have an addiction to blogging. So, here's something funny for you.

Just another Manic Monday...

Things that make you go hmmm...

* I'm on a plane. Like right now. Like as you're reading this. Well, if it's between 7 and 9am, I am.

* Matthew McConaughey's quote about his unborn baby: Got some blessed news...a celebration of life and bounty...a newborn conceived. Yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together...it's 3 months growin' in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far..God bless evolution. Um. Okay?

* Saw 27 Dresses with Jennifer on Sat night. If I was gonna text you about it, I apologize, but we kinda made it a very last minute thing...then went out to grab a couple glasses of wine. Movie: It's a combo of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with a hint of My Best Friend's Wedding. Overall, predictable, cheesy, but cute. A few hilarious one liners liiiiike...

#1: HEIGL: "I feel like I just found out that my favorite love song was written about a sandwich."

#2: UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: "It must be so hard to watch your younger sister get married before you. "
HEIGL: "Yes. But then I remembered that I still get to have hot, hate sex with random strangers and I feel so much better."

* Speaking of movies... I think I want to see Cloverfield after dissing it in my head (yes, I said "dissing."). Also, I do NOT want to see that movie about a website killing someone.. Effed. UP. You care about these facts. I know.

* Sat was so productive, it scared me. Cleaned, shopped, worked my ass out so hard at the gym that it STILL hurts. I used to just take a nap when I'd get stressed or overwhelmed with worrying about retarded things. Now, I just blast my IPOD and kick some ass at the gym sometimes...mostly b/c Gracie wont let me sleep..not b/c I'm that much more energetic.

* What is UP with that "Moment of Truth" show starting on Fox this week? People get hooked up to lie detectors then asked horrible questions in front of their spouse, etc..like "Have you ever touched a co-worker inappropriately?" or "Do you see yourself still being married in 5 years?" Are we really stooping this low as a society to watch this crap? Right.

* I hate packing. I need to go do it. Boo. Wish me luck on my trip. (I'm hanging with my new VP at a meeting).

Insert me throwing up a peace sign Lindsay Lohan style... Lates, people.

T.G.I.F.

It's FRIDAY! My crazy busy week is coming to an end. Hooray! Our 4 person team at work has dwindled to two people with recent promotions, etc. Makes things a little crazy in the interim.

Anyhoo, Monday, I'll be in Missouri then come back only to leave again in a few weeks for AR then come back and leave for DC (work) then come back and leave for STL (work) then come back and leave for possssssssibly New Orleans (work) then come back and leave for STL again (Blaze's bachelorette party!) then come back and possibly be in OKC (work) for a few days and last trip at the end of April will be to STL (work). I dunno if I'll be hitting all those places for sure, but that's the rough of what it looks like right now. Whoa. Luckily its spread out enough that Aaron and I'll still find some time to visit-hopefully-since most of the work trips are during the week. Seriously, with that much traveling and related stress, girlfriend needs to be gettin some action at some point.. Just sayin... haha..

So, I tried to get a group together to see 27 Dresses last week, but it doesnt open til this week. (I think they pushed it back a week and I was therefore right about the original release date. Sticking to that.) Anyway, wanna see it? Let's go. Awesome.

My crazy ass little dog woke up at 4AM and decided it was time to be up. WTH?! I definitely didn't teach her that anything early is a good idea. Anyhoo, I asked her what she was doing and she just looked at me. She could have at least answered. Ugh. So, I'm a bit sleepy today.. BUT, TONIGHT IS ZUMBA again!!! This time, I wont stand in back with all the people who cannot catch on. Mean? Yeah, you'd be mean, too, if someone elbowed you or stepped on you every time they got off-beat.

Finally, in an attempt to get some sun and warmth, the tanning beds at my gym have been rather packed lately. I'm getting out of my funk so I wanted to go tan. Right. Well, quick question... what the HELL takes people so long to get undressed and dressed? I mean.. you have on workout clothes... I see the bed go off and then think "okay, a few more min"... about 10 minutes later, someone emerges. What the hell are people doing in there?! Whatever.

Have a great Friday! :)

Volume 14

B/c I'm in my 20s...

1. I've found that everything I planned to be doing now 10 years ago is totally off-base. Most of it I'm perfectly happy (and relieved) with. Yet, somehow, I still keep planning away in my head. While I may be totally off base again in 10 years and be totally okay with it...I have things I truly want to get accomplished, regardless as to how exactly I get there. The journey is half the fun anyway... Just let me plan away to keep my psychological well-being intact.

2. I've become less insecure and more insecure all at the same time. I'm no longer jealous of just any cute girl that looks at my boyfriend and he notices. Please. I'm secure enough to know that I want someone who wants to be with me, not someone who wants to bang the half-naked hottie across the bar. I'm pretty comfy with what I bring to the table. :) However, I'm figuring the "life, job, etc" part out, but it definitely has it's moments where, as a friend once recently said to me, "What if I'm getting an "F" in life and don't even know it? Shit." If you don't ever have those moments in your twenties, I'm jealous.

3. I no longer need to be included in every "it" moment. I mean...the whole "what if I miss out on something" enters my single, young, social brain, but then sometimes, I glance at the cable menu, then at my little dog, and think "this is soooo what I'd rather be doing tonight.." :)

4. I have a LOT more moments where I think "OMG.. how young is that guy/girl? Should he/she even been in the bar?" (Yes, yes they should. Whatever)

5. I choose my battles better. I see the "bigger picture" better than a singular event that might piss me off on a given occassion. That doesn't mean I brush everything off. Oh, no. I get plenty snippy sometimes. But, a knock down drag out over something petty? Unlikely.

6. If you don't email/myspace/facebook/blog, I likely don't talk to you as much as I should. Besides, who doesnt "do" the net? C'mon...

7. I notice wedding rings a LOT more. I mean.. I'm not looking to meet guys or anything, but I'm very clued into guys that hit on my friends, me, etc...and whether they're at the bar b/c they're a dirty whore. Not that I'm into labels, but whatever... ;)

8. Overall, being in my mid twenties makes me hold my head a little higher than I did in my early twenties on the whole "life" thing. Well, I dont think I knew enough in my early twenties to even know I clearly had no idea. That make sense? haha... Does that mean I've got it figured out now? Hardly. But, I know I'm gettin closer...and having a pretty good time along the way.

Finally, anyone watch Cashmere Mafia? Jury's still out on it...Lucy Lu (sp?) is the reason I started watching. I feel like she's likely a badass. If you know otherwise, please don't burst my bubble.

I've been zumbafied...

I made headers to break up the randomness.

Shaking my ass like Shakira.
I like Zumba. :) Had to bust my BUTT to get to my gym on time for the class, but it was worth it. We actually used this segment I'd seen on youtube.. even the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf0q6qtThF4. You like to dance? You need a class to get going? You like younger people in the class who aren't all rock hard? Go do Zumba. If you have no rhythm, please do not do it. You will embarass yourself. That is all. I shall go back this week. You can come as a guest to my gym if you wanna come, too. Just sayin. :) Lemme know.

Dinner.
Then, I felt all "Eat Fresh" like Jared and went to Subway...in the cold...in my workout gear. Yeah, I looked GROSS..and also like it was actually 95 outside and not 35. Whatever. I wanted a sandwich damnit.

Driving home tonight.
I have a quick rant. Hello dump truck drivers...yeah you.. Why must you drive on the highway even though you KNOW rocks are flying out of your ass like there's no tomorrow? C'mon..you know that little "not liable for damages" on the back of your truck is total bullshit. I mean...legally if that rock flies through my window and blinds me, you ARE liable. Moron. I didn't "assume the risk" of being killed by a rock by simply driving on the damn highway near your stupid truck. Well, I suppose there could be an argument...Whatever, I'm getting sidetracked. You're a moron and you should get off the highway. Thanks.

Television.
Also, why is the Jenna Jameson true hollywood story two hours? I'm not watching it really.. it's just on in the background, but it's STILL. ON. WTF?!I guess I need to lay off her (no pun intended). Afterall, she could pay off my student loans from her escapades.. Career move? Nah, maybe not.

My job.
Speaking of careers, guess who got told she's doing an awesome job by her new VP today? Yeah. Me. Tooting my own horn.. TOOT TOOT! I got assigned another VP recently (so now I have a LOT more stuff to do up there). But, so far so good..and I'm even headed outta town to meet with some of her "people" on Monday/Tues! That's a good thing, right? Yeah. I'm taking it that way. Need a speech? Apparently I'm alright at writing them sometimes...Cool. :)

ORU
Since all this lawsuit crap happened to ORU, concerts are coming back! Kelly Clarkson anyone? I dont know if there are any tickets left, but if so, you wanna go? *insert me jamming... singing since you've been gone....

Alright, haven't cleansed myself after the gym. Need to go do that while Gracie sits in the bathroom and stares at me uncomfortably. Awesome. Later!

Have you Zumba-ed??

Seriously. Have you? Should I? It's offered Tuesday at my gym... I'm gonna have to bust my butt to get home, let the dog pee AND get to the gym, so is it worth it? It sounds fun!

Anyhoo, I never posted the "test shots" for my Holiday cards.. the Hanukkah bib, menorah, Pablo and Gracie. Right. See how well it went? haha...

Yeah, shake it off, Gracie... I'm just gonna put it back on... lol!

Work is CRAZY busy lately. So, I'm bloggin a little at home. I havent brought work home at this job-EVER-til tonight. I'm not really complaining, just totally pampered that I never have to take work home anymore.. haha... It's funny how quickly I abandoned the longer hours and annoying work at home.. :)
Thanks for all your suggestions on my sheets n pillows n stuff! I love overstock.com! They didn't have anything really bright, but I'll keep checking. I dont really know what I want, but I'm hoping to know it when I see it. I'm also stalking potterbarn.com. Just sayin... lol! Sarah also made me fall in love with thecompanystore.com
Also, the countdown to Lost is on....two weeks. Brace yourself for totally boring blogs about my theories. Not that this blog is all that exciting... Whatever. Sorry.
I'll let you know if I zumba. Brace yourself for the excitement.

Weekend productivity and picking up men...

Weekend=relaxing...and needed. :)

Friday, grabbed some dinner and went to a bar for a few beers.. Very laid back and low maintenance. *happy sigh*

Sat, my anti-decision-making-anti-commitment-self went and looked for stuff for my bed and bath. After some meandering, pulled out the check card for a very comfy bath rug (in black), some towels at the JCP home sale (in white) and some accent hand towels (in black) :) Cleaned my shower curtain and wha-lah! Cuter bathroom! :) I want to get some wooden letters and paint them black (to match my shower curtain with the fun type face all over it). I need something to spell, though.. "w-a-s-h?" or "b-a-t-h?" Geez.. I dunno. And...and..I'm gonna put towel hooks on the letters.

Also, just got done rearranging my room. It was a DIS-AS-TER at first, but after likely annoying my downstairs neighbor to death, it looks good! Still some work to do and still need fun sheets.. I decided since the comforter is white, I want to get some bright sheets with or without pattern and some eclectic pillows! Recommendations for either are welcome. Think fun, bold, funky, textured, pattered, bright...and you're on the right track. I'm tired of my bedroom being so color coordinated/matchy-matchy.

I like my home project. It makes me feel occupied and therefore less first-of-the-year-funk focused. :)

Other things:

I have a boyfriend; you know that.. but if I were looking... I think I've found the PERFECT way to pick up guys. You see, every time I wear my Cubs tshirt, guys-decently attractive guys-make comments like "Hey, feel your pain.." or "Go Cubs! You make any of the games?" Typically, I forget I even have the shirt on and look perpexed at their behavior for a good 5 seconds...if I hear them at all.. lol! But, seriously, if I wanted to pick up guys, I think I'd buy a shirt from every major sports team in the area...and learn enough to say something intelligent about them to start a convo. Yup. Granted, you could end up with a crazed fan with foam fingers, but whatever...

While we're on sports, can you believe the Chargers won today?!! Aaron's likely more excited than me, but after watching game after game with him over the past couple years, I think I might be headed towards being an actual "fan." ;)

Hope you had a great weekend!

Friday, January 11, 2008

Yeah, that's what I said.

As the week comes to an end, this is what I have to say...in random order...

1. I think showering every other day makes me feel like a crud, doesn't make me feel more rested, but seems to be an unintentional pattern. Sheez.
2. I didnt commit to the comforter and was in my perpetual funky mood the other night...and Aaron surprised me buy ordering it online for me! :) Turned that frown upside down and got him some major "thoughfulness" points in the process. :)
3. I might sign up for a run in Chicago with Aaron for the end of March. It's only an 8K. ("only")
4. I think my typical Feb funkiness is getting out of the way in January? I mean.. we all know Feb sucks.
5. Why am I having anxiety about turning 27 this year?!
6. Making friends with the cook in the work cafeteria can get me a grilled cheese sandwich any day of the week.
7. I found my FAVORITE lipstick color behind my bedside table. It felt like I'd won the lottery...but without greedy relatives coming out of the woodwork. Also, this promoted me even more to rearrange my bedroom. Tomorrow, people. Tomorrow. Who knows what I'll find!
8. I have absolutely NO idea how anyone pays off their student loans on a single income in Tulsa.
9. I've become hooked on making breakfast burritos for dinner thanks to Aaron (we made them in Chicago). Gracie likes them, too.
10. I want to re-do my bathroom but use the same vinyl shower curtain b/c I love it. It's clear from Pottery Barn...with black typeface reading things like "Dont Forget to Wash Behind Your Ears...Oh No! It's Monday.." etc.. I need to clean it, though. Suggestions for a good product to make it look new? Thanks.
11. I want to see 27 Dresses and if you go with me, I might buy you Junior Mints...or Sour Patch Kids.. b/c who eats anything else at the movies?! :)

Gah, I'm boring... haha..

It's that time again..

Blame it on the weather. Blame it on being sick. Blame it on "that time of the month" (TMI, but I dont care. It's my blog). Whatever it is, I am in.a.funk. I look at my messy apt and dont really feel like cleaning it. I think about going to the gym, but decide against it for fear of hurting my back again. I dont even feel like shopping. (Whoa, I know).

I think I tend to open too many file cabinet drawers at the same time sometimes.

What do I mean? Well, a guy at work explained his wife versus him as follows:
"My wife can have 4 or 5 drawers open at the same time-kids, me, work, etc etc.. Whereas, I open one drawer, "kids," for example and then complete the task and close it, moving on to the next drawer. Men are just more one-task oriented." I think I overwhelm myself sometimes, especially since I also analyze everything to pieces. When I open too many drawers so to speak, I often want to leave them all open and just walk away... haha... But, that doesn't really make me feel better. That and I'm UBER sensitive lately. Beware. hahahaha..

I know I need to knock stuff out one by one, but my multitasking brain keeps making each task feed into other tasks which feeds into a Jax funk. Feel me on this one? I shall make a diligent effort to close my drawers. Ahh.. metaphors, my BFF.

Well, I have a class on harassment I have to complete for compliance, so I'm headed out of blogger for awhile. Maybe a cheesy video on harassment will cheer me up... "Billy Boss touched Suze inappropriately.." yeah, that made me giggle..

B/c I'm in my 20s...Lucky 13...

Commitment. Doing something and sticking with it, right? Right. Sounds easy. Hmm...

Maureen and I have been talking about the idea lately...and we think commitment is even harder in your twenties b/c so much seems to be up in the air ALL.THE.TIME. It's the reason she's had a room taped off and ready to be painted for over a month, but hasnt bought any paint. It's the reason I found the perfect comforter-on sale-but havent bought it yet. It's the reason she OWNS her house yet hasn't hung more than a couple things on the walls.

But, this isn't to say we can't commit to anything. I mean.. we commit to plenty. Maureen just took a job to name one example. I mean...people think commitment and they think relationships. Okay, well, I'm committed to that-no problem. :) But, there are some things in your twenties that feel just.so.overwhelming but shouldn't. I mean.. it's a damn comforter for my bed!

Do you know how often I think about rearranging my furniture? Have I done it? No. And, uh, how long did I want a dog before I came upon little Gracie? I research and research and research but just cant quite say "Ummm..okay.." I wait for the "feeling" when you think "wah-lah! That's totally it!" Granted, it worked out with Little Gracie. :)

It's quite the perdicament really and it doesn't make much sense that I can commit to a job, a boyfriend, a dog (finally) and even a hair color, but not a set of 40 dollar sheets at Target. Also, whoooooo has needed a new car for awhile? I mean.. mine's fine, but I'll need a new one sooner rather than later b/c of issues with it. Yet, have I done anything about it? Nope. I start to look online and think "I'll do this later.."

Commitment. Decisions. It's very Scarlett O'Hara "I'll think about that tomorrow" mentality. It's like I kinda put my palm on my forehead, lay back and sigh "Enough decisions today...need rest..." Lol! This isn't to be confused with not knowing what I want... I mean.. Once I know what I want, I go for it, guns blazing. But, it's the sitting there thinking "Wait...do I want this...or this...am I sure? Hmm.."

Welp, plates are continuously spinning in our twenties...and I shall continue to mentally plot the rearranging and re-decorating of my apt while Maureen continues to fold down pages of painted rooms she likes. We're not alone. We know it. Thank you and Happy Wednesday. :)

Ran-dom Tues-day (clap clap clapclapclap)

Good morning! Only have a few min before a conference call, soo...

- I got the best thing in the mail from Carrie that made my day!!!! It deserves a pic, so you'll just have to wait to find out. ;)
- I am SO saddened by the hiker in GA. When they found her body, my heart sank. I mean... She was mid twenties... She seemed like she had SOME common sense; she even knew karate. She took her dog walking in broad daylight on a trail she knew really well.. I dunno. I just wonder why witnesses even saw her talking to this guy. I mean.. he doesnt look friendly and is even missing teeth. WHY would she let her dog go play with his and walk with Mr. Crazy? Something doesn't fit...Hmmm...
- My eyes are on the New Hampshire primaries. I dont know why I care so much this year, but it's interesting damnit.
- 27 Dresses starts this week and I am oh so excited!!!
- What the EFF was up with the weather being on from 7pm til 10pm last night? I wanted to watch Dance Wars, but Noooooooooooooo. Then, wanted to watch October Road....Nnnoooo.. They were too busy comparing hail sizes to random objects...

Okay, conference call time. Try to blog more later!! :)

Status: Delayed.

Happy 2008!!! I have a TON of fun photos from Chicago, but I got in late so I'll post tomorrow night or something. Wish it was a longer trip, but 2008= so far, so good. :) I changed flights so I could get back later so I'm not really hacked at the delayed flight. It was worth it... :)

Buuut, cynical slightly a-type jax is still in effect. When my plane landed at the same time as like 3 other plans..on the same luggage thing... I got a little annoyed b/c....

Why the hell do people have to stand so close to the luggage thing? It doesn't make our bags come any faster. And just makes my half-asleep-lightweight-self reach around those two guys in the pic in a feeble attempt to chase down my floral bag and heave it with one arm over some other guys bag...

Dude. Back the eff up.
